    This Is Acting

This Is Acting is the seventh studio album by Australian singer-songwriter, Sia, following up last year's #1 charting, critically-acclaimed, and gold-certified album, 1000 Forms Of Fear.

"Alive," the album's first single was written by Sia, Adele and Tobias Jesso, Jr. and was produced by Jesse Shatkin, who also co-wrote and co-produced Sia's massive four-time Grammy nominated "Chandelier.

An astonishingly creative and uncompromising performer, Sia is also a highly prolific hit maker and songwriter, having penned several hit singles over the last few years for others. She has crafted songs for pop icons including Rihanna ("Diamonds"), Katy Perry ("Double Rainbow"), Britney Spears ("Perfume"), Kelly Clarkson ("Invincible"), Carly Rae Jepsen (Making the Most of the Night), BeyoncÉ ("Pretty Hurts") and Celine Dion ("Love Me Back To Life"), and many more. Sia has also been the featured vocalist on some of the most massive hits she has written for others including "Titanium" with David Guetta, "Beautiful Pain" with Eminem, and "Wild Ones" with Flo Rida. Additionally, Sia was nominated for a Golden Globe last year for the song "Opportunity" from the 2014 adaptation of the Broadway musical "Annie."

People used to liken Sia to a fairy with broken wings.

If you've heard the delicate and jazzy vocals she provided for Zero 7, or the song 'Breathe Me' from her solo-album Color The Small One that was prominently featured in the Six Foot Under finale, you would immediately understand why.

But with We Are Born, Sia has made a pop-album of the highest standard. With songs like 'Clap Your Hands', it would appear that the masses are starting to notice her as well. On We Are Born Sia is upbeat without being too cotton-candy, her melodies floating along lyrics that are smart and to the point. Her rendition of Madonna's 'O Father' is poignant and might even be superior to the original.

Produced by Greg Kurstin (Lilly Allen, Little Boots) this is an accessible album that is difficult to listen to without a smile.

    Colour The Small One

Available For The First Time In The U.S.

Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sia's third album "Colour The Small One" opens with the sound of her writing - on overture to the soul-baring tracks that follow. What became her breakthrough album, featuring the hit "Breathe Me" is laden with electronically kissed chamber pop and emotionally raw lyrics, that create an atmosphere so intimate, it almost feels wrong to listen in. The seminal album is now available for the first time on vinyl in the U.S..

    Two Vines

Alt-electro pioneers Empire Of The Sun return with their third studio album, Two Vines, set for release via Astralwerks. With Two Vines, the Australian band invites listeners to enter the jungle paradise that marks the third remarkable age of the Empire Of The Sun. Through a waterfall of dreams, beyond the white light of an ice curtain lies a lush, green world where childlike innocence and ancient wisdom are one. The album's first single, "High & Low," offers a glimpse of this dreamlike kingdom.

"We always saw Empire as a movie," says Nicholas Littlemore, the co-pilot with Luke Steele of this fantastic vessel of electro-futurist sound and vision. "The whole concept was based around childhood fantasies; being in bed and staring at the posters on your wall, whether they were monster movies or outlandish rock stars or pieces of art. We always wanted to be one of those posters on a child's wall that had so much imagination locked into it, a kind of invitation that pushes you over the edge into dream world. With this record, it's time to take that next step."

Recorded in Hawaii and Los Angeles, Two Vines is co-produced by Empire Of The Sun and Peter Mayes (Sia, The Killers, Mika), alongside long-term collaborator, Donnie Sloan (Midnight To Monaco). It also sees the creative circle expanding with esteemed pianist/arranger Henry Hey and bassist Tim Lefebvre, from David Bowie's Blackstar band, featured heavily on the album. Factor in Wendy Melvoin from Prince's Revolution, as well as Fleetwood Mac's genius guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham, and the Empire's rainbow has never been so vast and colorful.

"Going to Hawaii to record was the best idea," says Luke Steele of sessions at Honolulu's Avex Studios - where Kanye West recorded 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. "That was the catalyst for me. I'd spend the morning surfing, then roll in and make music into the night."

    The Neon Demon Soundtrack

Two 180-Gram Vinyl - One Blue And One Green

Milan Records will release THE NEON DEMON - Original Motion Picture soundtrack. The album features the film's original score by Cliff Martinez (DRIVE, TV's THE KNICK), the original track "Waving Goodbye" performed by Sia, and two songs by Julian Winding ("Mine" performed by Sweet Tempest and "The Demon Dance"). The film is the third collaboration between Martinez and director Nicolas Winding Refn (DRIVE, ONLY GOD FORGIVES).

THE NEON DEMON is a story about an aspiring model, Jesse (played by Elle Fanning) who moved to Los Angeles to chase her dreams. Her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she does. The film also stars Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks and Jena Malone. This is the third Nicolas Winding Refn film Martinez has a part of, first with DRIVE and secondly with ONLY GOD FORGIVES marking it as another trifecta of perfection for the duo.

Perhaps it is because of his time in the punk scene that Cliff Martinez's approach to scoring is nontraditional. His scores tend towards being stark and sparse, utilizing a modern tonal palette to paint the backdrop for films that are often dark, psychological stories like PUMP UP THE VOLUME (1990), THE LIMEY (2009) WONDERLAND (2003), WICKER PARK (2004), and DRIVE (2011). Martinez has been nominated for a Grammy Award (Steven Soderbergh's TRAFFIC), a Cesar Award (Xavier Giannoli's A L'origine), and a Broadcast Film Critics Award (DRIVE).

    Fitz And The Tantrums

Fitz and The Tantrums' natural exuberance permeates their new self-titled album, which celebrates walking to the beat of your own drum.

Lead singer, Michael Fitzpatrick, says of the new record, We've always tried to push ourselves at every turn. For our third album, we continued to challenge ourselves, taking care not to write the same record again.

Turn It Up, Fitz exhorts at the top of album opener and first single HandClap. The horn-and-beats fueled track captures the exhilarating sense of promise - and danger - that a night out and a new romance hold. The staccato Complicated paints a relationship that's packed with both chemistry and conflict and bursts into an unexpected cheer. Echo and otherworldly keyboards make Tricky an intoxicating dance-floor anthem and a warning to any future lover, while A Place For Us, the album closer, encapsulates the band's belief that there is a place in the world for each of us to belong, regardless of our differences.

Overall, this is an album about desire - the desire for intimacy, for sex, for acceptance on your own terms and the struggle not to compromise, explains Fitz.

Fitz and The Tantrums was recorded in the band's hometown of Los Angeles. Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Matt & Kim) produced eight of the album's eleven tracks. Fitz produced Fadeback while Joel Little (Lorde) produced Do What You Want and Ricky Reed (Jessie J) helmed HandClap.

BeyoncÉ is the fifth studio album by American recording artist BeyoncÉ.

The 14-song collection features Drunk In Love, a new collaboration with husband Jay Z; Mine, featuring Drake; Superpower, with her I Miss You collaborator Frank Ocean; and Blue, a song with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

Every song on the album has also been given a video, all of which are included as a DVD. Grown Woman, a promotional cut that Beyonce performed during her Mrs. Carter world tour this year, appears as a bonus video, but did not make the album's track list.

The collaborators on the album vary from the indie and unexpected (Chairlift's Caroline Polacheck co-wrote and produced the slinky No Angel, Sia wrote touching opener Pretty Hurts while a mysterious writer-producer credited as Boots is listed on half the album's tracks as a co-writer) to first-time collabs with Miguel (Rocket), Drake and Noah 40 Shebib (Mine), Hit-Boy (Bey Reel) and Frank Ocean (Superpower) to reunions with Ryan Tedder and The-Dream (XO), Justin Timberlake, Pharrell and Timbaland (Blow).

Directors featured on the music videos include Detail, Jake Nava, Hype Williams, Terry Richardson, Melina Matsoukas, Jonas Åkerlund, Ricky Saiz, Pierre Debusschere, @lilinternet, Francesco Carrozzini, Ed Burke, Bill Kirstein and Todd Tourso. Grown Woman, initially previewed via Pepsi's global spot with Beyonce in April, is featured as a bonus video-only cut, directed by Jake Nava.

    Truth Is A Beautiful Thing

Truth Is A Beautiful Thing is the stunning new album from acclaimed British trio London Grammar, and the follow-up to their debut album If You Wait, which has sold almost 2 million copies worldwide.

Truth Is A Beautiful Thing was written by Hannah Reid, Dominic 'Dot' Major, and Dan Rothman - who poured their experiences from 30 months on the road into the new material. The album features production from Oscar-winning songsmith Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine, Bloc Party), Mercury nominated Jon Hopkins (Coldplay, Brian Eno, King Creosote) and Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia, Beck), Tim Bran (La Roux, The Verve) and Roy Kerr (Birdy, James) who also worked on the band's debut, If You Wait.

    Foil Deer

Speedy Ortiz said they would get the flowers themselves. What a lark! What a plunge!

When considering Massachusetts' Speedy Ortiz, that line from Virginia Woolf comes to mind. Not only for the obvious echoes to DIY, a form and function that's characterized the band's nascency, but in the proto-feminist undertones driving much of their sophomore album, Foil Deer. "I'm not bossy, I'm the boss," Sadie Dupuis sings on "Raising the Skate," invoking in spirit one half of the Carter-Knowles clan and echoing the other's wordplay. And wordplay makes sense, considering Dupuis-the band's songwriter, guitarist, and frontwoman-spent the band's first few years teaching writing at UMass Amherst. She's drawn to the dense complexity of Pynchon, the dreamlike geometry of Bolaño, the confounded yearning of Plath-all attributes you could easily apply to the band's 2013 debut Major Arcana, which fans and press alike have invested with a sense of purpose and merit uncommon in contemporary guitar rock.

The group, including Mike Falcone on drums, Darl Ferm on bass, and new addition Devin McKnight of Grass is Green on guitar, have spent the last year on an almost endless cross-continental touring jag, tagging along with the likes of The Breeders, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, and Thurston Moore. That shift into full-time musicianship brought with it an attendant reordering of priorities when it came to songwriting, and the band members' lives in general. They would get the damn flowers themselves.

Dupuis wrote much of Foil Deer at her mother's home in the Connecticut woods, where the songwriter imposed a self-regulated exile and physical cleansing of sorts, finding that many of the songs came to her while running or swimming alone. "I gave up wasting mental energy on people who didn't have my back," she says. "Listening to our old records, I get the sense I was putting myself in horrible situations just to write sad songs. This music isn't coming from a dark place, and without slipping into self-empowerment jargon, it feels stronger." Many of the songs deal with a similar sense of starting over, editing out the unnecessary drama. "Boys be sensitive and girls be, be aggressive," she sings on "Mister Difficult."

And while their debut album was recorded on the fly, Speedy Ortiz spent almost a month in the studio on Foil Deer. Falcone's drums are taut, mechanistic; Ferm's bass ranges from the aggressive rattle of an AmRep classic to smoother, hip-hop inspired lines. McKnight, meanwhile, lends spacier, textural riffs to complement Dupuis' wiry, melody-driven guitar style. "The demos for our songs have always had tons of small details and production experimentation, but we never had any money to pay for more than a couple days in the studio, so the songs came out very live-sounding and guitar heavy," Dupuis says. It was recorded and mixed at Brooklyn's Rare Book Room with Nicolas Vernhes (Silver Jews, Enon, Deerhunter), with the record mastered by Emily Lazar (Sia, Haim, Beauty Pill), lending a more polished sound and a pop sensibility that will stand out to existing fans and new converts alike. For all the lyrical complexity and guitar-based excursions Speedy Ortiz have built their reputation on to this point, Foil Deer has a sense of light-footed fun. What's the point of doing things yourself if you're not going to enjoy the trip?

    Pollinator (Awaiting Repress)

You catch yourself when you ask Debbie Harry and Chris Stein,
one of the most captivating creative pairings in music ever, about the
creeping gentrification of New York City. You catch yourself because
Blondie was formed during a 1970s era of urban decay - a time when
the travails of being in a band, seeking an artistic outlet, or instigating a
scene as a means of existence was a survival of the fittest among streets
of heightened crime and social unrest. Certainly, those 1970s New
York streets have been glamourised in the onslaught of retrospective
looks at the punk, new wave, disco and hip-hop scenes that found their
fundamental roots in that era. But it certainly wasn't an easier time to
live there. The challenges and intensity of the city were just different.

Blondie emerged the fittest. They've outlived the groundbreaking moment
that birthed them and have adapted to time, space and industry
evolution as much as the face of New York itself. Walk into any dance
club tonight and hear a 'Call Me' or a 'Heart Of Glass'. Talk to
any hip-hop historian and recall that Debbie was an original Beastie
Boy who took rap music to the masses when it was still a block party
concern. Read any tome on the history of punk and they're interwoven
into the fabric of the one genre that still inspires most and every
band to pick a name and find a practice space. Their active presence
in our lives 40 million albums sales and countless accolades later
(including a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2006 and
NME Godlike Genius Award in 2014) isn't something anyone wants
    to take advantage of.

That's what their 11th album 'Pollinator' sets out to establish. In true
pop art fashion it's as post-modern as a concept gets and the perfect
way to move on from 2014's 40th anniversary celebrations and the
subsequent release of 'Ghosts Of Download'. In 'Pollinator' exists a
giant feedback loop - one in which Blondie created, then generations
were inspired, then those generation created and inspired, and are
now teaming up with Blondie. When the time came for Chris, Debbie
and drummer Clem Burke to "get the band back together" and make
an album, choice pioneers from the decades since Blondie's birth
were called upon to contribute songs for the record, thereby weaving
their own way into the living, breathing story of the band, a group that
directly affected their own genetic makeup. The list is enviable and
reflects the dynamism of Blondie's very own cross-pollinating past:
Johnny Marr, Sia, Dev Hynes, Charli XCX, Dave Sitek (TV On
The Radio), Nick Valensi (The Strokes) and The Gregory Brothers
all lent their creations for Blondie to interpret, each building upon the
aspect of their heroes that's bolstered their own sound.

    Simple Things (Out Of Stock)

Zero 7's ability to conjure beautiful lullabies with all the romance of 1960s French pop (as found on their debut LP, Simple Things) would have made them the toast of soundtrack composers and chill-out connoisseurs the world over. Unfortunately, two Frenchmen beat Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker to the title of masters of comedown cool, leaving the London duo to be forever called the British Air. And this is fair; the similarities between Zero 7's lush cinematic soundscapes and those of Air's Moon Safari and the Virgin Suicides score are so strong as to sound almost intentional. Nonetheless, their debut is a truly gorgeous album. It has all the tried and tested atmospheric tricks--bleeps and whooshes layered over plodding Fender Rhodes chords, swathes of strings and tender trumpet parps--but it's Binns and Hardaker's languid grooves and the soft melancholy of their melodies that make dream-state instrumentals Give It Away and Polaris utterly enchanting. The real power of Simple Things, however, is in its songs. As beautiful as the ambient strains are, when laid beneath the seductive vocals of Australian diva Sia on the ethereal Destiny or the heart-breaking Distractions, their potency becomes apparent. --Dan Gennoe
