Phases and StagesThe legendary career of Texas-born music icon Willie Nelson has spanned six decades and stands as one of contemporary music's greatest legacies. Nelson first rose to fame as a Nashville-based songwriter, penning many now timeless standards including Crazy, a top hit for Patsy Cline. Feeling constrained by the Nashville music establishment, Willie relocated to Austin in the early 70s, where the melding of rock and country audiences made a huge impression on him. He began fusing folk and roots rock with a rebellious outlaw country flavor, inventing an authentic, stripped-down sound that remains vastly influential to this day. At this pivotal point in his artistic evolution, Nelson signed to Atlantic Records, delivering two signature albums revered as all-time masterpieces of his extensive repertoire, Shotgun Willie and Phases And Stages.
Phases And Stages is the first of many albums on which Willie strings songs together to tell a single story. The first half of the album recounts a break-up from the woman's point of view; the second half tells the same story, but from the man's perspective. Among the many outstanding tracks on this classic album are Sister's Coming Home, I Still Can't Believe You're Gone and Pretend I Never Happened.

Jennings), his melancholy #1 title track Always On My Mind, plus an

Red Headed Stranger (Awaiting Repress)Ranked 184/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Following the brilliant Phases And Stages, Willie's debut for Columbia is a brilliant concept album (nearly unheard of in country music) based around the song and story of the Red Headed Stranger. Although the song had been previously recorded by Eddy Arnold, it was Willie who would take the song to a much higher level by putting together an entire cycle of songs based around the tragic story of the Red Headed Stranger. Nelson's album is a stunning mix of original and classic songs. Among the highlights are his heartfelt interpretations of Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, Time Of The Preacher and Can I Sleep In Your Arms by the prolific songwriter Hank Cochran.
Red Headed Stranger also features Willie's Family, his band, featuring his sister Bobbie (piano), Jody Payne (guitar, mandolin), the impeccable harmonica of Mickey Raphael and the ever-flawless Billy English on drums. The sound of the new Impex 180-gram LP, cut from the original analog master tapes by George Marino at Sterling Mastering, will become the new reference for clarity, realism and, above all, duplicating the inimitable sound of Willie's incredible singing voice.1. Shotgun WillieTransferring his allegiance to Atlantic (where he would record two remarkable albums that would get him kicked off the label), Willie Nelson offered his finest record to date for his debut -- possibly his finest album ever. Shotgun Willie encapsulates Willie's world view and music, finding him at a peak as a composer, interpreter, and performer. This is laid-back, deceptively complex music, equal parts country, rock attitude, jazz musicianship, and troubadour storytelling.
Nelson blurs the lines between his own tunes and covers to the point that Whiskey River, this record's best-known song, seems thoroughly original, yet it was written by Johnny Bush and Paul Stroud. This, along with two songs apiece by Leon Russell and Bob Wills, provides context for his originals, with Shotgun Willie becoming a musical autobiography, offering not only insights into his musicality (witness how he slows down Stay All Night [Stay a Little Longer] to a slow shuffle) but, seemingly, into himself (most notably on the title track and the wonderful, funny travelogue Devil in a Sleepin' Bag). Nelson wasn't just at a peak of performing here -- he also wrote some of his greatest songs, highlighted not just by the previously mentioned tunes but also by the lovely slow waltz Slow Down Old World and Sad Songs and Waltzes. All of it adds up to possibly the finest record in a career filled with hits and highlights.1. Shotgun Willie

UNIM-FAN-3498xLukas Nelson & The Promise of the Real
Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The RealSince their formation as teenagers 10 years ago, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real have quietly developed into one of America's most dazzling new live acts, playing hundreds of shows and major festivals all over the world, attracting a deeply devoted underground following.
Still, with a bounty of invaluable experience under their belts, nothing foretold the artistic leap of Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real their new, self-titled album, a mesmerizing, emotionally genuine, endlessly rewarding work of cosmic country soul set for release via Fantasy Records.
Recorded at The Village Studios in West Los Angeles Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real was produced by John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer) and features the band's new six-piece line-up: Lukas Nelson (guitar, vocals), Tato Melgar (percussion), Anthony LoGerfo (drums), Corey McCormick (bass, vocals) along with new members Jesse Siebenberg (steel guitars, Farfisa organ, vocals) and Alberto Bof (piano, Wurlitzer, B3). Jess Wolfe and Holly Lessig of the indie-pop group Lucius contribute background vocals on five tracks evoking Exile on Main St.'s ecstatic, gospel-rooted harmonies, and Lady Gaga added stirring background vocals to Carolina and Find Yourself. Elsewhere, the lilting, Glen Campbell inspired gem, Just Outside of Austin features a guitar solo from Lukas' dad, country music icon Willie Nelson, and piano from his 86-year-old Aunt Bobbi.
The new album includes 12 Lukas Nelson originals that draw on his country and rock lineage including literate Texas songsmiths like his father and 'uncles' Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings, along with the enduring influence of J.J. Cale, The Band, Clapton-era Delaney & Bonnie and of course, his mentor Neil Young.
Young, an essential member of the POTR family, met the band after he caught them at Farm Aid several years back. Neil got in touch after that, and we started talking by email, Lukas recounts. Eventually, he asked us to record with him. We fell in love with each other musically, one thing led to another and we became Neil's band.
I knew I had a lot of good songs that transcended the cultural boundaries between rock & roll and country, Lukas says of his vision for the album. We owe a lot to Neil; we made this record after coming off the road with him for two years. Neil's been mentoring us, and we've been absorbing that energy, and I think it shows. We got acclimated to a different level of artistic expression. I wanted to get the songs as pure as they could be. We've grown.
Set Me Down on a Cloud, the soulful, country-rock epic that opens the album features Lucious' angelic background vocals and Lukas' lovely, lyrical guitar solo as the band stretches out behind him. Forget About Georgia unfolds to a Layla-like outpouring of yearning, as it vividly retraces the turbulent, bittersweet final stages of a doomed love affair. Lukas delivers a full-throttle vocal on the closing track, If I Started Over, a Roy Orbison-inspired rumination of tender devotion. The R&B grind of Find Yourself is a particular triumph as Lukas and Lady Gaga weave an impassioned, romantic ultimatum.1. Set Me Down On A Cloud

Live At The Old Quarter, Houston TexasCulled from Townes Van Zandt's years of independently released country-folk records, this austere collection of songs here serves, in effect, as a greatest-hits package. Van Zandt's dry, narrative wit was the source of influence for such singer-songwriters as Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson, and one would be hard-pressed to find a more simple, prettier love song than If I Needed You (a hit for Emmylou Harris) or a more riveting ballad than Kathleen, both sung with focused precision. Brand New Companion shows off Van Zandt's blues-picking expertise, Talking Thunderbird Blues demonstrates his wit and one of his best creations, For the Sake of the Song shows off his poetic strength. Johnny Cash was born during the great depression into a poor family in Arkansas. At a very young age, he worked on the family farm and experienced many of life's struggles. This is also the time he would develop his love for music, family and the Bible, which followed him closely throughout his long career.
In the early fifties after spending time in the Air Force, he moved to Memphis, became friends with folks like Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, and ultimately cut some sides at Sun Studios which became the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar, troubadour and humanitarian unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at Columbia Records knew that this young fellow named Johnny Cash was destined for super stardom. They quickly signed the legend to a long-term deal, and his first singles like his Guess Things Happen That Way & Hey Porter etched The Man In Black trademark to his name.
In 1971 after many chart-topping country and pop albums and a bevy of hit singles and Grammy Awards, more fame followed as the brass at Columbia Records honored their journeyman Johnny Cash with his 2nd greatest hits collection, the gold and platinum smash Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits Volume II.
The album was a blockbuster as it hit the Top 5 in the charts, making this a crossover hit with both country and pop audiences, proving once again that his career was of historic merit. Filled with more hits than a roadside jukebox, the amazing album features his biggest hits like the groundbreaking Folsom Prison Blues and his Shel Silverstein classic A Boy Named Sue. The classic top charter duet with June Carter Cash If I Were A Carpenter is also included, followed up by one of his finest interpretations of his dear friend Kris Kristofferson's Sunday Mornin' Comin'Down.
More treasures follow with the country belter Big River and Cash's gospel smash of Daddy Sang Bass, which truly continues the treasure trove of hits contained in this masterwork.
In total, the album showcases eleven important Johnny Cash recordings which have truly gone on to become international classics for all time.

Willie Hugh Nelson is an American musician, singer, songwriter, author, poet, actor, and activist. The critical success of the album Shotgun Willie (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978), made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books, and has been involved in activism for the use of biofuels and the legalization of marijuana.1. You Left Me A Long, Long Time Ago

To All The Girls...Decades of heartfelt performances and compositions in popular music have long solidified Willie's reputation as one of country's greatest romantics. To All The Girls... continues Nelson's musicial relationships with some of the most talented women in country, pop, and soul.
Among the centerpieces of To All The Girls... is the emotional duet with Dolly Parton, From Here To The Moon and Back, a song Parton wrote for the 2012 motion picture Joyful Noise. Willie also tackles the Bill Withers' classic Grandma's Hands with Mavis Staples, duets with Sheryl Crow on The Great American Songbook selection Far Away Places, and brings a new shade to his self penned classic Always On My Mind with Carrie Underwood.
Willie is also joined by familiar contemporaries including Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Norah Jones and Rosanne Cash. To All The Girls... reunites Willie with producer Buddy Cannon, who worked with Willie on his most recent successful releases, Heroes and Let's Face The Music And Dance.
Having turned 80 years old in April, Willie Nelson has no intentions of riding off into the sunset. Since signing to Legacy Recordings, Nelson has been steadily recording an releasing albums with the same rough-and-ready spirit of his timeless recordsing for RCA and Columbia Records. Heroes was praised by Uncut for being as spirited as it is poignant. Of 2013's Let's Face The Music And Dance, Paste cheered for his strongest and most engaged performances in a decade.LP 1

So You Wannabe An OutlawSo You Wannabe an Outlaw, Earle's first album for Warner Bros. Records since 1997's El Corazón, explores his country songwriting roots and features collaborations with Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, and Miranda Lambert.
"There's nothing 'retro' about this record," Earle says. "I'm just acknowledging where I'm coming from." So You Wannabe an Outlaw is the first recording he has made in Austin, TX. Earle has lived in New York City for the past decade. "Look, I'm always gonna be a Texan, no matter what I do," he says. "And I'm always going to be somebody who learned their craft in Nashville. It's who I am."
So You Wannabe an Outlaw is an homage to outlaw music and is dedicated to the late Waylon Jennings. "I was out to unapologetically 'channel' Waylon as best as I could," Earle says. "This record was all about me playing' on the back pick-up of a '66 Fender Telecaster on an entire record for the first time in my life. The vocal part of it is a little different. I certainly don't sound like Waylon Jennings. I moved to Nashville in November of 1974, and right after that Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger came out. I was around when Waylon was recording Dreaming My Dreams. Guitar Town (Earle's 1986 chart-topping, Grammy Award-winning debut album) wound up being kind of my version of those types of songs," Earle recalls.
Earle is backed on So You Wannabe an Outlaw by his long-time band The Dukes - guitarist Chris Masterson, fiddle player Eleanor Whitmore, bassist Kelly Looney, and new members drummer Brad Pemberton and pedal steel player Ricky Ray Jackson. The album was produced by Richard Bennett and recorded at Arlyn Studios in Austin.LP 1

Band of BrothersIN A CELEBRATED CAREER
that's extended over a half century,
Willie Nelson is immediately recognizable as one of our nation's most
celebrated singer-songwriters. After almost two decades, he's putting both of
those unique talents together with an
all-new album of predominantly original
material, titled, Band Of Brothers.
Willie Nelson's musical gifts ring as
true as ever, and they're brilliantly
captured on this brand new album. 14
new recordings, nine of which feature
new music and lyrics written by Willie,
comprise in one of his most personal
albums in years. The man who penned
elegant country standards from "Crazy"
to "Funny How Time Slips Away" is
in rare form with deeply introspective
tracks including "The Wall" and "Send
Me A Picture." Elsewhere, songs like
the rollicking "Wives And Girlfriends"
and "Used To Her" prove his continued
gift for wit and wisdom when it comes
to affairs of the heart. Willie also
delivers signature interpretations of
Vince Gill's "Whenever You Come
Around", Billy Joe Shaver's "The Git
Go" (a duet with Jamey Johnson)
and Billy Anderson's aptly-titled
"Songwriter". Buddy Cannon returns
as producer and co-writer, having
collaborated with Willie on all four of
his albums for Legacy.
Band Of Brothers comes hot on
the heels of a whirlwind of activity
surrounding the legendary performer,
already a Lifetime Achievement
Grammy Award winner, a Kennedy
Center honoree and one of the rst
recipients of a lifetime achievement
award from the National Academy
of Popular Music. Nelson, whose
association with the Sony Music family
goes back to his 1964 signing to RCA
Records and an extraordinary stint with
Columbia Records from 1975 to 1993,
signed to Legacy Recordings in 2012,
releasing the acclaimed Heroes that
same year, followed by Let's Face The
Music And Dance (2013), a collection
of pop, jazz and country standards.
To All The Girls..., a collection of new
duets with eighteen female duet
partners, was released in October
2013, becoming Nelson's first Top 10
placement on the pop charts in over
30 years. Having turned 80 last year,
Willie shows no signs of slowdown,

Four Legendary Country Artists In One Super-group: Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings And Kris Kristofferson
Featuring The Hit-Singles Highwayman And Desperados Waiting For A Train
The Highwaymen were a country music super-group composed of four of the biggest outlaw country artists: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. The band was active as a group between 1985 and 1995.
In 1984, Glen Campbell first played the song Highwayman for Johnny Cash. The four were all together in Switzerland doing a television special and decided that they should do a project together. While the four were recording their first album, Marty Stuart again played the song for Cash, saying it would be perfect for them-four verses, four souls, and four of them.
Campbell then played the song and the quartet had the name for their new super-group The Highwaymen, the name of their first album, Highwayman, and the name of their first single. The four thought it was a perfect name for them because they were always on the road and all four had the image of being outlaws in country music.
Both the album and the single eventually reached the top spot on the country music charts.
Their remake of Guy Clark's Desperados Waiting for a Train reached the Top 20. (Clark is frequently referred to as The Fifth Highwayman.)
The four original members starred together in the 1986 film Stagecoach.1. Highwayman

As a Singer, Nelson Never Better: Gets Inside the Phrasing, Lyrics, and Emotions of Songs
Why be predictable?, Willie Nelson asked Columbia Records executive Nick Blackburn, after the latter resisted the Red Headed Strangers decision to make an album of classic pop tunes. Talk about outlaw country. Cutting against the genres traditions and Music Row conventions, Nelsons Stardust remains a genius-level creation as well as the icons most commercially successful release, a truly gorgeous record infused with ultimate respect for composers and lyrics and many of the finest performances of his career. It is a quintessential part of any catalog.
Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys world-renowned mastering system and pressed at RTI, this Silver Label LP dazzles with dead-quiet surfaces, tube-like warmth, and an enhanced soundstage. Further exposing the delicate touches abounding in Stax legend Booker T. Jones production, this edition brings out the textured kernels of Nelsons voiceand the deep-seeded dignity, austerity, devotion, grit, sensitivity, grace, and plaintiveness within it. His brilliant phrasing throughout is on par with that of Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles, two giants that influenced this project and his willingness to pair with strings and small combo to wondrous effect.
Having met Jones while living in Malibu, Nelson established a relationship with the musician that extended to roles as producer, arranger and band mate. Jones superior knowledge of the American Songbook comes through via the materials economy of scale and sympathetic approach. Acoustic guitar arpeggios, contrasting breaks, bluesy harmonicas, glowing organs, R&B-tinged horns, brushed drums, and relaxed bass lines trickle throughout the songs, all distinguished by Nelsons intimate timbre and absolutely astonishing vocal expressiveness.
In redefining and reimagining standards such as Irving Berlins Blue Skies, Hoagy Carmichaels Georgia On My Mind, and the age-old All of Meall of which landed in the Top 5 of the Country singles chartNelson wedded together pop, country, jazz, folk, and blues in a manner in which no artist had ever before done. He gained considerable rewards for his exquisite efforts: Stardust sold more than five million copies and, incredibly, stayed on the Country album charts for more than ten years.

Django And JimmieDjango & Jimmie, the new studio album collaboration from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, two of the founding fathers of American outlaw country music. The legendary singer-songwriters join forces and reignite the musical chemistry that made Pancho & Lefty a honky-tonk blockbuster and America's #1 Country Album following its release in January 1983. The success of Pancho & Lefty opened the doors for a number of successful follow-up projects including 1987's Seashores Of Old Mexico album, 2007's Last Of The Breed, with Ray Price.
Django & Jimmie premieres 14 brand-new studio recordings including: "Django & Jimmie," a duel tribute to jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and Jimmie Rodgers, country music's mythic "Singing Brakeman"; "It's All Going To Pot," a rollicking anthem for the emerging 21st century cannabis culture; the reflective and meditative "Live This Long"; "Missing Ol' Johnny Cash," a homage to country music's original Man in Black featuring guest vocals from Bobby Bare; a sublime interpretation of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright"; and the future country classic "Unfair Weather Friend,"
Among the 14 essential recordings on Django & Jimmie, Nelson and Haggard each pay musical tribute to the other through heartfelt solo performances: Willie singing Merle's "Somewhere Between" and Merle covering Willie's "Family Bible."LP1
