    Rio Grande Mud

It was on their sophomore release, Rio Grand Mud that ZZ Top certifiably honed the blues/rock hybrid that would turn them into a household name by the mid-70's. From the insanely great riff of Just Got Paid Today through the countless leads that fill out the 1972 classic, Billy Gibbons guitar is front and center here and all the better for it.

    By A Thread

With over 1,000,000 Gov't Mule albums sold to date and over 2,000,000 downloads sold through Mule.net,
Gov't Mule is one of the most successful and respected bands in the world. Once lauded by Rolling Stone for successfully bringing the classic power-trio sound of Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience into the 21st century - the band has completed work on 'By A Thread'. Their first studio album in three years.

Recorded largely at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studio in 2009, the album's origins are apparent from the first track, "Broke Down On The Brazos," named after the nearby river, with a deep Texas stomp for the backbeat and featuring the trademark guitar-work of ZZ Top founder Billy Gibbons. Perhaps less descriptively named,
"Steppin' Lightly" is another burner, set off by the soulful vocals and mind-bending guitar work of Haynes, who proves anew why Rolling Stone named him one of the Top 25 guitarists of all time.

Other highlights include the lament "Railroad Boy," informed by both Celtic tradition and the Mississippi Delta; the expansive psych-rock of 'Monday Mourning Meltdown"; and the optimistic 'Frozen Fear," with
its lush harmony and even a hint of rocksteady skank. In recent months, Haynes has been spectacularly busy in his other dual roles as guitarist and singer for The Allman Brothers, who recently wrapped an epic stand 15 night stand at NYC's Beacon, and The Dead, where he recently drew raves from USA Today:
"Haynes has the toughest role to fill... he did so masterfully."

Gov't Mule tour dates this summer included Mountain Jam, Bonnaroo Music Festival, Rothbury Music Festival, The Weesner Amphitheatre in Minneapolis MN, Mile High Music Festival in Denver, CO, Minglewood Music Hall in Memphis, TN, Sloss Furnace in Birmingham AL, The Fillmore in Charlotte NC, Masquerade

The album is predominantly Texas blues, featuring such artists as ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan and his brother Jimmie Vaughan. The film's score was composed by Graeme Revell, and two short excerpts of his work are featured on the album.

There are also extracts of dialogue from the film. The Chicano rock band Tito & Tarantula, who portrayed the band in the Titty Twister bar, appears on the soundtrack as well.

    Perfectamundo

Perfectamundo, the debut solo album from Billy Gibbons, ZZ Top guitarist/vocalist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
inductee, is a blend of Blues, Jazz, Latin and Rock, as Gibbons explores songs with a new backing band, The
BFG's, who are a handpicked group of musicians selected for this unique outing. The album itself was inspired by
Billy's early influence of Cuban Jazz and studying Latin percussion with Tito Puente at an early age, along with

Live In Germany was recorded at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany for the Rockpalast TV series. Hot on the heels of their classic Deguello album (it features 9 of the 10 songs from it) the show finds ZZ Top before sequencers and synthesizers epitomizing their lil' ol' blues band from Texas nickname.

Complimented by tracks drawn predominantly from their Tres Hombres and Fandango! albums this is a true best of ZZ Top in the seventies.

    Lullabies To Paralyze

In 2005 Josh Homme, eleven multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes and band members Van Leeuwen and Castillo recorded the Queens' fourth studio album 'Lullabies to Paralyze'. On this record Homme's voice blends into the band's sound as all the instruments bleed together as one, creating a hypnotic force that finds endless, fascinating variations of a seemingly simple sound. The result: an addictive album that begs listeners to get lost in its ever-shifting moods and slyly sinister sensuality. The record features the appearance of several guests, most notably ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and of course the sensational Mark Lanegan. The record debuted at number 5 in the Billboard Music Chart, the greatest initial success of any Queens Of The Stone Age record to date.

    Accumulator

As Greyhounds, guitarist Andrew Trube and keyboardist Anthony Farrell have been making music and touring for 15 years, refining and developing a sound Trube calls "Hall and Oates meet ZZ Top. Anthony brings that LA thing and I bring the East Texas thing." Ardent Music, the independent record label based out of legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, expects to build on the fanbase the band has developed both on the road and as a staple of the Austin music scene. Label director Reed Turchi says,"We committed to three albums not only because we believe in these guys, not only because they're great musicians and songwriters, but because they've been incredibly prolific." "We're always writing," Trube says. "We've got songs for eight albums." The first 'hounds out of the gate will be Accumulator. "This is the re-introduction that never happened," Trube says. The album will combine the cream-of-the-crop of tunes the band's devoted followers pass along to the uninitiated with new, previously-unreleased tracks. An accumulation of the band's past and present, with a nod to ZZ Top's Eliminator, one of the most famous and commercially successful albums ever recorded at Ardent, Accumulator is also the first part of a sort of three-part wager well-known at the track. "The music business is a gamble," Anthony Farrell says. "You got to keep playing to win. There have been lots of times we could have said 'This is too hard,' or 'There's no retirement plan. But basically you have to play your hand. And now Ardent has bet on us, and we've bet on them."The first album will give new listeners "a little taste of the evolution of the band," according to Farrell, and will be accompanied by a re-vamped stage show featuring more than just a new set list. The band's respect for the past, and their roots in country, blues, rock and soul, will meet the present in the second Greyhounds album released by Ardent, which is set to feature all new songs, with more of an electronic aspect. Farrell explains, "You ingest all your experiences, and you try to make sense of them through your art. This second album will be a reflection of where we were at when we wrote those songs." For the third record, the band anticipates more of a live sound. The duo say they're excited to be recording in Memphis, with its rich musical heritage, and particularly at Ardent Studios, which combines that heritage with state-of-the-art equipment. When they aren't touring and recording as Greyhounds, Trube and Farrell keep busy as members of JJ Grey and Mofro, playing 200 dates a year, and writing songs for a variety of other musicians, including Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.

    La Futura

La Futura, the first new studio album from ZZ Top in nine years, is set for release on American Recordings. The album harkens back to the hallmark raw sound of the band's formative years and will, inevitably, be considered a return to form on multiple levels. Produced by Rick Rubin and Billy Gibbons, the album finds the legendary group infusing their newly recorded work with the electric blues/roots approach that typified ZZ Top's earliest work while, at the same time, reaching for new sonic horizons. At its fundament, this is the incarnation of the band whose influence resonates today with such artists as The Black Keys, Jack White, Queens of the Stone Age and many others.

The fact that the new album's title is in Spanish is a nod to an early ZZ Top tradition manifested in the titles of some of the band's earliest albums including Tres Hombres, Fandango!, El Loco and DegÜello. Known for decades by the sobriquet "That Little Ol' Band From Texas," ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Keith Richards in 2004 and has maintained a very active international and domestic touring schedule over the intervening years. They signed to American Recordings a few years ago and have been working on what would become La Futura in spurts since then.

    The Tel-Star Sessions

Limited-Edition White Vinyl With Special Art

    Newly Mixed & Mastered

The Mule's previously unreleased original recordings from 1994 are coming!

In early summer of 1994, while on break from Allman Brothers work, the original Mule line-up of Warren Haynes, Allen Woody, and Matt Abts assembled at Tel-Star Studios outside Sarasota, Florida, to lay down on tape their vision to exhume the rock power trio - their influences ranging from Cream and Jimi Hendrix Experience to Blue Cheer and ZZ Top.

Says Warren, "Allen Woody had plenty of ideas in that department -- starting with simultaneously bringing back the 'rock bass' sound. Along with our discussions about the 'power trio' being missing from the current musical landscape were the discussions of how the sound of the bass guitar had gotten progressively 'cleaner' since the '80s (or late '70s), and how that affected the overall feeling of the music. So, when we went in to the studio to do our first recording sessions, part of our mission was to capture an old familiar sound as well."

What resulted from those sessions was the key soundscape of the band's rawness and excitement that Mule fans will love: straight-ahead rock- and blues-based song structures, explorative but tight and tough as a clenched fist. And while their search for that old familiar sound bore great creative fruit, these recordings also reflect the times in which they were recorded: there are interesting Soundgarden- and Alice In Chains-like musical references to grunge and the alternative rock sound that emerged from the early and mid-'90s.

    Step Back

Blues legend Johnny Winter will release a new studio album, Step Back, via Megaforce Records. The album, the followup to 2011's Roots, will find Winter exploring a more aggressive vintage-blues style.

The album also will feature a host of special guests, including Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry, Dr. John, Leslie West, Brian Setzer and Joe Bonnamassa.

"If there's good people, other good musicians, people enjoy it. I just love it, Winter says. [Step Back] is just to bring it to the people of today who haven't listened to the old music. It's better than anything they hear today.

Produced by Winter's guitarist, Paul Nelson, Step Back opens with "Unchain My Heart," which features Winter and his band joined by the Blues Brothers horns. ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons is featured on "Where Can You Be."

"I never had the opportunity to jam with him [in the Sixties and Seventies]," Gibbons says. "I was content to remain in awe and admiration."

"If it weren't for Johnny Winter, I would have never picked up the guitar," adds Aerosmith's Joe Perry, who joins Winter on Lightnin' Hopkins' "Mojo Hand."

Other highlights include Winter's guitar and vocal trade-offs with Harper on Willie Dixon's "Can't Hold Out (Talk to Me Baby)," Winter and Clapton's rendition of Bobby Bland's "Don't Want No Woman" and Winter and Dr. John honoring Fats Domino with "Blue Monday."

"When you hear that sound come out of that Firebird guitar, you know it can be the one and only Johnny Winter," says Setzer, who is featured on Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown's "Okie Dokie Stomp."

Mirrors I feel like I've heard enough music that seems to be overtly 'lo-fi' or reverb-saturated; so I was interested in finding a combination of sounds that I
hadn't heard used together before. I was very fortunate to be able to call on this group of people to help me map some new terrain."

Recorded in Los Angeles at the legendary Ocean Way studios in a room built for Frank Sinatra & used by everyone from Bob Dylan to Ray Charles, Mills
created an album that references a range of genres without really belonging to any.

To that end, Mills asked several of his musical heroes - including Jim Keltner, Don Was, Jon Brion, Benmont Tench, Mike Elizondo, and Fiona Apple (who
duets on the slow-burning "Seven" and timeless sounding "Don't Tell Our Friends About Me") - to collaborate on what would become Heigh Ho. "Blake
arranged the music the way that CÉzanne would've filled a canvas," Don Was notes of his experience

Since quietly making his debut album, Break Mirrors, which critics hailed as one of the best albums of 2010, Mills has been consistently busy. He's
producing the highly anticipated sophomore album for The Alabama Shakes, and has worked as a producer with a wide variety of artists, including ZZ
Top's Billy Gibbons, Sara Watkins, Conor Oberst, Sky Ferreira, and Fiona Apple, with whom he toured extensively in 2013 and 2014. As a session player
and sideman he has worked with Beck, Cass McCombs, Jackson Browne, Lucinda Williams, Moses Sumney and Neil Diamond, among others. Rick
Rubin and T Bone Burnett frequently call upon his services as a guitarist, and equally enamored is Eric Clapton who recently told Rolling Stone magazine
"Blake Mills is the last guitarist I heard that I thought was phenomenal.

    Life Before Insanity

Life Before Insanity is Gov't Mule's fifth album, released in 2000 to great critical acclaim. Warren Haynes and Allen Woody formed a power trio with Matt Abts after leaving Southern Rock staple Allman Brothers Band. Precious tracks on this album include the haunting title track, the powerful "Wandering Child", "No Need To Suffer" and "Lay Your Burden Down" (the latter two are featuring Ben Harper on vocals). The most hit sensitive track proved to be "Bad Little Doggie", a ZZ-Top like burner, which received lots of airplay. Life Before Insanity was the last album featuring bassist Allen Woody, who tragically died just six months after its release. Finally, it's released on vinyl for the first time!

    Feel This

Blind Blues Rocker Jeff Healey plays his Stratocaster flat on his lap, allowing him to perform unusual long stretches that give his music real heart and unpredictability.

His third album Feel This (1992) offers the power trio's meatiest and most satisfying outing. Here, the group captures much more of its trademark live intensity than in the past. The unobtrusive addition of keyboards adds a more expansive dimension to several tracks.

Boogie fans will want to check out the ZZ Top-like Cruel Little Number; Blues-Rockers will come away satisfied with the likes of House That Love Built.

    Devastator

Catfish Haven's Devastator is in the spirit of Kiss' Destroyer, ZZ Top's Eliminator and Lou Reed's Transformer. The bands blues-infused ballads and boozy trots possess equal amounts of backwoods authenticity and cosmopolitan flair. They may harvest most of their mojo from south of the Mason Dixon, but they bleed metropolitan with undeniable garage-grime charm and power-pop arrangements. Catfish Haven's unclassifiable, yet broad appeal, is evidenced here by DevastatorÆs in the pocket title track, the organic glitterball jam ôSet In Stoneö and the bittersweet barn burner ôFull Speed.ö

    Things Haven't Gone Well

Music Blues is Stephen Tanner of Harvey Milk. Things Haven't Gone Well is Tanner's debut as a solo artist and the first album under the name Music Blues. The album was completely written and recorded by Tanner in both Georgia at Harvey Milk's vocalist and guitarist Creston Spiers' house and in his Brooklyn apartment. Tanner continues on with the musical touchstones of Harvey Milk (Melvins, Gore, Earth, ZZ Top, Kiss and Judas Priest) while forging ahead into a strange, and at times harrowing, unknown.

In Chrome Cactus, The Young have created
a HUGE sounding, timeless rock album that
reinforces and revitalizes everything that is
great about American Rock Music in 2014.

Taking influence from early ZZ Top, Link Wray,
Lungfish, Dead Moon - Chrome Cactus is a ball
of power and controlled feedback disguised as
ten of the catchiest songs you'll hear this year.
Chrome Cactus is a far darker version of Austin's
The Young than ever before. The breezy
optimism of their earlier albums has been
switched out for sinister, creeping dread in both
    the lyrics and music.

The rhythm section of drummer Ryan Maloney
and new bassist Lucas Wedow drive a heavy
    foundation for guitarists Hans Zimmerman
and Kyle Edwards, who have reached dizzying
new heights. Expertly produced by fellow
sonic assassin Tim Green (Nation of Ulysses,
The Fucking Champs),    Chrome Cactus is the
    moment where Zimmerman's vocal delivery
is perfectly matched with the skillful, intuitive
interplay, which at this point is now fully realized.

The 13th Floor Elevators 1967 Masterpiece On 180 Gram Gold Vinyl For The First Time Ever

Mastered on 180-gram audiophile-quality vinyl from masters mixed to stereo from the original 1967 Andrus Studios session multitracks by IA producer Ray Rush at Autumn Sound Studios during November 1976.

The only 13th Floor Elevators LP to make the Billboard chart captures the group at their absolute peak. Released in November 1967, a year after their debut LP 'Psychedelic Sounds', the band, critics and fans alike consider 'Easter Everywhere' to be the Elevator's finest work.

Produced by Lelan Rogers, the music is delivered with an informed power and intensity of knowing. Even the quieter tracks, 'Dust' and 'Had To Tell You' display a restrained beauty and purity of vision which perfectly counterbalance the intensity of 'Earthquake' and 'Slip Inside This House'.

Genre-defining, pioneering, unique and utterly timeless, The 13th Floor Elevators continue to influence and inspire new generations of musicians.

R.E.M, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Primal Scream, ZZ Top, Spacemen 3, Echo and the Bunnymen, Julian Cope and many more have covered their songs.
