Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash

Part of the Replacements' appeal always was that they didn't quite fit into any tidy category. Nowhere
was that truer than on their 1981 debut, Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash. They didn't fit anywhere within
American punk, but there's no defiance here; there's a celebration of who and what they are that's genuinely,
infectiously guileless. It may not quite sound like any other American punk record but Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the
Trash is one of the best LPs the entire scene produced in the early '80s.

Includes All Shook Down, Released On LP In The USA For The 1st Time Ever

The Replacements initially formed in 1979, and were wild and quickly became notorious for their drunken, chaotic gigs. After they built up a sizable local following, the Minneapolis label Twin/Tone signed them. Critics and fellow musicians were quick to praise the band, and they developed a large underground following.

This limited edition LP box set contains the albums Tim (1985), Pleased to Meet Me (1987), Don't Tell A Soul (1989), and All Shook Down (1990).

    Songs For Slim

THE SONGS FOR SLIM series was constructed in order to raise
money for former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap's medical costs,
the result of a massive right brain stroke he suffered in 2012. Fellow
Replacements members Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson
reunited and recorded an original Slim Dunlap song plus three
additional covers. Original Replacements drummer Chris Mars also
recorded a Slim cover and all five tracks were combined on a limited
edition run of 250 numbered copies of 10" vinyl EPs. These EPs
were auctioned in January and raised a staggering $105,743.42.
Future auctions of split 7" singles with artists such as Steve Earle,
Lucinda Williams, Craig Finn (from The Hold Steady), Deer Tick,
Jakob Dylan, John Doe, The Jayhawks and Frank Black, all covering
Slim's songs, will commence on the 15th of each month and run for
    7 days each.

    Stink

Stink seemed more like a hardcore record: the band approximated a hardcore rave-up at the end of the
white blooze parody White and Lazy, and Paul Westerberg's songs bristled with anger against all manner of
middle-class irritants, as he spit vitriol at his God Damn Job and told school to go f*ck itself. Such a sudden burst of
anger could almost seem parodic, especially with such snide jokes as the Frère Jacques chorus of Gimme Noise, if
the Replacements didn't sound so lethal: they're hard and merciless, never stopping for air.

All Shook Down is the seventh and final studio album by the band The Replacements, released in 1990. The band, hailing from Minneapolis, started out in 1979, and are considered pioneers of Alternative Rock, influencing a variety of acts along the way. Their influences ranged from The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Slade, Lou Reed and The Beatles to Punk rock bands such as The Ramones, Johnny Thunders, Dead Boys and The Clash.

At the time All Shook Down was released, the band consisted of guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars, added by lead guitarist Slim Dunlap. This album was originally intended to be Westerberg's solo artist debut. As a result, numerous session and side musicians including The Velvet Underground's John Cale performed on All Shook Down's
13 songs, supplemented by the three other band members.

Merry Go Round was the band's most successful Modern Rock Tracks single, reaching #1 for four non-consecutive weeks. The album also received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

    The Twin/Tone Years

This American rock band, formed in 1979, is considered a pioneer of alternative rock. Unlike many of their underground contemporaries, The Replacements played heart-on-the-sleeve rock songs that combined Westerberg's raw-throated adolescent howl with self-deprecating lyrics. They were a notoriously wayward live act, often performing under the influence of alcohol and playing fragments of covers instead of their own material. (via Wikipedia)

    Hootenany

Hootenanny is the place where the Replacements began to branch out from the breakneck punk that
characterized their first two records. The brilliant thing about Hootenanny is that it teeters at the brink of maturity but
never makes the dive into that deep pool. Paul Westerberg nevertheless dips a toe into those murky waters with Color
Me Impressed, as good an angst-ridden rocker as he would ever write, and the heartbroken Within Your Reach,
which presented a break from the Replacements' past in its slower tempo. It lurches to life with the folk piss-take
Hootenanny before spinning out of control with Run It, a piece of faux-core harder and funnier than anything on
Stink. It continues to bounce from extreme to extreme, stopping for a Beatles parody on Mr. Whirly and the
    instrumental Buck Hill.

    Let It Be (Awaiting Repress)

Let It Be looms large among '80s rock albums, generally regarded as one of the greatest records of the
decade. Nothing about Let It Be is clean; it's all a ragged mess, careening wildly from dirty jokes to wounded ballads,
from utter throwaways to songs haunting in their power. This blend of bluster and vulnerability is why the
Replacements were perhaps the most beloved band of their era, as they captured all the chaos and confusion of
coming of age in the midst of Reaganomics, and Let It Be is nothing if not a coming-of-age album, perched precisely
between adolescence and adulthood. There's just enough angst and tastelessness to have the album speak to
teenagers of all generations and just enough complicated emotion to make this music resonate with listeners long past
those awkward years, whether they grew up with this album or not.

    Mother's Milk

1989's Mother's Milk is the album that broke the Red Hot Chili Peppers into the rock mainstream. Despite suffering the loss of drummer Jack Irons and guitarist Hillel Slovak a year earlier, founding members Anthony Kiedis and Flea found exceptional replacements in Chad Smith and John Frusciante. A cover of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground and a tribute to Slovak, Knock Me Down, were both big MTV successes, as were such other highlights as Taste the Pain (featured prominently in the movie Say Anything), Good Time Boys, Subway to Venus, Magic Johnson and Sexy Mexican Maid.

    No Depression

The album that inspired a website, a magazine and a musical movement, Uncle Tupelo's landmark 1990 debut No Depression is intrinsically a punk-rock record with country themes. On the one hand the album is named after a song by A.P. Carter and features banjos, mandolins and fiddles and on the other the songs are played at a breakneck pace and feature thrashing guitars and a punk spirit.

Paying their respects to obvious influences like Graham Parsons, the Replacements and the Minutemen, the 12-song set accurately depicts the trials and tribulations of the rural, blue collar existence from the workingman anthems like Factory Belt and Graveyard Shift to the trappings of the nightlife on Whiskey Bottle and Before I Break.

Equally as acclaimed as it is revered, No Depression brilliantly blends the heartbreak and longing of country music with the power and fury of punk-rock, done so with a precision that remains unmatched.

    #1 Record

Ranked 403/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Although the original members of the Memphis quartet Big Star recorded only the album, #1 Record together and were dissolving rapidly by the time the second, Radio City, was completed, those records have influenced countless 80s and 90s rockers on both sides of the Atlantic, from the Replacements and R.E.M. to Englands Primal Scream and Scotlands Teenage Fanclub. That Big Stars impact should extend so far afield is less surprising in light of the bands own inspirations. Taking the gritty soul of Memphis rhythm and blues and fusing it with the artful melodies and vocal harmonies of British power pop, and injecting it all with a flailing, pre-punk, garage-band energy, Big Star created a unique sound with a universal appeal.

Originally released in 1972, Big Star's legendary debut, #1 Record was the second release for the newly formed Ardent Records. Their simple, light pop and jangly guitars mixed with sweet harmonies was ahead of its time, garnering a die-hard cult following and receiving widespread critical acclaim. A remarkable document of innovative craft and content!

Replacement Stylus For The Ortofon 2M Red

2M are designed for precise and accurate retrieval of the information in the record groove. Our philosophy is to play the record sound as accurate as possible, without coloring the sound. We have optimized the design for ease of mounting the cartridge, weight and size to fit the most common turntables at the market today.

The name 2M was selected among several ideas. We wanted a modern name that would be easy to pronounce and to remember, and therefore an alpha numerical name was chosen. 2M means MM, which is the abbreviation for moving magnet.

Of course the 2M isn't just another pretty face. It has been engineered to the highest standards and is congruent with the unrelenting commitment of Ortofon to provide the most precise and accurate reproduction possible without coloration.

The 2M series of cartridges feature Ortofon's trademark split pole pins, an invention that enables moving magnet cartridges to have a flat frequency response, as with a moving coil cartridge. Split pole pins were invented by Ortofon, and were originally presented in the 500 series and Super OM series.

The 2M Red uses an improved engine, which provides an increased output of 5.5mV.

2M Red features a tipped elliptical diamond.

Replacement Stylus For The Ortofon 2M Blue

The 2M Blue uses an improved engine, which provides an increased output of 5.5mV.

2M Blue features a Nude elliptical diamond.
