The Queen Is Dead (Box Set) (Pre-Order)

Ranked 216/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Widely considered to be both The Smiths' finest work and one of the greatest albums ever made, 'The Queen Is Dead' has cast a significant influence over subsequent generations since it was first released in the summer of 1986. Now Warner Bros. Records can confirms the details of a newly mastered and expanded version of the album.

The album features several of the band's finest moments including the title track and 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out', as well as the iconic singles 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side' and 'Bigmouth Strikes Again'.

You cannot continue to record and simply hope that your audience will approve, or that average critics will approve, or that radio will approve, says Morrissey. You progress only when you wonder if an abnormally scientific genius would approve - and this is the leap The Smiths took with The Queen Is Dead.

Johnny Marr adds, The Queen Is Dead was epic to make and epic to live.

5LP Vinyl Boxset - featuring the 2017 master of the album, additional recordings and the 'Live In Boston' recording. Housed in lift off box with 2 double gatefolds and 1 single.

After releasing two singles, the jaunty One of Two and new-no-wave classic Molten, the Yorkshire trio Sky Larkin released an EP, Swit Swoo featuring covers of songs by Travis Morrison, Patti Smith, Queens of the Stone Age and Jake Thackray in the spring of 2008. In May of the same year the band recorded their debut album in Seattle, WA. Following in the footsteps of long-time touring partners Los Campesinos!, the band chose to work with producer John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, Death Cab For Cutie, Nada Surf) and the result is The Golden Spike. 10th Anniversary Edition On 180-Gram Gold Vinyl

Includes A B2 Pull-Out Poster, Handwritten Lyrics & Previously Unseen Photos

Comes With A Special Bonus 7 With 2 Unreleased Songs

Limited To Only 1000 Copies For North America

This Autumn Midlake will celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Trials of Van Occupanther with a deluxe reissue via Bella Union on 180g gold vinyl, complete with a B2 pull-out poster, handwritten lyrics and previously unseen photos. The cover artwork has been reimagined in a fittingly flushed, hallucinatory painting by neo-impressionist (and pavement-scorching skateboarder) Brian Lotti. The original album will be accompanied by a special bonus 7" featuring two previously unreleased tracks, the plaintive rolling lament of "The Fairest Way" and the revelatory psychedelic swirl of "Festival," two tracks recorded before original vocalist Tim Smith departed the band.

In 2006, Van Occupanther was hailed as an instant classic and over the course of the next year proved to be the band's commercial breakthrough. While their debut, 2004's Bamnan and Slivercork, had drawn acclaim alongside comparisons to Grandaddy and Radiohead, Midlake looked further afield and deeper within for the follow-up. Suffused with a romantic yearning for the simpler life, this was a record pitched between 1871, 1971 and somewhere out of time: between Henry David Thoreau and Neil Young's After the Gold Rush, between 1970s Laurel Canyon thinking and a longing for something more mysterious. Rich reserves of wistful melody, dreamy horns, rolling guitars and plaintive pianos reflect its elusive, idiosyncratic narratives: a couple long to be robbed by bandits so they can start anew, an outcast scientist ponders his pariah status, a woman chases a frisky deer, a river leads who knows where yet leaves you little choice but to follow

Famous admirers included Thom Yorke, Beck, The Flaming Lips, Paul Weller, James Dean Bradfield, St Vincent, actor/skateboarder Jason Lee and The Chemical Brothers, and the album went on to secure high placings in the end-of-year polls. Since then, their influence has perhaps been felt in the breakthrough of many a band or singer at one with the stuff of beards, bucolic yearning and blissful West Coast harmonies, from Fleet Foxes to Band of Horses, The Low Anthem, Jonathan Wilson, Matthew E White and beyond.

Not that Midlake stood still to lap up the praise: a band acutely attuned to nature's shifts, they embraced change. In 2010 they ventured into darker psych-folk thickets for The Courage of Others and backed John Grant on his celebrated breakthrough album, Queen of Denmark. When Tim Smith subsequently departed, guitarist/singer Eric Pulido stepped up to the lead vocal role for 2013's freshly exploratory Antiphon. Since then, Pulido and various Midlake members have embarked on a new musical project with a cast of all-stars including members of Grandaddy, Franz Ferdinand, Band of Horses and Travis, for an album due for release next year. All of this serves to remind us what fertile seeds were sown with The Trials of Van Occupanther: a modern classic, made of vintage craft and timeless magic.

Thunder On The Mountain/ Dust On The Bible

Third Man and Nonesuch Records announced the release of the new album, The Party Aint Over, from Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Wanda Jackson earlier this fall. They are now proud to bring you the single Thunder On The Mountain b/w Dust On The Bible.

Known around the globe as ''The Queen Of Rock'' and ''The First Lady Of Rockabilly,'' Wanda Jackson has joined with friend and producer Jack White, to bring you this latest taste of her signature flavor. The tracks feature Jack White. Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather/The Greenhornes/The Raconteurs), Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket), Patrick Keeler (The Greenhornes, Raconteurs), Ashley Monroe, Jackson Smith and Karen Elson, to name just a few.

''Thunder On The Mountain'' is a particularly exceptional track. Originally penned by Bob Dylan and chosen for Mrs. Jackson by the poet himself, his rockabilly fever dream is given new life by the songstress.

Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound from the Original Tapes

Faithfully Reproduced Jacket Artwork; Tip-on Gatefold from Stoughton Printing

Gregg Allman's 1973 solo debut also became his biggest hit, a No. 13 LP featuring his Top 20 classic Midnight Rider. Analogue Productions now brings forth a sparkling reissue of this classic disc, mastered from the original analog tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. And presented as a 200-gram sonic superstar plated and pressed at our own Quality Record Pressings!

By the end of 1973, the Allman Brothers Band seemed to have it all nailed down, writes reviewer Rickey Wright. They'd proven their mettle with a fine synthesis of blues, jazz, folk, and country influences; expanded upon it with the definitive Fillmore East set; and moved forward after the separate losses of guitarist Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley. The group's myriad strengths, in fact, might've been the reason that one of their most obvious gifts - Gregg Allman's pained, growling voice - was sometimes overlooked.

Laid Back, Greg Allman's first solo disc, seems in part an effort to gain a little more recognition. It worked, particularly given the strong radio response to its opening track, a loping remake of Midnight Rider. Likewise, much of the album's remainder finds Allman tweaking the band's blues (Queen of Hearts) and country sides (a cover of Jackson Browne's These Days); horns and gospelish backing vocals add to the personal, often mournful feel. Laid Back is an often convincing version of the man's music.

Self-Titled Album Made Nugent And His Gonzo Guitar A Rock Icon!

There was a moment, in 1975 to be exact, when Ted Nugent was taken very seriously. As a musician. Before he decided to become whatever it is that he is now. ... Let's think back to 1975 when Ted was just a sex-crazed rock star who made a killer self-titled debut solo record that has now been remastered and reissued as a gatefold, by Chad Kassem's Analogue Productions and Quality Record Pressings. While his songwriting interests have never really changed, these were the best takes on all those ideas that Nugent would from this point on build his career on. ... on Ted Nugent his guitar riffs were never sharper, his playing never less indulgent. This is a record where even the inner cuts like 'Just What the Doctor Ordered' and 'Queen of the Forest' were good to great. - Robert Baird, Stereophile, May 2014

We were fortunate with this one. Fortunate you say? How so? Well for starters, the late and lauded mastering engineer George Marino at Sterling Sound mastered and cut the original 1975 release of Ted Nugent. Almost 40 years later, after some digging by George's protege, Ryan Smith, on behalf of this Analogue Productions reissue - lo and behold - George's mastering notes resurfaced as well as the original analog tape masters.

With the release of Ted Nugent, the self-proclaimed Motor City Madman and god of gonzo guitar became not just a star, but one of rock 'n' roll's icons. The songs Motor City Madhouse and Just What The Doctor Ordered would become two of many of Ted's road anthems. These and the other 10 monster tracks on Ted Nugent were clear evidence that Ted was an artist to be reckoned with.

Ted Nugent still likes to reflect back on what his critics were saying as he put his band, the Amboy Dukes, to rest and started the next phase of his career-one that would be under his own vision, his own direction and most importantly, his own name.

I remember some of the more creative writers of the ilk claimed it would be 'the final nail in my coffin' - quote, unquote, Nugent says with a redemptive laugh. I knew better.

The mention of Ted's name elicits different reactions from rock fans today in different parts of the country. Nods of familiarity on both coasts, and clenched fists and knowing grins in the vast Midwest and South. He's sold millions of albums. Rock radio couldn't play enough of him - and neither could promoters, who made him the hardest-working and top-grossing gunslinger of the mid- and late-'70s. While most other rockers posed with their sleek Stratocasters and Les Pauls, there was Nugent, whipping his mane of hair around his head as he cranked out sound on his big Gibson Birdland, a hog of a guitar with rich, thick and creamy tones - clearly not something to be trusted to amateurs. But in Nugent's hands it screamed, squealed and cried, providing a vivid 3-D voice for the monster crunch of Stranglehold, the menacing stomp of Stormtroopin and the fiery boogie of Hey Baby, Motor City Madhouse and Snakeskin Cowboys.

We feel this is Ted's finest recording by far. And here, you'll hear this classic more clearly and vividly than ever before. This reissue was remastered by Smith in the late George Marino's mixing room at Sterling Sound using Marino's VMS 80 lathe and an ATR 102 tape machine modified by Mike Spitz-the only one of its kind in the world.. Then this 200-gram vinyl beauty was pressed by Quality Record Pressings, makers of the world's finest LPs, where it was plated for vinyl by Gary Salstrom, QRP's master plating technician and general manager. The power burned into these grooves is difficult to find anywhere else this side of the Atlantic, and indeed it remains a rare commodity anywhere in the world.

As Ted himself proclaims: If anyone wanted to know what rock 'n' roll was all about, this is the only album they'll need.

    Horehound

White Stripes and Raconteurs leader Jack White won¹t rest. Pairing with
Kills vocalist Alison Mosshart, the analog champion¹s latest quartet plays
psychedelic blues and stark rock that¹s moody, atmospheric, and hypnotic. Tinged with swampy vibes and ominous emotions, this is a supergroup that lives up to the names and pedigrees of its impressive roster of members.

In addition to White and Mosshart, The Dead Weather brings together Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Dean Fertita and Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence. A veritable jack of all trades, White has turned his attention to the drums, leaving the guitar fireworks to Fertita. Most importantly, the quartet's iniitial batch of songs leaves nothing to be desired.

Steeped in mythology, dripping with trashy promise, and soaked in an aptly humid atmospherics, Horehound is a modern marvel--a full-band effort that pools the best of White's other bands into an utterly distinctive whole. The push-pull interplay between White and Mosshart is alone worth exploring; such tension, drive, and edginess inform the proceedings, which span funk, sleazy blues, greasy boogies, and fuzz-drenched rock. Call it an update on not only blues' traditions but those of film noir, where White is ensared by Mosshart's femme-fatale allure and the band plays the soundtrack while the devil marches in and takes control.

Recorded in just three weeks at White's newly constructed Nashville studio, Horehound has the sonics to match the excellent tunesmithship. Quickly becoming renown as one of the most analog-minded producers around, White worked to capture every nuance, texture, and note on this richly detailed album, which like the White Stripes' work, was intended to be heard on vinyl. Fertita's organ work and Lawrence's melodically distorted bass lines are not only heard but felt as they contribute to an ambience that's at once haunted and mesmerizing. You will not be disappointed at the results.

Maybe the guy keeps such an insane work schedule because he's afraid idle hands are the devil's workshop. So while Meg White prepares to become Patti Smith's daughter-in-law, Jack keeps busy with this brilliant new band, tangling with Alison Mosshart of the Kills for an excellent album of sex sweat, bourbon breath, gun smoke and guitar sleaze. Advantage: devil! --Rob Sheffield, Rolling Stone, July 13, 2009

Bad Moms is a 2016 American black comedy film directed and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover). The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Hernandez, Annie Mumolo, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Christina Applegate.

Bad Moms won a People's Choice award for Best Comedy. The film premiered on July 19, 2016, and grossed over $179 million in less than a year and became a surprising blockbuster movie.

Amy (Mila Kunis) has a seemingly perfect life - a great marriage, over-achieving kids, beautiful home and a career. However, she's over-worked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she's about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities, going on a wild, un-mom-like binge of long overdue freedom, fun, and self-indulgence - putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.

A sequel (A Bad Mom's Christmas) and spin-off (Bad Dads) are scheduled for later this year.

The soundtrack includes well-known songs and artists like DNCE, KT Tunstall, Janelle MonaÉ, Foreigner, Walk The Moon, Icona Pop feat Charli XCX and many more. Christopher Lennertz (Medal of Honor, Sausage Party, Smurfs: The Lost Village) composed the score music.

    The Lost Cause Ministrels

Grayson Capps' fifth studio album, The Lost Cause Minstrels, finds the Mobile, Alabama-based singer/songwriter coming of age. That doesn't mean his oft-unholy tales of the Southern Gothic have lost any of their luster. Quite the contrary, Capps' Tao-tinged philosophical musings revealed inside songs shuddering with spit, stomp and snarl are as potent as ever.

Look no further than Highway 42, No Definitions and Rock N Roll to hear that Capps cedes no quarter. It's just that this time his bark and his bite is older, wiser and more accepting of the unanswered questions mucking up the universe. Occasionally, even a celebratory mood can prevail like the horn-fueled romp Ol' Slac, an ode to the rebirth of the Mobile, Alabama Mardi Gras, or Coconut Moonshine, a character sketch based on Mr. Jim who inhabits the hallowed roadside barbecue joint in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Two rare but classic American roots numbers are born again here, as well: Taj Mahal's country-blues paen Annie's Lover and Richard Rabbit Brown's jaunty Jane's Alley Blues, (the original recording preserved on Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music). In less metaphorical terms, Capps' real life situation has evolved and it's reflected in the album's spirit.

Capps co-produced The Lost Cause Minstrels with his longtime partner and revered engineer/producer 12:46:12 AM (Queens of the Stone Age, Dylan Leblanc, Sheryl Crow) and it results in a highly anticipated next chapter from one of the finest Southern troubadours in modern times.

    This Is PIL

Public Image Limited's new self-funded 12-track set, their first in 20 years, is entitled This Is PIL, and will be released on the band's own label PIL Official via Cargo UK Distribution. All the new material was recorded in the UK last year at Steve Winwood's studio in the Cotswolds.

John Lydon talks about This Is PIL: "Well, 12 songs, where do I begin? Everything and anything that attracts my attention.'One Drop' is about my early youth in Finsbury Park. Fantastic! Hello, we're all teenagers don't you forget it! At any age, stay young. 'Lollipop Opera' is basically a beautiful bunch of background noise and music to sum up Britain and all its wonderful ambidextrousness! 'The Room I Am In' well that's about drugs and council flats. And there's a tragedy that still continues. 'I Must Be Dreaming' Well, you know, I must be to put up with these governments.

Following on from their monumental live performance at BBC Radio 6 Birthday Celebrations at Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday March 16th which saw PIL include and baptize 2 new songs: Deeper Water and One Drop, PIL also played two very special shows at London's Heaven showcasing more tracks from the new album with The Times commenting "This was an evening of uncompromising art music, worthy of the total concentration of the audience."

The track One Drop has now also received airplay from BBC Radio 6, XFM and Absolute Radio. Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time PIL's music and vision earned them 5 UK Top 20 Singles and 5 UK Top 20 Albums. With a shifting line-up and unique sound former Sex Pistol frontman John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd in 1978, guiding the band from their debut album First Issue in 1978 through to 1992's That What Is Not, before a 17 year hiatus. John then resurrected PIL in 2009 playing live worldwide. Now after 20 years yet another new and unique chapter is set to unfold in the shape of new PIL material!

Lu Edmonds, multi-instrumentalist and former guitarist in The Damned joined PIL in 1986 recording and playing on the album Happy? and co-writing the album 9, adding yet another dimension to the PIL sound. Bruce Smith, former drummer in The Pop Group and The Slits became percussionist for PIL, also in 1986, playing and recording on the albums Happy? and 9. Scott Firth, bass player/multi instrumentalist has collaborated and played with a variety of top musicians and bands including Steve Winwood, John Martyn, and Elvis Costello.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays The Music Of Rush

Purple Pyramid Records, a division of Cleopatra Records, will release The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays The Music Of Rush on November 13. Nearly sixty musicians and thirty vocalists transform nine of Rush's greatest hits into even more intricate, soaring orchestral works.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra covers the best-known classics, from Working Man, the self-titled debut album track that launched Rush's career in the U.S. to Subdivisions from Signals, the album that proved electronic rock could reside in the top ten. The band's most successful record, Moving Pictures, is represented by rousing versions of Tom Sawyer and Red Barchetta. Special guest guitarists include Steve Rothery of Marillion on Working Man and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden on Red Barchetta. The Windrush Choir provides backing vocals and solos.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, formed in 1946 and based in London, has been called the nation's favorite orchestra. It has had internationally known maestros like Andre Previn and Louis Clark, and has toured the world. The RPO is a best-selling and adventurous recording entity as well. In 1969, it recorded a concerto for Deep Purple, composed by the band's organist Jon Lord. It earned a top ten U.S. single in 1982 with Hooked On Classics. Over the years, RPO has orchestrally arranged Pink Floyd, Oasis, Queen, R.E.M., Madonna and ABBA.

The orchestra was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, conducted by BAFTA Award-winning musician and composer Richard Harvey. Harvey performed with the prog rock group Gryphon and as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (specializing in mediaeval and Renaissance periods), worked with many folk and rock musicians such as Richard and Linda Thompson, Kate Bush and Sweet. He has toured and recorded with John Williams, and has performed and composed film/TV soundtracks for more than thirty years. The album was produced by James Graydon and Richard Cottle, who also arranged all the music.

Remastered By Smith In George's Mixing Room Using Marino's VMS 80 Lathe

200-Gram Vinyl Plated By Gary Salstrom And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings, The World's Finest Lp Maker!
