    New City Blues

From the cutlery in the blender indictment of surface beauty "Paper Doll" to the Lone Star drive of "Just To Be With You" and the tumbledown melody of "Sit Here and Cry," this is a high energy box cutter of emotion: 14 songs marked by the bite and punch of smart girls who know there's more to life than a cold beer and cut-offs. "I tell people there's not a lot of happy songs," the Texas/Nashville hybrid cautions. "But they're not unhappy songs, either. It's life... the way it is, and what's wrong with that?" There's a definite viscerality to New City Blues. From the yearning title track to the slow-building "Loveless Rolling Stone," the sense of displacement marking so many young people uncertain about the future tempers the pools of guitar lines, the way her voice has just the slightest ache when she finds a note's center. Picture Disc

    Limited To 1000

Deathcrush is an EP by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. It was originally released on 16 August 1987. Though influential to black metal, its lyrics and sound were largely influenced by early death metal bands. Chainsaw Gutsfuck was voted Most Gruesome Lyrics Ever by Blender in 2006. The Deathcrush EP was immediately groundbreaking, establishing new standards of brutality, the songwriting itself is still largely derivative of their influences, particularly Venom and early Bathory.

    Separation Sunday

    Pressed On White Vinyl

    Remastered From The Original Tapes

First Time Released On Vinyl In Over 10 Years

Separation Sunday is the second studio album by The Hold Steady, originally released on May 3, 2005 through Frenchkiss Records. A concept album, Separation Sunday follows the stories of Craig (the narrator), Holly (short for Halleluiah), a sometimes addict, sometimes prostitute, sometimes born again Christian/Catholic (and sometimes all three simultaneously); Charlemagne, a pimp; and Gideon, a skinhead, as they travel from city to city and party to party. (All three characters made appearances on the band's previous album, Almost Killed Me, and reappear in First Night, and Same Kooks on Boys and Girls in America, and then again in Ask Her For Adderall, a bonus track from Stay Positive.)

Separation Sunday is lyrically dense, full of Biblical allusions, intertextual and self references (e.g., in Don't Let Me Explode, when Holly is asked about Charlemagne, she just smiled all polite-like and said something vague; in Almost Killed Me's closing track, Killer Parties, the narrator instructs listeners, If they ask about Charlemagne/Be polite, say something vague), word play, and puns (Stevie Nix: She got screwed up by religion/she got screwed by soccer players). Vocalist/songwriter Craig Finn typically delivers these lyrics in a distinct flavor of sing-speak.

Musically, Separation Sunday engages Classic rock motifs -- guitar solos, riff-based structures, use of piano and organ, and guitar harmony. Structurally, however, most songs eschew the standard verse-chorus-verse song structure, frequently foregoing choruses or refrains altogether. In a review of the album, Blender described The Hold Steady as sound[ing] like the best bar band in the world.

    Eccentric Soul: Mighty Mike Lenaburg

Eccentric Soul: Mighty Mike Lenaburg chronicles Phoenix, Arizona's off- Funky Broadway scene that happened while Dyke and his Blazers were setting national charts on fire in the late '60s/early '70s. Covering Tejano psych, flute funk, both horny soul and horny kid soul, cackling R&B, deep ballads, and fist-fight doowop, Lenaburg channeled that wrong side of the desert sound to a dozen 45s for the Mighty, Darlene, Homogenized Sound, Ramco and Out of Sight imprints.

Although listing these totally obscure groups is an exercise in futility, Numero has anyway; Michael Liggins, the Super Souls, We The People, Ronnie Whitehead, Small Paul, the Soulsations, Lon Rogers, the Soul Blenders, Sheila Jack, Clarence Townes and the Newlyweds.

Five years since Numero's initial CD release, Eccentric Soul: Mighty Mike Lenaburg finally makes it back to its intended format as a deluxe double LP. This 180g Loaded To The Gills edition features 10 bonus tracks, scores of new photographs and new liner notes, all housed in a heavy gatefold jacket.

...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead (Awaiting Repress)

Labeled as anti-musicians, named after a prayer to Mayan corn gods, and cause for press releases describing it as set upon by rednecks, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead vies for that piece of scarred, post-punk real estate somewhere between the Who and chucking a whirring blender full of bolts straight into a jet engine. With this self-titled debut, the band will probably horrify the realtors.

From moments of diversionary electronic tweaks to ones of shambolic, guitar-thrashed screeches (and sometimes both), the album realizes the importance of not trying to be important. The sound of bashing out unconventional we hate something that we'll make sure to mumble punk rock without parroting any one musical thing is what -- if anything -- ties these eight songs together. And for good reason. Few bands can sound like such a rightful mess.

The band has been lumped in with fellow rock unapologists Queens of the Stone Age and At the Drive-In, but this self-titled debut album is a caustic, fidgety yelp that almost belies its out-and-out intelligence. One of the band's news stories might have said it best: The band defended themselves with their instruments, which are now destroyed.

    Songs

After the groundswell of adoration for his album debut Life After Defo and the live shows that followed, Deptford Goth returns this Autumn with Songs, his second record of intensely slow-burning gems. Where the former was more affiliated with those seamless blenders of dreamy synth-pop, R&B and soul, Songs adds elements of singer-songwriter tradition to his irresistibly yearning electronica. "It wasn't a conscious decision," says Daniel Woolhouse. "But I've become more accepting of my voice, so it's more prominent now, which led to structuring the songs in a more classic way. I also wanted people to hear the lyrics. It's a process of being more upfront and honest."

Songs' mood is still downbeat but tracks such 'Two Hearts' as 'The Lovers' would suggest he's found more happiness in his life. "Life After Defo had bits of hope hidden inside but this one's definitely more joyous," Daniel agrees. "Instead of closing down I'm opening up and feeling more at peace with myself about certain things."

Songs also bears the mark of its origins. Last year, Daniel left his south-east London flat where he recorded and Life After Defo for a place by the sea. "It's pretty peaceful here," he says. "And more space meant I could develop things a bit more."

As if to underline his singular mission, Songs' artwork echoes that of Life After Defo, being by the same artist, Jordan Kasey. "I wanted a continuation. I wanted something figurative, but that resembled a landscape too. It represents to me a connection between the physical self and it's surroundings, which is one of the album's themes." Over 11 chapters, from dark to light and various points in between, Songs is a unique landscape of the mind, body and soul, and one of 2014's most beautiful.

    Disconnect

TV Ghost's third full-length for In The Red, Disconnect is a journey to the center of dreams. The Lafayette, Indiana, band displays a newfound maturity, incorporating churning rhythms and psychedelic drone into a lush torrent of gaseous keys, sprawling guitars and eerie melody. Think Porcupine-era Echo and the Bunnymen and Tago Mago-era Can run through a Cure Pornography blender.

"TV Ghost's 2009 debut LP, Cold Fish, is a maelstrom-10 hectic songs ripped out in 25 minutes. Stuffed to the seams with wiry guitars, trembling keyboards, crashing beats, and Tim Gick's mad-man warble, it has the creepy tension of a post-punk haunted house where the Cramps, the Scientists, or Pere Ubu might leap out from the shadows at any moment. The band deftly balances precision and abandon-every moment sounds lunatic and unhinged, yet no track collapses into complete anarchy.

"That abandon has subsided a bit on Mass Dream, which doubles the length of its predecessor despite having only one more track. That's by design-Gick says that his intent was to "space things out more, let the songs breathe." And while I miss Cold Fish's farther-flung moments, the band has countered that loss with songs that are deeper and more open. Now, along with all the post-punk echoes rattling around, unexpected reference points pop up. At times I hear the enervated drama of Echo & the Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch, or the stridency of Ian Svenonius during his Nation of Ulysses days. And TV Ghost prove as adept at stark dread as they are at fevered bedlam...."

    No Shouts, No Calls

Following Rock It To The Moon (2001), Power Out (2004), and Axes (2005), there seems to be a new kind of light shining on Electrelane that remains strong throughout this record, but the willingness to push the envelope hasn't left the band either.

No Shouts No Calls is an album of enticingly irregular brilliance. Electrelane effortlessly assimilate a wide cut of moods and influences - the off kilter harmony of the Velvet Underground, the droning insistence of Krautrock heroes Can, the bratty brashness of feminist popsters Le Tigre - into a heartfelt batch of art-pop that never sounds snobby - Blender

    Classics

Classics remains resolutely instrumental, but the band has introduced a wealth of new sounds, from acoustic and slide guitar to sleigh bells and cello. Their vastly improved production and writing makes this record a refinement of their art. Ratatat lay squealing metal harmonies over choppy Neptunes-style dance thumps, then break into pastoral waves of keyboard tone, riding dub tempos and hip-hop struts. They're crotch-pumping arena pimps and introverted minimalists... - Blender. Stroud and Mast have come up with some catchy melodies over light, snappy bass lines in what sounds like something tailored for the headphones - Urb. The band has toured with Interpol, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, The Stills, and Mouse On Mars.

Banhart's fourth critically acclaimed album, released in September 2005, now available for the first time on vinyl. Cripple Crow has scanned over 30,000 units to date. The release of this double LP coincides with a host of summer tour dates. ...pure folk-flavored whimsy, reminiscent of Tim Buckley and 1970's cosmic pinup Marc Bolan - Blender. ...there's something about Banhart's muse that defies words and logic, something to these songs that hints at a deeper connection to the cosmos than most of us share. Jeff Buckley might have had that gift; John Lennon and Van Morrison certainly did. Saturday Night Sweetheart

More street-grit than surfside, Thee Tsunamis are a rock'n'roll joyride
with Tura Satana at the wheel. On their debut full-length Saturday Night
Sweetheart, the trio (Betsy on guitar, Jenna on bass, and Sharlene on
beats) blend girl-group bubblegum with feral punk, hugging every hairpen
turn of Kim Fowley's twisted, trashbucket heart along the way. With
jagged harmonies over fuzz-crusted pop hooks, theirs is the sound of
Brill Building teen-sploitation with bloodier results. From
heart-in-a-blender tales to drag-race party anthems, these 12 tracks are
as catchy as they are cutting and together they tell a story as old as time:
what the men don't know, the little girls understand. Like Thee Tsunamis'
tape A Goodbad Man Is Hard To Find (2013) and horror-concept EP
Delirium and Dark Waters (2014), Saturday Night Sweetheart (May,
2015) was recorded to tape in the basement studio of Magnetic South
and has all the signature fidelity of a subterranean rock'n'roll

    Greatest Hits (Out Of Stock)

    Pressed On 180 Gram Vinyl

    Housed In a Gatefold Sleeve

Greatest Hits is the first greatest hits album of American rock band Blink-182. It was originally released on October 31, 2005 by Geffen Records. Greatest Hits was created by Geffen shortly after the band's February 2005 breakup, termed an indefinite hiatus by the label. Tensions had risen in the group and guitarist Tom DeLonge desired to take time off. Bassist Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker argued with DeLonge regarding the band's future and their possible next album, and heated exchanges led to DeLonge's exit. In the interim, Hoppus and Barker continued playing together in +44, and DeLonge formed his new outfit Angels & Airwaves.

The compilation collects the band's most successful singles with one new song and a non-album track. The collection covers tracks from the band's debut album Cheshire Cat (1995) to their most recent studio effort to that time, Blink-182 (2003). Greatest Hits features numerous hit singles by the band, including Dammit, What's My Age Again?, All the Small Things, The Rock Show, First Date, Feeling This and I Miss You. The B-side Not Now, which was recorded during the Blink-182 sessions, makes its first appearance on this compilation and was released as its lead single; a cover of Another Girl, Another Planet by the Only Ones was sent to radio as an airplay single.

Greatest Hits peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 album chart. Critics were generally very positive regarding Greatest Hits, viewing it a suitable, reflective compilation of the band's hits. Andy Greenwald of Blender called it a flawless compilation, covering the group's transition from nudists to near-geniuses.
