Tenor Titans Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins, and Budd Johnson and joined by trumpeter Roy Eldridge, bassist Ray Brown and more! Ben Webster is at the Top of his Game! A Phenomenal Jazz Session!!!

Mastered by Bernie Grundman from the Original Analog Master Tapes! Only 2500 Numbered Limited Edition Copies Worldwide!

While it is difficult to single out just one of the musicians, it is easy to distinguish them: Ben (called The Brute) plays with a raspy, vibrating sound; Coleman (known as The Bear) is a master of flowing swing; and Budd has an earthy, resonant bluesy sound. The five numbers reflect the jam-like spontaneity of the 1959 session; an Ellington classic by the three in a masterful, inspirational new interpretation; three pieces which are intrinsically and hoc improvisations; and a classical ballad in which Ben Webster breathes warmth and sentiment into his instrument.

This critically-acclaimed and Grammy-nominated 1972 album marked the beginning of McCoy Tyner's nine-year association with the Milestone label and producer Orrin Keepnews. It is a deceptively simple record, employing four tunes from the band's regular repertoire and one solo piano piece. But Tyner seemed to have brought under control his overwhelming pianistic skills and the lessons learned during six years with John Coltrane. The results, particularly on the 23-minute development of the title tune, are lastingly impressive.

    What Was Said

What Was Said brings new colors to Tord Gustavsen's musical palette. His new project introduces the entrancing German-Afghan vocalist Simin Tander, and builds upon the subtle understanding of his long musical association with drummer Jarle Vespestad. The combination of the intimacy of her voice, Gustaven's melodically inventive piano and discreet electronics, and Vespestad's patient, textural touch, has considerable emotional persuasiveness.

The shimmering follow-up to Present Tense, 1968s pop-psych cult classic by producers Gary Usher and Curt Boettchers studio-only project Sagittarius (My World Fell Down), 1969s The Blue Marble once again finds Usher crafting still more sunshiney, Beach Boys-esque dreamscapes. As he did for Present Tense, Usher called on the cream of L.A.s studio pros as well as members of the like-minded Millennium, and the results are once again magnificent.

Layered with creamy vocal harmonies, brass, flute, and Moog synthesizer, The Blue Marble will have fans of the Millennium, the Association, the Yellow Balloon, and similarly grandiose baroque pop acts positively floating on air. Sourced from the original Together Records analog masters, these editions contain four bonus tracks on the CD and two bonus tracks on the LP.

Undertow was produced by Ross Orton and,

All-Star Musician Lineup of Red Garland, John Coltrane, Donald Byrd, George Joyner and Arthur Taylor. Originally Released in November 1957.

Some groups have existed only in the recording studio but have produced music of lasting value.

This quintet, under pianist Red Garland's leadership, actually did play some gigs around New York in the fall of 1957, but even if it hadn't, the rapport in the studio would still have been powerful. Beginning with the association of Garland and sax master John Coltrane in the Miles Davis Quintet and continuing with Arthur Taylor's trio connection with Garland, and trumpeter Donald Byrd's having worked with all of them in one form or another, there was enough of a common spirit in the musical attitudes of all the participants. The title blues spans an entire side; the overleaf is shared by Gershwin's They Can't Take That Away from Me and Dameron's Our Delight.

Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

Age Ain't Nothing but a Number is the debut studio album by American R&B recording artist Aaliyah, originally released under Jive and Blackground Records on May 24, 1994, in the United States.

After being signed by her uncle Barry Hankerson, Aaliyah was introduced to recording artist and producer R. Kelly. He became her mentor, as well as the lead songwriter and producer of the album. The duo recorded the album at the Chicago Recording Company in Chicago, Illinois. The album featured two hit singles, including the top ten charting Back & Forth and At Your Best (You Are Love); both singles were certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). One additional single followed in the US: Age Ain't Nothing but a Number. Two more singles were released internationally after Age Ain't Nothing But a Number: Down with the Clique and The Thing I Like.

Aaliyah was credited for redefining R&B by blending her voice with Kelly's new jack swing. The album peaked at number 18 on the Billboard 200 and sold over three million copies in the United States. The album was certified Gold in Canada by the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) and Gold in the United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) to date. The album has sold over six million copies worldwide.
