    Together At Last

Together At Last is a new album by songwriter and guitarist Jeff Tweedy. It features the Wilco bandleader performing eleven of his own songs, culled from the Wilco catalog as well as from side-projects Loose Fur and Golden Smog, in a solo acoustic setting. Recorded at Tweedy's Chicago recording studio The Loft, Together At Last showcases Tweedy's accomplished and intricate guitar playing and his expressive, plaintive voice, and while audiences have experienced Tweedy live onstage as a solo performer for years, this is the first studio recording of its kind for the acclaimed musician.

    Sukierae

Tweedy, the band, is a collaboration between Jeff Tweedy, best known as the
founder of the pioneering Chicago rock band Wilco, and his 18-year-old son
and drummer Spencer Tweedy. dBpm Records in conjunction with ANTI will release Sukierae (sue-key-ray), the debut release by
the aptly-monikered duo Tweedy. Sukierae features 20 new songs penned by
Jeff, performed by Tweedy father and son along with a host of musical guests.
"When I set out to make this record, I imagined it being a solo thing, but not
in the sense of one guy strumming an acoustic guitar and singing," Jeff said.
"Solo to me meant that I would do everything - write the songs, play all the
instruments and sing. But Spencer's been with me from the very beginning
demo sessions, playing drums and helping the songs take shape. In that sense,
the record is kind of like a solo album performed by a duo." With Spencer
on drums, Jeff handles his usual guitars and vocals, as well as bass and keyboards. Backing vocals on Sukierae come courtesy of Jess Wolfe and Holly
Laessig of the Brooklyn-band Lucius. Musician Scott McCaughey (R.E.M.,
The Minus Five, The Baseball Project) lends additional keyboard support on
    Sukierae.

    One True Vine

Coming off the huge success of her first collaboration with Wilco frontman
Jeff Tweedy - the Grammy winning You Are Not Alone - Mavis Staples
wanted to make their second album together both a continuation of the
joyous spirit of the first, and an evolution. With new song offerings from
Alan Sparhawk of Low, Nick Lowe, and three new Tweedy originals, One True
Vine is at once a darker and more uplifting album, anchored by reinventions
of two 70s classics - Funkadelic's "Can You Get to That?" and the Staples
Singer's "I Like the Things About Me." Tweedy and Staples have constructed
a dense narrative arc, that starts with the literal soulsearching of Sparhawk's
"One Holy Ghost" and Tweedy's "Jesus Wept," and then breaks wide open
with Nick Lowe'ssoaring "Far Celestial Shores," a song he wrote for Mavis
after touring together with Wilco. After that, the album builds to full tent
revival mode, as the dark night of the soul passes and joy arrives in the form
of Mavis' glorious voice. Closing out with Tweedy's rapturoustitle track,
One True Vine truly builds on the promise of You Are Not Alone, and will
delight the myriad fans discovering Mavis for the first time though her
Grammy wins and performances, her White House performance in the
tribute to Memphis Soul, and the glorious second act of this American icon.

    Schmilco

Chicago band Wilco's 10th studio album, Schmilco, features 12 new songs written by Jeff Tweedy and is the band's third release on their own dBpm Records. It follows Star Wars, which was released for free and as a surprise in July 2015.

Mostly an acoustic collection, Schmilco bears neither the vicious, fuzz-glam guitars of Star Wars, nor the dazzling, baroque-ish arrangements that fans have come to expect from Wilco. But in their place is a spaciousness and chaos that might feel welcome after 20-some years of enjoyed but now-familiar Wilco releases. It is an intentionally loose affair.

Schmilco finds band leader Tweedy in a state of alienation: how to cope with dissonance between self-identity and the public perception of his band - to maintain an innocence and earnestness even as some have come to see him as more (or less) than human, and Wilco as something other than six musicians?

"I think this record is 'joyously negative'," Tweedy said. "It's sad in a lot of ways but not in any that reach a conclusion of doom or hopelessness I just had a lot of fun being sour about the things that upset me."

On Thursday, Wilco shared "Locator" from the forthcoming album and today shares "If I Ever Was A Child." Both songs are available as an instant download upon pre-ordering the album in the band's store, on iTunes or Amazon.

Recorded at the band's Chicago studio the Loft, Schmilco is produced by Jeff Tweedy and Tom Schick.

Wilco is Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Nels Cline, Glenn Kotche, Patrick Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen.

    You Are Not Alone

Soul Gospel Legend at the Top of Her Game: Staples Declared Best Artist at 2010's Lollapalooza Festival

Hallelujah: You Are Not Alone Might Be the Best New Album You Hear in 2010

Stellar Set Produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy and Features Songs by Allen Toussaint, John Fogerty, Tweedy, Randy Newman, and More

The best album you hear in 2010? You Are Not Alone will be at the top of the list. This is music that's timeless, soulful, and pertinent, performed with an energy and commitment that burns with the same level of conviction as Mavis Staples' belief in a higher power. Here's a record that will change your life and elevate your mood. Just as its two main architects intended.

When Wilco leader Jeff Tweedy and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Mavis Staples sat down to talk about what they wanted her new album to sound like, they both turned to the original spiritual roots of the Staples Singers as a backbone. Both wanted to make a record about connection, about reaching out to someone through the power of music. What they achieved is the album of Staples' career, a warm, powerful, spiritual, and fervent collection of brilliantly chosen and interpreted songs.

Produced by fellow Chicagoan Jeff Tweedy at Wilcos studio The Loft, the intimate and textured production--glorious on LP--mixes traditional gospel numbers with two new songs written for Mavis by Tweedy, plus her unique interpretations of songs by Pops Staples, Randy Newman, Allen Toussaint, John Fogerty, Rev. Gary Davis and Little Milton. Backed by Mavis smoking touring band (Rick Holmstrom, guitar, vocals; Jeff Turmes, bass, vocals; Stephen Hodges, drums; Donny Gerrard, background vocals) and featuring guest turns from Tweedy and Wilcos Patrick Sansone, with background vocals by Kelly Hogan and Nora OConnor, the album cradles Mavis exquisite voice, allowing her to stretch out emotionally on tracks like Randy Newmans Losing You and the Creedence Clearwater Revival chesnut Wrote a Song For Everyone.

The two songs Jeff wrote for Mavis meld seamlessly into the vibe and theme of the album: He would listen to my conversations, my words, and then feed off that. The songs he wrote take me places I wouldnt normally go, says Mavis.

Already one of the bestâ€received releases of 2010, Mavis message of joy and redemption has found the setting it has always deserved. Truly, a must-own album that will last you a lifetime.

    Summerteeth

+ Full Length CD - LP Cut from Original Masters and Pressed at Pallas in Germany!

With their 1999 release Summerteeth, Wilco transcended the alt-country confines of their acclaimed earlier albums and created what Jeff Tweedy called a kind of a twisted pop record, a dark pop record. While staying true to its back-porch groove and plain-spoken poetry, one of the most admired alternative bands anywhere took yet another step forward here by taking on the art of classic pop music. The lush string arrangements and gorgeous harmonies of tracks like She's a Jar and Pieholden Suite suggest nothing less than a landlocked Brian Wilson, while more straightforward rockers like the opener I Can't Stand It bear the influence of everything from R&B to psychedelia. Still, for all of the warmth and beauty of the record's arrangements, Tweedy's songs here are perhaps his darkest and most haunting to date, where even the sunniest melodies mask moments of devastating power.

    March 16-20, 1992

March 16-20, 1992 is the third release from the alt-country pioneers Uncle Tupelo, named in reference to the five-day span in which the album was recorded. Produced by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck at John Keene Studios in Athens, GA, the almost entirely acoustic 15-song set is split equally between material written by Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy and traditional Appalachian folk songs.

Although the album's originals offer up early warnings of the growing differences between the two gifted songwriters with Farrar's earnest fare and Tweedy's more nihilistic leanings, the pristine sounding March 16-20, 1992 single-handedly re-energized rock's return to traditional country origins and forever solidified Uncle Tupelo as the boldest and brightest purveyors of the alt-country movement.

Richard Thompson has announced his newest solo album Still, which will be released via Fantasy. The record will be produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.

Tweedy stated in a press release, "Richard's been one of my favorite guitar players for a very long time. When I think about it, he's also one of my favorite songwriters and favorite singers. He's the Ultimate Triple Threat. Getting to work closely with him on this record was a truly rewarding experience, not to mention a great thrill. Sky Blue Sky

2-LP Wilco Set also Comes Complete with the CD of the Album!

It's been a while since the last offering from Jeff Tweedy and Co, but three years of slavering from fans is about to be rewarded with this seventh studio album. Well... Sky Blue Sky was well worth the wait! Though Wilco are known as purveyors of alt country rock, Sky Blue Sky is an astounding demonstration of their ability to move between soulful acoustic folk, jazzy blues, country skank and pumping rock. Tweedy has the vocal range of three people, from country lilt to blues ache to folk sweetness - all this often in the space of one song. And what songs they are. 'You Are My Face' is a classic Wilco segue, as a sleepy 'Beatles-esque' ditty is suddenly interrupted with a jazz guitar explosion twinned with Tweedy's achy blues voice before returning seamlessly to piano tinkle and smooth vocals. There are stories of love lost and found, told with originality, humour and sweetness. 'How can I warn you my tongue turns to dust? Lack of disgust doesn't mean that I don't care. It means I'm partially there,' sings Tweedy on the delicately beautiful 'Please Be Patient With Me'. The instrumentation is a mini-rock opera in itself. Glorious riffs, thumping piano and virtuoso guitar solos from Nels Cline are orchestrated with skill, complementing the intricately composed and woven melodies. Simple and soothing, yet rich and rewarding, this is an album you unknowingly yearn for, like a cool hand on a hot forehead. A great album from a band in their prime. Our highest recommedation!

Wilcos first studio album in three years, Sky Blue Sky, has been perhaps the most ardently awaited release of 07. Eager fans had taken to shouting out pleas for information to bandleader Jeff Tweedy during his recent solo acoustic tour, and the web chatter has been virtually deafening. Critic Katie Toms of Londons The Observer addressed fan speculation in an advance review, declaring, with unalloyed delight: Boy, was it worth the wait.... Simple and soothing, yet rich and rewarding, this is an album you unknowingly yearn for, like a cool hand on a hot forehead. A great album from a band in their prime.

Sky Blue Sky is as eloquently straightforward as Wilcos last studio recording, the Grammy-winning A Ghost Is Born, was daringly experimental. Tweedys lyrics deal forthrightly with romantic separation and reconciliation, their bittersweet quality giving way, as the album progresses, to a more uplifting, redemptive mood. Tweedy quite literally banishes the darkness on the penultimate track, the inspiring, gospel-tinged What Lightthe albums first singleand concludes with a deeply affecting, til-death-do-us-part lullaby, On and On and On.

There are hints of early-seventies Southern California folk-rock sweetness in the harmonies throughout the band-produced Sky Blue Sky, a bluesy Allman Brothers feel to the guitar /keyboard interplay, and plenty of brash guitar solos that take songs like You Are My Face and Shake It Off in thrilling, unexpected directions. This is especially good news for the crowds that will fill the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, this June, where the band plays the first U.S. date of its 2007 world tour in support of Sky Blue Sky. Principal songwriter Tweedy cut these tracks in the bands Chicago studio with members John Stirratt (bass, vocals), Glenn Kotche (drums), Mike Jorgensen (keyboards), Nels Cline (guitars) and Pat Sansone (guitars, keyboards, vocals)all of whom are also becoming notable performers in their own right. A Ghost Is Born co-producer Jim ORourke returns as music contributor.

Established from the ashes of alt-country legends Uncle Tupelo by Jeff Tweedy and other former members, Wilco was an apple that initially didn't fall too far from the tree. Their debut album, A.M. builds on the former group's brand of updated country-rock and emotionally charged songwriting, albeit with a more noticeable emphasis on the rock here. Many of the best creations on A.M. from the driver's-licenseless drunk in Passenger Side to the bar-band celebration of riverboat gambling on Casino Queen also sport an unprecedented sense of humor and playfulness that ultimately strengthens the songwriting and its appeal.

    So Much More

Dennen's soulful album is a folk rock revelation...if you're one of those Paul Simon fans who wish he'd return to 'Graceland' already, we've found just the tune for you. But it isn't exactly a 'Graceland' tribute; there are also shades of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. And the meditative 'I Asked When' is a positively Dylanesque protest song - Washington Post. The dude has a gift for hooks. But unlike Gavin DeGraw or Jason Mraz, Dennen has something to say, putting him closer to skilled songsmiths like Jeff Tweedy and Ray LaMontagne, who also combine seductive voices with relatable premises. Dennen's finely nuanced record gets more captivating with each listen - Paste.

    Mermaid Avenue Vol. II

ho knew that after the undeniable, sometimes shimmering, sometimes rustic magic of Mermaid Avenue that there was enough quality material for a second volume? By setting their own music to Woody Guthrie's lyrics, Billy Bragg and Wilco once again offer a 50-minute testament to Guthrie's long, dynamic shadow. This sophomore meeting is as balanced between the up-tempo and the down-tempo as was the first Mermaid. Jeff Tweedy's rasp gives all the Wilco-driven tunes a certain grit, and the songs Bragg takes on have a luminescent, frank earnestness that intensifies the delivery of Guthrie's lyrical social critiques. Hot Rod Hotel, with Bragg on the mic, melds the two approaches best, and Secret of the Sea is the CD's poppiest centerpiece--aptly aimed at radio airplay like the first Mermaid's California Stars. Natalie Merchant's playful I Was Born is brief but sweet, just as bluesman Corey Harris's Against the Law is an uplift, with his passionate vocal wail mirroring the political gist of Guthrie's words. The moody closers Black Wind Blowing and Someday, Some Morning, Sometime end Volume 2 with a pair of sweetly sad gems, one a Bragg-sung folk blues that mourns the loss of cotton crops in the American dustbowl era, the other a Tweedy-sung paean to lost love. At the dawn of a new millennium, with labor and the distribution of wealth as pressing historical issues that disrupt every International Monetary Fund and World Trade Organization soiree, the time is right for Woody. --Andrew Bartlett

    Mermaid Avenue Vol. III

When American folk legend Woody Guthrie died in 1967, at the age of 55, among his stored belongings were thousands of complete song lyrics for which he had not written out music or made recordings. Many of them had been written in the 1940s and '50s, in the Guthrie family home on Mermaid Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn. The lyrics remained in boxes for decades, but once his daughter Nora found them in the 1990s, she knew they had to be shared. She approached English singer-songwriter and activist Billy Bragg to select some to set to music. The Chicago rock band Wilco came aboard soon after, with Jeff Tweedy writing music-along with his late bandmate Jay Bennett on some songs-and the band recording with both Tweedy and Bragg on vocals. Natalie Merchant joined the group to sing a duet with Bragg and two solo songs, and guitarist/singer Corey Harris, who wrote two songs and co-wrote one, performed on many tracks.

In 1998, the first batch of songs was released to critical acclaim as Mermaid Avenue, receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album. This second volume followed in 2000. This third volume, released in conjunction with Mermaid Avenue: The Complete Sessions.

The soundtrack album includes classics from the 1960s and 1970s, such as Bob Dylan's "Shelter From The Storm" from the 1975 album Blood On The Tracks. Tweedy provides two songs: the funky "Everybody Hides" and the laid-back "Why, Why, Why". In between comes a contrasting classic, the straight-hitting vocals of Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody To Love". This was the band's first and biggest hit, a single from the album Surrealistic Pillow in 1967.

    Don't Lose This

In 1998, Roebuck "Pops" Staples recorded a final session, capping an
illustrious career as leader and patriarch of the Staples Singers. Unfinished
at the time of his passing in 2000, the tapes went to his daughter,
Mavis, who then waited for the right opportunity to finish the recording
in the spirit Pops intended. When she began her series of remarkable
collaborations with Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, starting with 2010's You Are Not
Alone and continuing with 2013's One True Vine, Mavis knew she had
found the person to work on her father's record. Mavis Staples: "I
chose this title because these were the words my father said to me as
he gave me the tape of his final recordings. He was sick and lying in
bed and asked me to play the record for him in his room. After listening
to it, he called me to his room again. He was weak, but he handed me
the tape and in a soft voice said 'Don't lose this, Mavis.' While Pops'
voice and guitar sounded so good on the original recordings [and remain
untouched on this record], I knew the songs needed something else to
really come to life. Something special. Pops deserved that. So I called
on my dear friend Jeff Tweedy to fill out the tracks around Pops and he's
helped to craft this beautiful album."

LP Cut from Original Masters and Pressed at Pallas in Germany!

Outtasite! Stunning 1996 Double Album Has Been Long Out-of-Print with Originals Fetching Hundreds of Dollars on eBay! Do Not Miss Out This Time!

Also Available: 180-gram LP Versions of Wilco's A.M. and Summerteeth CUT FROM ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES and Pressed at Pallas! Unbelievable Sound!

Motivated by leader Jeff Tweedys desire to improve on his bands debut A.M. and informed by numerous life circumstancesthe birth of his first child, a recent marriage, a new mortgage, and a decision to quit smoking potBeing There begins a cycle of creativity and ambition in Wilcos career that has yet to let up. Far more mature and advanced than anything Tweedy and Co. had done before, the eclectic double album finds the group moving beyond straightforward country-rock and embracing a gambit of styles that encompass power-pop, romantic balladry, barroom-brawling rock, and immersive psychedelia. A journey that is ultimately about finding solace in rock n roll, Being There is a seminal record in every sense. The album has only bettered with the passage of time.

Jay Bennett, a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who joined the band before the recording sessions, is also largely responsible for the artistic growth. His keen pop sensibilities and keyboard playing expand Wilcos core rootsy sound, while Tweedy pushes himself as a songwriter. Introspective, surreal, and personal, tunes such as the explosive Misunderstood and meditative Hotel Arizona signal the arrival of a singular talent coming to terms with his own anxiety, restlessness, and dreams. And the band is up to the challenge. In addition to blending myriad sounds, Wilco gets more comfortable with the studio and adorns several arrangements with horns, strings, and hand claps.

To preserve the musics spontaneous feel and accentuate the dynamic contrasts, Wilco practiced, rehearsed, and recorded one song a day. Nothing is overthought or overly polished. The production reflects these decisions. Sonics are warm, organic, loose, and noticeably real. Its no wonder that Tweedy successfully convinced Reprise to release Being There as a double album and sell it for the price of a single disc. To help make it happen, he personally volunteered to take a decreased royalty rate in exchange for the unconventional pricing and resultant revenue losses. Tweedys gamble paid off. And how.

Now, hear this absorbing double album in the highest-possible fidelity for the first time ever! Mastered from the original tapes and pressed at Germanys legendary Pallas facilities, this 180-gram 2-LP version of Being Here is guaranteed to beat every other available version. (Plus, it comes with a CD of the complete album: You can't lose.) But dont delay! Wilcos Reprise LPs have been fetching hundreds of dollars on EBay for years. Get yours from Music Direct today!

Wilco have not made your standard rock & roll road album. Tweedy's songs use the one-nighter clichÉs of Grand Funk Railroad's We're an American Band as a means of exploring deeper issues, particularly faith and commitment and how those qualities are tested by geographical and emotional distances. Being There is an album of parallel journeys that frequently overlap, a tour of the heart that becomes a search for renewal. -Greg Kot, Rolling Stone, October 1996

    Still Feel Gone

1991's Still Feel Gone is the sophomore release from the seminal alt-country group Uncle Tupelo which famously spawned both Jeff Tweedy's Wilco and Jay Farrar's Son Volt upon its demise. The least country sounding album of the band's four record output, Still Feel Gone's 13-tracks unceremoniously pay homage to their garage and punk-rock roots, offering what is arguably the best document of the full range of the band in the process.

From the country stomp of Looking for a Way Out, to the lap-steel driven Still Be Around and Watch Me Fall, through the Minutemen tribute D. Boon and the solitary shuffle of True to Life, Still Feel Gone finds Uncle Tupelo courageously using the momentum of their impressive debut to not only champion their influences but prove what they're truly capable of in terms of both sound and vision.

    Who Is The Sender

Bill Fay is one the greats" - Nick Cave

"The humble master of English song" - Uncut

"Bill Fay is now regarded as one of the great British songwriters" - MOJO

"A talent undimmed by decades away from the studio" - Guardian

Ask Bill Fay about his relationship with his instrument and he says something revealing, not "Ever since I learnt to play the piano," but "Ever since the piano taught me " What the piano taught him was how to connect to one of the great joys of his
life. "Music gives," he says. And he is a grateful receiver. But, it makes him wonder, "Who is the sender?" Fay - who after more than five decades writing songs is finally being appreciated as one of our finest living practitioners of the art - asserts that
songs aren't actually written but found. He recorded two phenomenal but largely
overlooked albums for Decca offshoot Nova in 1970 and 1971. After 27 years of neglect, people like Nick Cave, Jim O' Rourke, and Jeff Tweedy were praising those records in glowing terms. Recorded in Ray Davies' Konk Studios, North London, Who Is The Sender? sees Bill expanding upon themes he has touched on from the
beginning, spiritual and philosophical questions, observations about the natural world and the people in the city he has lived in all his life.

    Star Wars

Star Wars is the Grammy-award winning band's ninth studio album and its first since 2011's The Whole Love.

The new album was recorded at the band's Chicago loft and features 11 original Wilco-penned tunes. Wilco is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, and its label dBpm has recently released two anniversary-related collections: Alpha Mike Foxtrot, a box set of rarities and What's Your 20?, a compilation of studio tracks from the band's first eight albums.

"We've been feeling very fortunate lately being reminded of how long we've been able to do this," Tweedy said. "We believe one of the primary reasons for our good fortune has been our audiences reaction to our impulse to be heard and our habit of erring on the side of that desire to override financial ambition. Not that we don't enjoy getting paid. We do. But this is a recommitment to the idea that music is more important to our lives. Art is more worthy of our striving. And fun is more sustaining than cash. It's not intended to be a comment on the music business, just one band's wish to give our fans a jolt of joy: a fun surprise. In that spirit we hope you will accept this gift and if not, well, maybe next time."

    Good Grief

From collaborating with the likes of Tweedy and David Byrne, to becoming such a part of the Newport Folk Festival family that they were asked to back up Roger Waters during this year's incredible headlining performance, the last two years have been the best in the Lucius' career. Now, the Brooklyn band is prepping to keep the good times going with the release of their latest LP, Good Grief.

Arriving via Mom + Pop Music, Good Grief was produced by Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Weezer) and Bob Ezrin, along with the band themselves. The 11 tracks see the singer-songwriter duo of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig exploring the emotions of "loneliness, sadness and exhaustion alongside excitement, fulfillment and some of the most joyful moments in our lives" that they experienced while touring behind their last record. "Whenever one of us had an idea or a feeling," Wolfe said in a press release, "the other was already a witness to it and could help navigate through it - for the two of us, this usually came in song form."

    March 16-20, 1992

March 16-20, 1992 is the third studio album by Alternative Country band Uncle Tupelo, released in 1992. The title refers to the five-day span during which the album was recorded. An almost entirely acoustic recording, the album features original songs and covers of traditional Folk songs in near equal number, and was produced by R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck.

In 1990, Buck attended an Uncle Tupelo concert at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia. Buck was particularly impressed with the band's rendition of the Louvin Brothers' Great Atomic Power, and contacted the band after the show. Uncle Tupelo singers Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy exchanged their interests in Bluegrass music with Buck, and decided to collaborate on an acoustic music project in the future.

March 16-20, 1992 sold more copies than their first two albums, No Depression [MOVLP1014] and Still Feel Gone [MOVLP1618], combined. The album generated mostly positive reviews. Jason Ankeny of Allmusic called the album a brilliant resurrection of a bygone era of American folk artistry. Bill Wyman of Entertainment Weekly remarked that it was a moving and sincere New Depression manifesto.

    Wilco (The Album)

Wilcos newest release and seventh studio outing, Wilco (the album), took shape quickly in January 2009 after the band traveled to Auckland, New Zealand to participate in an Oxfam International benefit project. The band began cutting tracks for the new album, producing it themselves with the help of engineer Jim Scott. The sextet completed the album at its Chicago loft studio and performed some of the new material in April at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Wilco (the album) combines the intimacy of its previous studio release, Sky Blue Sky (2007), with the experimentation of A Ghost Is Born (2004) in a set that boasts strong melodies and gorgeous, often unabashedly pop arrangements. Wilco has clearly laid out the welcome mat to admirers of all aspects of its career. The album even opens with Wilco (the song), originally unveiled in the groups performance on The Colbert Report last October.

Vocalist Jeff Tweedys lyrics remain frank and fascinating, and, similar to Sky Blue Sky, most songs are conscise. Bull Black Nova, however, features a dramatically building arrangement and thrilling guitar crescendo that comes across as more of a duel than a jam. Its followed by the gentle You and I, a duet between Tweedy and Canadian indie sensation Feist, and You Never Know, a glorious anthem. The album culminates with Everlasting Everything, a piano-driven ballad with delicate sonic nuances that lyrically celebrates loves enduring power.

The vinyl version of Wilco (the album) is pressed on 180-gram audiophile-quality vinyl and includes the complete album on CD and MP3. Per Wilco's high standards, the sonics are tremendous, filled with immense detail, warmth, and presence. Yet another masterwork by the best American rock band going.

    Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is without question Wilcos most storied and experimental release. Produced by the band and mixed by Jim ORourke, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot finds the Chicago-based band stretching their creative boundaries, imbuing their trademark sound with inventive textures and song structures. Vocalist/guitarist Jeff Tweedys stirring songwriting commingles with a unique and eclectic sonic approach here that is stirringly emotional and beautifully mysterious. From the poignant opener I Am Trying To Break Your Heart to the stark and powerful Ashes of American Flags to the giddy pop of Heavy Metal Drummer, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is an ambitious original that no one should be without.

This 180-gram Double Vinyl LP version also includes a bonus CD of the entire album. Do not miss this: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a must-have for any music fan.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is an American Classic. -Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune, April 2002

Yankee's chromatic harmonies and sinous rhythmic phrases build and press against communication issues confronting us in the 21st century, and inquire: With unabated media interference and technological glut, how do we effectively communicate matters of the heart? Is what we are saying really being heard, and if so, who is listening? -Bob Gendron, The Absolute Sound, April 2002

In Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Tweedy, bassist John Stirratt, keyboard-guitar player Leroy Bach and drummer Glenn Kotche actually bring you the enchanting sound of things falling apart--and gingerly, doggedly coming together again. This is an honest, vivid chaos, and it tells a good story. -David Fricke, Rolling Stone, April 2002
