    London Calling

Ranked 8/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Recorded in 1979 in London, which was then wrenched by surging unemployment and drug addiction, and released in America in January 1980, the dawn of an uncertain decade, London Calling is 19 songs of apocalypse, fueled by an unbending faith in rock & roll to beat back the darkness. Produced with no-surrender energy by legendary Seventies studio madman Guy Stevens, the Clash's third album skids from bleak punk (London Calling) to rampaging ska (Wrong 'Em Boyo) and disco resignation (Lost in the Supermarket).

The album was made in dire straits too. The band was heavily in debt and openly at war with its record company. Singer-guitarists Joe Strummer and Mick Jones wrote together in Jones' grandmother's flat. Joe, once he learned how to type, would bang the lyrics out, Jones said. Then I'd be able to bang out some music while he was hitting the typewriter. Strummer, Jones, bassist Paul Simonon and drummer Topper Headon spent nearly three months rehearsing and demoing songs in a garage in the Pimlico section of London - with one light and filthy carpet on the walls for soundproofing, recalled Strummer in 1989. We felt that we were struggling, he said, about to slide down a slope or something, grasping with our fingernails. But Stevens was on hand for inspiration. He threw chairs around the room if he thought a track needed zapping up, according to Strummer. The album ends with Train in Vain, a rousing song of fidelity (unlisted on the back cover because it was added at the last minute) that became the sound of triumph: the Clash's first Top 30 single in the U.S. - Rolling Stone

    Remastered Audio

The Clash Hits Back features 32 of the band's iconic tracks, across a 3LP set. The tracklisting is sequenced from the band's legendary Brixton Fairdeal show in 1982 and contains the best studio recordings of the full set, plus 8 additional iconic tracks. It comes with the original setlist, handwritten by Joe Strummer which he would tape to the back of his Telecaster before each gig.

Every show was different. Joe would spend a lot of time composing the running order, considering dynamics, emotional impact and the key the songs were in. This record is based on Joe's setlist from The Casbah Club UK Tour, Brixton Fairdeal, 10th July 1982. Mick, Paul & Topper

UK Version Of The Self-Titled Album, Newly Remastered By The Clash From Original Source Tapes To Audiophile Quality

All Artwork Recreated From Original Release Including Replicated Fully Printed Inner Sleeves

The Clash's label didn't believe this debut would sell in the United States. By the time CBS got around to releasing a stateside version of the U.K. album, the British original had become an import hit. While the U.S. release contains outstanding tracks such as Complete Control and Clash City Rockers, it's still missing Cheat, Protex Blue, 48 Hours, and Deny. No matter which version you prefer, The Clash is a fearsome listen. Joe Strummer reviles the system at every turn, while Mick Jones wields his guitar like a switchblade. Yet even on their debut there are hints of future musical adventures. Junior Murvin's Police & Thieves is solid reggae, while White Man in Hammersmith Palais expertly interpolates the reggae groove into their punk attack.

    Combat Rock

Newly Remastered By The Clash From Original Tapes To Audiophile Quality

All Artwork Recreated From Original Release Including Replicated Fully Printed Inner Sleeves With An Exclusive Pennie Smith Photo Print

On the surface of things, Combat Rock appears to be a retreat from the sprawling stylistic explorations of London Calling and Sandinista! The pounding arena rock of Should I Stay or Should I Go makes the Clash sound like an arena rock band, and much of the album boasts a muscular, heavy sound courtesy of producer Glyn Johns. But things aren't quite that simple. Combat Rock contains heavy flirtations with rap, funk, and reggae, and it even has a cameo by poet Allen Ginsberg -- if this album is, as it has often been claimed, the Clash's sellout effort, it's a very strange way to sell out. Even with the infectious, dance-inflected new wave pop of Rock the Casbah leading the way, there aren't many overt attempts at crossover success, mainly because the group is tearing in two separate directions. Mick Jones wants the Clash to inherit the Who's righteous arena rock stance, and Joe Strummer wants to forge ahead into black music. The result is an album that is nearly as inconsistent as Sandinista!, even though its finest moments -- Should I Stay or Should I Go, Rock the Casbah, Straight to Hell -- illustrate why the Clash were able to reach a larger audience than ever before with the record.

Ranked 3/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time!

Sourced From the Original Master Tapes!

    Pressed on 180 gram vinyl

    Cut at Abbey Road Studios

Their first psychedelic masterpiece, Revolver, represents The Beatles at their most creative and cohesive form, still a tight rocking unit firing on all cylinders but with a surging freedom of self-expression. It is arguably their greatest album, in which they introduce whole new vistas of sound yet still contain them within tightly structured and performed songs.

Recorded before The Beatles' personalities began to clash and in advance of the fog brought on by drug use, Revolver encompasses practically every imaginable style and then some. Gentle harmonic pop "I Want to Tell You," stained-glass acid rock "She Said She Said," upbeat soul "Got to Get You Into My Life," Indian "Love You To," and what, at the time (and in some ways still is,) the most cutting-edge pop composition ever devised, "Tomorrow Never Knows," -- a song that single-handedly re-imagined and rewrote the rules of production.

Before the woolly politics of flower power had really taken over psychedelia, Revolver remains sharp and acerbic, its cutting quality emphasized by great electric guitar-playing from both George and John. The band looked fantastic too, in hipster suits and dark glasses. Pound for pound and song for song, Revolver is as good as it gets, a real monster.

A team consisting of some of the best producers and engineers in the recording industry were brought together and would spend 4 long years mixing and mastering with some of the most state of the art recording equipment. Treating these records much like a science experiment, engineers ran extensive tests before copying the analog master tapes over into a digital format using 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and carefully removing clicks, vocal pops and poor edits. Never altering the original songs themselves, just polishing them up a bit.

    Sandinista!

Three 180 Gram Vinyl LPs With Poster

Newly Remastered By The Clash From Original Tapes To Audiophile Quality

All Artwork Recreated From Original Release Including Exclusive Poster

Ranked 404/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Sandinista! is the fourth studio album by the punk rock band The Clash. It was released in 1980 as a triple album containing 36 tracks, with 6 songs on each side. Anticipating the "world music" trend of the 1980s, it features reggae, jazz, mock gospel, rockabilly, folk, dub, rhythm and blues, calypso, and rap.

For the first time, the band's traditional songwriting credits of Strummer/Jones were replaced by a generic credit to "The Clash",and the band cut the album royalties, in order to release the 3-LP at a low price. The title comes from the Nicaraguan left-wing guerrilla organization, the Sandinistas, and its catalogue number, 'FSLN1', refers to the acronym for Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional.

Sandinista! was voted the best album of the year in The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop critics poll, and it was ranked number 404 on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all timeThe album was recorded over most of 1980, in London, Manchester, Jamaica and New York. It was produced by the band (which essentially meant Mick Jones and Joe Strummer), recorded and mixed by Bill Price, and engineered by Jeremy "Jerry" Green (Wessex Sound Studios), J. P. Nicholson (Electric Lady Studios), Lancelot "Maxie" McKenzie (Channel One Studios), and Bill Price (Pluto + Power Station Studios). Dub versions for some of the songs and toasting was done by Mikey Dread, who had first hooked up with the band for their 1980 single "Bankrobber". With Sandinista! the band reached beyond punk and reggae into dub, rhythm and blues, calypso, gospel and other genres.

    Give 'Em Enough Rope

Newly Remastered By The Clash From Original Tapes To Audiophile Quality

All Artwork Recreated From Original Release Including Replicated Fully Printed Inner Sleeves.

Listening to The Clash's sophomore release, Give 'Em Enough Rope, 23 years after its debut is a rare moment where sound and emotional intensity hold over time. This album is as relevant as ever, given the transition and volatility of modern times.

Bolstered by some of the best rock 'n' roll riffs, melodies and lyrical observations, it's a joy to throw this old friend on the turntable, sit back, and listen to its familiar and poignant sounds.

What sets The Clash apart from other punk bands is their attention to musicianship and the honest articulation of their frustration and unrest. From the heralding anthem Safe European Home, to the finale All The Young Punks, the record balances the viperous and angst-y zeitgeist of the late 1970s with catchy tunes and toe-tapping rock.

The LP was rated 1978' Album of the Year by Rolling Stone and Time magazines. It has proven itself over time to be one of the greatest records by any band.

100% Analog AAA Mastered By Ryan K. Smith At Sterling Sound

    Pressed At RTI

Comes In An Old-Style Single Pocket Gatefold Printed by Stoughton

In 1985 Joe Strummer failed at stripping The Clash down and taking it back in time with Cut the Crap while former band mate Mick Jones leaped forward with the visionary, genre-crossing Big Audio Dynamite. BAD's debut This is Big Audio Dynamite is a multi-layered and sample-driven whirlwind of musical influences, including house and hip-hop, rap and reggae, electro-pop and more, with movie dialog and sound effects thrown in just for fun!

While the music has to be called out as experimental for its day, Jones' gift for rhythm, melody and catchy hooks makes it an eminently listenable and utterly cool affair that on each listen will have you humming and singing to yourself for days.

The influence this album and band would have on rock and rap in the following decade can't be understated. It's impossible to listen to 80s and 90s classics like The Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique or Beck's Odelay without hearing echoes of the beats and samples from This Is Big Audio Dynamite all the way back in 1985.

    All Mod Cons

Following their explosive debut and sophomore efforts, this third 1978 Jam release reveals a more subtle and introspective side to these eminent British mods. Fusing punk rock aggression with a musical sophistication perhaps only matched by the Clash, All Mod Cons is a unique transitional gem that showcases the band at the very peak of their abilities. The deft interplay between bassist Bruce Foxton and Richard Buckner sounds better than ever, and Paul Wellers guitar playing discovers new stylistic breadth. Most notable, however, is Wellers substantial growth as a songwriter. Beneath the thrashing Rickenbachers and dynamic R & B grooves, Weller emerges with a newly refined musical voice without jettisoning his trademark acid tongue. From the searing bile of Mr. Clean to the beautifully arresting ballad, English Rose. To the psychedelic nuance of In The Crowd, The Jam creates their most sonically compelling record to date.

    Live At Shea Stadium

Recorded at New Yorks Shea Stadium in 1982, Live at Shea Stadium captures The Clash at the peak of its powers and on devastating form. Bristling with energy and attitude, Live at Shea Stadium is destined to feature alongside James Brown at the Apollo, The Who at Leeds and Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison as one of the greatest live recordings of all time!

The Clash, opening for The Who on their farewell U.S. tour played two nights at the legendary Shea Stadium (12th & 13th Oct 1982). They had recently released the Combat Rock album, and the singles Rock The Casbah and Should I Stay Or Should I Go were enjoying mass audiences via MTV and radio airplay. Despite being the support act, the New York Post reported there were as many Clash fans on those nights as Who fans.

Recorded by Glyn Johns, the album features the second nights performance in its entirety and shows the band at a fascinating and pivotal point in their career. They had risen from punk agitators to arena superstars and would break up less than a year later. One of the few remaining unreleased Clash treasures, the recordings have long been sought after by fans and were unearthed by the late Joe Strummer while packing for a move. This is a legendary Clash concert. More than an album, its an event.

    Streetcore

One of the few true heroes of the punk era, former Clash frontman Joe Strummer walked it like he talked it, never losing his commitment to either his music or his ideals. Streetcore marks his third album since his '99 re-emergence, and possibly his strongest solo album to date.

This fact is all the more poignant in light of Strummer's death shortly before Streetcore's completion. He has left us a swansong of which he could be proud. His famous eclecticism is full-on; this makes the wide-ranging SANDINISTA seem like GIVE 'EM ENOUGH ROPE by comparison. A dizzying fusion of electronica, reggae, funk, hip-hop, rock, folk, blues, world music, and more, it's what he'd been working his way up to ever since his comeback. Things never spiral out of control, as his lyrics are the most focused he'd written since his Clash days--simultaneously political and playful. Streetcore closes with a cover of Bobby Charles's Grow Too Old (retitled Silver and Gold), a vow to live life to its fullest that would seem tragic in context had not its singer done exactly that all the way to the end.

    Global A Go-Go

Even when he was leading the Clash, Joe Strummer always incorporated his interest in disparate musical styles into his work. 20 years down the road, he's achieved enough distance from the Clash to express himself fully and freely, so GLOBAL A GO-GO is Strummer's most stylistically diverse offering to date. The album opens with the American folk motifs of Johnny Appleseed before moving on to the churning, funky Cool 'N' Out. The title tune combines hypnotic trip-hop keyboards, reggae guitar, and percolating percussion to celebrate the joys of international communication. Bhindi Bhagee successfully combines electronica beats with Eastern tonalities. Gamma Ray is a surreal Cuban-style slow-burner that recalls the Latin Playboys. Mondo Bongo and Shaktar Donetsk sound like excerpts from a film noir soundtrack set somewhere in Morocco. The album closes with the epic 17-minutes-plus Minstrel Boy, a folkish selection filled with atmospheric fiddle and acoustic guitar, nearly all instrumental. It continues the soundtrack-like feeling achieved by the earlier cuts, and leaves the listener flouting on a cloud of hazy Celtic mist. Throughout the album, Strummer evinces his trademark socio-political awareness in the lyrics, but he sounds much less angry than in punk's glory days. Sometimes maturity can work for you.

Rock Art & The X-Ray Style

Rock Art and the X-Ray Style is the debut album by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, released in 1999. This album featured the band in its first incarnation: Joe Strummer and Antony Genn on guitar and vocals, Martin Slattery playing keyboards and guitar, Steve Smiley Barnard on drums, Pablo Cook on other percussion instruments, and Scott Shields on bass. Richard Flack also did engineering on the album. The record marked Strummer's re-emergence from a long absence in the music scene, his last record being 1989's Earthquake Weather. The album begins with Tony Adams, a track which sounds not unlike Strummer's previous work with The Clash. Saxophone riffs are juxtaposed with reggae inspired guitar, as Strummer recites lyrics detailing a catastrophe hitting New York City. The rest of the record takes a winding journey, with songs that capture Strummer's genre mixing.

We Are... The League (200 Gram Black Vinyl)

In 1982, there were few British bands that better embodied the punk ethos than the Anti-Nowhere League. Their LP We Are...The League is perhaps the best chronicling of punk's raw energy, humor and visceral rage in an era when early punk bands had either disbanded (The Sex Pistols) or found a softer, more radio-friendly style (The Clash). The Anti-Nowhere League was part of the legendary 1981 Apocalypse Punk Tour, along with Discharge, The Exploited, Chron Gen and others.

We Are..The League is a catchy and relevant record that reflects the frustration, anger and eroding idealism of the time. Song for song, it's perhaps one of the most consistently good British punk albums ever recorded.

Now with a full time drummer (and co-writer of two tracks on the LP) Beach Fossils entered the studio in the fall of 2012 with producer Ben Greenberg of The Men. Instead of merely going from a "bedroom DIY" project to a "better fidelity studio project" the deliberate decision to work with Ben was determined to capture, if not in style, the spirit and enthusiasm of
punk and aggressive music in general. To ensure that dynamic, the drums were recorded live in a room with Dustin on bass to give the album a driving and energetic force. Consider the titles "Generational Synthetic," "Caustic Cross" and "Burn You Down," it's easy to see how the record, while not a punk or post-punk record by strict definition, certainly nods to the first major influence of Dustin's creative spark. The first two notes of the title track that kick the LP off are a clear indicator of where his head was at.

The LP also sees Dustin stretching his songwriting muscles, with the acoustic Lennon-esque "Sleep Apnea" and the dreamy "In Vertigo", which features the vocals of Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead). During the recording period, the studio was flooded and destroyed by Hurricane Sandy and the band had to relocate to another studio to finish the LP in earnest. It all came together when the work of legendary video artist Peter Campus was finalized to be featured throughout the release and on the striking cover. Clash the Truth marks a clear progression in the ongoing story of Beach Fossils. Drawing from the previous works' melodic strengths and uncanny guitar textures emboldened by a sound closer to their energetic and cathartic live set, it's the clear next step in the trajectory of the band and the dis-association from the home-recording boom from which it originated.

    Souls Of Black

Souls Of Black is the fourth studio album by American Thrash Metal band Testament. The album was released in 1990. It preceded several changes in style to rather diverse styles of Metal, including the traditional Heavy Metal sound heard in its succeeding album, The Ritual. In order to promote Souls of Black, Testament supported Megadeth, Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies in Europe on the Clash of the Titans tour.

Souls of Black is also seen as an influential guitar album, being ranked number nine on Guitar World magazine's top ten list of guitar albums of 1990.
