Trouble Will Find MeTrouble Will Find Me, The National's highly anticipated sixth album will be released on May 21
on 4AD. Formed in 1999, the Ohio-raised, Brooklyn-based band consists of vocalist Matt Berninger fronting two pairs of brothers: Aaron
(guitar, bass, piano) and Bryce Dessner (guitar),
and Scott (bass, guitar) and Bryan Devendorf
(drums). The band's previous 4AD release, High
Violet (May 2010), was met with critical acclaim
and impressive sales, debuting # 3 on the Billboard chart with 295k scanned to date.
The National recruited quite a collection of guest musicians to appear on their new album, Trouble Will Find Me. In an interview with The Gothamist, The National's Bryan Devendorf revealed that Sufjan Stevens provided drum machine and synths and both St. Vincent's Annie Clark and Sharon Van Etten appear as guest vocalists.

High VioletHigh Violet, the new full-length record by The National, is a nervy, melodic, explosive and beautiful set of songs that finds the band at the height of their collaborative powers. The music is wide-ranging in its moods, by turns intimate and rough, expansive and spare, full of atmosphere. Berninger's singing: wild, half-broken and sly evokes a feeling of being haunted, by love, paranoia and something just out of reach. High Violet may be The National's most thematically twisted record to date but it also manages to be their most infectious and immediate.1. Terrible Love

Cherry TreeThe National's sophomore album, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers (2003), found the band emerging onto a larger stage. Uncut called it a genuine treasure and named it an album of the year; it was hailed by Rolling Stone and the inde media; and Magnet, La Liberation (Paris) and the Chicago Tribune all tapped it for their year-end lists.
In France, the band had become such a sensation that renowned DJ Bernard Lenoir invited them to perform on his Black Sessions, following U.S. buzz bands like The Rapture and Interpol. A track from that session, Murder Me Rachael occupies the warm-blooded heart of Cherry Tree, a 7-song collection that delves the depths and brought their tension-wire rock to new heights.
Clocking in at just under 30 minutes, Cherry Tree was an EP, a mini-LP, or a bridge to the future. It features five new songs and two bonus tracks, including one of those aforementioned live performances from France inter radio and a trans-oceanic duet between the National's singer Matt Berninger and Clogs' Padma Newsome.

Hidden Hands Of A Sadist Nation (Awaiting Repress)Colored Vinyl
A bastard child born of the mid 90s punk/metal/hardcore movement, Darkest Hour combines the passion, energy, and soul of punk/hardcore with the style, speed, vengeance and fury of melodic speed/thrash/death metal. In a decade-without-a-name, Darkest Hour defined the entire new wave of American metal sound and gave the metal and hardcore/punk world a revitalization it surely needed. This new style blended the raw, hardcore punk of the 80s with the Scandinavian death metal of the 90s and forged a sound that would later become the template for modern metal.
2003's Hidden Hands Of A Sadist Nation, their third full-length overall, saw Darkest Hour working in Sweden with producer extraordinaire Fredrick Nordstrom. The politically charged 10-song set would make the band a household name as one of the hottest metal/punk bands in the underground. As a result, the band was asked to participate in 2004's Ozzfest alongside legendary bands like Slayer, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Slipknot and many other metal heavy weights. All The Nations AirportsColored Vinyl!
Merge Records Reissue Remastered by Bob Weston!
Merge is proud to reissue All the Nations Airports and White Trash Heroes, the final two albums from Archers of Loaf. Both albums have been remastered by Bob Weston and feature re-imagined cover art, new liner notes and copious bonus material. Each album is presented on colored vinyl.
With All the Nations Airports, originally released in 1996, Archers of Loaf were uncompromising in their efforts to push themselves in new directions. They delivered an album that included some of the more simple indie pop songs that had made them famous as well as four instrumental tracks, layered tape loops and even a solo piano song, but the song structures became much more complex. These songs provided a wide range of color and emotion but somehow none of the songs seemed out of place on the album.
In Stephen Thompson's liner notes for the All The Nations Airports reissue, he says, "It's music that exists because it must, with all the bile, beauty, and bluster of youth and all the disaffected paranoia of a perpetually worried mind. The album might not have fulfilled Archers of Loaf's commercial potential at the time, but that makes an awful lot of sense. The band tended to craft its greatest art when it saw fit to scribble in the margins."
LPs are limited edition and pressed on colored vinyl housed in gatefold jacket with printed Euro sleeve.

Beasts Of No NationBeasts Of No Nation, originally released in 1989, was an indictment of the corruption and repression in post-colonial Africa. The album, whose single track took up both sides of the vinyl LP, addressed a variety of targets, each of them, said Fela, guilty of enslaving Africans: the Nigerian regime, the South African apartheid regime of P.W. Botha, Britain's Margaret Thatcher, America's Ronald Reagan, and the ineffectual United Nations. Mention the name Bad Brains to any music fan today and you will get a jaw-dropping response! Considered by some to be the holy grail' of punk rock, Bad Brains are one of the definitive American punk groups who garner the same respect as the Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Ramones and the The Clash. The Bad Brains iconic legacy brought a new dimension to music by melding punk and reggae into a innovative style that has yet-to-be copied. And with this new studio album, Bad Brains essentially returns to their core wit a raw analog-driven chaos produced by MCA (aka Adam Yauch) of the Beastie Boys.Build a Nation has clearly brought out the best in the band.
All original members, Dr. Know, Darryl Jennifer H.R. and Earl Hudson, deliver an explosive arsenal of riffage and bad ass bag of voices. Producer MCA recorded the album at the Beastie Boys' Oscilloscope studio in NYC. It is the first studio album released by the Oscilloscope laboratories, outside of Beastie Boys' albums. Sometimes reactionary, sometimes volatile, Bad Brains simply define the American punk experience.1. Give Thanks and Praises

One Nation UndergroundTom Rapp, an 18-year-old draft resistor and college dropout living in Eaugallie, Florida, sent a small unsolicited reel of tape to ESP. Bernard Stollman invited him to bring his musicians to New York, where they recorded their acclaimed debut, One Nation Underground in 1967. While A Nation SleepsIt's been almost three years since post-hardcore act BoySetsFire first announced they got back together, and now the reinvigorated outfit are ready to unfurl their first reunion LP. Titled While a Nation Sleeps, it drops June 11 via Bridge 9.
A press release notes that the 13-song set, which follows 2006's The Misery Index: Notes from the Plague Years, was recorded earlier this year at Newark, DE's Signal 2 Noise Studio, and it apparently features the band's heaviest, most aggressive and scathing material to date - as well as some of their most melodic.
Our new record is maybe more punk, maybe faster than our other records but it's still a BoySetsFire record, guitarist Joshua Latshaw said in a statement. It's emotional post-hardcore with elements of metal, punk and melody. We can't wait for you to hear it!
The current lineup reunites Latshaw with founding vocalist Nathan Gray and fellow six-stringer Chad Istvan. Bass duties on the LP were shared between old member Robert Ehrenbrand and the band's good friend Chris Rakus, while drummer Dan Pelic is new to the fold.1. Until Nothing Remains

It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us BackRanked 78/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.
I hated that record, said Public Enemy's Chuck D. Believe it or not, he's referring to Bring the Noise, the frenetic first track of It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, the group's 1988 agit-rap masterpiece and breakthrough album. Public Enemy had recorded the song in October 1987 for the soundtrack of the forgettable Less Than Zero. When Chuck (a.k.a. Carlton Ridenhour) first heard the final version, he said, I practically threw it out the window.
He changed his mind later that year when Public Enemy were on tour in England. I kept hearing people ask, 'What's this record you've got out? People are going crazy over it,' he remembered. I was like 'OK, pull that acetate out, and let's play it [in concert].' People went berserk.
Bring the Noise, along with Rebel Without a Pause and Don't Believe the Hype - all conceived in 1987 at the group's Hempstead, Long Island, studio, Spectrum City - would become the foundation of It Takes a Nation of Millions, an album that's loud, obnoxious, funky, avant-garde, political, uncompromising and hilarious all at once. Chuck may have been disgruntled over Bring the Noise, but he always liked Rebel Without a Pause, the track that introduced Public Enemy's trademark sirenlike horn squeals. Hank Shocklee of PE's production team, the Bomb Squad, says that Rebel started out as a response to Eric B. and Rakim's I Know You Got Soul. We were going for something that had the same feel but with more aggression, Shocklee said. Because we were angry.
For Rebel, PE coupled piercing squeals (a snippet from the J.B.'s' The Grunt played backward) with James Brown's Funky Drummer (Because that song was my milk, said Shocklee). Then it fell on Chuck to write the lyrics. I remember locking myself in the house for 24 hours, Chuck said. He emerged with verses that emulated Rakim's off-the-rhythm flow but stayed true to his own booming-baritone persona (Soul, rock & roll, comin' like a rhino); Chuck also dropped the name of black activist Joanne Chesimard, hinting at the political direction that his rhymes would soon take.
Don't Believe the Hype, recorded just before Bring the Noise, was Chuck's first foray into full-fledged polemics, in this case against the media. The lyrics were inspired by a slight against Chuck by New York-area radio DJ Mr. Magic. PE had serious doubts about that song, too. We thought 'Hype' was just garbage, said Shocklee. Again, they saw the response the song got when DMC (of the group Run-DMC) blasted the track out of his Bronco in Harlem on a Saturday night. The whole block was grooving to it, says Shocklee.
In January 1988, it all fit together. You had the combination of the noise from 'Rebel,' says Chuck, the tempo of 'Bring the Noise' and the subject matter of 'Don't Believe the Hype.' It set off Takes a Nation pretty nice.

United NationsOriginally released in 2008, United Nations' eponymous debut
album was destined for commercial controversy from the
moment it was announced. The anticipation surrounding its
release was at a fever pitch as rumors circulated that the
enigmatic band's all-star lineup included members of Thursday,
Glassjaw, and Converge. When the album finally dropped, its
lawsuit-baiting artwork - essentially the originally cover of The
Beatles' Abbey Road album, with all of the Beatles engulfed in
flames - immediately forced at least one major mall retail chain
(rhymes with Not Tropic) to destroy all of the several thousands
of copies it had ordered. The album's entire pressing was then
recalled, destroyed, and repackaged with artwork presumably
less offensive to Sir Paul and Co. The vinyl has been out of print
ever since, and that original artwork has become more myth
United Nations has been remastered for this special deluxe vinyl
edition, and includes an infinite bonus track. The original
banned artwork has been restored to its litigious glory, now
expanded to include the previously unreleased panels to
complete the original triptych - all printed on a massive 12x36
full-color foldout poster. Not content to merely flirt with fire, we
have housed this infamous, inflammatory artwork inside a
custom embossed, numbered old-style gatefold jacket that is
curiously reminiscent of the original Beatles' White Album
Each album is stamped with a sequential number, in a limited

Nations To FlamesNew York metal alchemists, A STORM OF LIGHT, unleash their long-anticipated new studio offering in 2013 Entitled Nations To Flames, the 11-track follow up to the band's critically-lauded 2011 opus, As The Valley Of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade, was recorded with Travis Kammeyer (OCOAI, Generation Of Vipers) at Fahrenheit Studios in Johnson City, Tennessee, mixed with Matt Bayles (Isis, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Botch, Mastodon) at Red Room Recording in Seattle, Washington and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon. Additionally, Nations to Flames features Soundgraden's Kim Thayil and Indian/Nachtmystium's Will Lindsay on select tracks.
Centered around the apex of human failure, Nations To Flames bears witness to the fall of all governments, all nations, and all religions. The record is both musically and thematically captivating and marks the STORMcollective's darkest, most immediately punishing creation to date.
Comments A STORM OF LIGHT founding guitarist/vocalist Josh Graham "These songs are much more focused. Even the more 'epic' songs are shorter but still accomplish the same journey as the longer songs used to. We've ditched the rock elements of the last record and let our early influences of Killing Joke, Bad Brains, Metallica and Crash Worship seep in. We are bringing back the intensity of Black Ocean but with the speed and precision ore akin to our metal influences. While there are still some slower/sludgy tunes, some songs are twice as fast as the older material."1. Fall
