    The Gift (On Sale)

The Jam is the band of The Modfather Paul Weller.
Although The Jam emerged at the same time as Punk Rock, The Jam better fitted the mold of the New Wave bands who came later.

Also, being from just outside London rather than in it, they were never really part of the tightly-knit punk clique. They became hugely popular with their blend of pop melodies and Weller's barbed lyrics.
In 1982 Weller announced that The Jam would disband at the end of the year.

The announcement came as a shock to Foxton and Buckler, who felt that the band still had many years left.
The Gift is their sixth and final studio album.
Released on 12 March 1982, it reached #1 on the British charts.

    Shackles Gift

Zun Zun Egui formed in Bristol in late 2008 - Mauritian guitarist and singer Kushal Gaya met and started making music with Japanese keyboard player Yoshino Shigihara after they had both moved to the UK and a core group of musicians soon formed around them. A love for experimentation, free jazz, fusion, DIY culture, throwing parties and playing wild shows was the glue that bonded the outfit together. After an early clutch of raw and experimental EPs, they focused their song-writing talents and mastery of many styles to create a recognisable Zun Zun Egui sound which included tropicalia, punk funk, Afrobeat, Ethio jazz and no wave. All of these varied disciplines were marshalled to produce their first album "Katang" which was widely hailed as one of the most exciting debuts of 2011. Even for a band as exploratory and talented as ZZE though, the step up in terms of songwriting and inspiration since "Katang" is astounding and it is clear that Shackles' Gift looks like being one of the most unique and thrilling records that will be released in 2015.

Produced by Andrew Hung of Fuck Buttons, "Shackles' Gift" is the album that Zun Zun Egui have always threatened to deliver and we always believed they would. Opening with 'Rigid Man', it hits the listener with bone-shaking tropical funk. Future single 'African Tree' strolls past on a marching band rhythm, complete with an arena-sized chorus and Kyuss-heavy stoner rock guitars. 'Ruby' is like imperial period Depeche Mode discovering the delights of industrial dancehall reggae, while 'I Want You To Know' is an absolute funk/noise rock monster, sounding like Steve Albini recording Queens Of The Stone Age jamming on 'Kashmir'. 'Soul Scratch' is a very British take on a very Mauritian form of music called seggae, which combines the African island folk music known as sega with reggae, but imbuing it with an adrenalised urban uptightness. The album concludes with 'City Thunder' an elemental, dubbed out and dread take on post rock and disco.

Frontman Kushal says that first and foremost "Shackles' Gift" is a British rock record made by a British group but admits that the first sparks of its creation started flying when ZZE visited Mauritius in March 2013. The African island nation, which lies 700 miles east of Madagascar, deep in the Indian Ocean, invited the band to give a concert as part of their Independence Day celebrations. The island's dynamic history has led to a multi-lingual, multi-cultural modern nation which has influenced Zun Zun Egui in more ways than one. Not only has Mauritian music been one of the (many) primary ingredients of their sound and inspired Kushal's multi-lingual approach to singing (the island has 12 main languages) but the diversity of the country acts as a metaphor for the diversity of the group itself.

The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard and Clark

In 1965 Missouri-born Gene Clark was riding the crest of unprecedented success and adulation as a member of the Byrds. Anointed as America's answer to the Beatles, the Byrds topped the charts with folk-rock anthems like Mr. Tambourine Man, Turn! Turn! Turn! and Eight Miles High. Gene was front and center as tambourine player, singer and principal songwriter for the group. But in early 1966 he flew the Byrds' coop. A gifted songwriter, expectations ran high for a stellar solo career, but those hopes were dashed when his debut solo album and single both failed to chart. Dropped by Columbia Records the following year, Gene's career remained in limbo until teaming up with banjo player extraordinaire Doug Dillard.

What emerged from a series of informal jam sessions in and around Laurel Canyon was a loose-knit group of pickers seeking to break bluegrass music out of its traditional confines and redefine it in a contemporary country-rock context. The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark is a groundbreaking album that helped define country-rock and set the template not only for that genre but the entire alt-country, Americana and Roots Rock movements of the '90s. Together with future Eagle Bernie Leadon, who co-wrote Train Leaves Here This Morning, with Gene (featured both on the Fantastic Expedition album and later on the Eagels' debut release), the Dillard & Clark merger represents a high-water mark in Gene Clark's impressive anon of recordings and one of the most satisfying periods in his often troubled career.

The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark ranks among a handful of seminal 1960s country-rock experiments. I think we made our mark in country rock, muses Doug Dillard. We didn't make the charts but we sure influenced a lot of people. To insure that their influence carries on, Sundazed proudly presents this newly mastered edition, sourced from the original A&M analog tapes, available on resonant high-definition vinyl packaged in a vibrant recreation of the original cover artwork.

    Big Wheel And Others

Big Wheel and Others is Cass McCombs' seventh-and-a-half album and the follow-up to 2011's pair of
releases WIT'S END and HUMOR RISK.

This behemoth comprises twenty-two songs (or, as they are more often and unfortunately known in the
After Compact Disc-hereafter "ACD" era-tracks). But "double album" is a loaded phrase, right? It implies bloat, prog, and concept. So, let's stick with "songs." Big Wheel and Others is a bundle, a bindle,
a hay bale, and an oil barrel of songs. Some of the genres that are to be found in varying degrees in the songs on this album are: Road songs, rock songs, folk songs, blues songs, country songs, rhythm and
blues songs, skronk non-songs, cinema songs, cult songs, poem songs, jams, and ballads.

It's brimming with Cass's singular gift for evocative storytelling, discerning introspection, and heartrending melody delivered through a haze of mystery and romance - and is his most encompassing
work to date, a bold new chapter in the myth of this fascinating and singular artist.

The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion

The addition of the more technically gifted guitarist Marc Ford and a full-time organist gives the Black Crowes room to stretch out on The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, perhaps the band's finest moment. Using Rich Robinson's descending chord progressions as a base, the band grooves its way through a remarkably fresh-sounding collection of Faces-like rockers and ballads, tearing into the material with flair and confidence and really coming into its own as a top-notch rock & roll outfit. But while the focus is undeniably on the band's musical chemistry, Southern Harmony also boasts a strong collection of songs, striking a perfect balance between the concise Shake Your Money Maker and their later, more jam-oriented records. While there aren't as many obvious singles as on their debut album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is the best expression of the Crowes' ability to take a classic, tried-and-true sound and make it their own.

Eazy Duz It (25th Anniversary Edition)

    Remastered 25th Anniversary Edition

Released only a month after Straight Outta Compton (1988), Eazy-Duz-It was the first N.W.A spin-off album. Years before Ice Cube went solo with Amerikkka's Most Wanted (1990), before Dr. Dre changed the rap game with The Chronic (1992), before MC Ren struggled to establish himself with Shock of the Hour (1993), and before Yella simply fell into obscurity, Eazy-E rose to immediate superstar status with this solo debut. It's no wonder why, for the album plays like a humorous, self-centered twist on Straight Outta Compton with Eazy-E, the most charismatic member of N.W.A, front and center while his associates are busy behind the scenes, producing the beats and writing the songs.

In terms of production, Dr. Dre and Yella meld together P-Funk, Def Jam-style hip-hop, and the leftover electro sounds of mid-'80s Los Angeles, creating a dense, funky, and thoroughly unique style of their own. In terms of songwriting, the D.O.C., Ice Cube, and MC Ren are each credited; plus, Ren performs raps of his own on five of the 12 songs.

The collaborative nature of the music -- with Dre and Yella producing; the D.O.C., Ice Cube, and MC Ren writing the songs; MC Ren featured as a guest on half of them; and Eazy-E performing -- fortunately makes Eazy-Duz-It more of an N.W.A effort than a true solo album. This is fortunate because as charismatic as he may be, Eazy-E isn't an especially gifted MC. He's at his best here when he's cracking wise and also when he's overshadowed by Dr. Dre's productions, particularly on the four-song sequence of Eazy Duz It, We Want Eazy, Eazy-er Said Than Dunn, and Radio -- all heavily produced songs with layers upon layers of samples and beats competing with Eazy-E's rhymes for attention.

Straight Outta Compton is no doubt the more revolutionary album, yet Eazy-Duz-It is a great companion, showcasing N.W.A's sense of humor and, despite the often violent subject matter, casting them in a lighter, more humorous mood. When Eazy-E would return with a second solo release, 5150 Home 4 tha Sick, his N.W.A associates would be M.I.A. and the difference would be stark.
