At War with Satan is the third album by extreme metal pioneers Venom, released in April 1984. Though neither of their first two albums had sold in very large quantities, by 1983 Venom had become simply impossible to ignore. To be sure, their exceedingly Satanic posturing wasn't nearly as shocking as it was cartoonish, and their impenetrable dirge of embryonic black metal only helped fuel the metal community's interest in the band.

    Satan's Graffiti Or God's Art?

Atlanta's valiant punks Black Lips have announced that their first album in three years,Satan's graffiti or God's art?, is set for release May 5 on Vice Records. Produced bySean Lennon at his studio compound in upstate New York throughout 2016, the album isthe group's most musically evolved to date, while still staying true to their original blisteringtake on fuzzy, dirty rock n' roll.

During the recording, the band isolated themselves from the outside world, infusing thealbum with a focused liveliness similar to the spirit that brought them together in the firstplace. On Satan's graffiti or God's art? founding members Cole Alexander and JaredSwilley teamed with former guitarist Jack Hines (who played in the group from 2002-2004)and recent additions Oakley Munson on drums and Zumi Rosow on saxophone. The albumalso features contributions by Saul Adamczewski of Fat White Familyand guest vocals by Yoko Ono.

Satan's graffiti or God's art? vindicates Black Lips for sticking it out through many years ofshifting trends and buzz bands; a sonically captivating document that is as creativelyunhinged as it is precisely executed, one of the rawest and most expansive albums in theband's storied history.

    Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices

Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices, The Welcome Wagon's second full-length, is an apt sequel to their critically acclaimed 2008 debut, Welcome to the Welcome Wagon. Here, Vito and Monique Auito simply throw those welcoming arms open wider, inviting the listener to join them for 51 minutes of church.

Those who enjoyed the Welcome Wagon's debut album will notice their distinct sound again here: loose, jangly, comfortable, a gathering of friends making music together. It's at times jaunty and toe-tapping, at others quietly contemplative, an alt-folk gem that sounds very much like it comes out of the Asthmatic Kitty camp.

But while the first album was recorded over the course of eight years in various venues, this one was done in five days at the library of an old rectory in Brooklyn. And while recording artist and AK co-owner Sufjan Stevens produced Welcome Wagon's first album, he's less noticeable on this collection, sticking to some banjo, piano, and choir singing. Alexander Foote, who also plays guitars, organ, autoharp, percussion, and some piano, produced the record. And Welcome Wagon friends and internet sensations The Gregory Brothers fill in the choir.

Vito says his songwriting is informed by his work as senior pastor at Resurrection Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. "A pastor is supposed to care for people, to help them to love God, to engage with their lives and their joys and their sorrows," he says. "I'm only interested in writing music that will speak to that. I'm writing as a pastor, wanting these songs to speak God's truth into those situations." Double gatefold vinyl LP includes bonus EP on side 4: Purity of Heart is to Will One Thing.

Beggars Banquet is the seventh British and ninth American studio album by the English rock band The Rolling Stones. It was released in December 1968 by Decca Records in the United Kingdom and London Records in the United States. It marked a return to the band's R&B roots, generally viewed as more primal than the conspicuous psychedelia of Their Satanic Majesties Request. It also started off a string of four LPs that is usually regarded as the band's finest work.

    Die Screaming

Something sinister is looming in the mist - a ghastly three-headed apparition, equal parts riffage & rancour and fuelled by a steady diet of garage rock 7-inches played at 33RPM and horror movies watched at 5AM, the primeval force of Satan's Satyrs is returned to the earth to lay waste to everything in its path.

Rising from the primordial ooze of Herndon, Virginia Satan's Satyrs hit the metal underground like a tidal wave of sulphur with their debut proper, 2012's Wild Beyond Belief. This almighty assault, almost entirely the work of chief Satyr Clayton Burgess, was a harrowing blast of fuzz-drenched aggro - a clash of Venom-esque metalpunk squalor and in-the-red garage-rock dementia.

With Jarrett Nettnin soon joining the fray on guitar and Stephen Fairfield on drums, the power-trio were soon invited by Electric Wizard to 2013's Roadburn Festival, which they graced with two scorching sets, one being entirely comprised of cuts by their heinous heroes Blue Cheer. Yet the three-piece, despite being barely into their twenties, weren't about to rest on their laurels. What's more, the result of their onward march into grisly pastures new is the more mature yet no less malicious new opus, 'Die Screaming' which sees it's European release via Bad Omen Records in 2014.

This time around, the band set about expanding their sound, maintaining their trash-obsessed aesthetic whilst sharpening their songcraft to produce an album possessed of both mighty heaviosity and incisive hooks. Bolstered by roaring Hammond and percussive ornamentation that bring still more Hammer Horror atmosphere to the fray, 'Die Screaming' transcends the band's Black Sabbath, Stooges and Black Flag influences to arrive at a relentlessly gory and gung-ho assault on the senses. One minute, this terror-troupe are dishing out the rotten rock n'roll of 'One By One (They Die) and Curse Of The Corpse, which stalk the Earth like the reanimated corpses of Budgie and Blue Oyster Cult records past. The next, on the jaw-dropping title-track, they're throwing Death SS, the Alice Cooper of Sick Things and Scott Reagers-era Saint Vitus into a bubbling cauldron and standing well back. Yet at all times Satan's Satyrs' gonzo attack is authentically red in both tooth and claw.

Rising high above the overkill of self-styled occult rock that lurks in the underground at present. Satan's Satyrs are blazing a trail through a nightmarish world of battered VHS videos, overheated ampstacks and dog-eared vinyl, and are a band fit to set the pulse of any self-respecting trash connoisseur racing. With 'Die Screaming', they're set to carry out the Devil's bidding across the globe with uniquely sordid and salacious style.

Shout At The Devil (Awaiting Repress)

Limited Edition (1500) Translucent Red With Black Vinyl

Shout at the Devil is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Mötley CrÜe, released on September 26, 1983. It was the band's breakthrough album, establishing Mötley CrÜe as one of the top selling heavy metal acts of the 1980s. The singles Looks That Kill and Too Young to Fall in Love were moderate hits for the band.

Shout at the Devil was Mötley CrÜe's breakthrough success, bringing them to international attention. The album's title and the band's use of a pentagram brought the band a great deal of controversy upon its 1983 release, as Christian and conservative groups claimed the band was encouraging their listeners to worship Satan. The album was one of the breakthrough releases of what was to become the 1980s hair metal movement, and was very influential in that regard. Available for first time in translucent red w black vinyl.

We're going to be the band that writes the song that makes Israel and Palestine get along, is what Art Brut promised the world on their 2005 debut album Bang Bang Rock & Roll. And even though the situation in the Middle East hasn't improved, their bold promise put the London art wave band on the musical map.

Brilliant! Tragic!, their newest album and fourth overall, was produced by the legendary Black Francis of the Pixies as was their 2009 release Art Brut vs. Satan. We had more time in the studio, so Black Francis had time to teach me to sing, lead man Eddie Argos explains.

Brilliant! Tragic! offers up a singing/mumbling slacker attitude with sawdust in the gearbox, verbosely funny lyrics, and cover artwork courtesy of Image comic book artist Jamie McKelvie.

9 is the seventh and final album by Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate. 9 was recorded during February and March 1999, and was originally released on June 15, 1999 via Metal Blade Records. This album continues the heavier sound that was introduced in their previous album Dead Again, and also marks the return of the Satanic and Occult-based lyrical themes which were prevalent during the band's first incarnation.

A trip through every aspect of everything thats cool about underground drug-rock from the head-spinning Satanic Psychedelia of Patterns of Evil through to the NWOBHM on LSD churning of Turn off your Mind Black Masses is the album Electric Wizard always threatened to make. Black Oak Arkansas

Black Oak Arkansas is an American Southern rock band named after the band's hometown of Black Oak, Arkansas. The band reached the height of its fame in the 1970s with ten charting albums released in that decade. Their style is punctuated by multiple guitar players and the raspy voice and on-stage antics of vocalist Jim Dandy Mangrum.

Their self-titled debut album Black Oak Arkansas was released in 1971, and is generally regarded by fans as the band's best. The record featured enduring BOA classics like Hot And Nasty, Lord Have Mercy On My Soul, Uncle Lijiah (written in pseudo-tribute to Harvey Jett's real-life great uncle) and When Electricity Came To Arkansas, which was wrongfully accused by fundamentalist religious groups of containing backward-masked Satanic messages (possibly from a live performance of the song in which Mangrum utters natas three times).

The band toured extensively, gaining a reputation as a premier live act throughout the early '70s all across America, and later even in Europe.

Metalheads who thought W.A.S.P. and Mötley CrÜe were just choir boys and who were looking for more vile and boisterous music were well served when White Zombie released their albums in the mid- to late '90s. The ingredients? White-trash-on-acid metal, growled vocals and B-horror movie visuals.

After releasing the successful album 'La Sexorcisto' in 1992 Rob Zombie and his band's opinion was that it all could be a bit more rough. And so it happened..

Follow-up album 'Astro-Creep 2000' from 1995 is much heavier than its predecessor, with a more industrial metal style and a darker sound as it deals with twisted poetry about murder, the undead, blasphemy and satanic elements.

'La Sexorcisto' is a must have for all the metal and thrash fans, 'Astro-Creep 2000', but 'Astro-creep 2000' is its number one contender!

For the first time since its original release in 1984, Wax Maniax is very proud to bring the essential debut album from NWOBHM cult-metal legends CLOVEN HOOF back to vinyl!

Originally formed in the heart of the industrial West Midlands, England in 1979, CLOVEN HOOF went through various line up changes until Spring 1982 when the band line up consisted of Lee Payne bass guitar, David Potter vocals, Steve Rounds lead guitar and Kevin Pountney drums. The band's first demo tape was given the thumbs up from no lesser than Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) who took a copy of the tape into national Radio One, and Rob Halford (Judas Priest) who got it played on a radio station in Phoenix, Arizona. The band self-released "The Opening Ritual", a four track mini album in July of 1982, and the EP stayed in the "Sounds" and "Kerrang!" heavy metal charts for six weeks peaking at number 18. Articles in "Kerrang!" and "Noise" magazine were followed by renkown Sounds writer and Kerrang! Magazine founder Geoff Barton putting the band atop his prestigious "Breaking through in '82" feature and play list.

"The Opening Ritual" attained extensive radio air play worldwide but it wasn't until Tommy Vance played tracks off the EP on his legendary "Friday Rock Show" program on Radio One in the UK that interest in Cloven Hoof began to soar. 1983 saw Cloven Hoof touring throughout the United Kingdom, earning themselves a sizeable underground cult following. Soon afterwards the group were taken under the wing of ex-Judas Priest manager David Hemmings and an offer to sign the band from CBS Records soon followed.

Personality conflicts within the band, followed by the untimely death of manager David Hemmings put a strain on relations with CBS and the offer was withdrawn. In order to keep the momentum built by the band's live appearances and radio play going, the band instead looked to leading UK independent heavy metal label Neat Records where a deal was quickly struck. The band entered the label's Impulse Studio with reknown producer Keith Nichol (Venom, Satan, Raven, etc..) to record their self-titled debut album which was met with great adulation by the heavy metal press. Shortly thereafter, frontman Dave Potter left the band to join French metal unit "H-Bomb". Cloven Hoof soldiered on, releasing a live album in 1986 with new frontman Rob Kendrick (Trapeze, Budgie) followed by a second studio album in 1988 featuring an all-new lineup including Russ North of post-Budgie group Tredegar on vocals. Three more full-length studio albums would follow, the most recent released in 2014. The band continues to soldier on to this day with Lee Payne at the helm, enjoying a strong cult following both young and old, ushered in by the internet age that has seen their 1984 debut album topping lists of the best and most influential heavy metal albums of all time.

    Black Masses

For those who crave Sabbath-like dirges, Electric Wizard has few peers. - The Chicago Tribune

World-class British doom metal band Electric Wizard are back with their long-awaited new album Black Masses to be released courtesy of Metal Blade Records/Rise Above Records. The legendary group's seventh studio album was recorded with Grammy Award-winning British recording engineer Liam Watson (The White Stripes) in London's Toe Rag Studios. Long hailed as the true heirs to Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard have achieved near iconic status in the metal underground and the band prepares to annihilate the planet with Black Masses, their dark prayer to Luciferian heavy metal via crackling, vintage valve amplifiers set to full overdrive.

Propelled by gigantic riffs and dripping with dark, bluesy undertones, Black Masses is an ugly, sleazy and dirty album steeped in unruly themes of '70s exploitation cinema, occultism, substance abuse and narco-satanism. Taken as a whole, the record creates a twisted amalgam of late '60s dark acid psychedelia and early '80s satanic metal, all draped in both vile, misanthropic imagery and lyrics.

This ritual incantation of heavy metal sorcery will break down your psyche as wave upon crushing wave of lead weight acid-laced Doom leaves you numb and broken before our unholy altar, declared Electric Wizard cult leader Jus Oborn. Violent, bleak and ritualistic, we bow to the black altar of the riff. We do not rock, we kill!

    Return Of Darkness

Bathory was formed in Stockholm in 1983. Founder Quorthon, a seventeen-year-old guitarist, was joined by bassist Hanoi and drummer Vans. After various name changes (beginning with Nosferatu, then Natas, Mephisto, Elizabeth Bathory and Countess Bathory) they finally settled on Bathory. Their first recording deal came that same year, when Quorthon managed to secure the consent of Tyfon Grammofon's boss to record two tracks for the compilation Scandinavian Metal Attack. The tracks which he recorded gained unexpected attention by fans. Soon afterward, Tyfon Grammofon contacted Quorthon and asked him to record a full-length album. Although Venom's Black Metal, released in 1982, was the first record to coin the term, it was Bathory's early albums, featuring Satanic lyrics, low-fi production and an inhuman vocal style, that defined the genre. Many fans have speculated Venom was an influence on Bathory; however, Quorthon has said in an interview with Kick Ass magazine in 1985 he only heard of Venom after the first Bathory album was released. He also expressed dislike for many influential and popular heavy metal bands at the time, such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. He has also stated the band's early work was influenced primarily by Black Sabbath, Motorhead, and punk rock. Bathory's self-titled debut album, and the subsequent releases The Return and Under the Sign of the Black Mark, are now regarded as major influences on the Norwegian bands which extended black metal's musical progression and popularity in the beginning of the 1990s.

The Return Of The Darkness And Evil (Picture Disc)

Limited Edition Picture Disc Reissue Of Bathory's Second Album

Recorded and mixed in February, 1985, at Elektra Studio, Stockholm, Sweden. There were a handful of bands that influenced the birth of Scandinavian black metal (frequently referred to as the Second Wave of Black Metal), but few are worshipped as faithfully as Sweden's Bathory. Formed in 1983 and led (and most instrumentation provided) by Quorthon (Thomas Forsberg), their first four albums laid the groundwork for black metal's sonic aesthetics: lo-fi production, heavy distortion, trebly and abrasive tone, rapid-fire tempo, and raspy, barking vocals. The Return of Darkness And...captures a dark occult satanic atmosphere in a very rare way. This is dark and evil in a convincing way with Quorthons trademark demonic vocals.

    Quorthon explains the name:

We wanted people to just read out The return... - as in a second album or a follow-up - and then flip the album over to look for a tracking list. Not finding one, what they got was this apocalyptic poem with the song titles woven into it. Only after listening through the album to the end would you get the full title of the album: THE RETURN OF THE DARKNESS AND EVIL.

Blood Fire Death is the fourth album by the Swedish band Bathory. Twilight Of The Gods

180 Gram Reissue of Bathorys Sixth Album!

Twilight of the Gods is the sixth album by Bathory. It continues the exploration of the newly created Viking metal style, and also displays a heavy classical influence; it is titled after an opera by Wagner, and the melody of Hammerheart is lifted from Gustav Holst's The Planets (more specifically, from the fourth movement, Jupiter).
