Core (25th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition) (Pre-Order)

Stone Temple Pilots roared on to the scene 25 years ago with their raucous debut Core. A breakout success, the album peaked at #3 on the Billboard charts, dominated radio waves with hits like Sex Type Thing and Wicked Garden, and has been certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA. The band also took home the 1994 Grammy® Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for their smash single Plush.

The legendary album's silver anniversary, which is 25 years to the day of the album's original debut. CORE: SUPER DELUXE EDITION includes four CDs featuring a newly remastered version of the original album, plus more than two hours of unreleased demos and live performances, including the band's performance on MTV Unplugged. Also included is the original album on vinyl and a DVD that contains a 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of the album along with videos for the album's four singles. Purple

Purple is the second studio album released by the Stone Temple Pilots. The album, building off the foundations laid by the band's debut album Core, was a huge success for the band, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and remaining there for three weeks, eventually selling over six million copies. It spawned a number of successful singles - Vasoline, and Interstate Love Song both topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, while Big Empty also cracked the top ten. Lesser known album cuts Pretty Penny and Unglued were also released as promotional radio singles.

The album's style sees an expansion of the band's sound. While the band's debut, Core, had a more grunge-oriented sound with churning guitar riffs and aggressive vocals, Purple saw the band shift to a more alternative rock-style, incorporating a number of influences, including psychedelic and southern rock.

A dominant force in rock music since the early '90s, Stone Temple Pilots proved to be one of the most accomplished and iconic bands of their generation, racking up 15 Billboard Top 10 singles - 6 of which hit #1 - and total sales in excess of 35 million albums worldwide. The California-based band went on hiatus in 2002, following the release of the critically acclaimed Shangri-La Dee Da, ultimately reuniting for a massive 2008 concert tour encompassing more than 65 dates across North America. Among their many accolades, Stone Temple Pilots received a Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal Grammy Award for their #1 Mainstream Rock smash, Plush. Other honors bestowed upon the band over the years include additional Grammy award nominations, two American Music Awards, one Billboard Music Award, two Billboard Video Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award.

    4

4 is the fourth album released by American grunge rockers Stone Temple Pilots, released in 1999. The album was a return to the band's earlier Hard Rock roots, while also blending elements of Heavy Metal, Psychedelic Rock, and Alternative Rock.

Despite the lack of promotion due to singer Scott Weiland's one-year jail sentence shortly before the album's release, No. 4 was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2000. The song Down was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at the Grammy Awards. The album also produced one of STP's biggest hits, Sour Girl, which charted at #78 on the Hot 100, their only song to appear on that chart.

No.4 displays a deliberate effort by the band to return to a more Hard Rock-oriented sound featured on its first two albums. Allmusic cited the album as STP's hardest effort since Core, remarking that it's as if STP decided to compete directly with the new generation of alt-metal bands who prize aggression over hooks or riffs. Stephen Erlewine also wrote that No.4 consolidates all [of STP's] strengths.

Core is the debut album by the American rock band Stone Temple Pilots, released on September 29, 1992 through Atlantic Records. The album, which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and #3 on the Billboard 200, was certified 8x platinum by the RIAA on December 18, 2001, making it the band's best-selling album.

Core, as a debut album, displayed the band's attempt to revive the album-oriented music approach of the 1970s. Striving to create an intense and emotional sound, vocalist Weiland has said that the main theme of the album is that humanity is confused, with songs like Sex Type Thing and Naked Sunday dealing with social injustice. Sex Type Thing, according to Weiland, deals with abuse of power, macho behavior, and humanity's attitude toward women, treating them as sex objects. Naked Sunday, according to Weiland, is about organized religion. About people who tell others what to do and what to believe. They switch off people's minds and control the masses. It gives me a feeling of isolation, when I think about it. Organized religion does not view everyone as equals.
