    Talon Of The Hawk

Produced by Chris "Frenchie" Smith (And You Will Know Us by the Trail
of Dead, Meat Puppets, Built to Spill, Jet)

Featured in "100 Bands to Watch 2013" Alternative Press.

At the core of Talon of the Hawk, is the crazy hybrid of slamming rock drumming and acoustic guitar The Front Bottoms are known for, but this time the band augments their sound with electric guitars, synths, even a little accordion. Brian Sella's confident heartfelt vocals that will have you laughing one minute, crying the next and then maybe pumping your fist and singing along when you least suspect it. Talon of the Hawk rocks harder than their debut and it is more complex in both subject matter and arrangements. Once this sucker gets it's claws in, you're going to soar.

    You're Gonna Miss It All

Philadelphia's Modern Baseball are a uniquely contemporary band. Their
quirky, tuneful songs convey how it feels to be young and hopeless in modern
America-a cracked cellphone clutched in one's hand, subconsciously refreshing
social media, hoping to get noticed by that girl at the party and ignored by
the ghosts from high school past. Calling on Say Anything's bravado, the Front
Bottoms' tongue-in-cheek quirk and the Weakerthans' literary misery, Modern
Baseball have made a record with remarkable depth and relate-ability.

    Pressed On Colored Vinyl

You Blew It have returned with their highly anticipated, 3rd full-length album. Titled Abendrot (a German word for 'afterglow' or 'sunset') and once again joining producer Evan Weiss (Into It Over It), it finds the band making a strong and confident leap forward. One moment hushed and delicate, the next anthemic and passioned. Lyrically shying away from nothing, the band tackles everything from mortality and religion to relationships, anxiety and more. Since the release of 2014's Keep Doing What You're Doing, You Blew It has found critical acclaim from outlets like Pitchfork, C.O.S., USA Today and many others as well as maintaining a tireless touring schedule, sharing the stage with the likes of The Front Bottoms, Say Anything, Citizen, Coheed & Cambria, Motion City Soundtrack to name a few.

Marantz HD-DAC1 Headphone Amplifier with DAC-mode

This ultra-high quality dedicated Headphone Amplifier creates simply amazing sound because it uses Current Feedback amplification technologies from Marantz's high-end Premium 11 Series. Headphones have always added extra intensity to music, now with the Marantz HD-DAC1 that intensity reaches new climactic heights. This completely new product category comes with a new design, but as always with the unmistakable Marantz family resemblance.

The powerful HD-DAC1 can drive audiophile high-impedance headphones up to 600 ohm - with complete MODE ease. All thanks to its three-level gain control, Marantz HDAM-SA2 modules, a high current audiophile DAC (CS4398), and its Premium Quality fixed and variable RCA outputs. It is so powerful it not only drives headphones, you can also directly connect it to your Hi-Fi integrated amplifier or to a pair of active speakers or power amps. It's also highly connectable.

Optical and coaxial digital inputs as well as a USB-B port enable you to stream music directly from your PC or MAC; iDevices can also be connected via the USB port on the front. For even more connectivity we have also included an analog input. The USB-B works in asynchronous mode to support not only 192 kHz / 24bits high-resolution audio but also the DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz for maximized performance and the most direct way to enjoy excellent quality. To safeguard quality when connected to a computer, we built extended isolation around the USB-B input to eliminate the chance of a high frequency noise being generated by the computer when entering the HD-DAC1. We even included a jitter remover and Dual Clock for extreme accuracy. Info on volume, input, resolution, etc. is shown on the stylish Marantz Porthole Display. The solid aluminum front is supported by a double layer bottom plate and retro-style side panels. Pure craftsmanship.

Flipping through the pages of Weatherbox, A History, one encounters some sordid tales: strained friendships, hairs grayed,
vans stolen and flipped, a good old-fashioned cowboy-stomping and of course, drug-induced psychosis. However, since
the release of their seminal American Art in 2007, Weatherbox ignored every warning sign the cosmos hurled in their
direction and released batch after batch of unique and personal songs via two LP's, one EP, two singles and too many
compilation tracks to count. They have toured tens of thousands of U.S. highway miles with their friends in Say Anything,
Bad Books, The Front Bottoms and many others. Now freshly signed to Triple Crown Records/Favorite Gentleman,

Desert Island-Worthy Paradise and Lunch Will Renew Your Faith in Music: Diverse 1974 Ry Cooder Set Comes on Like a Secret History of Song, Features Exquisite Interplay and Inspirational Harmonies

Paradise and Lunch Mastered on 180g Vinyl from the Original Master Tapes, Pressed at RTI, and Strictly Limited to 3000 Numbered Copies: Mobile Fidelity LP Graced With Organic Sound

Ry Cooder's exceptional Paradise and Lunch takes a popular precept - music as the common denominator across all languages and styles - to extremes few artists have envisioned let alone fulfilled. Considered by many diehards to be the California native's finest hour, the 1974 set unfurls with rarified levels of joyousness, ingenuity, and sophistication. A prime contender for any Desert Island list and an album that repeatedly restores your faith in the inimitable effects experienced upon listening to special performances, Paradise and Lunch is an eternal musicians' musician record - an adventurous, ambitious, soulful leap down roads well-traveled and paths less known.

Such eclecticism, virtuosity, and ebullience resonate with unmatched verve on Mobile Fidelity's 180g LP reissue. Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3000 numbered copies, this vinyl LP boasts dead-quiet surfaces, superb transient response, front-to-back soundstaging, and an organic immediacy that heightens the enjoyment, character, and craft of the arrangements. Cooder's inspired guitar playing sounds tremendously lifelike, replete with proper scale, full-bodied tones, and a sense of decay that presents the trail ends of each note. Horns pop with three-dimensional detail and brassy colors. Akin to the contributions of all the all-star participants, Jim Keltner's percussion benefits from added stability and depth. Paradise and Lunch has never been more transparent.

On the surface a collection of seemingly disparate jazz, blues, spiritual, and roots songs, the diversified album comes across as a secret history of music. It remains a paragon of seamless convergence in which sonic DNA differences reveal shared traits and quilt a fabric united by feeling, reinvention, and elation. Beginning with a recast rendition of a traditional folk number, Tamp 'Em Up Solid, believed to be a close descendant of the group-vocal tune sung by field hands when they stacked bales of cotton, and ending with a stirring stripped-down cover of Arthur Blake's Ditty Wah Ditty - a show-stealing duet sent up with just an acoustic guitar and jazz icon Earl Fatha Hines' spritely walking-the-line piano riffs - Paradise and Lunch charms with exquisite interplay, inspirational harmonies, and innate flair.

At no point do the experimentations sound forced, artificial, or retro. Cooder transforms what initially appear to be obscurities into coherent, approachable songs that could have been recorded yesterday - or decades ago. In his world, a marvelous reggae-spiced and R&B-driven rendition of Bobby Womack's It's All Over Now coexists with a sanctified, harmony-based march through the gospel hymn Jesus on the Mainline anchored by restrained Dixieland accents and tolling bells. Another standard, albeit more modern, Burt Bacharach's Mexican Divorce strolls across dusty plains via gently clopping beats, shimmering Spanish motifs, and sympathetic support vocals.

Cooder also turns up the electricity a smidge for his idea of Bobby Miller's If Walls Could Talk, a melodic snapshot of doo-wop shot through with reverb-drenched grooves. He rains funky vibes, chicken-scratch slide guitar, and churchgoing lessons down on a top-to-bottom remake of Blind Willie McTell's Married Man's a Fool, the revision evocative of the imagination, proficiency, and blending that help make Paradise and Lunch an absolute must-own album - and now, an audiophile choice for those wished-for Desert Island trips.

    Handcrafted in the USA

Tried and true: The Manley 500 and 250 Watt Monoblocks are our most powerful push-pull production-models. Both the circuit design and the selected componentry have been refined over years and years of development. Reliability that you can depend upon combined with musical accuracy and emotional authority is what these amplifiers promise- and deliver. They are able to switch operation modes allowing the listener to choose between the sonically seductive qualities of triode and the more powerful Ultra-Linear configuration. We use big, beefy reservoir capacitors in the high voltage supplies giving plenty of instant energy for dynamic performance of transient peaks and bass impact and weight which often exceeds that of rival solid-state amplifiers. We run high voltages on the plates of the output tubes but operate them at lower current which will result in their longer life. Although each output tube has its own bias-adjust, We carefully fit each amplifier with computer-batched tubes for optimum performance. The bias adjustment pots and measuring points are conveniently located behind the oval front panel insert.

To avoid a heavy power drain when the cold amplifier is first switched on, we conceived a Soft-Start mode which also functions as an Ever-Warm position allowing the amplifiers to be always warmed up for pleasurable listening. Each amplifier only consumes 30 watts of power in Ever-Warm mode. A blinking green LED reminds the user that the amplifier is in warm-up mode because as all the power supplies are at half-voltage, the amplifier will still operate at half power when the Ever-Warm mode is engaged, so the user should use the MUTE switch when in this mode.

The front-panel mute switch and angled-back chassis make it easier to hook up the interconnects, speaker cables, and IEC power cord.

In our own in-house magnetics department, our R&D team completely redesigned all of our output transformers in 1998 with the goal to reclaim that luscious rich mid-range of our vintage designs. In 2013 we reworked the output transformer to operate the output stage in Ultra-Linear mode which is a great sounding balance between the detail of triode and the brawn of Tetrode. We also specifically set out to achieve a deeper bottom register at higher power with lower distortion. Hours and hours of listening tests, measurements, and fine-tuning brought an exciting and stunning result to our ears. We hope you will agree.

Each Gingko Audio product is made to order

The patent-pending Cloud is a simple yet effective vibration control platform. Its elegant design belies its functional effectiveness. It works well because of the correct choice of material coupled with a flexible design that allows the user to
experiment with a wide variety of applications. In the end you the audiophile make the ultimate judgment of how to best meet your needs, functionally and aesthetically.

How vibration negatively affects good sound is a well-known and accepted phenomenon on which we need not elaborate. There are many available products
aiming at reducing vibration affecting audio equipment. Most of them seek to isolate
the equipment from unwanted vibration in the environment, transferred through the surface on which the equipment sits, be it the wooden floor or the metal rack. At the same time, vibration caused by the equipment itself such as the CD transport
mechanism or the turntable platter needs to be dissipated so it does not affect other equipment on the rack.

We find that acrylic does an excellent job in dissipating any vibrating energy it receives because of its complex, dense, and irregular molecular structure. It is not an accident that many audio products use acrylic in their designs, whether an acrylic turntable platter or an acrylic chassis for CD players or transports. In addition to the
acrylic platform, the Cloud ™ also uses rubber balls to further isolate vibration from the environment from the equipment. The rubber balls serve two critical functions.

They provide four degrees of freedom in the movement of the top platform relative
to the bottom base. The top platform sitting on top of the rubber balls can freely
move up and down, front to back, and side to side, and rotationally while minimizing
undulating, repeating motion that continues after the original vibration. They work
as very effective shock absorbers. The rubber balls are also used to balance the uneven load of some equipment such as amplifiers or turntables. By placing the rubber balls in the different positions in the base, the user can level the equipment
and even the load. The standard balls that come with our platform are found to provide the most neutral sound. You may experiment with different kinds of balls to find ones to match your system and to suit your taste in music.

AmpsandSound Products Are Handmade In Small Batches and Go Through Extensive Quality Control

The Casablanca's are aptly named for their classic good looks and commanding performance. They came about in response to repeated requests for a single-ended amp with the power to drive non-compliant or inefficient speakers. Given that large power SE amps are either run in pentode or using exotic power tubes, Ampsandsound opted for a push-pull based amp; a larger version of the Stereo 15.

The Casablanca's provide 60 watts with KT88/6550 power tubes, and 45 watts with EL-34s. Based on the Eico circuit and using a 12AX7/6SN7 front end allows access to a vast array of NOS/NIB tubes. The Casablanca's come with 8ohm and 4ohm taps and can be ordered with 16ohm taps if desired. To provide reliable power and a sweet sound, they turned to their design partners and carefully evaluated 2 new takes based on similar designs; the Eico HF97 and the Dynaco MKIII. They built both and did a shootout with the reigning king of push-pull amps, the McIntosh MC275.

The results were startling. The Eico based circuit was a clear improvement over their take on the MKIII, and was on par with the MC275. The Casablanca's provided extremely articulate bass, with truly remarkable mid and high frequency extension. The bottom line - this amp provides the warmth and detail that is expected from reference level push-pull amps, and nearly limitless personalization with different tube combinations. The tubes included with purchase are new Tungsol 12AX7, Tungsol 6SN7, and Tungsol 6550s.

They were recently asked what differentiates Ampsandsound Casablancas from any of the other well-made gear in the $2000-$3000 range. The answer is that there may be few differences, but the differences that do exist are pivotal to their approach to the reproduction of music. First off, many tube amplifiers in the Casablanca's price range have lower power. Other similar-price amplifiers are stereo amps, not providing the performance and channel separation for which mono-blocks are known.

They chose the Casablanca design to allow for the largest practical power supply. Also, mono-blocks require 40% more parts, and like all Ampsandsound components, the Casablancas utilize modern materials to bring a higher level of performance. This includes using 1-2% resistors instead of the less costly and more common 10% variety, and coupling capacitors with 5% tolerance instead of 20%. Point-to-point wiring would allow for streamlined building, but their PCB's provide superior grounding and noise isolation, with the result that they have realized and improved upon the sonic characteristics of the great amplifiers of the 50's and 60's.

A magazine reviewer once wrote the following about the Manley 250's: In triode mode a pair of Manleys produces a remarkably three dimensional soundfield that is both convincing and seductive. When switched into tetrode mode, the Manleys have the brawn to deliver a full symphony orchestra directly into your living room. When I listened through the same cut through the triode mode tube amps, I cried. Yup, tears ran down my cheeks while I bounced up and down, waving my arms, physically buffeted by the raw emotion of the music. Emotion- that essential component at the very core of great music. The Manleys pass through that emotional information, but the (solid-state amps) don't.

    Destroyer: Resurrected

Ranked 496/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

This album has received recognition many years later.

In 1989, Kerrang! magazine listed the album at #36 among the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time.

In 2006, it was placed at #60 on Guitar World magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Albums of All Time.

The album was also featured in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

This is KISS's 1976 multi-platinum, landmark album Destroyer: Resurrected, newly remixed from the original master tapes by the album's original producer, Bob Ezrin. Ezrin pulled the tapes from the vaults and painstakingly remixed the entire album, enhancing the sound and bringing out its rich texture and vibrancy, while keeping the integrity of the original recording intact. Destroyer: Resurrected will also include rare and unreleased recordings rediscovered during the remixing process, plus the originally intended cover artwork.

Hot on the heels of their breakthrough hit album Alive!, KISS released their fourth studio album Destroyer which is considered the most ambitious studio recording of KISS's '70s catalog. Bob Ezrin, who had previously worked with Alice Cooper, was brought in to produce the album and among the production flourishes Ezrin introduced to KISS were sound effects, strings, a children's choir, reversed drumming and the eerie, echoing sounds of screaming children over Gene Simmons' vocals on "God of Thunder." Upon its release, Destroyer reached the No. 11 position on the Billboard Top 200 and, with the help of the surprise top-10 hit "Beth," was their first album to go platinum.

Originally released as the B-side to the single "Detroit Rock City," "Beth,"-the heart-yearning ballad co-written and performed by drummer Peter Criss-was quickly picked up by radio nationwide and became the first top 10 for KISS, climbing all the way to the No. 7 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. While going through the original tapes, a forgotten vocal piece that was originally edited out in the final mix of "Beth" was discovered and now, for the first time, the complete original vocal recording has been restored and is included in the final mix. Other rediscovered gems include a complete, alternate guitar solo for the track "Sweet Pain," now heard for the first time since it was originally recorded. The newly remixed "Sweet Pain" with the original guitar solo will be included as a bonus track. In addition to the treasures found buried in the hours of recordings, KISS classics such as "Detroit Rock City," "Shout It Out Loud," "Do You Love Me?" and "God of Thunder" were painstakingly remixed by Ezrin as he fleshed out the drums and guitars, bringing out the bottom end to the bass, making his mixes tight and tough.

In addition, Destroyer: Resurrected will now be issued with the originally intended cover art thought too controversial for the time. Created by artist Ken Kelly, the "brown" cover depicts KISS dressed in their ALIVE! costumes and standing on rubble in front of a burning city in ruins. At the time, the record company thought it was too violent and settled for the tamer "blue" version known today. This release also marked the first time that a comic-book illustration of the band appeared on the cover, confirming that the band was transforming from hard rockers to superheroes.

    Saosin

Saosin is the debut album by post-hardcore band Saosin. Includes a matte finish with spot UV gatefold jacket and full color inner sleeve.

The long wait is over. California's Saosin issued their debut EP Translating the Name in 2003. They already had a well-developed fan base for their unique, even enigmatic brand of post-hardcore screamo. The band, having undergone some personnel changes -- most notably singer Anthony Green's departure in 2004 and the enlisting of Cove Reber as his replacement -- also underwent a sonic change on their self-titled 2005 EP. That primer was a guidebook to the band's new sound. Their Capitol debut, produced by Howard Benson, who also plays keyboards and does minimal programming, is a much slicker and far more imaginative outing than the band's underground fans may appreciate. That's not to say it's not impressive. It is. Quite so. This quintet are fine songwriters, excellent musicians, and have actually taken their post-underground hardcore beginnings and turned them into something that may indeed further rock music itself. This is not an idle claim. The songs on this album are tight, finished, and full of unexpected twists and turns, varied dynamics, fine lyrics, and, most of all, they're surprising. The hard twin-guitar sound at the front drives a rhythm section that is always in the pocket. Justin Shekoski and Beau Burchell work symbiotically with one another. They twin riffs and single lines without ever devolving into guitar heroics. They play as a unit. Reber's beautiful high-pitched voice walks the line but never resorts to screaming, because he doesn't have to: his instrument is powerful enough to ride the top of the musical swirl. The rhythm section carries the cradle of all this innovation, never slipping or abandoning these songs to mere workmanship. Check the killer counterpoint leads on Follow and Feel, and how drummer Alex Rodriguez takes the beat to the band inside the tune. When Reber enters with Don't let them know you're watching their situation crumble... his lyric is one of dislocation and the futile attempt to understand distance and dissolution. The killer, all-out rock riff in It's So Simple is beguiling as the song's dynamics and pace change three times inside of four minutes. That's the other beauty of this record; all but one track are under four minutes. The album flows from top to bottom; songs bleed into one another yet keep their distinctive identities. It's a strange comparison, but Saosin are as unique in their way as U2 were in their right from the beginning. Though they are seasoned road warriors, it's no mean achievement that a debut album carrying so much weight seemingly so effortlessly, is so utterly sophisticated and complete . Sure, Capitol will try to make them the next big thing, and maybe they should -- when's the last time you heard anything really new in rock music? Bury Your Head is the only track here that is a carry-over from Saosin's EP. Its woven textures, explosive singing, knotty basslines, and call and response vocals are chilling and utterly effective. Saosin walk that line between metal, indie rock, post-hardcore, and many other things. But that tautness is what gives their songs such power and ruddy grace. The album may garner the charges of sell-out from the underground, but musicians grow. In a relatively short time, Saosin has evolved into a smart, utterly talented and perhaps even visionary unit that is rewriting the book in the 21st century. They have delivered a debut album that is mature, truly original, that can garner the attention of those kids -- and hopefully, older adults who still care about rock -- from almost any side of the rock & roll spectrum. - Allmusic.com

    Handcrafted in the USA

We debuted to the world a killer frikkin' cool phono stage at CES 2001. It was called, aquatic naming theme continuing, The Steelhead®, as it is an upstream device and has a very clever MC variable load auto tranny that we designed and our very own Manley Magnetics department executed (which makes the MC stage so very clever). Iron=transformer=steel makes sense to me...

It has two Moving Coil inputs with selectable impedance load 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400 Ohms via Mr. Clever Steelhead transformer/autoformer. It also has variable and selectable Moving Magnet input impedances too 25, 50, 100, 200 Ohms and 47 kOhms. Very nifty is the selectable-dial-able-in-able-from-the-faceplate-able capacitive loading for all three of the MM & MC inputs 0 to 1100 picofarads in 10 picofarad steps. Very cool! Equalize baby! TEN picofard steps! Wow! Now you can really dial this in for perfect cartridge matching with ZERO penalty. None of this switching detracts from the sound quality or adds any extra anything to the signal path. Rest assured.

It's got six tubes. 2 x 6922 plus 4 x 7044 or 5687. It's got a big honkin' volume control. It can drive an amplifier directly if you want, if you don't do digital. Hey and if you happen to have three turntables set up, we give you 2 x MC and 1 x MM selectable inputs! It's got variable and fixed volume outputs. And All-tube really low Z tube buffered outputs. Like inherently 20 Ohms plus the little 47 Ohm OK drive those high capacitance audiophile cables why doncha resistor, so it's real output impedance is only 67 Ohms. No wanky cathode follower (oh bor-ing) output here like the other guys. We got your real low impedance all-tube outputs right here! It will drive anything and everything. Long cables, no problem.

It's got selectable gain 50, 55, 60, 65dB on a switch that even auto-mutes as you change it so no nasty bangs. Gain switch markings are referred to from the input of the 1st active electronics at 1 kHz to the fixed output @ 10k load, regardless of whether source is MM or XFMR stepped-up MC. It is not really practical to include MC step-up gain on the front panel markings due to the variable SOURCE impedances of the MC cartridges and the variable LOADING that the input XFMR will have on any given cartridge. All of this total MC gain variability should be confined to about 3 to 12 dB of range though. XFMR step-up gain plateaus as the load Z on a given MC cartridge is optimised...producing no VOLTAGE gain but in fact a bit more POWER gain... All this means you should set a load Z which sounds best with your particular MC cartridge and adjust gain to suit your system's operating level. Whatever you like. You will not blow anything up.

(Bottom line: there is plenty of gain... enough to do justice to your fave lo-output MC cartridges).

It's got a mute switch. It's got a just turn it down while I cue up so I don't throw my woofer cones across the room but I still want the same volume I was listening at before I flipped the side DIM switch. And what goes with DIM better than SUM which would be the MONO button... It has a killer hyper-regulated outboard power supply that plugs in on the huge-est connector you ever saw. And you can just hit the standby button to keep everybody off while you take a small holiday to Tahiti. A backlit MANLEY STEELHEAD illuminated badge reflects back to vinyl-days-of-yore while the millions of BLUE LEDs remind you that this is modern tube engineering design, baby!

The VARIABLE Outputs are controlled by the precision film dual NOBLE® volume control. They are SMOOTH action these days as the fashion went against the detented ones.

    This is a tweak-o-holic tube-lover's dream...

Free State Serenade (Out of Stock)

" Mead Is The Quentin Tarantino Of Rockabilly..." - Great Falls Tribune

A wild ride of hillbilly blues and honky-tonk, Chuck Mead (best known for his work as front man for BR549) wrote his new album based on the stories and legends, crimes and the lonesome open road of his childhood and formative years in Kansas. He recorded it with his longtime band, the Grassy Knoll Boys.

'Free State Serenade' jumps from jaunty mountain airs like "Neosho Valley Sue," where BR5-49's Don Herron lends his fiddle to what Mead calls a "coming of age ditty" to "Sittin' On Top Of The Bottom" a whip-smart ode to "Sittin' On Top Of The World." "The Devil By Their Side" is a dark, chugging rock n' roll number about William Quantrill's murderous 1863 Civil War raid of Lawrence, Kansas.

Mead co-founded three-time GRAMMY nominated alternative country band, BR5-49, who have released seven full-length LPs and won a Country Music Association Award since the early 1990's. He also acts as Music Director for the hit Broadway show, Million Dollar Quartet, currently touring throughout North America to rave reviews. Mead has released two solo albums, "Journeyman's Wager," and "Back At The Quonset Hut," with his band, The Grassy Knoll Boys. 'Free State Serenade' was co-produced with Joe Pisapia (kd Lang, Ben Folds Five) and features BR5-49's Don Herron and Old Crow Medicine Show's Critter Fuqua.
