    In Time

With a Cuban-American lead singer, garage-band ferocity, an intense live show and a deep love of both romance and pure country to go with the polyrhythmic beats they were raised on, the Mavericks were unlikely superstars. And yet, they distilled country's essences, bulked them up with big, raucous sound, then broke ground for the format that saw people from all walks of life, many cultures and some surprising places lining up for hits like Here Comes The Rain, Crying Shame, Dance The Night Away and All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down.

Twenty years later, the little-band-that-could returns, more soulful and innovative than ever. For their first sessions in almost a decade, it was spontaneous combustion; literally, the band falling into step with the euphoria they were known for. And they built quite an album from there. It took life for us to get to this point - everybody was so free. From the first notes, it sounded like an explosion of sound; we went wehere the songs took us with a singularity of purpose. We came into make music as grown-ups, to make music as men, says lead singer Raul Malo.

    Brand New Day

The genre-defying Mavericks are declaring their independence and stepping out on their own with Brand New Day, the first studio album released on Mono Mundo Recordings, the label they founded in 2016. Brand New Day is the follow-up to the widely praised albums Mono (2015) and In Time (2013).

Flashing the same exhilarating, beyond-category style that has defined the Mavericks, the new album introduces a collection of taut, energetic, economical songs sure to be embraced by both original fans of their top-10 albums and hit singles of the '90s and a new generation of listeners who have joined the party since their triumphant 2012 reunion. It is the mature and timely work of an exciting and underestimated American band that has embraced its own destiny.

    Mono

Raul Malo, whose signature tenor fronts The Mavericks, penned each of the standard 11 tracks on "MONO" in addition to teaming up with Niko Bolas once again for producing duties. With a palpable connection, founding members Paul Deakin (Drums, Percussion and Marimba), Eddie Perez (Electric and Acoustic Guitars) and Jerry Dale McFadden (Piano, Organ, Celeste) add magic to each song. The project features The Fantastic Four, longtime backing musicians: Michael Guerra (Accordion and Percussion), Max Abrams (Saxophones), Paul Armstrong (Trumpets) and Jay Weaver (Upright Bass and Tuba), who bring even more gusto to The Mavericks' already indescribable musical trance.

"With MONO we started with less purpose and more passion, hoping to do what music is supposed to do, evoke a vibe that naturally takes each listener somewhere different," said Malo. "That's what happened to each of us as we went in the studio and listened to old vinyl before recording. There was just a beauty to the sound that inspired how we developed these songs and even why we chose to record in mono. One of the things we found interesting as we listened to playback in 'mono' - usually at the end of each day - was how 'finished' the songs sounded. In turn the album has but a few overdubs and that works in our favor because each part played counts for a lot. Our hope is to present this album almost exactly as it was recorded."

Time Out! Time In For Them

Originally released in 1968, this album was recorded after vocalist Van Morrison left the band and while they were moving their home base to California, plunging full on into the Psychedelic maelstrom they helped create. Produced by Texas rockabilly maverick Ray Ruff, this is the sound of Them through the bizarro filter of California Acid tests. From a psych-punk historical perspective, Van Morrison made a big mistake leaving... though his buddy Kenny McDowell does the job just fine.

    Live In Germany 2000

In this 2000 concert Emmylou Harris combined tasteful choices from her early repertoire with newer work, often her owncompositions, backed by the band she called Spyboy, which featured the hard-working guitarist and singer Buddy Miller. When Emmylou Harris arrived as a country radio artist in the mid 1970s, she had an immediate and intense impact on a movement toward greater authenticity in country that also included artists like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings.

Nelson and Jennings came out of the Nashville industry and were breaking new ground in that industry, changing their looks and sounds to accommodate social and musical changes of the 1960s that much of Nashville country had explicitly opposed. Harris, however, came from outside, an emissary to commercial country from the 1960s folk and rock toward which Nashville mavericks were already leaning. With her dark, natural, hippie-ish beauty, her ethereally powerful soprano, and her fascination with the grittier roots of country music,Harris broke molds established for both women
and new artists in Nashville country.

A thrilling debut for one of the most original British bands of the '90s. A romantic and elegant chamber pop masterpiece that mixes indie rock forms, the maverick pop song craft of a Lee Hazlewood and/or Van Dyke Parks, and the dark charm and hip romanticism of Ian Curtis, Scott Walker and Leonard Cohen.

While in the U.K. it was named album of the year (1993) by Melody Maker, in the U.S. Rolling Stone wrote: The 1st Tindersticks album draws inspiration from the playful narrative style of producer Lee Hazlewood, the Cinemascope orchestrations of John Barry and the twilight-zone claustrophobia of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. 180 gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

    In The Pink Of Condition

Recorded at Seahorse Sound Studios in LA and produced by long-time cohort, fellow Welsh ÉmigrÉ and musical maven Cate le Bon, In the Pink Of Condition is his 3rd album, following 2010's A Cup Of Salt and 2011's The Strange Uses Of Ox Gall.

An album of "strange pop" (words borrowed from Huw) it's a controlled explosion of lazer-guided guitar melody - think a careering Television show or Pavement outside the original site of Spillers - and whip smart bi-lingual wordplay.

Although reluctant to cite a shopping list's worth of influences, Huw nods to two permanent inspirations - the maverick U.S. author Richard Brautigan (the Hawkline name appropriated from Brautigan's 1974 'gothic western' The Hawkline Monster) and a just-turned-solo Paul McCartney (Huw namechecks Ram, an album coincidentally recorded when the once-and-future Beatle was also twenty-nine). From the former, a wistful ways with words - songs constructed as slices of life, surrealist observations on the everyday. From the latter - what else would one ask for other than a just smidgeon of MCCartney's six sense for abundant, tumbling melody?

    Tomorrow Is The Question!

The springboard in Ornette Coleman's pursuit of freedom of expression as a soloist, Tomorrow Is The Question! is notable for its lack of piano, which the
saxophone maverick chose to strike from the record in favor of a quartet composed of drummer Shelly Manne, trumpeter Don Cherry, and alternatingly
Percy Heath and Red Mitchell on bass. Coleman's belief was that removing piano and thus layers of harmonic structure, would allow the soloists to truly
roam freely around the tune, pioneering new dimensions in sonic interplay. As a result, Tomorrow Is the Question! was a very literal title; where would
Coleman's iconoclastic vision take him next? The free-jazz pioneer was just getting started, and what a dazzling start it is! This essential document of
American Jazz History is now available on vinyl.

    Dynamite Steps

Greg Dulli and Co. Return With Their Most Ambitious, Cohesive Record to Date

    Extraordinary Singing and Transcendent Arrangements

Whenever youre here, youre alive are the first words sung on Dynamite Steps, the fifth album from Greg Dullis Twilight Singers collective, and the groups first in five years. The Twilight Singers previous release, the acclaimed confessional opus Powder Burns, came out in 2006.

Dynamite Steps is clearly the next chapter, a whole new level of catharsis and progress, evocatively cramming all the highs and lows of the maverick singer/songwriters past half-decade into unexpected sonic trapdoors. Shot on location at various locales significant to Dullis life, you can hear the sense of place emanating up from the grooves of Dynamite Steps. Here, the weary nighttime decadence of New Orleans rubs up against the oppressive sunshine of Los Angeles and the desolation of Joshua Trees desert vistas.

Dynamite Steps explores the thin line between life and death, mortality and immortality, resignation and celebration that mythical moment when your life flashes before your eyes, drawn out here over the course of eleven songs. The albums forty-three minutes prove an unflinching odyssey through the dark side, but one thats ultimately redemptive in its scope and power.

A metallic rush of guitars and thundering drums, Deftones' music both epitomizes the hard-and-fast glory of post-grunge alt-metal and blows it wide open with innovation. As the Northern California-bred quintet evolved through a string of acclaimed albums and incessant, high-velocity touring, they also incorporated modern rock influences including The Cure and The Smiths into their Soundgarden/Tool/Rage Against the Machine/Pantera-inspired sonics. Now Maverick's new compilation sheds light on lesser-known output with covers, unreleased mixes, video B-Roll, and other choice rarities.

PayJay Productions, Inc. was the company James Dewitt J Dilla Yancey founded in 2001 to house his production company and his publishing company. But it was also a symbolic move: PayJay was a sign that the maverick producer then known as Jay Dee would see his individual goals in music industry realized, and he would get paid in the process.

The Estate of James Yancey has revived PayJay as a functioning imprint, and is announcing its release of J Dilla's long lost vocal album, The Diary. The Estate of James Yancey is administered by attorney Alex Borden and overseen by the Probate Court of the State of California on behalf of Yancey's four heirs - his mother, Maureen Madukes Yancey, his brother John Illa J Yancey and his two daughters, Ja'Mya Yancey and Ty-monae Whitlow.

Anthem and Trucks were two of the songs J Dilla recorded in late 2001 and early 2002 as he put the finishing touches on what was supposed to be an album featuring his raps over production by the likes of Madlib, Pete Rock, Nottz, House Shoes, Karriem Riggins and others. These two tracks, however, were produced by Dilla himself.

These tracks come straight from multi-track masters found on 2-inch tape shortly after Dilla's passing in 2006. These songs have been mixed by engineer Dave Cooley, who worked extensively with Dilla during his years in Los Angeles. Using Dilla's original demo mixes as his guide, Cooley attempted to finalize Dilla's vision for these tracks, while keeping all of the elements that Dilla had in place in his original demos present.

Rounding out this 12 is Dilla's original mix of Trucks discovered as a two-track demo mix. We've included this mix as it features an alternate version of Dilla's vocals and a third verse not found on Dilla's final sessions for this song.

    Snakes And Ladders

Wiley is a national treasure. - Guardian

The most divisive and prolific figure in UK hip-hop. - Times

You'd be a fool to ignore him. - NME

    Infuriatingly irresistible... - Clash

Wiley remains one of the biggest characters and wildest talents in British music. Whether helping younger artists break through (Dizzee, Chipmunk, Tinchy) offloading hundreds of unreleased tracks on Twitter, rowing with detractors or doling out private insights on the web - he is always in the studio. Ultimately a workaholic, he's the kind of artist one can imagine making groundbreaking, avant-garde music well into his old age. A true maverick and an artist in the truest sense of the word.

Ranked 452/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Music is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Madonna, released on September 19, 2000 by Maverick Records and distributed by Warner Bros. Records. Following the success of her previous album Ray of Light, she intended to embark in a tour. However, her record company encouraged her to return to the studio and record new music before going on the road. After filming the film The Next Best Thing, she began working on her new album, with producers like Mirwais Ahmadzaï, William Orbit, Guy Sigsworth, Mark Spike Stent and Talvin Singh. Music has an overall electronic and dance-pop vibe. However, the album also contains elements of rock, country and folk, also incluiding the use of vocoder on many tracks, such as Nobody's Perfect.

Upon its release, the album received universal acclaim from critics, who praised Madonna's collaboration with Mirwais Ahmadzaï, as well as the album's musical creativity, however criticizing Madonna's collaborations with William Orbit, despite calling them catchy. It was nominated for a total of five Grammys at the 43rd Grammy Awards, although it eventually won only one award. Music debuted at number one in over 23 countries around the world, and was Madonna's first album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 in 11 years since Like a Prayer (1989), being certified three times platinum the Recording Industry Association of America. Hypnophobia

Hypnophobia, the brand new album from 'baroque pop' prince and
Dutch producer/multi-instrumentalist Jacco Gardner, casts a majestic
and vibrant psychedelic spell that will hypnotise listeners at the point
    dreams and reality meet.

Capturing a true sense of exploration, Hypnophobia combines
Gardner's newfound love of travel with his continued passion for
collecting and playing vintage instruments. A stunning exhibit of lush
instrumental tracks as well as songs that boast lyrics worthy of any
great pop number, the record features a Wurlitzer electric piano that
was purchased on tour, waltzing alongside mellotrons, harpsichords,
an Optigan, and an antique Steinway upright piano sold to Gardner by
    a local church.

Akin to the sonic boom of maverick contemporaries John Maus, and
Tame Impala, his is a sound that holds fast next to fellow paisley
performers Syd Barrett and Curt Boettcher, with the airy dynamics of
Stereolab or Simon & Garfunkel. Yet what truly marks Gardner from
his musical ancestors and accomplices is his forward-thinking, hi-tech
approach; "Hypnophobia is the next step into an alternate reality
influenced by the present. I'm so inspired by today's technology that
many things I do were not possible in the past."
