    Spectre Soundtrack

For the 24th movie in the James Bond oeuvre, "Spectre," Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes has again enlisted 6-time Grammy winner Thomas Newman ('Skyfall,' 'American Beauty') to write a breathtaking original score. This soundtrack has the added bonus of an instrumental version of the new Bond theme song, "Writing's On The Wall." The "Spectre" theme song sung by fellow multiple Grammy-winner Sam Smith, is the first time a male solo has sung the theme song since "Thunderball."

Recorded During The "Fire Of Unknown Origin" Tour In New York - 1981

Blue Öyster Cult began in 1967 as Soft White Underbelly with Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser on guitars, Allen Lanier on keyboards and Albert Bouchard on drums. Adding lead singer and guitarist Eric Bloom led to the name change of Oaxaca, then later the Stalk-Forrest Group, which issued one single. Joe Bouchard was added on bass and the group was signed to Columbia Records in 1971. Their first two albums, "Blue Oyster Cult" and 'Tyranny and Mutation", garnered some interest from rock critics, but it was third LP, "Secret Treaties," which first broke them in to the top 100 LP charts. "Spectres" was released in 1975 and featured "Godzilla," a concert favorite. In 1981 BOC was back on top with their "Fire Of Unknown Origin" album and a new top 40 hit in "Burnin' For You." "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" was featured in the movie "Heavy Metal."

This LP was recorded during the "Fire Of Unknown Origin" tour in New York, in 1981. This would be the last tour with Albert Bouchard who was replaced in late 1981. Here's a chance to listen to BOC at their very best during their peak of popularity.

First New Laibach Album In 8 Years

"Laibach at their best blur art and confrontation" - Guardian Live Review

Spectre, the new album from Laibach, is their first
studio album since 2006's Volk. This follows their the
original soundtrack for film Iron Sky
    (dir. Timo Vuorensola, 2012).

Laibach once again 're-invents' itself with Spectre in
a newly born, yet polished and solid formation. As is
now their custom, Laibach calls into question all the
rigid and cemented interpretations (and prejudices)
about itself, about its music, intentions, philosophy
    and ideology.

Spectre sounds like a political manifesto in poetic
form. With these lyrics and songs, Laibach, who has
always given a controversial impression / impression of
controversy, is now very clearly taking a position on the
political spectrum and probably abolishing its own (to
some extent quite comfortable) political 'freedom'
    and neutrality.

    Every Country's Sun

Every Country's Sun takes two decades of Mogwai's signature, contrasting sounds - towering intensity, pastoral introspection, synth-rock minimalism, DNA-detonating volume - and distills it, beautifully, into 56 concise minutes of gracious elegance, hymnal trance-rock, and transcendental euphoria. Produced by psych-rock luminary Dave Fridmann, it's a structural soundscape built from stark foundations up; from a gentle, twinkling, synth-rock spectre to a solid, blown-out, skyward-thrusting obelisk. There's percussive, dream-state electronics (Coolverine), church organs as chariots of existential fire (Brain Sweeties), tremulous, foreboding bleeping - possibly from a dying android (aka 47).

Their most transportive album yet, it also hosts their most fully realized art-pop sing-along of their storied history, Party In The Dark, a head-spinning disco-dream double-helix echoing New Order and The Flaming Lips, featuring Braithwaite's seldom-heard melodic vocals declaring he's directionless and innocent, searching for another piece of mind. This is music as a keep-out chrysalis, protective audio armor through exalting organs and portentous, dissonant guitar fuzz warping at the edges, bending the world inside-out into a reality in which you'd much rather live. The last three songs ascend into explosive exorcism, closing with the colossal Every Country's Sun, its searching intensity whooshing towards infinity in a dazzling cosmic crescendo.

    Too True

In the summer of 2012, between tours supporting End of Daze, I
locked out the world and sat down in my apartment to write a new record
    - clear view of the New York City sky through iron bars like a promise.
Like all compulsive minds, I was waiting to let the muse loose. And so
I spent the next week in a sparkling haze, and when I emerged from the
frenzy to go back on tour, indeed ten new songs came with. They were
bound together, not just by an overall sonic palette and new guitar pedal,
but by time, intention, and fervor. Do you hear Suede? Siouxie? Cold-wave
Patti? Madonna? Cure? Velvet and Paisley Undergrounds? Stone Roses?
    Cuz I did.

Still later, in November 2012, I returned to Hollywood to record among
the lingering Pet Sounds at East West Studios, in pursuit of a bigger,
darker, more urgent sound. Sitting in the room with my favorite team of
regulars (Richard Gottehrer and Sune Rose Wagner producing, Alonzo
Vargas engineering), it was easy to add some flesh to my song skeletons.
But, unfortunately, the previous year of touring had reduced my voice
to a pale spectre of its former self. I left California with the heavy burden
    of an unfinished album.

Truly one of those disguised blessings though - the extra time was a
gift. These songs weren't done at all! So I recorded vocals alone in my
bedroom studio, fueled by Rainer Maria Rilke, Anais Nin, Arthur Rimbaud,
Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire, Sylvia Plath; the punk poet singers
Patti Smith and Lou Reed; and finally, an unhealthy obsession with the
    Surrealists' manifesto of desire.

I write this now, many months later, on the up. So much of my life has
been defined, aided, and even saved by music. Too True is my best
attempt at joining the rock'n'roll ranks, of chasing pop into the dark,
and I am as ever, humbled that you listen.

    Moon

Born from love, musical empathy, a baby grand piano discovered on Gumtree and an expired visa, Snowbird duo Stephanie Dosen and Simon Raymonde have crafted an album of exquisite melody and mood that radiates the uncanny mystery of the object it's named after: moon.

Released on Bella Union, the label that Raymonde has run and curated since his former band Cocteau Twins went their individual ways in 1997, moon comprises 11 songs composed between two continents; Raymonde was in London while Dosen was in North Carolina after being based in the capital following her 2007 debut A Lily For The Spectre. Snowbird's album was subsequently crafted via the wonder of technology, and yet moon has one unifying and intimate sound and vision, from gently pulsating, pop-centric trails ("I Heard The Owl Call My Name", "Bears On My Trail") and lingering, luminous ballads ("All Wishes Are Ghosts", "Come To The Woods") to the musical equivalent of floating downstream, bathed
in silvery light ("Charming Birds From Trees", "In Lovely").

The eagle-eyed out there will notice the predominance of flora and fauna on moon, starting with the name Snowbird. There's more on "Where Foxes Hide", "We Carry White Mice" and "Heart Of The Woods". But there is one human subject in"Amelia", and others came out to play too, a suitably transatlantic roster of friends: Radiohead drummer Philip Selway and guitarist Ed O'Brien, Midlake guitarist Eric Pulido and drummer McKenzie Smith and two more gifted guitarists in Paul Gregory(Lanterns On The Lake) and Jonathan Wilson.

If the 11 tracks weren't enough there is a 2nd half of the record!. An album of remixes (one for each 11 tracks) by Michigan's electronic music genius by the name of RxGibbs, who expands, annotates and shines a whole new light on the wonder of Snowbird, adding and subtracting beats, creating otherworldly ambient passages, and building the other half of a distinctly beautiful and passionate whole that gives a whole new meaning to the term"moonstruck" The album cover (above) is by Vaughan Oliver, famed graphic designer known for his distinctive work for 4AD, including many album covers for Cocteau Twins.
