Over The EdgeRemastered From Original Tapes By Greg Sage
Deluxe, Tip-On Sleeve
The bleak, hard-driven third LP by the Wipers (originally released in 1983) offers Greg Sage at his most chased and breathless, lashing out with sharp staccato notes as if melody were his only defense. While their debut LP provided the blueprint for grunge, and their second album recast the band as one of Americas premier postpunk bands, its Over The Edge that best exemplifies the Wipers sound. The jagged, effortless guitar lines, the paranoid lyrics and raw-throated vocals and the taut, unified rhythms that define their sound bleed together most clearly on this LP, and it stands
as both the best entry point for new fans and the most prevalent favorite of diehards.
Since Jackpot Records began our Wipers vinyl reissues in 2006, weve been inundated with requests for a reissue of Over The Edge. After two years of labor, including an immaculate remaster from the original tapes by Greg Sage, we are proudto present Over the Edge, pressed on audiophile grade vinyl and packaged in a deluxe, tip-on sleeve.Side 1:

Is This Real?Remastered From Original Tapes By Greg Sage
Deluxe, Tip-On Sleeve
Unquestionably Portland's most well-loved punk group, the Wipers formed in the late 1970s and in 1980 released their debut LP, Is This Real?twelve songs of stabbing, jittery guitar, snapped vocals, and unabashed teen angst. Full of desperation and yearning, the LP has stood as a blueprint for wretched youth for over 25 years. In the early 1990s Is This Real? was given mainstream attention when Nirvana covered two tracks off the record and Cobain announced it was one of the primary influences on his group.
While it was reissued on compact disc and available as a part of the Wipers Boxed Set (Zeno), this is the first time Is This Real? has been available on vinyl in the U.S. since its initial release. Remastered from original tapes as provided by Greg Sage himself, the LP is pressed on audiophile grade vinyl and housed in a deluxe tip-on sleeve. Complete with a printed insert that replicates the original inner sleeve, the Jackpot Records reissue of Is This Real? is a lavish tribute to one of the greatest recordings of the last 30 years.Side 1

The Wipers Final Recordings
One of the most passionate and influential punk bands ever! The Wipers ''Power In One'' became the last final Wipers recordings. Recorded in 1998 by Greg Sage, all tracks were recorded through vacuum tubes.
''Guitar leeds that dazzle, frighten, and prick the senses, like Jimi Hendrix sans the showy bits and hyper-blues base. This remarkable talent's work as a guitarist is without peer. Power In One is another gale force wind'' - Jack Rabid (All Music Guide)
''As with every Wipers LP I would spend many months observing people and their situations to get ideas of what was in their mind and their motivations. This was always where the inspiration would come from for our songs. I would get a glimpse of the future by doing this and it was easy to write songs that would make sense 10 years from then. The Wipers songs and sound has always been a reflection of real life. I would look for raw and powerful emotions to write about, things that would bring a sense and illusion of realism, this would make our LP's more personal to the listener. I got so many songs from just walking the streets of Portland and watching people'' - Greg Sage (The Wipers)1. The Fall

Live At ReadingRanked #1 in Kerrang magazine's 100 Gigs That Shook The World and voted as Nirvana's #1 Greatest Moment by fans in an NME poll, Nirvana's historic August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at the UK's Reading Festival is one of the most bootlegged concerts in the annals of rock 'n' roll. Now, fans finally can own a pristine copy of that entire performance complete with remastered audio.
While the show's centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn't be released until a year later on In Utero: All Apologies,Dumb, and, in its first ever public performance, Tourette's. The career-spanning set list also reached back to the band's 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for Blew,About A Girl, School, Negative Creep, and the band's first single Love Buzz, and even further back for Spank Thru.
Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: Aneurysm, Been A Son and Sliver. Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound: The Money Will Roll Right In by Fang and by The Wipers.1. Breed

Pyramid Of The SunRecorded throughout 2009 and 2010, Pyramid of the Sun is the most dynamic, melodic and tuneful Maserati album of the bands decade-long career. Retaining the trademark driving momentum that makes the bands live shows so euphoric, Pyramid explores the lighter and darker sides of their sound, anchored by more melodic and varied song structures and exhilarating production.
Mixed with Justin Van Der Volgen (!!!, Out Hud, TBD) and Temporary Residence founder Jeremy deVine (Sonna), Pyramid Of The Sun includes two collaborations with friend and tourmate Steve Moore (Zombi) in the form of the Cluster-meets-Jan Hammer scorcher Theyll No More Suffer From Thirst and the synth-heavy dance epic Oaxaca. Closing the album is the bittersweet Bye MFriend, Goodbye, a motorik summer punk jam that splits the difference between Wipers and Neu!; it also carries the bittersweet distinction of being one of the bands finest songs, and the final track written which was recorded with their legendary drummer Jerry Fuchs, who tragically passed away during the making of this album.1. Desperate Ground180 Gram Vinyl LP
Vinyl LP pressed at RTI
Desperate Ground, the new LP from The Thermals, is exactly what the title implies. A
dangerous path. A crucial moment. A split second in time when you must stand and defend,
kill or be killed. Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide.
The Thermals' sixth LP and first for Saddle Creek, Desperate Ground, is a true scrappy and
scratchy return-to-form for The Thermals, with all the raw power and unhinged adolescent
energy that made their early LP's so insanely enjoyable. Lyrically, the album is a brash and
irresponsible ode to human violence, a black celebration of the inevitability of war and death.
A dark and yet joyous affair, Desperate Ground tells the (murky) tale of a lone rogue in the
night. One man, one path, one sword. An unceasing urge to destroy. A never-ending battle
against the forces of nature. A destiny impossible to avoid. All told, Desperate Ground is a
loud, violent thrill ride, a punk LP as bloody action film. It's The Wipers meets "Die Hard" and

Built In SunBuilt In Sun is a new project from Joe Plummer, drummer for The Shins, Cold War Kids
and Mister Heavenly. Joe has also produced and co-recorded an all drum project
called Hew Time (with Dale Crover and Coady Willis from The Melvins), released on
Joyful Noise in 2014. Joe has also toured and recorded with Modest Mouse and The
Black Heart Procession drums and percussion over the course of the last 10 years.
Built In Sun started during touring breaks between The Shins "Port of Morrow" and
Cold War Kids "Hold My Home" releases. Built in Sun began as an instrumental idea,
with inspirations landing somewhere between John Cales "Fear", the punk vibe of the
Wipers and John Reis, and his favorite soundtrackists John Brion and Clint Mansell.
After the first instrumental mixes were finished (with the help of Richard Swift) he
decided that the tunes and melodies just might be cool enough to ask a few of his pals
to sing. Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession) was the first. Within a day Pall sent
back John John, with solid scratch vocals. Another song came the next day, with new
ones following almost each day afterward .There was no use to ask anyone else.
The songs really came together with the addition of Pall's vocals and it felt great to
collaborate with him again. With this, Built In Sun was complete1. Honeybear

Nothing Is RealCrystal antlers aren't really about making some shit we've heard before, but they do take notice of some important touchstones: powerful organ runs, ragged vocals and an ability to turn even relatively short songs into something that sounds beyond epic."
- The Fader
Merging psych, garage, lo-fi, prog, and countless other influences, the group easily maintains consistency despite a complete inability to be pinned to any specific movement or trend."
Art-garage whiplash at its finest."
- AV Club
It's hard not to admire these out-there dudes"
They're at the point where comparisons do little justice. They're just crystal antlers now."
- LA Times
Currently slated for a fall 2013 release is the newest Crystal Antlers full-length Nothing Is Real, featuring cover art by famed surf/skate/graffiti legend C.R. Stecyk III and recorded as the band returns to its most fundamental roots as an agile power trio - Jonny Bell, drummer Kevin Stuart and guitarist Andrew King.
Nothing Is Real is Crystal Antlers going beyond the beyond, with songs that rattle and ricochet from desolation to delirium. Opener "Pray" sounds like what would have happened if Black Flag's Greg Ginn had produced the first Psychedelic Furs single; "Persephone" and "Anywhere But Here" match the desperate, relentless rhythm of the Wipers with the inside-out guitar melodies of the Pixies. "Licorice Pizza" recalls lost cult-punk heroes like the Flesh Eaters or the Embarrassment. On Nothing Is Real, you'll feel as much as hear echoes of bands like Wire, Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr.
As Bell puts it, "With each album, we've tried to figure out ways to include more of our whole selves in the recordings, while still keeping things cohesive. And from growing up in punk bands, there always needs to be that little element of something that might piss someone off. We might be using a drum machine-but we're gonna use it completely the wrong way."1. Rattlesnake

Soft ConnectionsIn 2005, at the age of 14, Nic Hessler created the alias Catwalk to write, record and
perform his music. Armed with Wipers and Roy Orbison records, an 8-track recorder and a
garage, Nic set out to make Catwalk the next great guitar-oriented California band like many
teenagers before him. Two tiny run 7" singles on the now defunct Yay! imprint soon appeared,
making the rounds through independent record stores and mail order distributors. This led to
the 18-year-old Nic to sign to the also new and young label, Captured Tracks. Two C/T 7"
releases in 2010 and 2011 followed, leading up to a full-fledged Catwalk LP and tour in 2011.
Press reaction was swift and, as interest was grew, Nic garnered support in his hometown of
Orange County, CA to assemble a tour line-up for the LP. However, none of that would ever
Around this time, Nic was struck with an ailment that kept him sidelined for quite sometime:
Guillain-BarrÉ Syndrome. No walk in the park, GBS prevented Nic from playing guitar,
leaving him partially paralyzed for the bulk of this lost period. While this was obviously detrimental
for Nic and Catwalk, strangely, it may have helped the musician Nic Hessler's career.
Now ditching the moniker of a hypothetical band, Nic re-emerges in 2015, healthy and reinvigorated,
with a more fully-formed and ambitious sound: the sound of Soft Connections, his
debut LP years in the making, though he's now just 23. Soft Connections bridges the songwriting
influences of the vintage American powerpop of Emmit Rhodes and Alex Chilton, along
with UK giants like The Kinks and XTC. Tracks like Hearts, Repeating and I Feel Again-two
classic singles in the radio sense of the word-show the maturity in craftsmanship Nic's been
honing these past four years.
The making of Soft Connections was a lengthy process that took place during a crucial period
of musical growth and self-exploration. It's an optimistic and introspective record about being
in-and-out of feeling - on the brink of a personal breakthrough, yet still seeking direction,
purpose, truth and permanence. Anchored by the Catwalk favorite (Please) Don't Break
Me - a song that, at one point, could very well have launched Nic into indie celebdom -
this record is now a send-off to Nic's lost time; he's moved forward, sounding better than ever

OCD Go Go Go Girls (Discontinued) (On Sale)Although, originally hailing from different parts of the UK, the Lovvers formed while all four members were living in Nottingham in 2005. The group re-calls the spirit of the Germs, the weirdeness of Flipper, the pop-style of the Wipers, and the carefree attitude of The Replacements.
Having released four noisy 7 singles, the band signed to Wichita Recordings in 2008 and released the Think EP that same year. With OCD Go Go Girls the Lovvers set about making a record that in their own words is an unconventional weird pop record. The first single of the same name takes the Real Kids or Television and perhaps adds a touch of influence from the Lovvers other favorite bands, such as No Age or Times New Viking. Complete Discography (Awaiting Repress)In the mid-to-late 1980s, Moss Icon pioneered a progressive, highly emotive sound that stood in stark contrast to just about everything even remotely considered punk-rock at the time. In retrospect, they more resembled an inspired marriage of the bleak post-punk leanings of Joy Division with the raucous riffage of the Wipers, albeit considerably less accessible thanks to Moss Icon's more sinister tone, Tonie Joy's exploratory arrangements, and frontman Jonathan Vance's almost stream-of-conscious sociopolitical rampages.
In the decades since Moss Icon's disbandment, bootlegged t-shirts and patches have been easier to come by than actual recordings, and the Internet is filled with misconceptions and misinformation, incidentally lending an enigmatic, almost mythical status to the band. Rather than attempt to pull back the curtain, this collection, compiling the group's entire official catalog, serves to permanently document the very important contributions of one very important group from a very formative era of underground music. 19-song, 3LP set with download coupon from Temporary Residence.LP1

A dense wall of meticulously controlled chaos
A sentiment carved from the evocative balance of discord and fuzzy
Over the last four years, Olympia-based punk trio Naomi Punk - featuring
singer/guitarist Travis Coster, guitarist Neil Gregerson, and drummer Nic
Luempert - have been lighting up DIY warehouses and large concert halls
alike with their singular brand of mid-tempo, cathartic punk. Commencing
their breakout 2012 debut 'The Feeling', Naomi Punk return to the fold with
their sophomore record, 'Television Man' - their first for Captured Tracks. A
key fixture in the Northwest DIY punk scene, Naomi Punk channel a similar
energy to their contemporaries (Milk Music, Broken Water, Vexx, Gag) and
their fore bearers (Wipers, Dead Moon, Nirvana) while cultivating a body of
work and aesthetic that is wholly their own.

and mastered by Rick Fisher at RFI, 'Television Man' is a collection of oblique

Lord"This thing is fast, heavy, and sneakily melodic - i.e. it sounds like something you

Lord is the debut from Seattle-based punks FF, a trio comprised of Claire

gloomy, ethereal punk anthems along the way. For sure, the touchstones

Sieg Howdy!Fucking AWESOME. Jello and the Melvins #2. Buy It.
What, you need more reasons? Jello Biafra and the Melvins are musical pranksters united for a common cause - to detonate your brain with some of the most twisted rock anthems ever crafted!
Starting off album #2 with a heavier-than-life version of the Alice Cooper cult classic, Halo of Flies, an intricate tune that alternately slithers and crushes, the band then proceed to treat us to a completely different extended take of their tune The Lighter Side of Global Terrorism (Jello's Hawkwind influence showed through when he asked the Melvins to create a take on the song similar to their cover of Youth of America by The Wipers). With the first two harrowing tracks clocking in at over fifteen minutes -this is not what you'd expect from a Jello record - steering into a more Melvinoid direction, but remaining distinctly separate from anything easily definable - far from a mishmash or outtakes collection, even the Jelvins were surprised at how well Sieg Howdy! flowed as an album.
Through the course of the album the band (yes, they sound like a proper band, not a project!) erupts with colors of its respective players in turns. Biafra's spleen-venting rants Voted off the Island and Those Dumb Punk Kids (Will Buy Anything) are amongst his most acerbic (not to mention insightful!), and the Melvins' cathartic drum and guitar workouts pummel brilliantly through Lessons in What Not to Become and the septic all bass-chug of Kevin Rutmanis (making his final appearance on vinyl with the Melvins on this album) and Buzzo that anchors Wholly Buy Bull.
Of course, the cherry on top is Jello and the lads ripping through a new, updated version of Kalifornia Über Alles - as sung by the GropenfÜhrer himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger! With Jello's unmistakable wit and even more distinctive punk-rock croon fully intact, it's a breath of fresh air to hear a live Jello classic sound the way it was intended to for a change!
The album's remaining remixed tracks serve to deepen the impression that what has been created throughout the course of this collaboration is the work of a band - A band whose songs have enough depth to remain interesting in new and sonic environs. Dalek's chilling reworking of Dawn of the Locusts brings the song into a completely different light, and Al Jourgensen's (Ministry) take on Enchanted Thoughtfist is so cold and almost new-wave-y that it works brilliantly. The tone of the track reaches waaay back into the Ministry back catalog, surprising even Al himself! Then the fresh new tag-team Deaf Nephews (Dale Crover and Toshi, the album's engineer) reshape Caped Crusader into a disturbing cartoon version of itself to round out the record. The fact that these songs are open to this kind of interpretation, and that these interpretations work so well is a testament to the quality with which they were crafted in the first place.
Once again, the band is joined by Adam Jones from Tool on guitar for over half the tracks, and this time around, the stunning artwork is provided by none other than Camille Rose Garcia! 27 minutes of new and never before heard Jello Biafra and the Melvins and 17 minutes of remixed weirdness from the group's friends has created a record that surpasses its predecessor in sheer sonic audacity and is an extremely satisfying listen in its own right. Whether you missed the boat the first time around, or you couldn't get enough of Never Breathe What You Can't See, it's time to stand up, put your right hand over your heart, extend that middle finger, and say it loud - say it proud - SEIG HOWDY!1. Sooner Or Later
Sooner Or Later Brings Back Into Print All Neo Boys Releases That Have Long Been Unavailable To All But Scouring Collectors, And Also Releases Material That Never Saw The Light Of Day
In 1978, the city of Portland, OR erupted with a radical form of artistic expression some refer to as "punk" or "new wave." Restless teenage crowds were gathering in quiet alleys and meeting halls, anxious to shake off their cultural ties, and at the heart of this legendary movement was the powerful all-girl punk group the Neo Boys. Though an active band for just five years (1978-82), teenage sisters Kt (bass) and Kim Kincaid (vocals), together with Pat Baum (drums) and guitarists Jennifer Labianco and Megan Hengtes forged a place for women in the growing punk rock scene, and redefined gender roles in the 80's movement of rock and roll.
With their bleached hair, melodic bass lines, surfy guitar strums and straight-forward poetic lyrics, they were a stand-out in the rising new wave/punk scene. Neo Boys regularly shared bills with Greg Sage and The Wipers, opened for Nico, played their first show with Television and participated in founding Portland's first all-ages collective DIY performance space, Clockwork Joes.
Yet somehow this incredible legacy was nearly lost in the annals of history. Calvin Johnson, a Neo Boys fan since hearing their first single thirty years ago, worked with the band members to track down the missing tapes of their recordings through a rabbit hole of Northwest basements and closets. The result is Sooner or Later (KLP247), a comprehensive double LP collection of Neo Boys recordings from 1977-1982. Included are their long out-of-print 1980 7" EP (released on Greg Sage's Trap Records), and the 1982 self-released EP Crumbling Myths. Sooner or Later also contains studio recordings, early demos and live sessions that have never before been available to the public.
Sooner or Later is divided between the Neo Boys' early, raw punk era and their more accomplished '80s era during which they recorded Crumbling Myths (which was originally meant to be an album but was cut down to a seven song EP at the last moment). "Time Keeps Time," a bouncy bass-heavy track, made popular again by Grass Widow's cover on their Milo Minute 7", demonstrates the Neo Boys timeless appeal. And Kim Kincaid's soft, not-too-sweet vocals in "Nothing To Fear," which makes two appearances on the collection, speaks to the power of the band's ideals, and the importance of pursuing your artistic vision, even in the face of adversity.
The Neo Boys were an outspoken feminist fixture in the development of the NW underground music scene, and this legacy is cemented with the release of their complete recordings, Sooner or Later.
"Neo Boys have been an influence not only on my approach to melody, but also to a world of imagination where anything is possible. Their music is just as pertinent and relatable today as it was 30 years ago, and with existential songs about alienation, societal problems and love, they created a world I have taken refuge in during times when I felt the effects of narrow attitudes about gender and women's voices in music." - Hannah Lew, Grass WidowLP 1
