Includes Huge 18x24 Party Poster
TOPS are a four-piece band from Montreal, equal parts girls and guys, delivering a raw punk take on AM studio pop. Their new record, Picture You Staring, is a lush array of timelessly crafted songs.
Singer Jane Penny gives a new voice to the silent girl at the edge of the circle, disillusioned but honest and unpretentious, a tone complemented by David Carriere's seamless guitar playing and the measured drumming of Riley Fleck. TOPS' subtle arrangements are delivered with a cool restraint that blend with the individuality and self-assured desire of their female lead.
Picture You Staring gathers strength through intimacy. Self-written, recorded and produced at Arbutus Records' studio in Montreal over the course of a year, this album contains 12 impeccable examples of pop craftsmanship that will reward repeat listeners.1. Way to be Loved

Four TopsThe Four Tops were among a number of groups, including The Miracles, The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas, The Temptations, and The Supremes, who established the Motown Sound around the world during the 1960s. The group was the main male vocal group for the highly successful songwriting and production team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, who crafted a stream of hit singles on Motown. Their immaculate four-part harmonies gave voice to many of Motown's most enduring songs.
Their self-titled album (1964) included the singles Baby I Need Your Loving and Ask the Lonely. You'd be hard pressed to find two better singles on a debut album, both being the cornerstones of Four Tops. A debut to remember.1. Baby I Need Your Loving

Prismic TopsIt's been a startling couple of years for instrumental beats of all persuasions: the likes of LA's Brainfeeder crew and Glasgow's LuckyMe collective have developed styles with a scope far beyond creating merely 'instrumental Hip Hop'. Amongst all the hype and promotion, one of the music's reclusive architects seems to have
been mysteriously overlooked.
But Dimlite's production was astounding from the start. His EPs of 2003 and debut album Runbox Weathers two years later revealed a Swiss producer beholden to no one, possessing a style as nuanced as his friend Prefuse 73 and yet enriched by a careworn romanticism and quirkiness that rewarded repeat listens and has,
over time, made him something of a 'producer's producer'.
Another album, singles, remixes and side-projects followed, taking Dimlite's sound further left, further into a singular world where soul music, latin rhythms, Hip Hop and more are reconstituted into dreamy, lovelorn beat constructions. And so he takes his place on Now-Again, home to a cadre of similarly singular spirits such as The Heliocentrics and The Whitefield Brothers, each bent on refracting music history through their own unique lenses.
And while copycat producers abound, Dimlite's uniqueness is only throw into sharper relief. It's clear the moment he sings, such as on EP highlight Elbow Flood or the astonishing (and miniature) closer, Can't Get Used To Those. It's apparent in
every one of his strangely abrupt changes. It's even in his song titles. Perhaps Prismic Tops will be the record that sparks a critical reappraisal of this gifted producer's work. And if not, Now-Again Records is still proud to present this, the latest in a line of remarkable releases from a quiet pioneer.1. Kalimba Deathswamp / Kurt Feelings

The TopThe Top is the fifth studio album by English band The Cure, originally released on April 30th, 1984 by Fiction Records, on Polydor. After recording a psychedelic album Blue Sunshine for the one-off project The Glove during the summer 1983, Robert Smith finished off the year composing and working on two other studio albums at the same time: The Top for the Cure and Hyæna for Siouxsie and the Banshees. Smith was still the official guitarist of Siouxsie and the Banshees while he wrote The Top. The album was eclectic and saw Smith using all kinds of instruments, including violin and flute. Bird Mad Girl is in a Spanish style while The Wailing Wall contains Middle-Eastern undertones.
For The Top, Smith teamed up with another Cure founding member Lol Tolhurst who had given up drums for keyboards, and new member drummer Andy Anderson who had previously performed on the UK top 10 single The Lovecats. Porl Thompson was credited for playing saxophone on Give Me It. All the songs are credited by Smith bar three tracks co-written with Tolhurst, The Caterpillar, Bird Mad Girl and Piggy in the Mirror.1. Shake Dog Shake

High Top MountainNashville sounds like Nashville again on High Top Mountain, the debut release from singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson. From furious honky-tonk and pre-outlaw country-rocking to spellbinding bluegrass pickin' and emotional balladry, the album serves as a one-stop guide to everything that made real country music such a force to be reckoned with. Pure and uncompromising, devoid of gloss and fakery, High Top Mountain's dozen instant classics evoke the sound of timeless country in its many guises and brings back the lyrical forthrightness and depth that permeated the music Simpson absorbed during his Kentucky childhood1 Life Aint Fair and the World is Mean

Top Of The WorldSlightly Stoopid's Top of the World continues the onward and upward trend within the band members' musicianship, while bringing the purity and energy of their live shows into the studio for recording sessions. Top of the World is most comparatively aligned with Slightly Stoopid's 2005 studio release of Closer to the Sun, except now the addition and solidification of both trumpet and saxophone are more profound. This is certainly not a step backwards, if anything, Slightly Stoopid enhanced their sound ten fold from their most successful album of all time.
Top of the World contains everything a music enthusiast will adore long after the first spin of the album. Whether the listener adores the hip-hop beats of the album's title track, the uplifting horns on "Don't Stop", the pure roots-reggae style of "Work", or the soulful cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire," Top of the World has all the necessary qualities of an instant classic.
To take the album to another level, Slightly Stoopid invited a whole host of musical studs in their own right with Barrington Levy on "Ur Love", "Ska Diddy" featuring Angelo Moore of Fishbone, "Just Thinkin" featuring Chali 2na, "Mona June" featuring Angela Hunte, "Hiphoppablues" with G. Love, and the legendary Jamaican singer and songwriter Don Carlos on "Marijuana".
The band name Slightly Stoopid doesn't initially give off the sense of soothing melodies, full-brained lyricism and heartfelt tracks from beginning to end, but that is exactly what Top of the World portrays to the listener. Slightly Stoopid's seventh studio album is the band's most complete and all encompassing sound ever tracked, and they recorded it organically in their own studio on their own time.
If you are looking for a 21-track album that will keep the sense of feel good summer vibes alive long into the fall and winter seasons, then Top of the World is the ideal remedy to bring the sound of Ocean Beach, California right to your side. -- Reviewed By: Kris Siuta1. Top Of The World

Berry Is On Top (Awaiting Repress)Limited Anniversary Edition
Chuck Berry is truly an American original. There will never be another Chuck Berry nor anyone in the music industry who could influence generations upon generations of aspiring rock 'n rollers like Chuck has.
Celebrating six decades in the music business, this East St. Louis native initially captivated millions of kids in the fifties with his first
recordings like Maybellene and Roll Over Beethoven. He drove the rockers mad with his famous guitar licks, poetic lyrics and dynamic
presence on the stage.
Introduced to Chess Records by fellow blues rocker Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry hit a goldmine immediately with his arsenal of tunes that he presented to Phil and Leonard Chess. A lot of these great songs became top charting singles which culminated in his masterwork third album Berry Is On Top.
Kicking things off with one of his finest smash hits Almost Grown, Chuck Berry roars through a treasure trove of 11 more champions which made this one of the most important and emulated albums of all time. The album features classic gems like his monumental hits of all time Johnny B. Goode and Roll Over Beethoven, plus more powerhouses like Carol, Maybellene, Sweet Little Rock & Roller, Little Queenie, Around and Around and Jo Jo Gunne. Noted for his stellar guitar work, pretty much introducing the turnaround riff to a whole new generation
of guitar players, Berry Is On Top was truly a primer for a ton of rock and blues artists for years like Elvis Presley, Rod Stewart, The Rolling
Stones, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Johnny Winter, The Animals and The Yardbirds.
Chuck Berry was more than a rock 'n roll genius. He was a natural poet. He could rhyme. He could compose lyrically two and three minute musical stories about the everyday man and woman, about the struggles of being a teenager, about romance, about cars, about
faraway places, about dancing, and most notably about rock 'n rollin'.
His unconventional approach to music was unlike that of anyone before him. He opened the doors for millions of music fans around the world to enjoy rock and blues, making him one of the first pioneers of the popular recording business that we all enjoy to this day.
Friday Music is no stranger to the music of the legendary Chuck Berry and the Chess Records' arsenal of fine recordings. That is why we are so very proud to announce another fine installment in The Chuck Berry/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with his legendary masterpiece Berry Is On Top - The Anniversary Edition.
Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry) for the first time on audiophile vinyl from the Chess monophonic tapes, Chuck Berry's Berry Is On Top will truly become one of the most important and historical 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl titles in quite some time.
To celebrate Chuck Berry's six decades in the music business, we further enhance this limited anniversary edition with a stunning
gatefold cover featuring the original artwork elements as well as two classic inside gatefold photos of the man who started rock and roll.

Queen Of The Flat Top GuitarThis is a collection of impossibly rare recordings from legendary finger-picker Lena Hughes. A musical amateur that best exemplified true artistry, Lena Hughes was born in Grape Grove Township, Missouri, in 1904. Though she never recorded any 78s and only one LP, Hughes was most influential through her steady performances at various fiddler conventions and folk festivals throughout the Ozarks. She was an excellent fiddler, banjoist and guitar picker who retained the largely extinct repertoire of parlor pieces and the variety of specialized tunings that were necessary to play them.
Lena Hughes' repertoire can be devided roughly in half: finger-picked numbers adapted from fiddle tunes and recast parlor guitar pieces gleaned from popular sentimental songs, hymns and 19th century airs. As a faithful attendee at folk festivals, Hughes was accompanied by her guitar-playing husband, Jake. Her most mesmerizing performances, such as Pearly Dew, Spanish Fandango and Kentucky Moon Waltz depend heavily upon resonance of the open chord as it relates to the picking of the melodic line, primarily on one string. This ethereal harmonic technique, which seems so natural in Hughes' playing, is the holy grail for most finger-picking guitarists. Her lack of pretense and her mastery of this repertoire are what define her legendary status.1. Pearly Dew

Top Ten Hits Of The End Of The WorldIt's 2012, and Prince Rama has made the Top Ten Hits of the End of the World. Conceived as a pseudo-compilation album, the Brooklyn duo invented ten different pop bands that died during the apocalypse, channeling the ghosts of each one to perform the various songs. Spanning genres and stylistic eras from across the globe, Top Ten Hits explores pop music's relationship to memory, nostalgia, and the spirit world.
Incorporating influences as disparate as cosmic disco, motorcycle rock, new-wave, grunge, tribal goth, Arabic pop, and ghost-modern glam, Prince Rama filters each sound through the destroyed lens of a post-apocalyptic future looking back at the wonders of its sonic past. Tracking began with Tim Koh in Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti's studio and was then completed and mixed with producer Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Sun City Girls, Arcade Fire) at Gravelvoice in Seattle.
Top Ten Hits of the End of the World isn't just a pop album, it's a retrospective requiem of all pop albums ever made. Nothing like this has ever been attempted by a single band, and its residual echoes will continue to haunt this world and the next. LP comes with digital download card.1. Blade Of Austerity

Toppings (Discontinued) (On Sale)Hip Hop purists, make room in your crates under baroque/blunted beats for Jules Chaz. After playing in various bands around British Columbia, working with internationally respected Hip Hop artists and supporting the celebrated Cobblestone Jazz crew over the last 15 years, one of Canada's hardest working and most talented DJs, musicians and producers has finally stepped up to release an album under his own name.
Making up for lost time, Jules Chaz's eagerly-anticipated debut Toppings on Wagon Repair features 21 tracks of fuzzy downtempo bliss, punctuated by finely sliced and diced snippets of Hall and Oates, Julee Cruise (Blak Lodge), reggae and bangra (Saysumthin) samples, with cameos by Cobblestone keyboardist Danuel Tate (Yes I Do) and fire-spittin' emcee Ishkan (Could Happen). Handcrafted at home, while his five year-old son slept, and at a decked-out studio he shares with Tate, the album represents Chaz's favorite work from the last few years, what he considers to be the jazz of today.
Although early support for Jules productions has come from king-making internationalist Gilles Peterson and Hip Hop innovator Moka Only, the most significant support naturally comes from Wagon Repair, a record label better known for its quirky techno. The shift towards Hip Hop testifies to their confidence in Jules Chaz. After all, the man has created over 300 tracks to date and his prolific output shows no sign of waning.1. Hey

Soul DeepSoul Deep is an essential compilation of The Box Tops' best tracks. Hailing from 1960's Memphis, The Box Tops are best known for the hits The Letter, Cry Like a Baby and Soul Deep, and are considered a major blue-eyed Soul group of the period.
They performed a mixture of current Soul music songs by artists such as James & Bobby Purify and Clifford Curry, Pop tunes such as A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum, and songs written by their producers, Dan Penn, Spooner Oldham, and Chips Moman.
Their records are prime examples of the styles made popular by Moman and Penn at American Sound Studio in Memphis. Many of their lesser known Top 40 hits, including Neon Rainbow, I Met Her in Church, and Sweet Cream Ladies, Forward March, are considered minor classics.1. The Letter
