    Wanda Jackson

    Includes 4 Bonus Tracks!

Like many other young recording artists of the late 1950s, especially those on major labels, Wanda Jackson was encouraged to straddle musical genres as a hedge against changing trends. She was an accomplished rockabilly singer, but Capitol Records must have worried about how long rockabilly was going to stay popular, so Wanda Jackson has the singer cutting tracks in several other styles -- most frequently country. Her rockabilly fans may have been surprised to hear her first full-length album, which leaned more toward country and also showed off her affinity for straight pop. True, she did cover Long Tall Sally and Money, Honey, and she did a particularly raucous version of Let's Have a Party (which surprisingly took off for the pop Top 40 two years after the album's release). But more typical of the sound of the album overall were her versions of Kitty Wells' Making Believe and Don Everly's Here We Are Again, traditional country material, and she even tried her hand at Patti Page's 1954 hit Let Me Go, Lover!, a pop ballad. Add it all up, and you had one versatile singer, able to sing convincingly anything that was thrown at her...

    Rockin' With Wanda!

    Includes 4 bonus tracks!

Long unavailable on vinyl, this quintessential collector's edition includes Jackson's third LP, Rockin' With Wanda! originally released in 1960. Her finest album, it contains a dozen sides waxed between 1956 and 1959. Included are the iconic rockabilly hits, Fujiyama Mama, Honey Bop, Hot Dog! That Made Him Mad, Rock Your Baby, and the self-penned Mean Mean Man. In contrast, You've Turned to a Stranger is sung as a twangy country ballad, and I Gotta Know splits in time between rockabilly and waltz. The great Buck Owens adds world-class guitar picking and hot licks, and on some cuts, her own band, The Poe Kats, are captured with black rockabilly keyboardist Big Al Downing. Also featuring accompaniment by Joe Maphis and Ralph Mooney, among other luminaries, Wanda Jackson is utterly authoritative on everything she sings.

In addition to this sensational LP, we have included 4 bonus tracks from the same period. This great material represents the cream of the crop from Jackson's hitmaking stretch for the Capitol label during her most inspired years. All of these original gems - which have been brilliantly remastered to achieve the most pristine sound - are simple two-and-a-half-minute songs that convey all the sheer power and emotion of rock & roll.

You Know I'm No Good/Shakin' All Over

New music from the ''Queen of Rockabilly'', Ms. Wanda Jackson. In an era when rock and roll and rockabilly was dominated by men, Jackson was a groundbreaker who more than held her own with a ripping voice like no other and hard-headed songs about no-nonsense female protagonists. Her career has spanned rockabilly, rock and roll, country and gospel and she's shared stages with all the greats from Elvis Presley to Jerry Lee Lewis.

The first two songs from the Wanda Jackson / Jack White recording sessions will be released on vinyl on January 26. The Third Man Records-released tracks will feature Jackson's cover of Amy Winehouse's ''You Know I'm No Good'' and 1960s British rock band Johnny Kidd and the Pirates' ''Shakin' All Over.''

The Queen of Rockabilly went to Nashville in November to record with White, who has produced albums for the Von Bondies, Whirlwind Heat, the Greenhornes and Dexter Romweber Duo. He also produced country legend Loretta Lynn's Grammy Award-winning album, Van Lear Rose, in 2004.

    Town Hall Party 1958

Just turned 21 and beautiful beyond words, Wanda Jackson ripped through a red-hot, live Town Hall Party rockabilly session in 1958 that helped define the parameters of this raw, young music. Discovered singing on an Oklahoma radio station only two years earlier by honky-tonk recording star Hank Thompson and encouraged to cut loose musically by genre superstar/touring partner (and onetime boyfriend) Elvis Presley, Jackson was a perfect fit for Town Hall Party, the Los Angeles-based TV show that had already welcomed sets by rockin' luminaries Gene Vincent, Carl Perkins and Eddie Cochran. Backed by old friend and King of the Strings guitarist Joe Maphis, Jackson was in her element for the Town Hall Party session, tearing into Mean, Mean Man, a career-defining tune she'd recorded only a few months earlier. Highlights of Jackson's set also include Rock Your Baby, her current Capitol Records single, and Alone (With You), a Faron Young chart-topper, as well as her show-stopping finale, Jackson roaring through Hard Headed Woman, a scorcher from Elvis' current movie, King Creole. Jackson would soon become a substantial force on the country music charts, specializing in aching, honky tonk ballads for the rest of her career. Still touring today to rabid fan reaction, Jackson has never forgotten her red-hot rockabilly roots. And no live session ever caught Wanda Jackson as wild and rocking as she was on Town Hall Party in 1958, now available on Sundazed's high-definition, ten-inch vinyl.

If I've Only One Time Askin'

Not quite country, Americana, folk, singer-songwriter or pop, Daniel Romano's exquisite and expansive new album, If I've Only One Time Askin', due July 31 on New West Records, is pieces of each, but ultimately the work of a singular mind. Already hailed by Rolling Stone, the 11 new self-produced and largely self-performed songs "lead their baritone-voiced creator down a path filled with countrypolitan crooning, honky-tonk heartache and mid-century melodrama." When no label could encapsulate his myriad creative threads and styles, Romano created his own: Mosey. In the two years since his critically acclaimed third full-length, Come Cry With Me, Romano has toured North America and Europe extensively, supporting and collaborating with a wide spectrum of artists from Old Crow Medicine Show, Wanda Jackson, Hurray For The Riff Raff, and Caitlin Rose. In 2015, Romano again hits the road, touring globally, carrying the low, lonesome sound of Mosey with him.

    All Or Nothin'

For her hotly anticipated sophomore album Nashville
songstress Nikki Lane teamed up with Dan Auerbach
of the Black Keys for a record that turns the vulnerable
singer-songwriter stereotype on its ears. With songs
that crucify ex-boyfriends, celebrate one-night stands
(as long as she can bolt town right after) and proclaim
it's "always the right time to do the wrong thing," Lane
comes across like a modern-era Wanda Jackson, albeit
with more oats to sow. "My songs always paint a pretty
clear picture of what's been going on in my life, so this
is one moody record," she says. "There's lots of talk of
    misbehaving and moving on."

Thunder On The Mountain/ Dust On The Bible

Third Man and Nonesuch Records announced the release of the new album, The Party Aint Over, from Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Wanda Jackson earlier this fall. They are now proud to bring you the single Thunder On The Mountain b/w Dust On The Bible.

Known around the globe as ''The Queen Of Rock'' and ''The First Lady Of Rockabilly,'' Wanda Jackson has joined with friend and producer Jack White, to bring you this latest taste of her signature flavor. The tracks feature Jack White. Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather/The Greenhornes/The Raconteurs), Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket), Patrick Keeler (The Greenhornes, Raconteurs), Ashley Monroe, Jackson Smith and Karen Elson, to name just a few.

''Thunder On The Mountain'' is a particularly exceptional track. Originally penned by Bob Dylan and chosen for Mrs. Jackson by the poet himself, his rockabilly fever dream is given new life by the songstress.

    I Remember Elvis

Wanda Jackson was a mere 16 years old when she cut her first single, but while she was a better than average country crooner from the start, it wasn't until the summer of 1956 that Jackson began to sing like the force of nature now recognized as the first great female rocker. A few things happened to Jackson during that two-year stretch between her recorded debut and her shift into high gear, and one of them was meeting Elvis Presley, who was still recording for Sun when she first played a show with him on July 20, 1955. Jackson generously acknowledges that Elvis taught her how to bring out her inner rock & roller, and they were close friends for years (and for a little while boyfriend and girlfriend). On this album, Jackson pays homage to the Hillbilly Cat by covering 13 songs associated with Elvis, most dating from his days at Sun or from the early years of his tenure with RCA, along with one new song, I Wore Elvis' Ring, and two spoken word cuts in which she shares her memories of Presley. For the most part, the production and arrangements are in the classic rockabilly mode, with guitarist and producer Danny B. Harvey, drummer Clem Burke, and veteran pianist Don Randi playing with skill and high style without getting in the way of the star of the show, and while Jackson's voice has started to show some slight signs of wear, she dives into these tunes with audible enthusiasm and a great feel for the material. Jackson brings her own style and personality to these songs, no small accomplishment, and while her phrasing leans toward the honky tonk material that dominated the greatest part of her career, her performances reveal what she learned from Elvis as well as what she found in her own musical personality when she embraced the joys of rock & roll. I Remember Elvis is something short of revelatory, but it is a sincere and loving tribute to an influential artist from someone who learned from him first-hand, and it proves that Jackson is still the Queen of Rock & Roll just as much as Elvis remains the King. Fine stuff.

Bathtub Love Killings is the debut solo LP from Olivia Jean, the
multi-instrumentalist who cut her teeth in the Third Man stable backing
folks as varied as Karen Elson, Wanda Jackson and Jack White in
addition to fronting the much-loved Black Belles. Jean has accrued a
lifetime of experience in a few short years, from highlight performances
on The Colbert Report, Conan, Late Show With David Letterman and
the Grand Old Opry stage to having one of her songs used as the
theme for the television series Elvira's Movie Macabre.

Produced by Jack White, Bathtub Love Killings showcases Jean as a
songwriting force to be reckoned with. Playing damn-near every instrument

    Detour

Cyndi Lauper's celebrated musical journey takes an unexpected southern turn on DETOUR, her 11th studio album, which finds the Grammy®, Emmy® and Tony®-winning singer-songwriter putting her signature spin on a dozen classic country songs.

DETOUR showcases Lauper's unmistakable voice on country classics from the '40s, '50s and '60s and features guest appearances from county music stars Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Willie Nelson. Lauper recorded the album in Nashville alongside a band comprised of the city's top session players.

The album is Lauper's first for Sire Records (Rhino) and is executive produced by legendary Sire founder, Seymour Stein.

Lauper says recording a country album is something she's dreamed about for many years. Growing up, she recalls listening to singers like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Wanda Jackson in her Aunt Gracie's kitchen. When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to. These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them.

Lauper sounds right at home from the start, beginning with the album opener, Funnel Of Love, a track Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly, recorded in 1960. Another highlight is the rollicking take on Heartaches By The Number, a country standard previously covered by everyone from George Jones to Waylon Jennings to Dwight Yoakum. DETOUR also features stunning covers of two classic Pasty Cline songs, Walkin' After Midnight and her #1 smash, I Fall To Pieces. Lauper says, I spent a lot of time in my room singing with Patsy. I had to sing a Patsy Cline song - or two - because her voice was like one of my girlfriends. That's how close I felt to her.

For the album, Lauper duets with several special guests, including country music royalty: Emmylou Harris (on the title track), Willie Nelson (Night Life, a song he wrote over 50 years ago), Vince Gill (Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty's You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly) and Alison Krauss (Dolly Parton's Hard Candy Christmas. Jewel also makes an appearance on DETOUR, showcasing her prodigious yodeling skills on I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart, which was the first country song by a woman to sell one million copies.

    The Blade

Ashley Monroe spent her childhood in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she immersed herself in all varieties of music ranging from country-she's not-too-distantly related to members of the legendary Carter Family-to rock, pop, rap and even opera. When she was 11, Monroe won a talent contest singing "I Want To Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" and two years later her father gave Ashley her first guitar. She developed a passion for writing songs, discovering that she could easily communicate her thoughts and sentiments through a six-string and her dynamic, exceptional voice.

In 2008, Ashley cut a highly praised EP with singer-songwriter Trent Dabbs and a few years later, at the invitation of Jack White, she sang background vocals on an album he was producing by the iconic country-rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson. And just to prove how versatile she is, Monroe also contributed vocals to the track "Bruises" on the 2012 album California 37 by the rock band Train.
But one of the most rewarding artistic adventures for Ashley to date has been the Pistol Annies, a trio she co-formed in 2011with her friend Miranda Lambert, whose chart-topping hit "Heart Like Mine" Ashley co-penned, and newcomer Angaleena Presley. Pistol Annies have provided Monroe with yet another outlet for her music. Their album, Hell on Heels, garnered rave reviews. The All Music Guide called the trio "a remarkably democratic supergroup" while veteran music critic Robert Christgau gave the album an A grade, citing its "expertly executed tunes."

Featuring Special Guest Sheryl Crow On Little Bit Of Rust

"I hit a wall," says Will Hoge. "I was doing the best touring of my career and I had a great, steady gig writing songs, but I was falling out of love with being in a band. I had to figure out what was next."

For Hoge, what came next was a quest to reclaim the joy and the magic that had drawn him to music in the first place. He let his band go and hit the road for roughly a year of solo shows, crisscrossing the country by himself with just a guitar and a keyboard. He felt rejuvenated by the freedom and began writing material that reenergized him, that made him feel like a kid falling in love with rock and roll all over again. Those songs ignited a dormant flame somewhere deep within his soul, and now they form the bulk of Anchors, his strongest and most nuanced album to date.

Recorded with an all-star band comprised of drummer Jerry Roe (Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, Darius Rucker), bassist Dominic Davis (Jack White, Wanda Jackson), and guitarists Brad Rice (Son Volt, Ryan Adams) and Thom Donovan (Lapush, Ruby Amanfu), the album is a prime showcase for Hoge's soaring, gritty vocals, as well as his remarkable gift for crafting complex characters with real emotional depth and plainspoken profundity. Over the course of eleven tracks (including one with special guest Sheryl Crow), Hoge weaves elements of vintage country, literate folk, and heartland rock into a passionate, genre-busting masterpiece, one that offers an unflinching portrait of the messy challenges of adulthood and the ways in which we persevere (or don't) through hard times.

Beginning with the release of his acclaimed 2001 debut, Carousel, Hoge established himself as a masterful songwriter and performer as well as a critical favorite, with Rolling Stone comparing him to Bob Seger and John Mellencamp and NPR praising his "sharp, smart, passionate rock 'n' roll that seems to exist out of time." He built up a loyal fanbase the old fashioned way, maintaining a steady studio output and a relentless touring schedule of more than 200 shows a year, including bills with the likes of My Morning Jacket, the Black Crowes, and Drive-By Truckers, in addition to festival slots from Bonnaroo to Austin City Limits. In 2012, the Eli Young Band hit #1 on the Billboard Country chart with their Platinum-selling recording of Hoge's song "Even If It Breaks Your Heart," earning Hoge nominations for CMA, ACM, and GRAMMY Awards. Soon he was performing everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry to The Late Show with David Letterman, his music was soundtracking a high-profile Chevy truck campaign, and he'd signed a major publishing deal.

When the inspiration ran dry, though, Hoge took a gamble on himself and walked away from it all in order to pursue the kind of art that truly moved him, to make something that mattered. If Anchors is any indication, it was a safe bet indeed.

"Dex Romweber was and is a huge influence on my music. I owned all of his records as a teenager, and was thrilled at the fact that we were able to play together recently on tour. [He is] is one of the best kept secrets of the rock n roll underground." -Jack White, White Stripes

For a quarter century, Dex Romweber has trolled the dark corners and back shelves of the haunted thrift store of Americana ephemera and honed an extraordinarily idiomatic sound, a particular and readily identifiable DEXness for those in the know. It's a creepy doll collection of surf, proto-rockabilly, garage, dark and vengeful blues, and nobody, but nobody, plays it like Dex. First with the legendary Flat Duo Jets and now with his Duo, Dex distilled the punk ethos of less-is-more to the essential guitar/drums template. Left in the wake of his lecherous and slithery Silvertone were early acolytes like Jack White, Neko Case, and the Reigning Sound as well as a current crop of the indie pack like Ty Segall, No Age, Japandroids, and The Black Keys. All owe an unclaimed pawn ticket of debt to his sublime and spine-tingling sound. He is a live wire back to the murky, sometimes dangerous and always unpredictable headwaters of real rock and roll.

Dex, with his whip-wristed sister Sara Romweber on drums, take Images 13 through neon-lit alleys, full of pulp fiction juvey rock, sci-fi theme songs and greasy denim hipster jive. Effortlessly versatile and raucously dismissive of genre constraints, exciting and darkly romantic, Images 13 would make everyone from Duane Eddy to Stan Kenton to Lenny Bruce crack a smile, a joke or the seal on a fifth of rye and head for the Naugahyde ice bucket.

Recorded at Rick Miller's (Southern Culture on the Skids) Kudzu Ranch studio in North Carolina, the album bristles with a sense of drama, of tension, of release, of mystery. "Roll On" and "Long Battle Coming" display the cinematic sleaze nestled between The Cramps and West Side Story. Eerie ballads "Baby I Know What It's Like to be Alone" and "I Don't Want to Listen" reveal the crooning, bruised romantic, the harsh morning light of a strange hotel room, a Raymond Chandler novel on the bedside table. "Beyond the Moonlight" is part sea shanty longing and part campfire revival. Then, just as easily, the instrumentals take center stage. "Blackout!" updates Henry Mancini's Peter Gunn theme with a dynamic tension and sly cool, and Dex and Sara attack the big waves off Maui with a chaotic rush on "Blue Surf" - his guitar guiding you into the sweet spot of the pipeline and her drums pounding you into the sand. Hey Tarantino, wake up!

Digging into the skeleton-filled rock 'n' roll closet, Dex Romweber Duo comes up with some obscure and wonderful gems. The early Who track "So Sad About Us," featuring Mary Huff (SCOTS) on vocals, hits an uncharacteristically sunny power pop vibe. The hopeful "We'll Be Together Again" written by Eddie Cochran's girlfriend Sharon Sheeley about his death in a car accident (that she and Gene Vincent survived). The song was never released formally but recorded by Jackie DeShannon in the early '60s. Finishing up the album is the music of Harry Lubin, who did theme music for shows like The Outer Limits and One Step Beyond. "Weird (Aurora Borealis)" is the music from the latter when ghosts, UFO's, or odd paranormal experiences begin to rear their strange heads, complete with tribal drums and Melissa Swingle (Trailer Bride, The Moaners) on the saw.

Flat Duo Jets - so often emulated, so rarely duplicated - released the first of nine albums in 1990 to rave reviews worldwide. They starred, alongside R.E.M. and The B-52s, in the 1987 cult classic film Athens, GA: Inside/Out. Their first national tour in 1990 was as opening act for The Cramps and they made a stunning impression on Late Night with David Letterman. Dex Romweber Duo's first record Ruins of Berlin featured guest appearances by Neko Case, Cat Power, and Exene Cervenka. Dex was name-checked by Jack White in the guitar superstar documentary It Might Get Loud, and the Duo recorded a single and live album with White for his label Third Man Records in 2009. Subsequently, the Duo has shared the stage with dozens of rock icons including Wanda Jackson, Cat Power, Neko Case, and The White Stripes. In 2012, the documentary about Dex's sometimes harrowing career Two Headed Cow was released.
