Sun Structures'Sun Structures' is the eagerly anticipated debut album from Temples, featuring the singles 'Shelter Song', 'Colours To Life', 'Keep In The Dark' and 'Mesmerise'.
Temples release their cracking debut album 'Sun Structures' - It's immaculately-crafted pyschedelic pop album that would sit perfectly next to The Byrds, T Rex and Tame Impala. It's full of psych drenched guitars, the odd burst of the 60s sounding organ, energetic drums and a collection of bass lines that most bands would kill for. Bursting with ideas, each track marries a stunning chorus with singer James Bagshaw's velveteen vocal, a slew of harmonies and kaleidoscopic melodies.1. Shelter Song

VolcanoJames Bagshaw (vocals, guitar), Tom Warmsley (bass, backing vocals), Sam Toms (drums) and Adam Smith (keys) - are set to release their new album, Volcano, via Fat Possum.
All the elements people loved with Temples' debut, Sun Structures, remain intact, but this time, there is a noticeable evolution presented from the outset. It's clear Volcano is the sound of Temples squaring up to their potential, immediately evident with "Certainty." Its beefed-up beats reveal an expanded sonic firmament, one in which bright synth hooks and insistent choruses circle around each other over chord sequences that strike just the right balance between nice and queasy. "If there's a sense of scale," says frontman James Bagshaw, "It was really just a result of implementing a load of things that we didn't know about the first time around. We didn't even have a subwoofer to listen back to things that we did on Sun Structures, so there was nothing below 50Hz on that record. We didn't even know those frequencies were there!"
Entirely self-produced and written by all four members of the band, Temples' melodies seem to come effortlessly. There are sun-dazed numbers and lysergic dream-pop songs and those where synth and mellotron interweave to beguiling effect. One thing is certain; it's harder to spot the influences this time around. Mystical language has been supplanted by something more direct. They've been broken down and blended together - fossilized into a single source of creative fuel, resulting in a sound that is undoubtedly Temples. As described by co-founding member Warmsley, "we discovered a lot as we went along, and the excitement at having done so radiates outwards."1. Certainty

Temples of BoomWith this album Cypress Hill turned towards a more tranquil, sedate, slower, spooky sound with beats. The dark mood of this album reflects the strife within the band during this era, when member Sen Dog temporarily left the band to pursue other projects.
On this album both Wu-Tang Clan members RZA and U-God make appearances on Killa Hill Niggas. Also notable was track No Rest For The Wicked which ignited the feud between Cypress Hill and rapper Ice Cube, who they claimed, stole material from the band. At the time this album was well received by critics worldwide.
Q - 4 Stars - Excellent - The production is sophisticated, incorporating Indian sitar and sloping, almost psychedelic bass grooves to create a vaguely threatening ambient hardcore.
Melody Maker - Bloody Essential - resonates with freakish cheese-wire paranoia a gobsmacking paradox of expansive claustrophobia. The funk patters like an erratic heartbeat, the voices are stretched to bursting with menace and loathing and mockery

Inspired by current San Francisco artists, Prophet felt compelled to pay tribute to the history and weirdness that brought him to the city nearly 30 years ago. Part love letter and part unsentimental tour, Temple Beautiful attempts to capture San Francisco in all it's forms: romantic port-of-call, bohemian utopia, but even more so, an often unforgiving pioneer outpost filled with the freaks and characters not welcome in America's heartland.1. Psychic Temple IIIt may seem hard to imagine a place where indie rock visionaries like Sufjan Stevens and Castanets' Ray Raposa could meld minds with the genius of Brian Wilson, where death metal pioneer Paul Masvidal might wield his legendary six-string chops on a blissed-out soul ballad, where adventurous young jazz players like Kris Tiner and Devin Hoff share credit with Mars Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens and singer/songwriter Aaron Roche.
Long Beach composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist (not to mention truck driver) Chris Schlarb has not only imagined such a place but has now made it manifest for a second time. Released by Asthmatic Kitty, Psychic Temple II is a labor of love, envisioned by Schlarb to bring his most far-ranging inspirations to life - as he puts it, "a dream ensemble that could never actually exist." The ensemble's sophomore release was painstakingly constructed over more than a year with the cooperation of some of the most progressive musical minds from a staggering variety of genres.
"I love interesting juxtapositions, where you bring together people from different communities," Schlarb says. He cites iconoclastic predecessors like Bill Laswell's ever-changing group Material, which once brought together a young Whitney Houston with jazz legend Archie Shepp and future Soundgarden and Red Hot Chili Peppers producer Michael Beinhorn to cover a song by Hugh Hopper of English prog-rock pioneers Soft Machine. On 2010's Psychic Temple, Schlarb assembled a 29-member ensemble that included Minutemen bassist Mike Watt, vocalist Julianna Barwick, and pianist Mick Rossi of the Philip Glass Ensemble.
"It seems like a crazy combination of people," Schlarb says, "but they're all just musicians. Why not bring them all together? It may not always work, but it's always worth reaching further."
Psychic Temple II reaches beyond the long-form experiments of its predecessor for a more tightly focused yet conceptually dense collection whose songs are no less exploratory for their briefer durations. "I never see the point in continuing to regurgitate," Schlarb says of the new album's unique direction. "What was natural at that time would now feel contrived. I have to keep moving forward."
Schlarb also includes three cover songs by composers who share his boundary-demolishing mindset: Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out," Frank Zappa's "Sofa No. 2," and Brian Wilson's "'Til I Die," a gorgeous, lesser-known Beach Boys song that features vocals by Sufjan Stevens, Castanets' Ray Raposa, and Cryptacize's Nedelle Torrisi.
Psychic Temple had its origins in Create (!), a large improvising ensemble with which Schlarb used to perform. The free-form group would often incorporate multiple drummers, a concept that Schlarb decided to pursue in a more composition-oriented setting. No matter how much Psychic Temple mutates from track to track, the rhythmic possibilities of its two drummers (in this case, Tabor Allen and Andrew Pompey) remain intact.
Schlarb's imaginative leaps are evidenced from the outset of Psychic Temple II, on the intoxicating opening track, "Seventh House." Featuring the sinuous vocals of Sarah Negahdari, who recently served as touring bassist for Silversun Pickups, the song weaves together lyrical and musical references to Neil Young's "Will To Love," to the Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers album Pisces, and to Sheena Easton's notorious Prince-penned pop hit "Sugar Walls."
Then there's "The Starry King Hears Laughter" and "She Is the Golden World," two songs that pay simultaneous homage to poet William Blake and jazz legend Bill Evans; or "Solo in Place," Schlarb's attempt to filter classic soul through his own "weird prism," a missing link between the Isley Brothers and the Alan Parsons Project that features guitar wizard Paul Masvidal of the death metal bands Death and Cynic.
Despite such a mind-blowing array of talent from the farthest reaches of the musical spectrum, Psychic Temple II is a surprisingly cohesive album, a testament to Schlarb's clear controlling vision. "One of the fundamental flaws of modern music is the idea of the record as a pastiche," he says. "With hip-hop and R&R records starting in the '90s, you had ten tracks with ten different producers so every track sounded completely different. There was no aesthetic where you could just put on a record and listen to it beginning to end. I admire people who are control freaks."
Schlarb has wielded control over a number of vastly different projects himself. The New York Observer called his debut solo album, Twilight & Ghost Stories, "40 minutes of avant-garde bliss," while Interoceans, recorded with experimental jazz duo I Heart Lung, was chosen by NPR as one of the top five jazz albums of 2008. He composed the score for Nicklas "Nifflas" Nygren's video game Nightsky and has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and Meet the Composer. In 2001, Schlarb founded the eclectic Sounds Are Active record label, which has released music by the likes of Nels Cline, Mike Watt, and Castanets.1. Seventh House

A Fallen Temple
Remastered Re-release Of Septicflesh's 1998 Classic Album
Includes Four Rare Bonus Tracks
Adorned With A Brand New Cover Artwork Designed By Septicflesh Frontman Seth "Siro" Anton.
"The Last Time" is a PARADISE LOST cover which was previously only available on a long sold-out tribute album to one of the Greek demons' biggest influences, and the last three bonus tracks come from the 1998 'The Eldest Cosmonaut' EP.
With Ophidian Wheel (originally released 1997) SEPTICFLESH took a bold step away from the classic Death Metal formula they had established with their two earlier albums Mystic Places of Dawn (1994) and Esoptron (1995). This third full-length fully explored and experimented with the possibilities offered by classic Gothic Metal as defined by PARADISE LOST's eponymous album. Gothic (1991) is an obvious influence for Ophidian Wheel with its amalgamation of harsh Death Metal, dark Gothic atmospheres and contrasting beautiful female vocals. To this recipe the Greek demons added their trademark spices like the singing guitar sound and classical elements. For the first time SEPTICFLESH featured the exceptionally talented soprano Natalie Rassoulis on Ophidian Wheel for stunning impact.
The band was founded in Athens in 1990 by brothers Christos and Spiros Seth Antoniou joined by guitarist Sotiris Vayenas. The Greeks quickly released the Temple of the Lost Race EP (1991), which was followed by their cult first full-length Mystic Places of Dawn. Both have already been re-released jointly by Season of Mist. This was followed by the reissue of SEPTICFLESH's second album Esoptron with new artwork and bonus tracks, on which the Greeks already expanded their sonic realm with hints of Gothic flavour and a heavy infusion of TYPE O NEGATIVE.
SEPTICFLESH cemented their reputation for experimental and intelligent Metal music with A Fallen Temple (1998), Revolution DNA (1999) and Sumerian Daemons (2003). Yet in October 2003 the band members decided to go separate ways. Continuous demand of their large and loyal following finally led to a reunion in 2007, after which SEPTICFLESH firmly established themselves as a leading force of symphonic Dark Metal with critically acclaimed masterpieces Communion (2008) and The Great Mass (2011).1. Offering: Live At Temple University documents a legendary concert by John Coltrane at Temple University in his hometown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
on November 11, 1966, six weeks after his fortieth birthday and nine months before his untimely death. Offering incorporates a look that is contiguous with the graphic identity of Impulse! Records, Coltrane's exclusive label from 1961
until the end of his life. This is the first officially sanctioned release of an undiscovered, complete Coltrane performance since 2005. It captures Coltrane in
exemplary form, navigating the language he had developed during the last phase of his musical path with passion and pellucid logic. Operating at
equivalent levels of invention and energy are three members of his working quintet of one year's standing his wife, Alice Coltrane, on piano; Pharoah
Sanders on reeds and flute; and Rashied Ali on drums.
Offering is emblematic of the efflorescent energies and radical ideas that Coltrane himself had much to do with bringing forth during the seven years after
1960, when he left the employ of Miles Davis to pursue his vision as a leader. There are versions of Coltrane's 1960 hits "Naima" and "My Favorite
Things," a transformational reworking of the 1964 ballad "Crescent," a spirit-raising rendering of "Leo," which he had recorded on several previous
occasions during 1966, and the hymnal "Offering," which he would record on a February 15, 1967 studio session that Impulse! would release during the
'90s as Spiritual Offering.
On Offering, Resonance Records achieves the highest possible audio quality, using direct transfers of original master reels from a location recording by
Temple's WRTI-FM, remastered at 96kHz/24 bit, that were tracked down by Coltrane scholar Yasuhiro Fujioka.
The immense life-force that animates the proceedings on this November 1966 evening in Philadelphia belies the declining state of Coltrane's health. It is
still difficult to grasp and to accept that he was firmly in the grip of the liver cancer that would still his voice on July 17, 1967. As co-producer Ashley Kahn
states in his liner notes, "Coltrane was pointing the way forward for generations of players to come, pushing the music to exhilarating, spiritual heights that
caught most by surprise. In 1966, that wasn't what jazz performances were about not yet."

Nine studio albums have been released on such labels as Amphetamine Reptile and Relapse -- including modern-day classics like Willpower, Temple of the Morning Star, and In the Eyes of God -- and the band's changing lineup has included such musicians as Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, who would later go on to form Mastodon. Today Is The Day has toured the world with Motorhead, Helmet, The Melvins, Morbid Angel, Converge, Napalm Death, Neurosis, Eyehategod, Unsane, Coalesce, and many more. A Flourish And A Spoil (Awaiting Repress)The Districts deliver raw, rollicking power on 'A Flourish And A Spoil' out February 10 on Fat Possum Records. John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen, Swans) produced/engineered/mixed the album at Seedy Underbelly Studio (formerly Pachyderm Studio) in Cannon Falls, MN. The resulting 10 tracks capture the boisterous live performances from the quartet, who are all between 19 and 20 years old. The Guardian UK says, The Districts will be your new favourite band.
The four-piece band formed in 2009 while the members were still in high school in Lancaster County, PA. 'A Flourish And A Spoil' features singer/guitarist Rob Grote's vocals front and center, combining equal parts ferocity and yearning as when he reflects on leaving behind suburban childhood on Suburban Smell. The album credits original members Grote, Connor Jacobus on bass and Braden Lawrence on percussion with Pat Cassidy joining on guitar.
The Districts have toured with bands including Deer Tick, White Denim, Dr. Dog and Temples and won over fans on both sides of the pond with 2014 sets at Lollapalooza, ACL and Reading Festival, among others. Don't Act Like You Don't CareBefore the success of his group Here We Go Magic, Luke Temple worked full-time as a plasterer. At nights after work, he spent his hours crafting what would become Here We Go Magic's self-titled debut. During the days he wrote a completely different set of songs in his head. The resulting record Don't Act Like You Don't Care shines with clarity and daylight, in contrast to Here We Go Magic's hazy aquatic debut.
After recording two critically acclaimed solo records for Mill Pond (2005, 2007) Temple's work still hadn't garnered much attention from the record-buying public. Frustrated, but not defeated, he focused his creative energy into the writing of two amazing, but completely different records. Initially referred to as 'The Country Record,' Don't Act Like You Don't Care was shelved due to the success of Here We Go Magic's self-titled debut. Now, three years later, we're finally able to offer this incredible collection of folk-pop songs.
Unlike the Here We Go Magic record, Don't Act Like You Don't Care focuses on Temple's songwriting and evocative tenor. From heartbreaking ballads like So Long, So Long and Ballad for Dick George to jaunty pop gems like Ophelia and In The Open you'll become fast friends with these songs that continue to satisfy after hundreds of listens.
Inspired by Rudy Van Gelder's early Blue Note recordings, Temple and friends recorded the songs in two 4-hour sessions using just three microphones and a 4-track recorder. Temple is fortunate to have some amazingly talented friends with Eliot Krimsky (Glass Ghost) on synths, Tyler Wood on piano, Parker Kindred (Antony and the Johnsons, Jeff Buckley) on drums, Michael Bloch (Here We Go Magic) on guitar and Adam Chilenski on bass.1. IVRecords like Psychic Temple IV aren't made anymore. Maybe they never were. There is a magic present that some mistake for tubes or tape but it's no more complicated than putting the right musicians together with the right songs.
Produced and composed by band/cult leader Chris Schlarb, Psychic Temple IV is what happens when 87-year old Max Bennett (bassist on Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark and Hissing of Summer Lawns) plays with 26-year old drummer Tabor Allen (of Cherry Glazerr). British rock legend Terry Reid sings a trio of duets written and arranged for the only artist nicknamed Superlungs. When keyboardist Mick Rossi wrote to say he would be in town with the Philip Glass Ensemble, songs were composed and a new date was put on the calendar.
Psychic Temple IV was recorded in Los Angeles over a series of eight large scale sessions. In the spirit of the classic Wrecking Crew sessions for Phil Spector and the Beach Boys, the band was often tasked with recording four songs per session. Vocals were added as soon as the rhythm section tracks were cut with Terry Reid, Arlene Deradoorian, and Nedelle Torrisi joining Chris in the studio to work out harmony parts and sing live together.
After making his vocal debut on III, Schlarb toured the country twice over. His voice is assured and he seems to have lived with these songs (and the idea of singing) for some time. His melodies are soulful yet unpredictable having transferred his ability to write for instrumental ensembles to pop music. And yet the exploratory spirit of the first Psychic Temple album still abides. The music has been poured over with both care and abandon. There is magic in Psychic Temple IV. It's no more complicated than that.1. Spanish Beach

WARB-ATL-2807xStone Temple Pilots
PurplePurple is the second studio album released by the Stone Temple Pilots. The album, building off the foundations laid by the band's debut album Core, was a huge success for the band, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and remaining there for three weeks, eventually selling over six million copies. It spawned a number of successful singles - Vasoline, and Interstate Love Song both topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, while Big Empty also cracked the top ten. Lesser known album cuts Pretty Penny and Unglued were also released as promotional radio singles.
The album's style sees an expansion of the band's sound. While the band's debut, Core, had a more grunge-oriented sound with churning guitar riffs and aggressive vocals, Purple saw the band shift to a more alternative rock-style, incorporating a number of influences, including psychedelic and southern rock.
A dominant force in rock music since the early '90s, Stone Temple Pilots proved to be one of the most accomplished and iconic bands of their generation, racking up 15 Billboard Top 10 singles - 6 of which hit #1 - and total sales in excess of 35 million albums worldwide. The California-based band went on hiatus in 2002, following the release of the critically acclaimed Shangri-La Dee Da, ultimately reuniting for a massive 2008 concert tour encompassing more than 65 dates across North America. Among their many accolades, Stone Temple Pilots received a Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal Grammy Award for their #1 Mainstream Rock smash, Plush. Other honors bestowed upon the band over the years include additional Grammy award nominations, two American Music Awards, one Billboard Music Award, two Billboard Video Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award.1. Tiny MusicThe third Stone Temple Pilots album received critical acclaim for its broad spectrum of sounds - it proved the Pilots are anything but a one-day fly and also their Grunge roots (although being accused of being too 'commercial' sounding for true Grunge standards) are still firmly in
Guitarist Dean DeLeo is a true master of hooks and his palette of chords and melodies seems endless. Singer Scott Weiland's out-of-this-world lyrics set him apart as a true showman.
By slightly accentuating their music with Pop influences, this very strategy allows STP to distinguish themselves from the pack of flannel wearing, long haired bands that were raiding the airwaves in the '90s.1. Press Play

Purple is the second studio album released by the Stone Temple Pilots.
While the band's debut, Core, had a more grunge-oriented sound with churning guitar riffs and aggressive vocals, Purple saw the band shift to a more alternative rock-style, incorporating a number of influences, including psychedelic and southern rock.1. Shangri-La Dee DaShangri-La Dee Da is the fifth studio album by American Hard Rock band Stone Temple Pilots. It was produced by Brendan O'Brien and released in 2001. The album was certified Gold.
While recording the album, the band also worked on a documentary and coffee table book. Neither was released, however, and limited footage was made available through the band's official website in the form of live performance-based music videos.
The album's most successful song Days of the Week was only being performed at a handful of dates on the supporting tour for the album. However, the album's second single Hollywood Bitch has become a staple of the band's live set ever since their 2008 reunion. In 2011, the song Black Again was added to STP's setlist, and was performed for the majority of the tour. Bi-Polar Bear was also performed occasionally, after the band reunited in 2008.1. Dumb Love
