Weezer (Blue Album) (Blue Vinyl) (Awaiting Repress)Ranked 297/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Limited Edition Numbered Blue Colored Vinyl LP
Mastered From The Original Master Tapes
Features Superb Room-Filling Sonics
1990s' Ultimate Geek-Rock Record: Includes Buddy Holly, Undone (The Sweater Song), & Say It Ain't So
Weezer doesn't look like rock stars, its amusing name doesn't evoke stadium-heights glories, and the group's lyrics don't exude confidence or flash. For precisely these reasons, and the fact that the band's songs on its self-titled debut are the stuff of air-guitar dreams and shout-it-out choruses, the quartet became ironic arena-rock stars equally celebrated by in-the-know hipsters and mainstream radio listeners. Replete with urgent melodies, quirky confessional narratives, wry humor, and gargantuan hooks, Weezer (Blue Album) remains the best geek-rock record ever made.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g blue-colored vinyl at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's analog version of the 1994 release Rolling Stone named the 297th greatest album ever recorded finally possesses the grand-scale sonics that the music's bunker-busting hooks deserve. Cars frontman Ric Ocasek's polished production is now both free of artificial ceilings that squashed the explosive dynamics and rid of the compression that saddled the frequency range. Instrumental separation is vastly improved, and the amount of midrange energy seemingly doubled. This reissue is guaranteed to help you rock out.
Underdogs and misfits, Weezer emerged from Los Angeles as nerdy kids that eschewed traditional party-hard ways in favor of studying Kiss records, engaging in conversations about old LPs, and playing Dungeons and Dragons. The band's awkwardness joyfully translates in its songs on its 1994 debut, largely concerned with jealous insecurities, pop culture, true-to-life heartbreak, common accidents, youthful misconceptions, and daydreaming. Unlike many of their indie-rock peers, Weezer finds no need to conceal feelings in obscurities, snark, or impossibly impenetrable quirkiness.
While every song on Weezer is a delight, In the Garage, the ultimate ode to a heavy-metal practice space and private musical retreat, best spells out the album's appeal and the band's intent. I've got an electric guitar/I play my stupid songs/I write these stupid words/And I love every one/Waiting there for me/Yes I do, I do/In the garage/No one cares about my ways/In the garage where I belong sings leader Rivers Cuomo, his voice often meshing with that of Matt Sharp, and giving the material a barbershop-quartet harmonic boost in line with the catchiness of the guitar-driven bridges and rhythmic foundations.
More than three-times platinum, the Blue Album, as it's often called, also claims an iconic cover that pays tribute to that of the Feelies' Crazy Rhythms. The picture - as well as the bubblegum-inspired content within - has become an indelible part of modern culture. Weezer graces must-have lists from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Guitar World, and more. And needless to say, My Name Is Jonas, Say It Ain't So, Buddy Holly, and Undone (The Sweater Song) are all modern classics.

Weezer (Green Album)Weezer (Green Album) on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity
Concise, Tightly Played 2001 Power-Pop Album Features Back-to-Basics Approach
Weezer's Fastest-Selling Release Includes "Hash Pipe," "Island in the Sun," "Don't Let Go"
Record Launched One of Most Memorable Return-from-the-Dead Comebacks in History
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Smooth, Big-Guitar Sound Resonates Like Never Before
Weezer's self-titled third album, collectively known as the Green Album, nearly never came to pass. The band had all but broken apart, with leader Rivers Cuomo choosing to go back to college and the other members dismayed at the initial reception to 1996's Pinkerton. Persuaded at the turn of the century to return to the concert stage, the foursome launched one of the most enduring comeback stories in history, and in the process, penned 75 songs, the choicest of which grace 2001's concise, tightly played Green Album.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's reissue presents the music with by far the most dynamic range it's ever enjoyed. Cars icon Ric Ocasek's production comes into fuller relief, with guitar notes ringing with front-to-back depth and superb imaging. Cuomo's singing gains focus and clarity, and the rhythms that help give the tunes their incessant catchiness are better defined, with the low end finally present.
That nearly everything on Green Album-from the cover to the producer to sonics-reflects those of Weezer's blockbuster debut isn't merely coincidence. The quartet, not yet realizing that Pinkerton had already become a cult classic (and, soon after, would be hailed as one of the most prized albums of its generation), intentionally pursued a back-to-basics approach that echoed its roots. Unadorned simplicity, skyscraper-sized hooks, and short-but-sweet arrangements are the hallmarks here, each a signpost on how rock albums can work their way into a listener's head and provide limitless satisfaction.
Of course, however crucial, the music is just one component in Weezer's arsenal. Akin to its sibling efforts, Green Album wouldn't be the same devoid of Cuomo's lyrics, which exude charming personality and boyish awkwardness. Absent is the heart-on-a-sleeve obviousness of the fare of Pinkerton. The material here echoes with a related emotional universality whereby romantic yearning, fear of rejection, and getaway fantasies spark with the winking promise of enthusiasm and attainment. There's a reason every passage remains so accessible; playfulness and wryness abound. Power-pop efforts don't come more perfect.

Pinkerton (Awaiting Repress)Pinkerton on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity
1996 Sophomore Album Cited on Countless Best-of Decade Lists
Includes El Scorcho, Pink Triangle, Tired of Sex, and The Good Life
Loosely Related to Puccini's Madame Butterfly, Confessional Album Lays Bare Frustration, Confusion, Awkwardness, and Loneliness Amidst Power-Pop Settings
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Experience the Album's Edgier Feel as Originally Intended
Few records claim as bizarre a history as Weezer's Pinkerton. Upon release in 1996, the band's sophomore effort failed to meet sales expectations, lacked a hit single, and drew primarily negative reviews from the press. Then, via word of mouth and reevaluation, the Little Album That Could began to build a reputation as an initially misunderstood masterwork-a bold, brave, and exposed creation that happened to have hyper-contagious hooks to accompany the confessional lyrics. Today, it's cited on virtually every Best Albums of the 1990s list in existence.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's analog version of the effort Rolling Stone awarded a full five-star review upon revisiting it eight years later brings the band's live-in-the-studio vocals and darker, raw feel to the surface like never before. Leader Rivers Cuomo's decision to record group choruses around three microphones rather than capture them separately finally can be experienced as originally intended, with the immediate vibe paying off in the form of more engaging, edgier results that parallel the songs' personal emotions and frustrated themes. Guitars, which scrape and push, augmenting the trials and tribulations documented in the narratives, are finally rendered in proper perspective.
Comprised of nonfiction tunes largely based on Cuomo's dissatisfaction with rock-star life, and written by the singer/guitarist as he attended school at Harvard University, Pinkerton confronts disappointment, loneliness, isolation, awkwardness, and cruel romantic irony with a universal perspective to which anybody can relate. Cuomo selected the character Lieutenant Pinkerton from Puccini's Madame Butterfly as a touchstone, believing the persona symbolic of the tormented protagonists in his songs-and recognizing similar struggles to come to terms with identity.
Weezer's aims on Pinkerton have connected with many that identify with its narratives and adore its surfeit of melodies. Surpassing cult-classic status and conquering fickle tastes, the record ranks in Guitar World's "Top 100 Guitar Albums of All-Time"; Spin's "100 Best Albums From 1985 to 2005"; Pitchfork's "Top 100 Albums of the 1990s"; and Rolling Stone's Hall of Fame.
For all the malaise, Pinkerton also contains beloved wit and humor. Shyness and hands-in-pocket diffidence inform "El Scorcho"; incongruity and surprise surround the simultaneously funny and sad "Pink Triangle"; tedium and desire collide on the cynical "Tired of Sex." Psychosexual confusion, unrequited passion, and good intentions elicit unintended sympathies, a trait that remains one of the record's brilliant turns.

Weezer (Blue Album) (Awaiting Repress)Weezer, with its simple blue cover featuring a group band shot, was not like anything most kids in 1994 had heard before. The album took its nerdy cues from strange places like the 1950s, comic books, Dungeons & Dragons, the Bible and producer Ric Ocasek, pop auteur of The Cars.
Initially released without a single or much notice, the album's sales started slow but eventually reached triple platinum status, spending 78 weeks on the chart and peaking at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. It has sold 3.7 million copies in the U.S alone. Local radio play for 'Undone The Sweater Song' prompted an official release and video directed by then rising star Spike Jonze. The video featured the band performing on a soundstage, joined by a wandering pack of dogs. Their next Jonze-directed innovative video for 'Buddy Holly' helped spike the band s popularity and won four MTV video awards. The song rose to No. 2 on Billboard s US Modern Rock chart, one of three top 10 hits for Weezer.
The album's esteem has only continued to rise in the decades since its release and its impact has been magnified. Rolling Stone placed the Blue album in both its lists of top 500 albums (No. 297) and top 100 debut albums, where it was No. 35: When it came out, Weezer's debut was merely a cool, quirky power-pop album with a couple of hit singles: 'Buddy Holly' and 'Undone (The Sweater Song).' But Rivers Cuomo's band became a major influence to the young sad-sack punkers who today claim Weezer as one of emo's pioneers. Mixing winking deadpan delivery with serious hooks, guarded sensitivity and a deep disinterest in alt-rock's then-roiling culture wars, they came up with a record that's aged much better than a lot of the serious indie-rock of the time.1. Angus SoundtrackClear Vinyl
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Angus Soundtrack, SRCvinyl is bringing it to vinyl for the first time ever! The album has been mastered for vinyl by Kevin Gray at Coherent Studios and is pressed on limited edition 180 gram vinyl.
The film's soundtrack accurately reflects the melodic ideas prevalent in the alternative rock scene at the time. Most of the bands perform songs that closely resonate with the themes of the film while keeping a fast yet upbeat tone, a sharp departure from the age of grunge, which had just reached its twilight. (It should be noted that Angus' penchant for flannel and denim, as well as his defeatist persona, are concepts more closely associated with grunge.) However, several key songs are absent in the CD that was released, most notably ''Fade into You'' by Mazzy Star, the song that was played as Angus and Melissa danced, and ''Rubella'' by the Smoking Popes.
Weezer's initial offering, a song entitled ''Wanda (You're My Only Love)'' (or sometimes just ''Wanda''), was written specifically for the movie but rejected for being ''too much of a strict interpretation of the movie'' and for not sounding enough like what was expected of Weezer at the time. The previously written, more uptempo ''You Gave Your Love to Me Softly'' was used instead, and the rejection of the former song was known to have hurt Weezer's singer and songwriter Rivers Cuomo at the time. Though Weezer never properly recorded ''Wanda'', Cuomo released his 1994 demo of the song (along with the story of the song's submission and rejection) in 2007 on the albumAlone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo.
The unique version of ''Am I Wrong'' by Love Spit Love, mixing marching band horns into the original version of the song which interplay well with Richard Butler's raw vocals.
Green Day contributed ''J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)'', a song written by bassist Mike Dirnt about his friend who died in a car accident when he was 19. This song peaked at number one on the Modern Rock Billboard charts of 1995. This song was later released on their 2001 greatest hits album, International Superhits. Meanwhile, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong co-produced ''Back to You'' by the Riverdales with producer Mass Giorgini, which was featured during the dance sequence at the high prom in the film.
The music supervisors for Angus were Elliot Cahn and Jeff Saltzman, who, at the time, also managed two of the soundtrack's artists: Green Day and The Muffs.

Death To False Metal is not a traditional collection of studio leftovers or songs from the vault, but a wholly original follow-up to Weezer's just-released Hurley. The album was created using the basic tracks of 10 previously unreleased recordings-nine never-before-heard songs plus one cover-to assemble a brand new and truly modern-sounding record. The result is an evolution for the band, a giant step forward with a nod to the past.
''These were great songs, great recordings, but for some reason they didn't make the final cut for previous records,'' Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo stated. ''Some just weren't right for the albums we were recording at the time-just a bit ahead of their time or too 'rock.' Now, the time is right to introduce them. Together, they are the album that should logically follow Hurley.''
Featuring tracks the band originally began recording from the late '90s to late '00s, Death To False Metal was a labor of love for Cuomo and his co-producer Shawn Everett, as well as the entire band. Each track was individually evaluated by the production team of Cuomo and Everett to figure out how to make each of the songs reach their full potential, and ultimately fit harmoniously on the album. After that process, they then brought in each band member in to complete the parts needed. Some of the ten songs received a major overhaul, while others got the equivalent of a sonic tune-up.
''Turning Up The Radio'' is the result of Cuomo's 2008 collaborative YouTube project, ''Let's Write A Sawng,'' for which he invited fans to submit ideas. As they went through the steps of composing a tune, eventually, 15 people became involved. This track is one of only two songs not solely penned by Weezer for Death To False Metal.
''Blowin' My Stack,'' ''Losing My Mind'' (which features some of the most raw and personal emotions in a Weezer song), ''I'm A Robot,'' and a rock cover of the massive R&B hit ''Un-Break My Heart'' were all first recorded prior to the release of 2005's Make Believe. ''I Don't Want Your Loving'' was originally laid down as a demo for 2002's Maladroit. The abrasive punk-metal ''Everyone'' hails from post-1998 Pinkerton period, as does the pop song ''Trampoline.'' The piano-based ''Odd Couple'' and new-wave-style ''Auto-Pilot'' were laid down prior to 2008's Weezer (aka ''The Red Album'').
The title Death To False Metal comes from a phrase that Cuomo and his younger brother used when they were kids. Musical integrity was a matter of life or death then, and now the new album is a reminder of how important music is for both Weezer and their many fans. At a time when many of their contemporaries seem to have forgotten how to rock, Weezer is ready to teach them. Cuomo and fellow axe-slinger Brian Bell crafted nine epic guitar solos-one for nearly every song on Death To False Metal-and with the band's signature hooks in full effect, Weezer's school of rock is back in session.1. HurleyWeezer return to their indie rock roots on Hurley, their first release on Epitaph and the start of a new chapter in the bands storied career. In many ways, Weezer have always been the unlikeliest of pop bands, earning major radio and video play for left field singles like Undone and Buddy Holly, songs that hardly seem calculated to become radio hits. It is exactly this uncalculated quality that the band returns to on their eighth album. Hurley is as warm and embracing as the glowing smile on actor Jorge Garcias face that graces the cover, as ragged and endearing as fan favorite Pinkerton, as bold and hooky and open as Pork and Beans. And as if that wasnt confusing enough, Rivers Cuomo co-writes with Ryan Adams and legendary Elvis Presley writer Mac Davis (In the Ghetto). In other words, Hurley is in the classic tradition of the best Weezer albums, goofy and confessional and geeky and easy to singalong to.1. Memories

Weezer's Most Balanced, Ambitious, and Diverse Record
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Rick Rubin's Sleek, Layered Production Now Reveals More Details and Subtle Cues
Following four acclaimed albums filled with power-pop, Weezer swings for the fences on Make Believe. Expanding its ambitions, arrangements, and diversity, and helmed by mega-producer Rick Rubin, the 2005 record ranks as the band's most diverse and balanced effort. It's also the group's longest set distinguished by more personal lyrics inspired by leader Rivers Cuomo's meditation sessions. Anchored by four radio-charting singles, and streaked with cautious optimism, Make Believe remains a compelling intersection of sleek, new wave and big, meaty arena-rock bluster.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's reissue affirms Make Believe as the best-sounding record of Weezer's career by allowing Rubin's finessed sonics to showcase the instrumentation and subtle cues embedded in the layers of production. Previously buried or obscured, strings and pianos give extra body and shape to certain songs, while the quartet-buttressed by the brawnier, richer studio techniques-comes across as bigger than ever before. Drums, in particular, strongly benefit from Rubin's experience and ear.
Opening with "Beverly Hills," a chant-a-long anthem that immediately hypnotizing the senses with bleacher-stomping momentum and dorky talk-box solo, Make Believe takes amusing aim at haute-couture culture and fickle materialism here and on the farcical "We Are All On Drugs," each song informed by Cuomo's observations while living in California. Silly, witty, quirky-it's requisite Weezer, and uses a sense of humor to counteract the more serious sides of the album.
As he did on Pinkerton, Cuomo revisits intimate feelings and fears of loneliness, drawing from his break-up with his girlfriend to themes of forgiveness. Make Believe represents both a musical and emotional evolution, wherein Weezer embraces different styles (new wave, harder-edged rock, irony-free ballads) and hints at sincere hopefulness. Two of the effort's biggest singles ("This Is Such a Pity," "Perfect Situation") breathe with an endearing sympathy that steers clear of cynicism or sarcasm. Where the quartet previously opted for self-flagellation when it came to romance, songs here indicate Cuomo and Co. content to move on and let go.
Similarly, Cuomo wrote the nerves-exposed "The Other Way" for his ex-girlfriend after her boyfriend passed away. Undercurrents of self-analysis, apology, and resolution run throughout the material and affirm a maturation that nevertheless avoids sacrificing Weezer's hallmark hooks and melodies. As Rolling Stone writer Rob Sheffield noted in his review of Make Believe, "Not since Brian Wilson has an L.A.-pop mastermind gotten such musical mileage out of wanting to be an ordinary guy, not realizing that his psychosexual freakitude is exactly what makes him one."

Everything Will Be Alright In The EndLos Angeles, CA's Weezer will release their highly anticipated ninth album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, on Republic Records. Produced by Ric Ocasek, who previously helmed production on the band's first and third records (''The Blue Album'' and ''The Green Album''), Everything Will Be Alright In The End is the band's first collection of new material in four years.
Since forming in 1992, Weezer has released a myriad of celebrated, chart-topping albums, selling over 13 million records worldwide. Following an intensely prolific couple years at the end of the aughts, the band chose to deliberately dial down the tempo in 2010, a move singer/guitarist Rivers Cuomo says allowed him to write at a slower pace, giving the songs he wanted to use for an album the time to gradually grow into their final forms. He started almost every song on the piano, eventually transferring them to the guitar before taking them to the band. When it came time to record the material, Weezer reunited with the man who helped them make some of their most iconic album-length work, Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. The resulting album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, is a stand-out gem in Weezer's vast and varied catalogue, a reflection of a much-loved band at their very best. Organized thematically around three groups of songs, it is an album that utilizes that sound from the band's earliest days to tell new stories in 2014, creating some of the finest, most heartfelt songs Weezer has ever recorded.1. Oracular SpectacularDespite being founded in Connecticut by Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden in 2002, MGMT from the start sounded more Brooklyn than Bedford Avenue. Their productions are hard to describe, but if you mix psychedelic with proto-electro punk, shake it up with art noise and add some indie-pop, you just might have got the picture.
Oracular Spectacular is the first major label studio album by MGMT and ultimately enjoyed both critical approval and commercial success, with the album selling over 500,000 copies in the U.S. and going platinum in Australia, the U.K., and Ireland. Oracular Spectacular features MGMT's signature song Kids, the funky track Electric Feel (famously covered by Weezer) and the smashing opening track Time to Pretend. The tunes sound classic and new all at once, paying homage to Bowie, the Kinks, and the Stones, while updating traditional progressions with flashes of Royal Trux, Ween, and LCD Soundsystem.

Pavement, Superchunk, and Spoon to even left-of-center rap acts like A Tribe Called Quest, it's a record that ventures far beyond the clich'd constraints of the emo pigeonhole in which Piebald are so often mistakenly placed (note the jaunty piano romp Part Of Your Body Is Made Out Of Rock, the dream-rock sea-shanty All Senses Lost, or the twee, Shins-like powerpop of Giving Cup). Says Travis of Piebald's all-encompassing musical styles, We don't really feel we're an emo band; we're really more just like hippies that use distortion! Most of the time we're put in a category with emo bands, but we don't really hear the real connection. So we don't like that we're called that ' but then again, we don't really like that any band is called that.
Although All Ears was produced by Paul Q. Kolderie (Cave-In, Dinosaur Jr., fireHOSE, Hole, Pixies, Radiohead), Piebald were admittedly still worried about whether they could top their previous landmark effort, We Are The Only Friends We Have. You always want to like your new record more and feel that it's better than your last one, otherwise you wouldn't want to put it out, says Travis. But Paul was really excited about the new songs, and all the people at the studio were excited, and it felt like we were on the right track, even though we didn't know for sure. And in the end, I think we at least did comparably musically. You still get what you need from a Piebald record. It's different, but you still get sufficiently rocked.1. The Benefits Of Ice Cream

Youve likely heard the story. Now hear the results of one of the most famous sessions in history with a clarity and warmth never thought possible.
In late 1965 and early 1966, Bob Dylan shattered the boundaries between folk and rock music on a controversial tour that found the generation spokesman plugging in and shocking purist audiences that reviled in horror at the sight of their hero playing electric with a bunch of ragtag Canadian mates. Then known as the Hawks, the Band was that backing group, serving Dylan not only on the road but, playing with him after his motorcycle accident, on his seminal Basement Tapes collection.
Recorded in 1968 and ranked #34 on Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, The Bands Music From Big Pink stems from the same localea pink farmhouse in upstate Woodstock, New Yorkas the Basement Tapes and is just as rustic, timeless, and mysterious as Dylans celebrated work. A debut for the ages, the album features two songs co-written with DylanThis Wheels on Fire, Tears of Rageas well as whats universally recognized as the definitive version of Dylans I Shall Be Released. More famously, it also includes The Weight, a standard covered by everyone from the Grateful Dead to Weezer to Aretha Franklin. But the power of this set doesnt lie in one song but the entire album.
A groundbreaking statement, Music From Big Pink lays bare the magnetism of the American South, Appalachian traditions, and country-rock innovations. That guitarist Robbie Robertson, pianist Garth Hudson, bassist Rick Danko, drummer/vocalist Levon Helm, and organist Richard Manuel are all household names only adds to the proof of this must-have records everlasting appeal. This is the majesty of what Greil Marcus called the old, weird America.
Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's analog version practically gives you a spot on the floor at Big Pink as the sessions went down. Curl up, close your eyes, and listen as the music's sublimely organic sounds appear with full-range dynamics, life-size imaging, and tremendous soundstaging. This is one of the reasons why you have a turntable. Prepare for your system, and your ears, to glow.1. Tears Of Rage

Deep SleepSleeping Bag sounds different, you guys. On their third LP, "Deep Sleep", Dave
Segedy (the group's drummer, songwriter and primary vocalist) has taken the band
into heavier, more epic territory. The sunny jangling guitars and fun whistle choruses
are gone; obliterated in a full on fuzz-guitar assault. Dave sings, "I want to free the dog
that I am." and he means it.
Segedy's signature pop songwriting style is still in full effect, now brought to life by
guitarist Tyler Smith and bassist Glenn Meyers. Tracks like "Hush" and "Wrestle"
exemplify Sleeping Bag's honest, bedroom-pop approach and Malkmus-deadpan
vocal delivery, but compared to the sunny disposition of the previous records "Deep
Sleep" sounds downright tuff. Drenched in distortion & reverb, the album culminates
with the nine-minute closer, "The Portal" - an epic shred-fest, equal parts My Bloody
Valentine & Weezer "Only In Dreams". It's quite an affair.1 Riff Randall
