    La Cucaracha (Awaiting Repress)

180gm vinyl LP pressing of the long-awaited 2007 release from the twisted and talented duo (Gene and Dean Ween), their first full-length studio album in four very long Ween-less years! Ween have been busy during their time off, as La Cucaracha proves. The album features a set of new cuts and does NOT include any tracks from the Friends EP released a few months prior to this album. Yes, La Cucaracha does contain a song called 'Friends' but it's not the same 'Friends' that can be found on the Friends EP. Got that, friends? It seems like such a long time since the Weeners released Quebec in 2003 but the silence has been broken and we are all so much better people because of it. Gatefold sleeve.

    Pure Guava (Awaiting Repress)

Ween's long out of print 1993 release, Pure Guava was their third overall and first for a major label. The Pennsylvania pranksters are as unapologetically weird and ridiculously inappropriate as ever here, and the album's greatest moments arrive in typical oddball fashion such as the distorted ditty Big Jilm, the relentless pop hit Push th' Little Daisies and the mock-stadium-rock number Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy). While the absurdity of the album is undeniable, so is the ever-evolving talent and humor of Dean and Gene, who were literally just getting started with Pure Guava.

    Quebec

Quebec is the 8th album by Ween, released on August 5, 2003 on Sanctuary Records. It was the first album released after the band's contract with Elektra expired, and marked its return to independent labels. The album on a whole is comparable to Chocolate and Cheese or their first album GodWeenSatan in that not one single mood or theme can describe it, unlike their country record 12 Golden Country Greats, their nautically-themed The Mollusk, their Beatlesque pop album White Pepper, the dark and murky The Pod and the cheerful psychedelic Pure Guava.

The song It's Gonna Be a Long Night is featured in the game 'Tony Hawks Underground 2'. *The music video for Transdermal Celebration was animated by well known Disney animator Adam Phillips.

Music critic Mark Prindle named Quebec the best album of the 2000's.

    FREEMAN

Listening to Marvelous Clouds, Aaron Freeman's 2012 debut under his own name, fans might have felt that he was ignoring an elephant in his room-a drug-and-alcohol-related onstage flame-out that made viral headlines the year before. But Clouds, a deceptively chill Rod McKuen covers record, was just a warm-up for the artist once known as Gene Ween. In the opening minutes of FREEMAN, the self-titled debut from his new band, Freeman addresses addiction and its aftermath with the combination of merciless self-inventory and artful songcraft that earned Ween one of the most devoted fan bases in contemporary pop. This song, the unmistakably autobiographical Covert Discretion, is a quiet shocker. Save your judgments for someone else, Freeman sings. Be grateful I saved me from myself.

As bitter as it sounds, the track clears the air. FREEMAN represents a new beginning- Aaron Freeman's first album of original material since disbanding Ween and getting sober-but it isn't a record mired in its maker's private struggles. It's simply a collection of gorgeous, subtly offbeat songs-in other words, a continuation of the thread that runs through the entire Ween catalog. The lush psychedelic pop of The English and Western Stallion; the melancholy plea of More Than the World; the unflappable, Plastic Ono Band-esque blues-rock of Gimmie One More-these are songs that bear the unmistakable Aaron Freeman stamp.

And to hear Freeman tell it, they wouldn't have been possible if he'd stayed in his old band. There was so much of 'Aaron had to break up Ween because of addiction' and 'Aaron broke up Ween in order to pursue his solo work,' he says. But I broke up Ween because we were at a creative dead end way before our last record, La Cucaracha. Basically we were going through the motions, becoming a showcase band.

Freeman stresses that FREEMAN is more about renewal than turning his back on the past. I want this record to pay homage to Ween, he says. These are the same songs I would've written in Ween-except without [ex-bandmate] Mickey. Several tracks hark back to the role-playing that was a hallmark of Freeman's back-catalog: (For a While) I Couldn't Play My Guitar Like a Man, a badass blues-rock meditation on lost mojo; or Black Bush, a trippy, heavily stylized ode to the natural beauty of Freeman's recently adopted hometown of Woodstock.

But there's also a fresh perspective here, the sound of a shadow lifting. Delicate Green, which savors life's everyday blessings, is one of the sweetest, most sincere songs Freeman has written. And All the Way to China and El Shaddai reference Jewish texts-Kabbalah readings and James A. Michener's The Source, respectively-that guided him through his darkest times. There's a lot of spiritual stuff on here because that really helped me, Freeman says. I listened to a lot of reggae-'Jah gonna help me through Babylon,' you know? I listened to a lot of Paul McCartney too, and I thought, if he can do this, break up the fucking Beatles, I can certainly break up Ween and be okay.

Aaron Freeman has also turned his back on substance abuse, a fact that might concern fans who mistake intoxication for inspiration. I wrote the songs I wrote in Ween despite all the drugs and alcohol I was doing, not because, Freeman says. Most people don't get sobriety at all. They assume you're this better-than-thou monk sitting on a mountain, judging everybody. It's not that way: You have to let everybody do their thing, and you get weirder. A song like FREEMAN's Golden Monkey, which rivals Ween's underrated Quebec for sheer mind-warping brilliance, proves Freeman's point.

In order to get to FREEMAN, Aaron Freeman had to make a clean break. If I hadn't left my partnership, there wouldn't be anything, he explains. I'd probably be dead too. I know that at the end of the day, this is the best thing I could've done for me and for every Ween fan. FREEMAN, an album that distills the Aaron Freeman aesthetic-built on equal parts wonder and malaise, frankness and mysticism, defiance and vulnerability-to its headiest essence, proves his point. This man, known for so long by another name, is finally free.

    12 Golden Country Greats

1996s 12 Golden Country Greats is the Pennsylvania duos 5th full-length but the first to stick to just one style which was, surprisingly enough, country music. That said, the title of the album is only half-correct as theres actually only 10 songs here. Featuring some of Nashvilles greatest session musicians (including Pig Robbins, Charlie McCoy, and the Jordanaires), this is one of Weens finest records to date, with that classic Ween sense of humor filtered through a distinct countrypolitan sound.

    The Mollusk

1997s The Mollusk is yet another sign that Ween just got better and better with each record it's arguably their most concise and well-honed to date. After the previous years exercise in country music (12 Golden Country Greats) the duo returns to its usual genre jumping, though there is a heavy focus on prog-rock. Often nautically themed and, as always, way smarter than theyre given credit for, The Mollusk is one of the highest points in a brilliant catalog.

Ween's fourth album, originally released in 1994, is perhaps their finest moment, a brilliant mix of twisted humor and pure pop genius. Ween draw influence from smooth 70s soul, psych, soft rock, spaghetti westerns, country, funk, indie-rock and more to the point where each song is a spot-on take on a different genre with their silliness being the uniting element. Oracular Spectacular

Despite being founded in Connecticut by Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden in 2002, MGMT from the start sounded more Brooklyn than Bedford Avenue. Their productions are hard to describe, but if you mix psychedelic with proto-electro punk, shake it up with art noise and add some indie-pop, you just might have got the picture.

Oracular Spectacular is the first major label studio album by MGMT and ultimately enjoyed both critical approval and commercial success, with the album selling over 500,000 copies in the U.S. and going platinum in Australia, the U.K., and Ireland. Oracular Spectacular features MGMT's signature song Kids, the funky track Electric Feel (famously covered by Weezer) and the smashing opening track Time to Pretend. The tunes sound classic and new all at once, paying homage to Bowie, the Kinks, and the Stones, while updating traditional progressions with flashes of Royal Trux, Ween, and LCD Soundsystem.

Oracular Spectacular was named the best album of 2008 by NME and In 2009, Rolling Stone named it the 18th-best album of the decade.

    GodWeenSatan: Live

Uncertain whether or not to cancel their re-release party for GodWeenSatan: The Oneness on Sept. 14, 2001, just days after the tragic events of 9/11, Ween took the stage at their local bar, John & Peter's, in New Hope, PA. What unfolded was pure catharsis for both the band and the packed crowd. Ween ran through the album in its entirety and captured the show on 24-track tape. Tally All The Things That You Broke

Tally All The Things That You Broke, an EP by Parquet Courts
is released on What's Your Rupture? Tally is far more
than a stopgap in between full-lengths; it's the sound of Parquet
    Courts stretching out.

Opener "You've Got Me Wonderin' Now," with its melodic
drive and persistent Flutophone running alongside the melody,
balances the manic tendencies of "Descend (The Way)," which
would have fit on Light Up Gold, and extended rager "The More
It Works," which would fit in a live set between Tyvek and Eddy
Current Suppression Ring. "Fall On Yr Face" presents a classic
desert trawler, lopsided and tuneful, the sound of the end of a
long day. But the day is just beginning for the protagonist of
"He's Seein' Paths," junkyard drum loops and doorbell samples
    framing Andrew Savage's eight-minute stream-of-consciousness
rap about the trials and tribulations of a marijuana delivery
service representative, zipping around the city on his bike.
Simultaneously the link between Parquet Courts and Ween, or
Parquet Courts and Beck, it frames the band coming from a
new place, and is a post-millennial NYC anthem, quintessential
sounds for anyone who's ever waited in anticipation of dialing
that number, or anyone who's put on their game face and rode
from point A to point B in the snarl of vicious traffic.

    12 Golden Country Greats (Colored)

    Marble Saddle Brown Vinyl

1996 release 12 Golden Country Greats is the Pennsylvania duo's 5th full-length but the first to stick to just one style which was, surprisingly enough, country music. That said, the title of the album is only half-correct as there's actually only 10 songs here, why? You'll have to ask Dean and Gene that one. Featuring some of Nashville's greatest session musicians (including Pig Robbins, Charlie McCoy, and the Jordanaires), this is one of Ween's finest records to date, with that classic Ween sense of humor filtered through a distinct countrypolitan sound. A classic reissued on marbled saddle Brown vinyl!

    Introducing

As ringleader of great bands The Memories and White Fang, not to mention penning the "Burger TV" theme song for Burger Records, Free Weed (Rikky Gage) has built a sizable indie following that continues to veer mainstream. With Introducing, he is now positioned as ambassador of the legalize-it movement, having crafted a hit-repeat player that splices the freak power illumination of Ween with the catchy spirit of Loser-era Beck. Just look at his face...

The album is themed around Free Weed''s love of marijuana and his digitally well-documented bacchanal lifestyle. No twigs, no seeds to be had, Introducing is all killer, no filler, never sputtering into stoner novelty. This is an album to boost your happiness and lower your inhibitions. The album's pedigree extends to being mastered by Mikey Young, member of requisite Aussie outfit Total Control, with cover art by ever-talented Dustyn Peterman of San Diego art collective Mushroom Necklace (Ty Segall; Thee Oh Sees).

    Uncontrollable - Leave Me Alone

    Blue Colored Vinyl

Many artists struggle to establish their musical identity; Nick Oliveri has forged his through a long career of hard work and full command over his craft and his music. His new album, 'LEAVE ME ALONE', is a powerfully captivating proof of his multi-talented personality. Recorded at Thunder Underground Studios in Palm Springs, CA. Oliveri plays all the instruments on this recording, including drums, guitar, bass and vocals. It features guitar solos from some special guests though, namely Phil Campbell from MOTORHEAD, Dean Ween (a.k.a. Mickey Moist) from WEEN and MOISTBOYZ, Stephen Haas from MOISTBOYZ, Mike Pygmie from MONDO GENERATOR, Marc Diamond from THE DWARVES and Bruno Fevery from KYUSS LIVES! and VISTA CHINO. There's also a guest vocal by Blag Dahlia from THE DWARVES. Produced by Oliveri himself, recorded by Harper Hug and Trevor Whatever, and mixed by Mathias Schneeberger the album will be released on Schnitzel Records via Cobraside on September 16, 2014. Nick Oliveri will be touring (live line-up Stephen Haas on guitar plus Joey Castillo on drums) North America, Europe and Australia this autumn. Full tour dates to follow. But you can put the October 31st Halloween show at the Forum in LA in your diary: The End of the Road Queens of the Stone Age with The Kills, JD McPherson and Nick Oliveri's Uncontrollable.

    Dead Zone Boys

Dead Zone Boys, the third album from Jookabox (Indianapolis-born David Moose Adamson and Co.), is love story meets psychedelic zombie-musical. The zombie part came easy: Moose grew up on the east side of Indianapolis in the 90s, an area plagued by constant recession, pandemic homicide, and racial tension. It was this frantic energy and violence that infused itself into the Jookabox experience while musically nodding to early Ween, Black Sabbath, and fellow Indiana native, the King of Pop.

    TigerFace (Awaiting Repress)

Over three previous studio albums, pianist/sound-sculptor/songwriter Marco Benevento has set forth a vision for instrumental music that connects the dots between Explosions In The Sky and Tortoise on one side, Brian Eno and Brad Mehldau on the other. On his fourth studio recording, 'Tigerface', the 34-year old artist takes the next step forward in this evolution. Benevento paints his songs in a myriad of sonic colors, shimmering in acoustic piano, synths and analog keyboards. The tunes themselves conceptualized from seemingly every wisp of melody, hook and cadence that s ever tickled his ear. The album was recorded and mixed by Tom Biller (Silversun Pickups, Fiona Apple) and Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Akron/Family), while Benevento invited a stellar cast of musicians to help capture his ideas, including drummers Matt Chamberlain (Bill Frisell, Pearl Jam), John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea & The Cake) and Andrew Barr (The Barr Brothers), bassists Dave Dreiwitz (Ween), Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green) and Mike Gordon (Phish), violinist Ali Helnwein (Traction Avenue Chamber Orchestra) and saxophonist Stuart Bogie (Antibalas, Superhuman Happiness). For the first time on record he uses vocals, inviting Kalmia Traver (Rubblebucket) to sing on the infectious dance rock rave-up 'Limbs Of A Pine' and the pastoral psych rock meditation 'This Is How It Goes'. Other standouts include the angelic Arcade Fire meets The Flaming Lips anthem 'Eagle Rock', the soaring garage psychadelia of 'Going West', the piano riff rock jaunt 'Escape Horse', and the happily lilting 'Fireworks', which bounces along like a long lost Italian folk song beamed down to him by ancestors from his father s homeland. As anybody who's seen Benevento perform live can attest, the pianist eyes closed, smile wide across his face, fingers free-flowing across the keys is a satellite to the muse. 'Tigerface', indeed, is the commitment to this idea; a record that rides the yes wave and in the process becomes a soundtrack for fellow travelers chasing the horizon ahead.
