Feel the Earth Move: Mobile Fidelity Gives Listeners the End-All-Be-All Definitive Analog Version of the Long-Time Audiophile Classic

Analog Reissue True to Producer's Original Intent of Putting Carole King in the Room With You: Experience and Feel Every Organic Nuance, Suggestive Delivery, Intimate Note

Blockbuster Album Defined Singer-Songwriter Movement, Swept Grammy Awards, Spawned Four Hit Singles, Sold More Than 25 Million Copies Worldwide

Ranked #36 on Rolling Stone's List of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

Carole King's Tapestry is one of the rare albums that immediately plays in your head the moment its title, cover art, or songs are mentioned. Having achieved status of near-mythical proportions, it is the singer-songwriter record you'd bring to the proverbial desert island if you were limited to one choice. Renowned for its lifelike production, Tapestry now sounds clearer, richer, and more emotional courtesy of Mobile Fidelity's 180g LP. Audiophiles, this is the version that brings Carole King right before your eyes and into your room. This is the edition you need. It's the edition you deserve.

Faithful to original album producer Lou Adler's vision of making King (and not just any pianist player) appear seated and playing in front of listeners, this numbered limited-edition 180g LP delivers utmost transparency, balance, warmth, intimacy, and perhaps most importantly, feeling. Aware of how many times this iconic work has been re-released, Mobile Fidelity engineers settled for nothing less than the absolute finest sonic presentation possible when mastering Tapestry from the original master tapes.

The results mirror what went down in the A&M Studios. Lean, simple, direct, and so nakedly real the sonics evoke what might be heard on a professional demo tape, this collectable LP gives what Rolling Stone deems the 36th Greatest Album of All Time the due it deserves. King's personal singing, her graceful pianism, the integral rhythmic foundation provided by the likes of drummer Russ Kunkel and guitarist Danny Kortchmar, and the symmetrical contributions of guest instrumentalists ranging from saxophonist Curtis Amy to guitarist James Taylor resonate with three-dimensional imaging and cozy realism. Every note, every basic movement, accurately rendered with exquisite detail and full-bodied tonality.

Indeed, one reason-apart from the flawless songwriting, earnest deliveries, and eloquent performances-Tapestry endures is because of the naturalness of the production and songs. King's unadulterated articulations on love, conviction, friendship, place, sadness, and companionship ring true because there's no doubting their meaning, intent, or sincerity. Tapestry makes you feel, and compels you to get closer to the music, and the musicians performing. It is an album of organic nuances, suggestive intents, and engaging melodies.

    Magical Mystery Tour

Sourced From the Original Master Tapes

    Cut at Abbey Road Studios

    Pressed on 180 gram vinyl

Containing some fantastic material from The Beatles' hippy heyday, including the lovely Fool on the Hill (with an endearingly amateurish tin-whistle solo), the delicately woven tapestry of Strawberry Fields Forever, the glorious anthem All You Need is Love and mad, surrealist epic I Am the Walrus, in which Lennon takes the concept of lyrical and musical nonsense and just explodes it all over the speakers. For an album of bits and bobs, there is genius in these grooves.

A team consisting of some of the best producers and engineers in the recording industry were brought together and would spend 4 long years mixing and mastering with some of the most state of the art recording equipment. Treating these records much like a science experiment, engineers ran extensive tests before copying the analog master tapes over into a digital format using 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and carefully removing clicks, vocal pops and poor edits. Never altering the original songs themselves, just polishing them up a bit.

    The Smile Sessions

With the full participation of original Beach Boys Al Jardine, Mike Love, and Brian Wilson, Capitol/EMI has, for the first time, collected and compiled the bands legendary 1966-67 sessions for the never-completed SMiLE album.

In numerous sessions between the spring of 1966 and the summer of 1967, The Beach Boys recorded a bounty of songs and drafts for an album, SMiLE, that was intended to follow the band's 1966 masterpiece, Pet Sounds. The master tapes were ultimately shelved, and The Beach Boys' SMiLE has never been released. Drawn from the original masters, The SMiLE Sessions presents an in-depth overview of The Beach Boys' recording sessions for the enigmatic album, which has achieved legendary, mythical status for music fans around the world.

The SMiLE Sessions double vinyl LP features an approximation of what was intended to be the completed SMiLE album, compiled from The Beach Boys original session masters. Additional session highlights and bonus tracks are also included, including demos and stereo mixes.

Produced by Brian Wilson, Mark Linett, Alan Boyd and Dennis Wolfe in Los Angeles The SMiLE Sessions 2LP Set includes an assembled collection of core session tracks. The SMiLE Sessions invites the listener into the studio to experience the album's creation, with producer, singer and bassist Brian Wilson's vision leading the way as he guides his fellow Beach Boys, singer Mike Love, drummer Dennis Wilson, lead guitarist Carl Wilson, rhythm guitarist Al Jardine, and newest member Bruce Johnston (who'd replaced Brian Wilson in the touring group during 1965), through the legendary sessions.

Artwork for The SMiLE Sessions has been created with and inspired by Beat-Pop artist Frank Holmes original 1967 LP sleeve art and booklet designs intended for the SMiLE album.

When Capitol/EMI and The Beach Boys first announced plans for The SMiLE Sessions 2011 release, the news spread rapidly. Pitchfork reported, The Beach Boys SMiLE is quite possibly the most storied album in rock history, Billboard proclaimed the upcoming release an event that pop music fans have been waiting for since the Summer of Love, and The Washington Post called SMiLE the most legendary unreleased album of all time.

The best efforts have been taken by The Beach Boys, the producers, and Capitol/EMI to present the SMiLE album sessions most vital and fascinating elements. However, there will no doubt be some debate amongst Beach Boys fans around the world who, during the past four decades, have become familiar with a variety of widely-traded bootlegged bits and pieces from the sessions. As recently explained by the Detroit Metro Times, No album, released or not, has generated a more personal relationship with its audience, since no two people can ever agree on its content and purpose.

Beginning with Good Vibrations, The Beach Boys best-selling record in a long string of hits, Brian Wilson had begun to construct songs in a modular form, crafting individual sections that would later be edited together to form a coherent whole. In several intense bursts of creative energy, Wilson, drawing on the talents of the finest studio musicians in Los Angeles and utilizing the best studio facilities available on any given day, laid down dozens of musical fragments, all designed to fit together in any number of possible combinations. No one had done this before in pop music, and his next endeavor would be an album-length version of this unique and luxurious songwriting parlance: SMiLE.

In 1965, Brian Wilson met an up-and-coming session keyboard player and songwriter, Van Dyke Parks. Noticing Parks' conversational eloquence, Wilson felt that he could help to volley The Beach Boys songwriting into the wave of broader-messaged and socially-conscious rock 'n' roll that would come to define the '60s. They were soon collaborating on keynote songs for SMiLE, including Heroes And Villains, the bands follow-up single to Good Vibrations. Wilson and Parks would also co-write Surf's Up, Vega-Tables, Cabin Essence, Do You Like Worms, Wonderful, Wind Chimes, and other pieces of the SMiLE tapestry. Parks also introduced Frank Holmes to create album sleeve art and a booklet interpreting the albums James Joyce-mode lyrics.

The reason SMiLE did not see a release in 1967 had more to do with back room business that obscured the creative side of the program than anything else. In late 1966, The Beach Boys formed Brother Records, initially to produce outside artists. Soon, however, The Beach Boys would become embroiled in a court action with Capitol Records with the goal to become the top-selling artists on their self-owned, independent label. The group withheld Heroes And Villains and announced they would instead release Vega-Tables recorded with the bands own money in April of '67 on Brother Records. By July of 1967, Capitol Records and The Beach Boys had come to terms, with Capitol agreeing to distribute the bands Brother Records, and it was agreed that SMiLE was no longer to be the bands next album.

    Endtroducing (Awaiting Repress)

What resonated about Endtroducing when it was released in 1996, and what makes it still resonate today, is the way in which it loosens itself from the mooring of the known and sails off into an uncharted territory that seems to exist both in and out of time. Davis is not only a master sampler and turntablist supreme, he is also a serious archeologist with a world-thirsty passion for seeking out, uncovering and then ripping apart the discarded graces of some other generation, that pile of broken dreams, and sewing them back together into a tapestry of chronic bleakness and beauty. - Eliot Wilder

    Fade

Fade is the most direct, personal and cohesive album of Yo La Tengo's career. Recorded with John McEntire at Soma Studios in Chicago, it recalls the sonic innovation and lush cohesion of career high points like 1997's I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One and 2000's And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out. The album is a tapestry of fine melody and elegant noise, rhythmic shadowplay and shy-eyed orchestral beauty, songfulness and experimentation.

Loreena McKennitt's fourth release is a quietly majestic tapestry of world-beat and Celtic pop that effortlessly
weaves together traditional and contemporary songs into lush showcases for her fluid voice and harp. The multi-talented

    The Cotton Club Soundtrack

First 1,000 Copies Pressed On Silver Vinyl

While director Francis Coppola's potboiling crime drama set against the gloriously tumultuous backdrop of Harlem's famed Cotton Club nightspot of the '20s and '30s didn't quite come together as a cinematic whole, John Barry's efforts at supervising, scoring, and recreating the energetic jive and wail of the era very nearly carry the day. The opportunity was likely a dream come true for the former jazzman turned film scorer; his adaptations of standards by Ellington and Cab Calloway are reverent yet energetic, infused by original music that weaves it into an accessible and rewarding tapestry of time, place, and art. So-so film, great soundtrack. --Jerry McCulley

    The Blackout (Limited Edition)

For several years, Tunnels has been the moniker for the solo output of Nicholas Bindeman. Over time Bindeman's sound has evolved from the slow, breathing landscapes of his earlier ambient/drone releases (Colour Seance, Vexations) to completely fried-out bedroom psych explorations (Astral Collage, In Between Dreams). Throughout these releases he has been committed to an expanding array of music based on sounds invoked from a wide open, psychedelic dream state more akin to Angus Maclise. Rarely has he adhered to any formal song structure, as is also evident with his role in bands Eternal Tapestry and Jackie-O Motherfucker.

The Blackout delves into a world of sound unheard of on any prior Tunnels release as Bindeman steps away from the heady guitar wizardry of Eternal Tapestry to craft a pulsing and dark record steeped in cold dread with a pop sheen. Bass lines, often the centerpiece of the song, play alongside glistening, glass slipper synths and jagged guitars, seeping like silver lined shadows into disaffected vocal incantations. Drawing on a disparate palate of sounds from various facets of electronic music, his version of a new cold wave is a sound both novel and infectious.

    Secret Walls EP

The Fresh & Onlys have had an unusually prolific past couple of years. On the heels of their critically acclaimed album Play It Strange, the band returns with a bold creative leap forward on their new EP Secret Walls. The cavernous opening sounds of Secret Walls reveal the strong threads of hazy post-punk melancholy that have been woven throughout the bands catalog and have now fully matured. Tim Cohens crooning baritone is more confident and commanding than ever as it is sewn into the dizzying tapestry of the melody, while the guitar sounds of Wymond Miles often suggest the dynamic interplay of Verlaine/Lloyd. Long in the works, this EP was recorded in guitarist Miles San Francisco studio and properly captures their ambience while bringing forward Kyle Gibsons lock-step drumming and the unique melodic play of bassist Shayde Sartin. It is the next logical step for the F&Os and their moody, jangly guitar pop.

Between The Times And The Tides

Between The Times And The Tides is the first proper, song-oriented studio album from Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo. Recorded with longstanding Sonic Youth producer John Agnello, the album is a shimmering and melodic tapestry of rock sounds.

Ranaldos trademark alternate-tuning guitar work is at the forefront here, but it is amplified by brilliant leadwork from Wilcos Nels Cline on every track. The all-star lineup also includes Sonic Youths Steve Shelley on drums, Alan Licht on guitar, and John Medeski on keyboards. There are also cameos from original Sonic Youth drummer Bob Bert and producer and instrumentalist Jim ORourke.

Between The Times and The Tides is equal parts smart, confident and loose in a manner that recalls some of Matador's favorite rock n' roll projects yet sounds like a fantastic new band that was apparently being assembled right under our noses. With lyrics plumbing Ranaldos childhood and adolescence, its a fascinatingly approachable song collection from one of rocks greatest guitarists. Includes MP3 coupon.

Following the release of their most acclaimed album of their decade-long career, Deep Politics (2011), Grails revisited Black Tar Prophecies, their ever-expanding, enigmatic tapestry of eclectic experiments released in scarce limited editions that often disappear before most fans discover their existence.

Black Tar Prophecies Vol's 4, 5 & 6 collects the last three volumes in the Black Tar series, originally released as a limited-edition 12, and a split LP with Finish psych-rock phenoms, Pharaoh Overlord. Exclusive to this collection is Volume 6, three previously unreleased tracks that run the gamut from found-sound collage to moody, piano-driven soundtracks to obscure erotic horror films that never existed (but should have).

Deluxe Gatefold 2xLP features four mind-blowing laser etchings - one on each side of the record, beginning where the grooves of the music end. It's pretty, and pretty unbelievable.

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere. - Carl Sagan

Sagan Youth have traveled many light-years and have many more to go...The duo's second full-length release Cela is a 10-song science-fiction concept album chronicling the journey to and exploration of Saturn's icy moon Enceladus. The story is portrayed not only through vividly emotive tracks but also by an intricate comic which graces the inside of the album's gatefold sleeve. Cela was laboriously recorded using only analog synthesizers, effects, and tape units, creating a complex tapestry of organically evolving overtones. Drawing upon the rich history of electronic music, from mid-20th century avant-garde to hypnotic Komische, Sagan Youth create idiosyncratic electronic expressions. They fluidly modulate between different soundscapes and emotional timbres, but always with underlying themes of compassionate questioning, open-mindedness, and an awe of Nature.

    Cruel Sister

Cruel Sister was an album recorded in 1970 by Folk Rock band Pentangle. All the tracks are versions of traditional songs. Whereas their previous album had been produced by Shel Talmy, and featured quite a heavily produced, commercial sound, Cruel Sister was produced by Bill Leader, noted for his recordings of Folk musicians.

The whole of side two of the album is taken up with an extended version of the ballad Jack Orion, previously recorded by Jansch on his own Jack Orion album. The arrangement on Cruel Sister develops through several sections with different rhythms and instrumentation.

Allmusic gave the album resounding approval in their retrospective review, applauding its dense, layered sound that is woven within the fabric of each song like a tapestry and praising Jacqui McShee's vocal work in particular.

    Jackie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Jackie is the upcoming biographical film from Chilean director Pablo LarraĆn. Starring Natalie Portman (Black Swan) in the title role, the movie follows Jacqueline Kennedy from the days when she was First Lady of the White House to the aftermath of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Critically lauded since its debut at the Venice Film Festival where it won the Best Screenplay Award, Jackie also received the Platform Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival and is a heavy favorite going into awards season. The score to Jackie was composed by experimental British musician Mica Levi, best known for her ethereal score to 2013's sleeper hit "Under the Skin". Mournful and eerie with a touch of the surreal, Levi has delivered an unmistakable musical tapestry every bit as iconic as Jackie O herself.

    Wonderwall Music

Remastered From The Original Analogue Master Tapes And Cut At Capitol Studios To Ensure Exceptional Audio Quality Throughout

    Pressed On 180-Gram Vinyl

Released in November 1968, George Harrison's Wonderwall Music was the first solo album released by a member of The Beatles and the first LP to be released by Apple Records. The soundtrack music for director Joe Massot's debut feature-length film, Wonderwall, the predominantly instrumental album is an intricate, vibrant tapestry of Western rock music and compositions in an Indian classical style. In 1992, George recalled, "I decided to do it as a mini-anthology of Indian music, because I wanted to help turn the public on to Indian music." The booklet also includes a new essay of appreciation by the acclaimed musician, producer and composer Nitin Sawney and newly written historical notes by Kevin Howlett.

    Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian

Guillermo Scott Herren (aka Prefuse 73) is nothing if not proven. It is hard to think of a name that carries as much weight in both hip hop and avant rock circles as prefuse 73 who in the past year alone has been asked to remix TV on the Radio, Pelican, BLK JKS, and Cornelius, not to mention his early collaborations with School of Seven Bells and Battles.

These interactions have clearly helped to shape the evolving Prefuse 73 sonic aesthetic, which has expanded to include Herren's twisted visions of prog rock, machine funk, and global psychedelia.

For Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian, Herren rejected the idea of straight digital recording instead went the much more intensive route of recording straight to analog Ampex tape, giving the album the sound of a lost tape of exploratory studio musicians from the not-to-distant past. In addition to the recording process Ampexian also differs in its composition, existing as a tapestry of tracks of varying lengths and moods, albeit with a remarkable linear flow and of course unmatched rhythmic bump.

    Knight Vision

The Christian rock scene is replete with slick, careerist bands whose lyrics gingerly tread on the ecumenical outskirts of religious allusions in an attempt to alienate as few mainstream rock consumers as possible. It's no wonder that The Knights of the New Crusade, with their resolute unconcern for compromise (Matthew 16:26), became a flashpoint for contention in both the Christian and secular rock music worlds.

Their first album, 2004's My God Is Alive! Sorry About Yours!, combined gut-level garage punk music and unrepentant Christian lyrics to make Christian rock relevant in a way it had never been before. The Pharisees of the Christian rock establishment were quick to make their disapproval known, and the Knights of the New Crusade answered with their Kierkegaardean opus Knight Beat: A Challenge to the Cowards of Christendom, a rallying cry for true disciples of Christ who were tired of the hypocritical Christianity prevalent in our society.

Now, the Knights and Alternative Tentacles bring you Knight Vision: Hymns for the Invisible Church, a rich and deep tapestry displaying their spiritual, intellectual, and musical development. An Eastern mysticism may be identified amid the solid garage rock foundations, but do not let such elements obfuscate the nature of Knights' dedication to Christendom.

    These Changing Skies (Awaiting Repress)

The five members of Elephant Revival share a deep commitment to certain ideals: community, recognizing one's place in the flow of the natural world, harmony. Holding on to those ideals in the midst of heady career growth and strong individual
creative forces could be difficult, but they weather these storms with aplomb, and in doing so, have produced their best album to date. It is a document about striving for transcendence under These Changing Skies which was recorded at legendary
Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, WA and was produced and mixed by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile, The Walkmen).

Elephant Revival formed on the banks of Spring Creek in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and then relocated to Nederland, Colorado in fall of 2006. They loved one another's sense of shared values and the way that their disparate musical influences began to form a more cohesive tapestry the more they played together.

"It really is a natural confluence of our elemental influences," says bassist/multi-instrumentalist Dango Rose. Those elemental influences extend beyond the musical to a world view that is expressed not only through the music, but in their lyrics.

    Palingenesis

'Palingenesis' is impossibly delicate, impeccably rendered neofolk; it is transporting and autumnal, bringing spectral figures into focus, exploring with curiosity and wonder the darkest heart of a vast folkloric wilderness. - Michael Nelson (STEREOGUM)

Derived from the greek words for 'birth' [genesis] and 'again' [palin], the term Palingenesis refers to a variety of concepts of rebirth and recreation, ranging from the stoic idea of the continuing recreation of the cosmos, the christian belief in spiritual regeneration through baptism, or the originally pythagoreean concept of the souls' transmigration into a new body. NEBELUNG take up the energy behind these concepts, using them as archetypal images for mans' eternal strive for spiritual perfection in a meditation on death and decay, transformation and renewal.

More than two years on the making, the release of PALINGENESIS defines a new era for NEBELUNG. Where its predecessors had been singing the hymn of autumn and night by the means of simply structured melancholic folk songs, PALINGENESIS takes on a different approach, transcending the boundaries of lyrics and song, sparing light and reason, and letting the music take on a direct and unaltered way to the depths of the subconscious. PALINGENESIS is a deep and transforming listen, with tracks built up like Mantras, tucking the listener into a dense and detailed tapestry of subtly woven, intertwining melodies and drones, rich in detail and structure, incorporating such a variety of acoustic instruments as both classical and steel stringed guitars, cello, accordion, indian harmonium, hammered dulcimer, glass harp, percussion and voice.

    Made To Love Magic

    Reissue

The rarities collection, Made to Love Magic, contains demos captured in 1968 (when Drake was studying at Cambridge University) as well as solo-acoustic sketches of later songs - and a newly discovered piece, Tow the Line, which Drake scholars believe is one of the last things he committed to tape. The song, recorded in 1974, was found, unlabeled, at the end of a master tape when original engineer John Wood was mixing this album.

Tow the Line, which lasts 2:16, is classic Drake, as simple as Pink Moon or any of his later works but almost more compelling because of its assertive, driving rhythm. Drake was an unerringly precise guitarist, and Tow the Line is an excellent showcase for his devices: He outlines the verses using a tapestry of delicate, yet tense, descending chords, and then chops out blunt, almost growly blues references on the refrain.

There are other delights on Magic, among them a solo treatment of River Man (from Five Leaves Left) without the string orchestra; the somber, anguishing love ode Clothes of Sand; and a relaxed journey through Rider on the Wheel. Far more interesting than typical demos, laced with the shadowy moods some artists spend years chasing in studios, these casual performances suggest that there was never anything casual about Drake's art: Even when he was just jotting down some idea, he couldn't help infecting it with that strange, mournful magic.
