    L.A. Woman

Ranked 362/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Released shortly before Jim Morrison's death in Paris, 1971's L.A. Woman was the first Doors album too not feature production from long time collaborater Paul Rothchild. The rawer, more live feel marks a return to the blues roots from which the band originally emerged and it delivered the signature songs Love Her Madly, Riders On The Storm and the title track.

    L.A. Woman: The Workshop Sessions

L.A. Woman: The Workshop Sessions features eight never-before-heard versions of songs from the Doors' 1971 album and a never-before-heard song, She Smells So Nice, which captures the band joyfully barreling through a full-throttle original before segueing into the blues standard Rock Me. As the song closes, Jim Morrison can be heard chanting, Mr. Mojo Risin, an anagram of his name that was made famous during the bridge of L.A. Woman. The track was recently discovered by producer Bruce Botnick while reviewing the L.A. Woman session tapes.

Alternate takes of The Changeling, Love Her Madly, Cars Hiss By My Window, L.A. Woman, The Wasp (Texas Radio and the Big Beat), Been Down So Long and Riders On The Storm offer a fresh view on this landmark release, which was the group's last album and sixth straight Top 10.

The studio chatter between songs is a revelation, transporting listeners to The Doors' West Hollywood rehearsal space where they recorded the album with Botnick. One segment in particular captures a fascinating moment of inspiration when Morrison suggests they add the now iconic thunderstorm sound effects to the beginning of Riders On The Storm.

This 180g 2LP edition of LA Woman: The Workshop Sessions is presented on three sides of vinyl, with the fourth side featuring a laser etching of the original Electric Woman art included with the album's original 1971 release.

    Other Voices

After The Doors finished recording L.A. Woman in 1971, Morrison moved to Paris, France. In the meantime, the three other members stayed behind in Los Angeles where they worked on music for what would be The Doors' seventh studio album. When the legendary singer passed away on July 3, 1971, the trio agreed to continue on, using those songs as the basis for OTHER VOICES, with Krieger and Manzarek now sharing vocal duties. Released in 1971, the album featured the two singles Tightrope Ride and Ships w/ Sails.

Although most of the material for their 1967 sophomore album was written around the same time as their debut which was released earlier in the same year, the songs on the genre-bending Strange Days still manage to possess their own distinct and foreboding character. The Doors self-titled 1967 release famously contains some incorrect speed and pitch issues. While there have been "corrected" versions made, in the interests of being historically accurate, this Analogue Productions reissue was cut without speed or pitch correction.

Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings are proud to release these six studio LP titles - The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun, Soft Parade, Morrison Hotel and L.A. Woman - on 200-gram vinyl, pressed at 45 rpm. Also, all six titles are available on Multichannel SACD! All were cut from the original analog masters by Doug Sax, with the exception of The Doors, which was made from the best tape copy.

A truly authentic reissue project, the masters were recorded on tube equipment, and the tape machine used for the transfer of these releases is a tube machine, as is the cutting system. Tubes baby!

Analogue Productions and Acoustic Sounds bring you The Doors - the band's six Morrison-era albums, all 45 RPM double LPs, in a box set. Limited to 2,500 numbered copies each on 200-gram vinyl.

As aptly put by rock 'n' roll journalist extraordinaire Ben Fong-Torres, there's never been a reissue of The Doors recordings that sounded quite like these gems from Analogue Productions. And now, you can 'break on through' with all six Doors' studio albums in a deluxe box set - on 200g 45 RPM LP!

Analogue Productions, taking the original master analog sources, has cut every track from every studio album at 45 RPM, resulting in extended high frequencies, lower noise and, as Fong-Torres notes: "Bottom line, a chronicle of The Doors in the studio, captured with the highest sonic quality possible. - They deserve no less."

All of The Doors' legendary albums - The untoppable self-titled 1967 debut The Doors, one of rock's most important debuts, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun, The Soft Parade, Morrison Hotel, and the visceral L.A. Woman - have been remastered by Doug Sax and The Doors' original engineer Bruce Botnick, and the LPs pressed on 200-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings (fast gaining popular consensus as the best pressing plant in the world).

But this special Doors' reissue features more than just spectacular sonics. We've included a 12-inch specially illustrated booklet with 19 photographs and a 2,700-word essay about the band from Ben Fong-Torres. Fong-Torres, a former editor for Rolling Stone, got the last interview with lead singer Jim Morrison before Morrison's departure in Paris in the spring of 1971, never to return.

Portions of that last interview with "lead lizard" Morrison also appear in the included booklet.

Fong-Torres helped compile one of the most definitive written histories of the band - "The Doors by The Doors." In that book, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) calls The Doors, "the most underrated musical powerhouse in rock history. And unlike some that fade away into the abyss, The Doors will always relate to the youth of any era."

Girl you gotta love your man. And audiophiles, you'll love The Doors box set from Analogue Productions. The memory of Morrison and Co. on you depends; their legacy will never end. Get this box set today before they're gone; into your house The Doors will storm ... Yeah!
