    In Your Honor

The Foo Fighters double album In Your Honor (2005) also marks their 10th Anniversary as a band. The first album of the 21-track, 2LP set more than lives up to Dave Grohl's mission statement of being the most ass-kicking thing we've ever done, yielding one flawless Foo Fighters barnstormer after another with the title track, Best Of You, DOA, Resolve and No Way Back. The contrasting second half showcases the sensitive side of the band that made sleeper hits out of the acoustic versions of Everlong and Times Like These with the dynamic cuts What If I Do, Miracle and Virginia Moon.

    Four Tops

The Four Tops were among a number of groups, including The Miracles, The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas, The Temptations, and The Supremes, who established the Motown Sound around the world during the 1960s. The group was the main male vocal group for the highly successful songwriting and production team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, who crafted a stream of hit singles on Motown. Their immaculate four-part harmonies gave voice to many of Motown's most enduring songs.

Their self-titled album (1964) included the singles Baby I Need Your Loving and Ask the Lonely. You'd be hard pressed to find two better singles on a debut album, both being the cornerstones of Four Tops. A debut to remember.

Stereo '57: Essential Elvis Vol. 2

Double LP set cut at 45 RPM and pressed on 200-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings!

    Mastered at Sterling Sound

    Gatefold jacket

The discovery of these 2-track masters comprising Stereo '57 - The Essential Elvis Volume 2, is nothing short of a miracle, and this 200-gram pressing cut at 45 RPM from Quality Record Pressings sounds so astonishing, your jaw will hit the floor!

From the moment Elvis began working with a new song, sound engineer Thorne Norgar had the 15 ips mono tape machine rolling simultaneously with a 2-track protection copy. The machines weren't switched to pause until Elvis was satisfied with the take.

A couple of years before the advent of the stereo LP in mid-1958, major record companies were experimenting with stereophonic recordings, often refered to then as binaural. Studios were using the new Ampex 2-track tape recorders for other purposes, such as for recording session back-ups. But few Elvis fans know how close history came to permanently losing these precious audio glimpses of a young Elvis engrossed in the creative process.

Founded in 1933, Radio Recorders of Los Angeles was the preeminent recording studio of its day, and its director of recording, long-time engineer Thorne Nogar, engineered all of the Elvis sessions from 1955 to 1961. Some of popular music's greatest hits: Jailhouse Rock, All Shook Up, Loving You, and Teddy Bear, are just a few of the blockbusters that Nogar oversaw Elvis record at the studios, located at 7000 Santa Monica Blvd.

Elvis would be right in the center of everything, at every recording session, Nogar would later recall. Like with the Jordanaires when he sang, we would set it up with a unidirectional mike, so he would be standing right in front of them, facing them, and they would have their own directional microphone and they would be singing to one another.

The 2-tracks from which this record was pressed could not have sounded better, and there was no one more careful, more experienced and technically skilled to record these historic sessions than Nogar, says Acoustic Sounds' founder and CEO Chad Kassem.

Yet one day years later when Thorne was cleaning out his tapes closet, remarkably, he set these 2-track backup tapes aside, intending to dispose of them. Noted producer Bones Howe had worked for Nogar as a tape operator at Radio Recorders, and thanks to him the tapes were saved from a final resting place in the trash can. Bones took the tapes home with him. He'd put them safely away in a bank vault.

These 2-tracks have erase clearly written on the master log sheets. They're from a January 1957 session at which Presley produced material for two EPs and the film Loving You soundtrack. They're the only known ones surviving from the pre-stereo era.

RCA's Essential Elvis series was a vehicle for the release of Presley's alternate takes. On this double LP set, listeners hear Presley at work, refining band arrangements and working through the nuances of his vocal performance. The LP reveals the Jordanaires voices' sparkling with a natural lifelike sound that's both sonically rich and detailed.

The Jordanaires, a vocal quartet originally formed as a gospel group in 1948, gained fame largely for being Elvis' background singers, both in live appearances and recordings, from 1956 to 1972. If discovering these rare, almost lost recorded treasures weren't enough, the sound reproduction puts this release over the top! When the Jordanaires sing Peace in the Valley, you'll swear you're hearing a melody sent from heaven. An audiophile's prayer come true!

There are a number of first and second takes, during which Presley and his backing musicians make tentative passes at the material. As the record progresses, arrangements take shape and Presley, growing more confident that a keeper take is imminent, sings with more enthusiasm. Throughout, Presley is heard directing the proceedings and demonstrating a lot of aw shucks charm in the process, goofing with band members and laughing through his and others', flubs.

Like other reissues pressed by QRP, this magnificent 200-gram LP is notable for its absolutely silent background. The vocal harmonies are tingle-inducing, life-sized and utterly natural.

For serious Elvis fans and anyone else interested in the creative process, Volume 2 meets the first definition of essential as well as the second: it's indispensable stuff.

    The Miracle

Following their massive 1986 European stadium tour for the A Kind of Magic album, Queen took an extended break. Rumors swirled about an impending breakup, but it turned out the break was brought on by a painful marital divorce for guitarist Brian May (who subsequently battled depression and contemplated suicide), and Freddie Mercury being diagnosed with AIDS. Instead of sinking further into misery, the band regrouped, worked on each other's mental state, and recorded one of their most inspired albums, 1989's The Miracle. Lyrically, the songs tend to reflect on the band's past accomplishments (Khashoggi's Ship, Was It All Worth It) as well as the state of the world in the late '80s (the title track, I Want It All). Produced by the band and David Richards, The Miracle packs quite a sonic punch, recalling the rich sounds of their past classics (1976's A Day at the Races, etc.). Split 50/50 between pop (Breakthru, The Invisible Man, Rain Must Fall) and heavy rock (the aforementioned I Want It All, Khashoggi's Ship, Was It All Worth It), the album was another global smash, even re-establishing the band stateside (going Top 30 and attaining gold status). Along with The Game, The Miracle is Queen's strongest album of the '80s.

    Miracle Mile

Starfucker provided the soundtrack to over 100 ecstatic sold-out dance parties in tiny, sweaty rooms over the past two years. Word of mouth has spread and the band now find themselves in even larger venues, with brighter lights and bigger songs.

The four-piece collaborated in the process of writing Starfucker's third album, Miracle Mile. After all-night lyric writing sessions and fleshing out song skeletons that first formed on the road, there isn't a single song on Miracle Mile that every member of Starfucker didn't contribute to and ultimately improve. "While I'm Alive," is a song that bursts out of the gate with what can only be described as swagger. Not overconfidence or false bravado, but the undeniable sound of a band that knows exactly who they are: swirling keyboards that take you up, down, and all around, rhythmic guitars, irresistible basslines, and drums that keep an unrelenting beat.

Miracle Mile truly coalesces as a complete whole that couldn't have come together any other way.

Arthur's Landing is a broad collective of musicians that worked with the late and revered Downtown New York composer, cellist and singer Arthur Russell at different times during his career, from his experimental acoustic work (World Of Echo) to his disco-influenced projects (Loose Joints, Dinosaur L). Led by guitarist Steven Hall, the band is committed to sustaining the creative and performance ethic of his time and the line-up comprises a core of six members, all respected musicians in their own right, with guests joining for specific recordings and live shows.

The debut Arthur's Landing album comprises entirely new versions of Russell songs, some known, some never previously heard, and is produced and mixed by Brennan Green and the band's Peter Zummo. Tracks include a new mid-tempo update of the Loose Joints anthem Is It All Over My Face, re-worked as Love Dancing, Your Motion Says complete with Santur intro and In The Light Of The Miracle re-worked as Miracle 2 featuring original co-composer Elodie Lauten. Sun Down

Nik Freitas' Team Love debut, Sun Down, equal parts wry, warm and sonorous, is the end product of several years of lifeƆs ups and downs. Freitas writes, plays, engineers and produces every note on his records. Not that he's got a lot of expensive gear. A visit to his Poppy Peak studio/shed reveals that Nik is working low-budget minor miracles, the kind of miracles one receives via hundreds of hours on Craigslist. One listen to Sun Down and you know you're hearing a certain hard-won grace. The record takes you from Paul Simon's Graceland to David Bowie's Hunky Dory all in the span of forty effortless minutes. Sun Down is endowed with a sort of gravity and self-possession; no reaching, no going for the gold, just perfect, four minute thesis statements. It all began several years ago for Freitas, when a co-worker sold him an antique piano that was used by a street musician before the dawn of Casio. Nik taught himself how to play the thing, and it became the cornerstone of three earlier records, Here's Laughing at You, Heavy Mellow and Voicing the Hammers. Other people began to take notice. He's opened for Jason Lytle of Granddaddy, played guitar for Jim Fairchild of All Smiles and recorded with Miles Kurosky of Beulah. Lately, he's been opening shows for Bright Eyes which led him to his current resting place at Team Love. The end of the imaginary side one features Sophie with live horns punctuating the tale of a girl who seems to have made some rather unfortunate choices. It's a perfect signpost of a song, and it clears the decks for what's to come in the second half, where Nik's orchestra of one builds the final five songs into an Abbey Road type suite that fans of Jon Brion will hearken to. Sun Down is imbued with a sort of indie grandeur that is both unexpected and totally natural.

    Bus Stop

No rest for the Hollies in 1966! Hot on the heels of Beat Group!, Bus Stop rolled into U.S. record shops, right on schedule. Written by Gouldman, the title track became the bands first Top Ten U.S. single, peaking at #5, and featuring their bell-tone harmonies to perfection. In addition to the sparkling single, the album is packed with their renditions of contemporary hits like Simon and Garfunkel's I Am A Rock, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' Mickey's Monkey' and the Fred Neil/Roy Orbison chestnut Candy Man. Self-penned songs We're Through, Don't Run and Hide and You Know He Did also shine brightly and prove there was no danger of covering up the band members writing skills. With this disc, the Hollies put the rock world on notice that they were the British Invasions most beat-filled battalion!

Out of print for decades, this classic album is FINALLY available again. Sourced from the aurally awesome original U.K. mono master, this LP is pressed on pristine 180-gram vinyl per your turntables request. Get in the queue!

Perhaps the most undervalued band of the original British Invasion, The Hollies hits are well known in the U.S. but their early albums are almost impossible to find! Taking their name from Buddy Holly and modeling their harmonies on the Everly Brothers, the Hollies gathered these American musical ingredients and whipped them into a wholly-UKnique concoction. Forging their sound to the east of their Liverpool brothers-in-beat, this Manchester quintet had it all: the soaring vocals of Allan Clarke, Graham Nash and Tony Hicks; Hicks cascading, arpeggio-laden licks on guitar and a hard-hitting rhythm section driven by drummer extraordinaire Bobby Elliot. On top of that, their keen ears for top quality songs, written by the premier songsmiths of the day like teenage wunderkind Graham Gouldman, Chip Wild Thing Taylor and the stellar in-house writing team of Clarke/Hicks/Nash, ensured that their albums were extraordinary from start to finish. In short, they were a band that exuded greatness on all fronts. Now, as that greatness has been acknowledged by their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Sundazed Music is proud to present meticulously restored vinyl editions of the rare U.S. mono versions of the Hollies third and fourth Imperial label albums, from 1966.

    Dear Miss Lonelyhearts

Long Beach blues rockers Cold War Kids present their fourth studio album, Dear Miss Lonely Hearts. Marking the band's first new material since the release of 2011s Mine Is Yours, the album was recorded in their California studio with producer Lars Stalfors (The Mars Volta, Matt & Kim). It's the first release to feature former Modest Mouse member Dann Gallucci, who replaced the Jonathan Russell earlier this year.

Lead singer Nathan Willett said of the new album: "We were shaken up, ready to let certain songs go further than before by trying new styles and arrangements, while keeping others sparse and caring more about the finished product and less about how we got there."

The album will be preceded by lead single "Miracle Mile. The track features ragtime piano in the mould of earlier Cold War Kids tracks, with crashing drums and guitar building to a minimalist pop chorus showcasing Willett's expressive vocals.

In bowling's hallowed alleys, a strike is the minor miracle of all ten pins falling at once. Back-to-back strikes make a double. Do it a third time and you've got yourself a turkey. History will decide which sports metaphor to apply to Mike Krol's first two records, I Hate Jazz (2011) and Trust Fund (2013). But as needle meets groove on Turkey-Krol's first record for Merge-there is no ambiguity. A shiny black ball tumbles past the suburban strip malls of a polyestered Wisconsin and veers precariously close to an East Coast gutter before gathering momentum in a physics-defying sprint for the Pacific. California is where the headpin falls-the right velocity, the perfect geometry, the bowler's intent beautifully realized in a noisy moment of awesome destruction. Mike Krol got his bike stolen and his heart broken. He bailed on graphic-design-as-career. He kept playing drums and guitars, and he kept writing songs about the stuff he hated and the stuff he loved. Leaving Milwaukee for Los Angeles, he took a few years' worth of wrong turns. But when he showed up at a studio in Sacramento in March 2014, he had his affairs in order. Plug the vocal mic into a guitar amp. Plug the guitar into an overheating box of vacuum tubes. Put the computer in the closet. Roll the tape.

    Extra Virgin

First Pressing Of 750 Numbered Copies On Blue Vinyl

    4-Page Booklet Included

Includes Bonus Track You're Not Alone

Extra Virgin was the first release for British Trip Hop band Olive, released in 1996. This album defined Olive's style, spawning three singles, You're Not Alone, Outlaw, and Miracle. The Trip Hop influence of Massive Attack and Portishead, while in small quantities, are evident, mixed in with synth-based electronic dance.

A year after its initial release, Olive's debut album Extra Virgin produced a number one British hit with You're Not Alone, a low-key Trip-Hop number with a graceful melody. It's a strong single, and there are similarly strong moments on Extra Virgin.

The band created some samples by recording live sounds, edited and subsequently filtered. Synthesizers used on the album were a Roland Juno-60, an E-mu Systems Vintage Keys, and an Akai S3000XL sampler. All in all this makes for an organic, trippy experience.

New Supergroup featuring Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone and A.R. Rahman

Mick Jagger has teamed up with Eurythmics founder Dave Stewart, soul singer Joss Stone, Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack composer A.R. Rahman, and reggae star Damian Marley to form a band cooperative project called SuperHeavy. This diverse and eclectic line-up who share eleven Grammy Awards between them, have been recording together in various studios around the world, with the majority of the tracks on the project laid down over three weeks in Los Angeles in early 2011. Tracks include the first single Miracle Worker plus One Day One Night, Energy, Unbelievable, SuperHeavy, I Can't Take It No More, You're Never Gonna Change and I Don't Mind.

It's little wonder that Stewart refers to SuperHeavy as, A mad alchemist type experiment. Fusing the talents of one of the greatest front-men of all time, a two time Academy award winning Indian composer, a soul vocal prodigy, a three-time Grammy winning reggae star, and one of the most sought after producers in the world, you would expect the explosive results to defy categorization.

SuperHeavy came together after Jagger and Stewart considered what a band comprising of musicians from different genres would sound like. Jagger explains, Dave really wanted to make a record with a different group of musicians, in other words, with different backgrounds of music. Instead of everyone being a rock musician, or basically a blues musician, or some other genre, he wanted to get as many genres together that would fit. I said it sounds like a good idea. I never thought it would actually happen.
