    Wretch (Awaiting Repress)

This is a fine debut and a much needed shot of trad doom, with actual songs, - in an era of obsession with amps and pedals (but without, you know, actual songs and stuff). It is a triumph for this intrepid trio and surely there are great things to come for the band. Make no mistake, Wretch are here and Wretch will bring you real doom or throw you out of the bar if you don't like it.

Taking a page from each of the anthologies that Metallica, Megadeth, At The Gates, and Behemoth have written, Wretched has bound together their own unique volume of stylishly structured death/thrash metal masterpieces. The band recorded "Beyond The Gate" with producers Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me) and Eric Rachel (Hatebreed, The Black Dahlia Murder, Dillinger Escape Plan) at The Basement Recording Studios in their home state of North Carolina.

    Wretch

Indianas exponents of True Doom Metal, The Gates of Slumber, return with this monstrous slab of poseur crushing heaviness. Recorded at Orgone studios, London with Jaime Gomez Arellano, (Ulver, Ghost, AEthenor, Angel Witch etc), The Wretch is an uncompromising return to the heavy, slow Saint Vitus inspired all out Doom.
Featuring new drummer Cool Clyde, the dynamics of the band have been opened wide and whilst there are now plenty of bands that think all you need to do to be really heavy is to just down-tune their guitars and play slow, TGOS realize there is more to the art than just this. By far their most focused release to date, The Wretch is a must for all fans of heartfelt, melodic and HEAVY Metal!

    New Hope For The Wretched

New Hope for the Wretched is the debut album by punk-metal band The Plasmatics, fronted by the infamous Wendy O. Williams. The front woman is also credited on the sleeve as playing the chainsaw and machine gun! A hint at how raucous and rowdy their live shows and albums were. This is some fast and furious Rock N' Roll, and Wendy O's gruff vocals perfectly compliment the music.

    The Wretched Spawn (Picture Disc)

    25th Anniversary Limited Pressing

Original Uncensored Art On A Vibrant Picture Disc

2004 release, the ninth album from the American Death Metal band. This is the last studio album to feature Jack Owen, one of the band's founding members.

Cannibal Corpse are just as brutal and pummeling as on 2002's Gore Obsessed , but they have stepped up the technical level of the material on this one. This is generally non-melodic, utilizing instead much more complex structures and riffing than melodic death metal. Pat O'Brien and Jack Owen play some of the most elaborate guitar parts I have ever heard, and they play them faster than almost anyone. Alex Webster may be one of the best bass players on the planet, and he certainly shows it here. The intricacy, speed and force he utilizes on these thirteen tracks is simply mind-boggling. The vocals of George The Corpsegrinder Fischer are deep, abrasive, throat-tearing death roars. CC's songwriting is an improvement over their last couple offerings. Instead of rehashing their old riffs, they are truly inventive, and, at times, remind of the obscure brilliance of The Bleeding and Vile. The album closer is a great summarization of the album: ferocious and absolutely brilliant.

    Bluejeans & Moonbeams (Awaiting Repress)

About the best one can say about 1974's Bluejeans & Moonbeams is that it's not as bad as his other release of the year, Unconditionally Guaranteed. In fact, there are two tracks, the pretty reverie Observatory Crest and the stomping blues-rocker Party of Special Things to Do, that are actually quite good. The rest of the album, however, is fairly dire. Recorded with anonymous studio musicians who are clearly out of their league and glossed to a soul-less polish by producer Andy DiMartino, Bluejeans & Moonbeams never catches fire even at its best, and its worst tracks -- those would be Pompadour Swamp and the utterly wretched proto-disco Captain's Holiday -- are the worst things that have ever borne the Captain Beefheart name. Captain Beefheart would eventually return with the revitalized Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) in 1978, but Bluejeans & Moonbeams sounds like a tired and cynical make-work project.

    Is This Real?

Remastered From Original Tapes By Greg Sage

    Deluxe, Tip-On Sleeve

Unquestionably Portland's most well-loved punk group, the Wipers formed in the late 1970s and in 1980 released their debut LP, Is This Real?twelve songs of stabbing, jittery guitar, snapped vocals, and unabashed teen angst. Full of desperation and yearning, the LP has stood as a blueprint for wretched youth for over 25 years. In the early 1990s Is This Real? was given mainstream attention when Nirvana covered two tracks off the record and Cobain announced it was one of the primary influences on his group.

While it was reissued on compact disc and available as a part of the Wipers Boxed Set (Zeno), this is the first time Is This Real? has been available on vinyl in the U.S. since its initial release. Remastered from original tapes as provided by Greg Sage himself, the LP is pressed on audiophile grade vinyl and housed in a deluxe tip-on sleeve. Complete with a printed insert that replicates the original inner sleeve, the Jackpot Records reissue of Is This Real? is a lavish tribute to one of the greatest recordings of the last 30 years.

    Black Veil Brides

Los Angeles based rockers Black Veil Brides are back with their fourth studio album, self-titled.

The new album was produced by studio legend Bob Rock, known for producing some of rock's most successful albums including Metallica's Black Album
and Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood. The 11 track album features some of the band's most aggressive and diverse songs to date. The album opener and
debut single Heart Of Fire is an upbeat rocker that showcases the band's signature dual-guitar attack and driving rhythm section all behind a positive
lyrical message the band has become known for.

The album cover was designed by longtime friend and previous album cover illustrator, Richard Villa.

Black Veil Brides have been continually building momentum and expanding their ever-growing "BVB Army" since the release of their first album We Stitch
These Wounds. Their debut song "Knives And Pens" has been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube. The band have also released critically-acclaimed albums: Set The World On Fire and Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones respectively. Their last release landed at #7 on the
Billboard 200 selling over 42,000 copies its first week. Black Veil Brides recently won an award at the inaugural Alternative Press Music Award in
Cleveland for Most Dedicated Fans. This award goes alongside their numerous Kerrang awards and three Revolver Golden God Awards.

    Desperate Souls of Tortured Times

Welcome to the Taurean Empire; a decaying land where disease, war and corruption is rife. A wretched place of man and beast, where deception, fear and despair fills every dank alleyway and the stench of suffering drifts across endless, sun-scorched plains. As way of ensuring safe passage through this hellish hour, let us introduce your guides for the journey; four road-hardened mortals, brought together by luck, power and coincidence. Ladies and Gentlemen, take up arms and go safely as Age of Taurus show you a world inhabited by the Desperate Souls of Tortured Times....UK based Age of Taurus make no frills Doom-laden heavy metal, with an emphasis on HEAVY. Produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Angel Witch, Hexvessel, Ghost), 'Desperate Souls of Tortured Times' is a 42 minute collection of material written during their transition over the past three years. It's an unashamedly heavy voyage down a road less travelled, where each of the seven songs acts as a chapter from an altogether longer tale. Monstrous, mountain-shaking riffs are order of the day in the Empire, stepping aside only for Riddell's searing leads to take hold, whilst the lock-tight Bruce/Claydon rhythm section underpins all. Heading the charge from centre stage, Wright's lyrics act as a vivid narrative, painting pictures of ancient ritual and sprawling landscapes, somewhat reminiscent of Manilla Road and Brocas Helm in their prime. Some might assume that DSOTT is a concept album, however in reality, Age of Taurus is more like a 'concept band', intent on delivering undiluted and intriguing heavy metal to all that will listen.

    Repo

Repo is the fifth album by Black Dice. The Brooklyn, NY-based trio has never worked harder at crafting a set of concise, sonically battering, or flat-out bizarre tunes than on this collection of fringe-surfing tone bombs. Yet a new roadhouse blues-band philosophy has simultaneously emerged, allowing the group to loosen up and toss off a record packed with blurry hooks and zoomed-in riffs as casually as a grizzled denizen of roadside dives might spew out aural alchemy in-between a few brews.

Brothers Eric and Bjorn Copeland and Aaron Warren have spent the better part of 10 years in daily contact, touring the world over, and sculpting their saw-toothed sound balloons under circumstances most reasonable people would wretch at. Their communal consciousness is as packed with garbage as much as it is concerned with making catchy tunes, and often the songs pouring out of it contain equal parts bombastic infectious rhythm and chaotic detritus.

Repo is the sound of a disciplined group of cosmic jokers setting out to reclaim the landscape popular culture would have us believe we cannot afford. The record irreverently mulches the sounds and images of radio, TV and internet into a fertile compost pile squirming with new, raw life. This Double Vinyl edition of Repo also features a 20 page booklet with exclusive art by the band.

    x

x (pronounced multiply) is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

Ed Sheeran is blessed - he seems to know exactly where he is going, and exactly how to get there. Where countless others fail to make an impression amid today's information overload, Ed's music and talent cut straight through.

He has a poise that is as welcome as it is unusual in someone so young. He's both utterly self-assured but still charmingly open. He has a confidence that's built not on being able to sing someone else's song quite nicely on a teatime TV show, but on hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of gigs where it's just him, his guitar, a loop pedal and a crowd.

Ed grew up in Suffolk where he learnt to play an old guitar given to him by an uncle. Spurred on by a chance meeting with the aforementioned Rice when he was 11, Ed started writing songs. Aged 16, he moved to London - into a flat above the T-Bird pub in Finsbury Park - with only one thing on his mind: playing gigs, as many as he could and as often as he could.

One night Ed played a tiny bar in North London whose website listed every young promoter in town. That night Ed Myspaced them all and a few days later he had nearly a hundred new gigs lined up. A pattern began to emerge - all day in the studio, all night playing gigs. From the early days Ed would sell CDs of his songs out of his backpack, putting cash in his pocket to get to the next gig, but also planting a flag in people's minds that here was music that was worth paying for. Not satisfied by CDs alone, fans have flocked to his website to pick up everything from hoodies to jewellery.

When Ed was told by his then management that he would need to conform to succeed - including dying his hair, and giving up his unique delivery - Ed responded by writing the cult song, 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'. Over the next year he released five EPs, each one totally different, each one totally him. There was a singer-songwriter one, a live from The Bedford one, one written with singer Amy Wadge. Each sold better than the last.

After two years of constant gigging and sofa surfing, Ed recorded a live version of 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' for leading urban YouTube channel, SBTV. The clip got 100K hits in two days and is now approaching 1.5M views. A few days later, he wrote what would become his first major label release, 'The A Team': a story about a girl he met whilst working at a homeless shelter. The video for that has just surpassed 1M views.

By the time Ed released the final EP - No. 5 Collaborations, which featured the who's who of UK hip hop and grime: Devlin, Wretch 32, Dot Rotten, P Money, JME and Wiley, the support was so strong it propelled Ed to Number 2 in the iTunes album chart after just 24 hours. The only artist selling more copies was Rihanna. When Elton John called his mobile to congratulate him, Ed realised quite how big things had got. Amid interest from numerous labels Ed shortly signed with Asylum - part of Atlantic Records.

    Long Live The Angels

Long Live The Angels is a mesmerizing journey through the triumphs and tragedies of the last four years of Emeli SandÉ's extraordinary life. Exultant in its delivery and bold in its intent, the record is steeped in an unreserved sense of freedom and self-discovery. It will be released on November 11 via Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company.

It's from that feeling of freedom that new single "Hurts" was born, an uplifting track brimming with heart and soul. "This entire album is about me not holding back and not censoring myself, and 'Hurts' is an explosion, it's just real talk," explains SandÉ. A lot has happened to SandÉ in the four years since the resounding success of her critically acclaimed number one record, Our Version Of Events. Not only was it the biggest selling album of 2012 and second biggest selling album of 2013 in the UK, but it was also certified 7x platinum, spent seven non-consecutive weeks at No.1 and exceeded The Beatles' previous record by spending 63 consecutive weeks in the top 10 and selling over 4.6 million copies worldwide.

The multi-instrumentalist initially made her mark as a songwriter in the UK urban scene via acts such as Wiley, Wretch 32 and Chip, later becoming a highly sought-after writer for a wide array of international acts including Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. As 2013 came to a close, SandÉ was exhausted and unable to ignore the strain it was putting on a number of close relationships, "Sounds a bit dramatic but I just wanted to disappear. I just had this overwhelming sensation and realization everything had to stop," she reflects, "And then slowly it did."

Recorded in New York, L.A, London, and Oxford, Long Live the Angels crackles with energy and a sense of euphoria for both listener and artist. Certain tracks may be slower in spirit, but are dynamic in delivery, "I made sure the production wasn't overworked," Emeli points out, "And I really went for it vocally!" SandÉ's outstanding voice sits at the heart of the record, underscoring the singer's mastery of both technique and form but also her natural intuition as a vocalist. Opening track "Selah", a short poem backed by a choral choir sets the tone, written solely by SandÉ during a time of reflection; it's a powerful and poignant introduction to the album.

Next up is the sensational "Breathing Underwater", which SandÉ describes as "the ultimate journey in rebirth and self-discovery." The super stripped back "Give Me Something" is a wondrous take on keeping the faith despite the odds being stacked against you, and the beautifully melodic Shakes is a piano and strings-led masterpiece. "Garden" harks back to SandÉ's urban roots, written and produced in London with Jay Electronica, who also features on the track. It's a reminder that Emeli's influences are as much R&B and rap as they are singer/songwriter. "Lonely" is a long hard look at love and has the feel of a track made on a summery late sixties afternoon. "Sweet Architect" (Johnny Coffer and Mojam) is the show-stopping centerpiece punctuated by the most remarkable choir.

Towards the close of Long Live the Angels, we witness a jubilant SandÉ experiencing the hopes of new possibilities; "Every Single Little Piece" is a stirring mid-tempo ballad, with a huge chorus and soul-stirring strings and the uplifting "Highs & Lows" is a dedication to her family, her history and her heritage.

Long Live The Angels marks a brand new chapter in SandÉ's life, "I'm proud of my first album and thankful for the experiences it gave me. But I'm so much happier with my new album and with where I am in life."

    Axe To Fall

After nearly 20 years, such a glorious run of releases and a live show that's gone from flailing kids flailing against kids to legendary exorcism for both band and audience - watch the pit during "The Saddest Day" and tell me it's not the closest thing to a near-religious experience atheists will ever have - Converge could be forgiven for releasing an endeavour that was simply good, okay, just maintaining their status quo. After all, it's much easier to win the title than retain it, and even the greats slip from time to time. Axe To Fall (Converge's third release for indie institution Epitaph Records), however, is no such relapse.
True to themselves and their art, as always, no matter the cost, Axe To Fall continues to push relentlessly forward, much like a shark that needs to always keep swimming to survive. Where No Heroes was a refinement and broadening of hostilities declared on previous assaults such as Jane Doe, Axe To Fall returns to the more AmRep-inspired noisecore abrasions of You Fail Me while also updating and making vital the thrash influences that defined earlier Converge efforts (Caring and Killing, Petitioning the Empty Sky) and retaining the hardcore hostilities and frantic pace so vital to their foundation. Of course, the experimental anguish and pleading for salvation are no mere sharpening of past knives but yet another leap forward in an existence full of them.

From frenetic, frantic opening track "Dark Horse," which is a downhill avalanche of ferocity culminating in one of the heaviest riffs Converge have ever laid listeners to waste with, to "Worms Will Feed," an ominous exploration that ebbs and flows, building upon crashing then retreating waves of music and lyrical condemnations ("the worms will find a way, the rats will find a way"), to the barely restrained chaos of "Losing Battle" and Axe To Fall's sanguine, beautiful, climatic seven-minute-plus dÉnouement, "Wretched Word," Axe To Fall isn't just another mere "release" or record from spoiled kids discovering metal and crying about how difficult life is in the suburbs. Axe To Fall is a nearly two-decade culmination of hard roads travelled and unwanted, but necessary, lessons learned, of prayers for salvation lost to the wind and too-fleeting nights where everything was still, if only for a moment, consumed by morning's inevitable advance, of crushing defeats and the realization that the war only ends when we do, and it's not one we can win, merely endure. Once again recorded by Converge's resident engineering genius Kurt Ballou, whose God City Recording Studios has become the Mecca for aggressive music's elite to congregate at for assistance realizing their sonic sermons (from Trap Them and Genghis Tron to Torche and Buried Inside), Axe To Fall is as sonically dense a tapestry and punishing a release as Converge have ever conceived, once again perfectly echoing musically Bannon's heart-ripped-out-of-chest-but-still-beating lyrics. It's the summation of experiences learned working on records such as No Heroes and You Fail Me, also recorded by Ballou at God City, and it surpasses them.

But even while Converge and Axe To Fall stand alone - as Bannon is so fond of saying live: "we're born into this world alone, and we die alone, so make your mark while you're here" - they've never forgotten the core values of the hardcore scene they were raised in, and raised others on: community. Axe To Fall is Converge's most collaborative effort to date, even while paradoxically sounding as focused as ever. Axe To Fall features the likes of John Pettibone (Undertow, Himsa), Ulf Cederlund (Entombed, Disfear), Cave In's Steve Brodsky, Adam McGrath and J.R. Connors, F. Sean Martin (Hatebreed), George Hirsch (Blacklisted) and Genghis Tron's Mookie Singerman, Hamilton Jordan and Michael Sochynsky, amongst others, contributing to its dense sonic soundscapes. Even Steve Von Till (of legendary star destroyers Neurosis) graces the record on "Cruel Bloom," an ignoring of musical confines that sounds akin to something Tom Waits and Mr. Bungle might concoct if trapped in a watering hole on the fringes of Purgatory right before the end-time hit.

    Total Explosion

During his eight-year stint with Hi Records, Johnson was in the shadows of both Al Green and Ann Peebles. His albums never flew off the shelves but he could be trusted to release two or three good singles a year. By 1975, Johnson's partnership with Hi Records started to yield even more success. As this album's predecessors had Johnson vacillating between being a romantic and a wretch, Total Explosion explores his unrepentant side with good results. I Only Have Love for You is a classic Memphis shuffle and finds Johnson all but boasting about his lack of financial savvy, as he sings, All I got to give is me. With all of the ill will and venom spewed on Total Explosion, the innocent Star Bright, Star Lite just still doesn't ring true. Johnson comes back to his senses on Steppin' Out. The dramatic, hard-edged track is all anger and domestic unrest as he sings, Excuse me, excuse me while I get dressed; you get the feeling he won't be back anytime soon. The album's biggest single was Johnson's slowed-down take on Green's Take Me to the River. Although the religious/sexual imagery is lost in the translation, Johnson does a good job with it. The best track, the brilliantly arranged Watch What You Do to Me has Johnson playing the role of cuckold, and as he sings I carry my piece, everywhere I go, it certainly made him more a menace than romantic balladeer. Total Explosion was Johnson's most successful album at Hi Records and was one of the best in the label's catalog.

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
