Complete AnimalsFirst Ever 3 LP Version Of This Animals Best-Of
This triple vinyl package includes the complete sessions that The Animals recorded with producer Mickie Most in 1964 and 1965. The 40 songs capture the band at their peak, including most of their best and biggest hits: House of the Rising Sun, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, Bring It on Home To Me, We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, I'm Crying, It's My Life and Boom Boom.
Many of these songs are covers of vintage R&B/rock tunes by Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and the like. The Animals produced some great album tracks, such as I'm Mad Again (originally by John Lee Hooker), Worried Life Blues, and Bury My Body.
After leaving Most, the group would maintain their peak for another year or so despite the departure of one of Rock's all-time finest organists, Alan Price. This compilation has everything that Price recorded with the group, including four previously unreleased cuts and the non-LP Eric Burdon original on the B-side of It's My Life, I'm Gonna Change the World.LP1

AnimalsAnimals is innovative and musically diverse. Inspired in part by George Orwell's political fable Animal Farm, Roger Waters condemns the avarice and inequalities of capitalism, metaphorically and musically grouping humans as pigs, dogs, and sheep. The pigs are self-righteous hypocrites inflicting their beliefs on everyone else, the dogs greedy money-grabbers, and the sheep witless followers. Dark, cynical, and brilliantly composed, Animals is an ingenious and under-acknowledged album. -Naomi Gesinger1. Pigs on the Wing 1

REDD-SUN-8719xEric Burdon & The Animals
Winds Of ChangeReeling from poor management decisions and inter-band strife, The Animals fell apart toward the end of 1966. Seeking a rebirth, lead vocalist Eric Burdon relocated from London to California. There, Burdon assembled a new Animals lineup, retaining only drummer Barry Jenkins from the previous incarnation. Now known as Eric Burdon and The Animals, the group immersed themselves in the psychedelic culture of San Francisco and their sound followed suit. Informed by his inaugural acid trip, Burdon led his bandmates through a fresh, decidedly lysergic interpretation of American blues. While the original group had largely performed songs written by others, The New Animals began composing as a group.
The prophetically titled Winds of Change, released in September 1967, offered ten stellar examples of this new songwriting approach, along with a heavy cover of The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black." Lead single "San Franciscan Nights" encapsulated the Summer of Love in what became a top ten hit for the new band (and helped get them on the bill for the seminal Monterey Pop Festival).1. 'Til Your River Runs DryEric Burdon has completed his most personal album to date, titled 'Til Your River Runs Dry. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the "100 Greatest Voices of All Time," Burdon has long forged new ground while maintaining a commanding presence in the music marketplace as front man of The Animals, with War at its inception and simply as Eric Burdon. In 2012, Eric's influence is enjoying resurgence with both new artists and superstars.
The album was produced by Burdon and Tony Braunagel and recorded in New Orleans in 2010 and 2011 in California at Playback Studios in Santa Barbara and at Ultratone Recording in Studio City where Eric recorded his last two albums, My Secret Life and Soul of a Man. The new album was mixed by Ed Cherney and mastered by Doug Sax and Eric Boulanger at The Mastering Lab in Ojai, California.
Eric discusses the album: When I started out with the Animals I never dreamed that I would grow old, much less be singing on stage at the age of 70," said Eric. "There I was, in my twenties, singing "When I was Young," as if I was already an old man. Now, I can look back at a life with many ups and downs, and thankfully, I can reflect on where I am and where I've been. I'm privileged to be able to look back at the many paths and highways that I've traveled. At this point in my life, I'm very comfortable in this place where I am."1. Water

Centipede HzCentipede Hz was co-produced by Animal Collective and Ben H. Allen III and recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo TX (outside of El Paso) by Ben H. Allen III and mixed at Maze Studios in Atlanta, GA by Ben H. Allen III.
Centipede Hz is the tenth full length Animal Collective album following the widely celebrated Merriweather Post Pavilion (2009) and also the first since Strawberry Jam (2007) to feature all four original band members: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist and Deakin. As the album's opening bars of drum crashes and radio interference on "Moonjock" immediately make clear, having returned as a four piece, Animal Collective have made their most widescreen and fully realized music to date.
Once touring for Merriweather Post Pavilion was concluded at the end of 2009, Animal Collective released their visual album Oddsac on DVD. The film was also screened internationally at theaters and film festivals. The band created Transverse Temporal Gyrus, an installation for the Guggenheim Museum in New York City and subsequently released a 12" single of the performance and launched a website to distribute music from the event. The period between Merriweather Post Pavilion and Centipede Hz also saw the release of two solo albums: Avey Tare's Down There (2010) and Panda Bear's Tomboy (2011).
Regrouping as a four piece with original member Deakin once more in the band, Animal Collective reconvened in their native Baltimore in January-March of 2011 to write material for Centipede Hz with a further session later in the year. Rather than swapping ideas over the internet and file-sharing Animal Collective were, for the first time in many years, exchanging ideas in the same room by playing live instruments.
As a result Panda Bear returned to playing a sit-down drum kit for the first time since Here Comes The Indian (2003) and Geologist began playing live keyboards again. Along with using some of the samplers and sequencers with which they had previously been writing, the sound of Centipede Hz draws on the dynamics and energy of Animal Collective playing together as a band. The return of Deakin is at its most marked in "Wide Eyed," a song that he wrote, featuring his first ever lead-vocal performance and whose title captures the mood of Centipede Hz perfectly.
Part of the inspiration for Centipede Hz included the band's memories of growing up listening to station announcements and commercials on the radio and imagining the after life of radio signals from the past, forgotten transmissions that are now lost in space and broadcasting music from other planets for other life forms. This is reflected in the sound of Centipede Hz, which features the white noise of radio interference and buried frequencies overlaid with the band's peerless melodic sensibilities and compositional methods. The result is a panoramic set of songs that shimmer with the confidence and wonder of Animal Collective's unique inner logic and the luminous warmth of their sound world.
Animal Collective: Avey Tare (vocals, synthesizers, piano, guitar, sampler, sequencer, percussion); Panda Bear (vocals, drums, sampler, percussion); Deakin (vocals, baritone guitar, sampler, percussion); Geologist (sampler, synthesizers, piano, percussion) with: Dave Scher (Beachwood Sparks, All Night Radio) lap steel guitar on "Today's Supernatural," "New Town Burnout," "Pulleys," and "Gotham," and melodica on "Rosie Oh" and Riverside Middle School Choir, which sings on "Father Time" and "New Town Burnout."1. AnCo's 11th album overall, Painting With follows 2012's Centipede Hz. While that album saw band member Deakin rejoin the lineup after skipping out on 2009's Merriweather Post Pavilion, he's once again absent on Painting With. In place of Deakin, Avery Tare, Panda Bear, and Geologist were joined by the likes of John Cale and Colin Stetson.
The trio started working on the album earlier this year with the goal of creating "really short songs: no B.S, get in, get out material " according to Avey Tare. The result is 12 tracks concerned with and inspired by "art (Cubism, Dadaism, and the distorted way those artists viewed the world) and the human experience, and the meeting of both."

The Twain Shall MeetMastered From The Original MGM Records Reels
Burdon and the group returned in April 1968 with The Twain Shall Meet, continuing their psychedelic journey. "Monterey" chronicled the previous summer's seminal festival while "Sky Pilot" reflected the growing anti-war sentiment as the Vietnam Conflict escalated. Steeped in a dense, layered sound full of electric guitars, sitars, strings, brass and washes of phased vocals, the album served notice that Burdon and company were totally in-step with America's youth movement. From blues revivalists to cultural torchbearers in four short years? Believe it!

Electric Comic BookThe Blues Magoos launched their recording career with the LP Psychedelic Lollipop. The equally impressive Electric Comic Book refines the band's mix of rock 'n' roll and day-glo psychedelia. That punchy yet playful approach animates such distinctive numbers as Pipe Dream, Rush Hour, There's a Chance We Can Make It and Albert Common Is Dead.
This '60s garage-psych nugget is now available from Sundazed on High Definition Vinyl, sourced from the original Mercury-label stereo masters, with the colorful original cover art meticulously reproduced.
In their '60s heyday, the Blues Magoos were one of the first garage-punk bands to achieve mainstream success, and one of the first to embrace psychedelia. Early in their existence, the Bronx-bred quintet's high-energy live sets made them a popular attraction on the Greenwich Village club scene. Once they began making records, they quickly emerged as one of one of the earliest and most inventive exponents of the psychedelic sound. The band's 1966 debut album Psychedelic Lollipop and its 1967 followup Electric Comic Book, are two of that period's most beloved and enduring albums.1. Pipe Dream

Animals In The Median
Salmon Colored Vinyl
Voted Portland's 2012 Best New Band by Willamette Week
One of NPR's Artists you should've known in 2012
There is a stillness between kissing lips that belies the beating hearts connected to them,
a calm in the simple gesture that holds tumultuous emotions close, keeping their caprice
from pulling you apart. For the past three years, Radiation City has scored the soundtrack
to relationships such as these. Moments where Quiet/Bombast, Future/Past,
Man/Woman, Hope/Fear are conjoined; from their use of modern electronic sounds and
the restraint of classic bossa records, to the urgency and harmony of northern soul, the
band has codified seemingly disparate ideas into a sound and ethos that is at once
refreshing and classic. Their second LP Animals In The Median will be released May 7th.
Founded in 2009 amid the glow of one budding love affair, Radiation City quickly
blossomed into a family, finding itself with a second couple and another multi
instrumentalist besides. If the quintet's early live shows and debut LP The Hands That
Take You quickly earned them a reputation as one of Portland, Oregon's most promising
young acts, the subsequent national tours and 2011's EP Cool Nightmare made good on
that promise. The band's expanding soundscape of new romanticism has drawn
accolades from NPR, Time, and KEXP to name a few.
The new full length features 12 songs recorded over the span of a year in both rural
Washington and urban Portland. You can hear a focused songwriting, lush arrangements,
and gorgeous harmonies. You can hear the celebration and lament of a sea change year
which saw the passing of matriarchs, the betrayals and betrothals of loved ones, the
baring and bruising of hopeful hearts in an increasingly dangerous world. Moreover, you
can hear a band edified, coming into their own in rich and simple gesture.1. Zombies

Henderson - Prokofiev: Peter And The Wolf / Saint-Saens: Carnival of the Animals (Speakers Corner)
For those who enjoy a pun, Saint-Saëns's Carnival of the Animals and Prokofiev's symphonic tale for children Peter and the Wolf might well be described as "beastly". And this recording makes no exception for it is, indeed, quite spectacular! Both works are introduced by the roaring and screaming of the inhabitants of London Zoo. The individual orchestral instruments are introduced during the course of the music and are commented upon by a human voice in a narrative.
The characters and animals are each given a characteristic theme which is presented by a particular instrument or register. While Prokofiev wrote his composition with a pedagogic purpose in mind, Saint-Saëns's main aim was to create a piece of musical fun. The mischievous work not only offers a lively depiction of various animals and even hollow-sounding fossils (by means of the xylophone), but also contains numerous tongue-in-cheek references to works by great composers.
These two musical masterpieces combine humour with education in a thoroughly fascinating and enchanting manner and are equally loved by children and adults alike. The interpretation and sound of this DECCA LP certainly earns first prize for being "beastly"!

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.$34.99180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed Buy Now

The Invention Of Animals (Awaiting Repress)
A Collection Of Out-of-print And Unreleased Live Recordings
Limited Edition 180 Gram Vinyl
The John Lurie National Orchestra featuring John Lurie, Billy Martin and G. Calvin Weston
Billy Martin's Amulet Records have announced the release of The Invention of Animals by The John Lurie National Orchestra. The archival compilation assembles seven previously unreleased live and out-of-print studio recordings by the acclaimed musician, actor and visual artist John Lurie leading his early 1990s' trio with percussionists Billy Martin and G. Calvin Weston.
The three of us got together to try and write stuff for my band The Lounge Lizards, but what happened between the three of us was magical. After about a year of playing live it really came together, says John Lurie. There is something so unique and beautiful about this music. I don't think there is anything else like it.
Billy Martin adds: John and I share the idea that this is like someone discovered a field recording of a lost civilization. Some strange and beautiful tribe unlike any other known to man.
The Invention of Animals opens with Flutter, one of four National Orchestra performances culled from the soundtrack of John Lurie's 1991 television series, Fishing With John. Also drawn from that same soundtrack are The Beast, Little and Ignore The Giant. The additional studio recording included here is the title track to the only official John Lurie National Orchestra album Men With Sticks released in 1993. Rounding out the collection are two previously unreleased live recordings. I Came To Visit Here For Awhile was preserved at the Threadwaxing Space in New York City on May 7, 1993. The album's centerpiece and title track, The Invention of Animals, running at 19-minutes-plus, was captured by highly regarded sound engineer Claudia Engelhart from a performance on February 12, 1994 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
John Lurie first became known for his work in the late '70s leading the band The Lounge Lizards, which went on to make music for 20 years. During this time, Lurie recorded 22 albums and composed scores for over 20 movies, including Stranger than Paradise, Down by Law, Mystery Train, Clay Pigeons, Animal Factory and Get Shorty, which earned him a Grammy nomination. Lurie also starred in three films directed by Jim Jarmusch, as well as a host of other films. He wrote, directed and starred in the aforementioned cult classic Fishing with John, a series that is now part of The Criterion Collection. Lurie is also responsible for the incredible music of Marvin Pontiac. Lurie emerged onto the art scene in the spring of 2004, when he had his first painting exhibition at Anton Kern Gallery. Since then Lurie's work has been exhibited in esteemed galleries throughout the world. His solo museum exhibits include P.S.1. Contemporary Arts Center in New York, Musee Des Beaux-Arts De Montreal, the Musee d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean in Luxembourg and the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, who gave their entire museum over to the presentation of Lurie's work. Both the Wadsorth Athenaeum in Connecticut and The Museum of Modern Art in New York have acquired his work for their permanent collections.

Wild AnimalsWild Animals, the highly anticipated album from critically acclaimed Trampled by Turtles,
produced by the lead singer-songwriter of Low, Alan Sparhawk, and recorded in the legendary Pachyderm Studio in Cannon Falls, MN (Nirvana, Andrew Bird, The Jayhawks).
Of the new music Dave Simonett (guitar, vocals) notes, "We all tried to come into this
thing extremely open-minded. How can we sound new to ourselves? I feel like the sound
has changed and is changing, especially from Palomino to now. A lot of our reputation
from even just a couple years ago was that we were this fast band, which we can do,
and we do that. But this record focused a little bit more on other aspects of our playing
together."1. Wild Animals
