    Little Games

By the time Jimmy Page joined the Yardbirds in 1966, the group was already firmly established as one of the era's most innovative and creatively adventurous British bands. The addition of Page allowed the band's heady mix of blues and psychedelia to coalesce into an edgy approach that laid the stylistic groundwork for Page's next band, Led Zeppelin (who were known as the New Yardbirds in their early days).

The Yardbirds' 1967 release Little Games - produced by noted British pop guru Mickie Most - is the band's only album to be recorded entirely with Page as a member, and the only one to feature the group's final lineup of Page and founding members Keith Relf, Chris Dreja and Jim McCarty. Little Games is also a transitional effort that find the Yardbirds delving into an array of sounds and styles, from gritty blues-rock (Drinking Muddy Water) to swirly psychedelia (Glimpses) to introspective balladry (Only the Black Rose).

Several of the album's tracks can now be seen as sonic blueprints for Led Zeppelin, e.g. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor and Glimpses, both of which feature the distinctive guitar bowing technique for which Page would soon become famous. Page's acoustic instrumental showcase White Summer would later become a frequent feature of Led Zeppelin's live performances. The album also features Page's future Zep band mate John Paul Jones on bass, cello and string arrangements, along with guest appearances by UK session aces Nicky Hopkins and Clem Cattini.

    Truth

Jeff Becks position in the pantheon of great electric guitarists is indisputable. As visionary a musician as Jimi Hendrix, Beck made his name as the second of three hall of fame stringbenders for the legendary Yardbirds (following in the Slowhand shoes of Eric Clapton and preceding the pre-Zep/session gigging Jimmy Page). Known for his blistering leads and the wild chances he took as one of the first axemen to widely employ feedback during a solo, Beck immediately launched his solo career upon leaving the Yardbirds in 1967. Together with vocalist Rod Stewart and multi-instrumentalist Ron Wood on bass, he cut a pair of albums that expanded on the greatness of his previous work.

In late 1966, Beck began work on Truth, his solo LP debut. Recording with his core group of Stewart, Wood and drummer Mickey Waller, Beck ventured far beyond the established rock guitar lexicon, forging a unique style which would influence generations of future acolytes. The LPs grand masterstroke, Becks Bolero, is recognized as one of the greatest guitar instrumentals of all time. Notably, the session musicians on this track represented the cream of the British rock scene: Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones on bass, Nicky Hopkins on piano and a Moon-lighting drummer from a mega-band who could not be listed in the credits for contractual reasons. Rumor had it he could see for miles, though.

The influence the album inflicted on the current and future rock scene could hardly be overstated. It showed the way forward toward a heavier, blues-based guitar sound (hello, Led Zeppelin) and provided essential instruction to guitarists from Tom Scholz to Stevie Ray Vaughan. The opening track, Shapes of Things, reworked a Yardbirds song and literally built a bridge from Becks immediate past to his present. The albums cover of the Willie Dixon classic, You Shook Me, beat Zeps version to wax by several months. Throughout the disc, Becks razor-sharp fretwork and enormous tonal palette surprises and amazes at every turn.

This benchmark recording is sourced from the original analog mono masters and is proudly pressed on high-definition vinyl. As another rock legend once said, Just gimme some Truth!

A year after Truth, Beck & company returned with the even thicker sound of Beck-Ola, an album often sited as one of heavy metals firestarters. Along with Stewart, Wood and pile-driving new drummer Tony Newman, the album features the inspired addition of storied session man Nicky Hopkins on keyboards. Hopkins added welcome texture to the albums seven tracks, most notably on the Hopkins-composed Girl From Mill Valley. Elsewhere, group tears through two Elvis Presley covers and four band compositions with an intensity that practically leaps from the stylus to the speakers.

Could a band this heavy, this hard-hitting last? Unfortunately no, it could not. Following the completion of the album, the group splintered on the eve of the Woodstock festival with Stewart and Wood leaving to join the Faces. Of course, Beck went on to future triumphs in a variety of genres and styles and Stewart and Wood found wider fame and fortune as well. How fortunate, then, that we have this time capsule from June, 1969, to document their seminal collaboration. Relive those electrifying moments on this superb Sundazed Music reissue, sourced directly from the original Epic analog session tapes and purposely pressed on high-definition vinyl. Almond's voice--although it no longer veers out of tune like it used to soendearingly in the 80s--is still enthralling. - The Guardian

'Shadows And Reflections' is the new album by Marc Almond released by BMG. It features sumptuous arrangements of iconic torch songs and60's orchestral pop for which he is beloved, as well as two new original compositions. The album features songs written or recorded by artists such as Burt Bacharach, TheAction, The Yardbirds, Bobby Darin, Julie Driscoll, Billy Fury and the Young Rascals. The album thematically begins and ends in an apartment. It's about this guy that'sliving in a luxury expansive glass apartment overlooking the city, filled with sculpturesand beautiful things, an empty soulless shell, surrounded by absurd wealth. He issitting alone and I imagine listening to this music, possibly the songs that make upthis album. He's rich in the bank but the poorest person you know.

2017 cements the 60th Birthday year for the singer who the Observer noted, hasnever stood still and comes after the great success of the Top 10 album 'Hits AndPieces', which was followed by a sold-out Spring tour including a triumphant show atLondon's Roundhouse.

By the time Cream formed in 1966, Eric Clapton was already fairly well known, having already performed and recorded with the Yardbirds and John Mayalls Bluesbreakers. However, it was in Cream that Clapton became a global superstar. Breaking free of the traditional rock & roll song structure for a more improvisational / jazz influenced take, the bands long jams gave birth to a whole new approach to rock music. When their debut album Fresh Cream was released in 1966 it immediately became the standard by which all other bands of the era were judged. Includes 5 bonus tracks.

    200 Gram Vinyl LP

As they celebrate a thirty-year career of filling arenas, selling tens of millions of albums and playing songs with which a generation of rock fans came of age, visionary rock legends Rush decided to have a little fun with the music they grew up with. Feedback features covers of songs by The Who, The Yardbirds, Love, Cream, Buffalo Springfield and more, the trio's new LP is a rocking good time for anyone who loves Rush or just classic rock & roll.

Drummer Neil Peart, in the album's liner notes, explains, It was April of 2004, but Geddy, Alex, and I were channeling back to 1966 and 1967, when we were thirteen- and fourteen-year-old beginners. We thought it would be a fitting symbol to commemorate our thirty years together if we returned to our roots and paid tribute to those we had learned from and were inspired by. We thought we might record some of the songs we used to listen to, the ones we painstakingly learned the chords, notes, and drum parts for, and even played in our earliest bands. The tracks on this collection are songs we liked from the era that we thought we could 'cover' effectively (meaning not too many backing vocals), and have some fun with. The music celebrates a good time in our lives, and we had a good time celebrating it.

    Blow-Up Soundtrack

Blow-Up is a soundtrack album by Herbie Hancock featuring music composed for Michelangelo Antonioni's cult film Blow-Up, released in 1966. Musically the songs evoke the ambience of swinging Sixties' London with grooves that create effective bluesy Jazz moods on the slow pieces, and funky ones on the up-tempo tracks.

The album features performances by Hancock on keys, Freddie Hubbard and Joe Newman on trumpet, Phil Woods and Joe Henderson on sax, Ron Carter on bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums. Rumours go that either the fabled Jimmy Smith or Paul Griffin played the Hammond organ on this record.

Rock fans remember the film and the soundtrack for the inclusion of a rare Yardbirds number, Stroll On (actually, an adaptation of Tiny Bradshaw's The Train Kept A-Rollin'), one of only three songs they recorded with both Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page on guitars. The bassline to Bring Down The Birds was sampled by Deee-Lite for their 1990 hit single Groove Is In The Heart featuring Bootsy Collins.

    Nilsson Schmilsson

Harry Nilsson could be one of the more neglected but great singer-songwriters of the 20th century. John Lennon & Paul McCartney both named him as their favourite American singer in a 1968 press conference.

The Monkees, Fred Astaire, the Yardbirds, and later artists such as Aimee Mann and Mariah Carey recorded his songs.

But ask the average Joe about him, and they probably won't know that he was the man behind classics such as 'Everybody's Talkin', 'One' and 'Without You'.

Harry had a taste for Tin Pan Alley songs & McCartney-esque melodies, but his impish wit and impressive vocal range give his songs an extra dimension.

Nilsson Schmilsson contains his biggest hit 'Without You', along with other classics such as the faux-tropical song 'Coconut' and the bluesy 'Early In The Morning'.

This album is more accessible and cohesive than any of his other albums and received a number of Grammy nominations on its 1971 release, yet it still manages to keep the mischievous and slightly off-kilter humour.

The Jeff Beck/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Series Continues!

Jeff Beck's 1968 Masterwork Album - First Time Authorized Audiophile Vinyl

Stunning Gatefold Cover With Rare Photo Of The Jeff Beck Group

Mastered From The Epic Records Stereo Tapes By Joe Reagoso And Manufactured At R.T.I.

Jeff Beck is truly a worldwide gift to rock music and guitar enthusiasts everywhere. There will never be another Jeff
Beck, a guitar genius who has enthralled generations of aspiring musicians and music lovers with the many fine recordings
he has made for the past five decades.

Celebrating five decades in the music business, this English native initially captivated millions of kids in the 60's with
his first recordings with The Yardbirds. He drove the rockers mad with his famous guitar licks and dynamic presence on the
stage. As individual members of the band started solo projects, Jeff Beck began the rudiments of The Jeff Beck Group with
his friends Jimmy Page, Nicky Hopkins, Keith Moon and John Paul Jones and threw down the mega instrumental Beck's
Bolero. This track along new tracks recorded at Abbey Road with Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Nicky Hopkins and Mick Waller
would serve up his very first solo smash album Truth.

Kicking things off with the hard hitting Shapes of Things, this Yardbirds' revisit takes on a whole new approach with
the soulful vocals of Rod Stewart paired with the guitar antics of Jeff Beck. A match made in heaven, these two pioneers of
the British blues scene carry on with more masterful workouts on such fare as their hits Rock My Plimsoul, Let Me Love You
and their inspiring tour de force Blues De Luxe. Willie Dixon's I Ain't Superstitious and You Shook Me, plus their brilliant Tim
Rose cover of Morning Dew along with the brilliance of Beck's Bolero made Truth the revered masterpiece that it still is today.
Noted for his stellar guitar work, pretty much introducing new ways of using technique, distortion and effects to a
whole new generation of guitar players, Jeff Beck's Truth is truly a primer for a ton of rock and blues artists.

Friday Music is no stranger to the music of the legendary Jeff Beck, his arsenal of fine recordings already on our label.
That is why we are so very proud to announce another fine installment in The Jeff Beck/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile
Vinyl Series with his first legendary masterpiece Truth.

Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (Jeff Beck, Yes, Deep Purple) for the first time on audiophile vinyl from the Columbia
stereophonic tapes, Jeff Beck's Truth will truly become one of the most important and historical 180 Gram Audiophile
Vinyl titles in quite some time.

To celebrate Jeff Beck's five decades in the music business, we further enhance this limited anniversary edition with a
stunning gatefold cover featuring the original artwork elements as well as a classic inside gatefold rare photo of the original
Jeff Beck Group with Jeff, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Mick Waller.

    Triple LP On White Vinyl

"The combination of Page and the Crowes is a win-win." - Rolling Stone
"Page & Crowes reinvent the Led Zeppelin canon and a round of blues ravers the
concert album of the year and the first truly indispensible rock document of the new
    century." - Billboard

"I've always thought the Crowes were one of the finest live rock bands around, period."
    - Jimmy Page in Rolling Stone

"I'm humble in the face of Jimmy and his work and all the amazing things he's done.
I knew deep down that, of any band, we're really one of the only ones that could have
pulled this off well. And when we started playing the stuff ourselves it just became
more apparent." - Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes

In the Summer and Fall of 1999, one of the best live rock 'n' roll bands and rock's greatest guitarist united
for a tour across the States, performing the best songs from the band that virtually invented Rock! Led
Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page joined Chris and Rich Robinson and the rest of The Black Crowes to perform
"Whole Lotta Love," "Heartbreaker," "What Is and What Should Never Be," "Hey Hey What Can I Do" and
many more Zep favorites. The band also ripped into blues classics like "Mellow Down Easy," "Woke Up
This Morning," the Yardbirds classic "Shapes of Things" and the early Fleetwood Mac number "Oh Well."
Now, over a decade later from the original release, this classic collaboration is available for the first time on
vinyl. Spanning three discs on white vinyl, Live at the Greek is a sterling recording of a legendary concert
on the nights of October 18 and 19, 1999.

Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton (Awaiting Repress)

Ranked 195/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

    Mono Edition

1966s seminal Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton marked John Mayalls emergence as a major recording artist, as well as his commercial breakthrough. The 12-song LP, considered by many to be the most influential British blues album of all time, marked the official introduction of Mayalls long-running, ever-evolving combo the Bluesbreakers. Mayall shares the spotlight here with soon-to-be-superstar guitarist Eric Clapton (who quit the Yardbirds in order to pursue his blues muse with Mayall), along with future Fleetwood Mac co-founder John McVie on bass and Hughie Flint on drums. Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton is generally acknowledged as a musical milestone for Clapton; his scorching playing and over-the-top tone dominates the entire album. With the groups punchy performances captured in straightforward style by noted producer Mike Vernon, the album offers a potent combination of Mayall originals and distinctive interpretations of songs by Ray Charles, Freddie King, Little Walter and Otis Rush.

    Blow By Blow

1975 was a magical year for Jeff Beck. Already a rock superstar from his ground breaking guitar work with The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck Group and Beck Bogert and Appice, Beck's Blow By Blow was a total artistic leap into new musical territory which netted the guitar hero massive acclaim.

Smokin' originals like You Know What I Mean, Air Blower and Scatterbrain have all become standards in the rock/jazz fusion world, as his beautiful cover of Steve Wonder's Cause We've Ended Now As Lovers illustrates even further the depth, technique and originality of Jeff Beck's guitar artistry.

which made this one of the most important and emulated albums of all time. The album features classic gems like his classics
Dearest Darling, Say Man, Don't Let It Go and The Clock Struck Twelve. Noted for his stellar guitar work, pretty much introducing his Bo Diddley Beat riff to a whole new generation of guitar players, Go! Bo Diddley was truly a primer for a ton of rock and
blues artists for years like Eric Burdon and The Animals, George Thorogood, Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and
    The Yardbirds.

Bo Diddley opened the doors for millions of music fans around the world to enjoy rock and blues, making him along with
Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and Little Richard as one of the first pioneers of the popular recording business that we all enjoy to
    this day.

    Fresh Cream

By the time Cream formed in 1966, Eric Clapton was already fairly well known, having already performed and recorded with the Yardbirds and John Mayalls Bluesbreakers. However, it was in Cream that Clapton became a global superstar. Breaking free of the traditional rock & roll song structure for a more improvisational / jazz influenced take, the bands long jams gave birth to a whole new approach to rock music. When their debut album Fresh Cream was released in 1966 it immediately became the standard by which all other bands of the era were judged.

    Ascension Heights (Pure Pleasure)

At the pimply age of 15, Surrey-born Anthony 'Top' Topham stepped onto stage in May 1963 at the Eel Pie Island Club in Twickenham with his new blues-wailing band - The Yardbirds. A few months later he was replaced with Eric Clapton and after that a certain Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page also joined that volatile crew. When you consider what a staggering influence Cream, Beck and Led Zeppelin have had on everything in rock then and now - it's a damn shame that Top Topham got musically lost in the mix somehow and has never been given the catalyst credit he so deserves.

The album Ascension Heights has always been a £100+ vinyl rarity, so its reissue here is to be welcomed. But it has also divided Blues purists for years because - for a blues label release - it's a slightly strange record! Firstly it's entirely instrumental - and not in a blues way either. It doesn't seem to quite know what it is. One minute it has the playfulness of Django Reinhardt jazz noodlings on Spider Drag, the next minute it's Sixties Chet Atkins on Globetrottin', the next second its funky Blood, Sweat and Tears without the vocals on the brass filled Mini-Minor-Mo. It also features Pete Wingfield on Piano. There are even times on Hot Ginger where it sounds like a soulful version of Fleetwood Mac's debut album! A heady mix to say the least! It's a varied album, daring in its choices and remember - most are original songs by Topham. Ascension Heights is a grower that bears repeated listening.

Attention: Both sides of this LP were cut at 45rpm.

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
