    50th Anniversary Reissue

Features The New Stereo Mix On The First LP And An Alternative Version Of All 13 Tracks On The Second Vinyl Record, All Previously Unreleased

It was 50 years ago this June 1st when The Beatles' John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr astonished and delighted the world, ushering in the Summer of Love with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a groundbreaking masterwork that became popular music's most universally acclaimed album. To salute the occasion, The Beatles will release 'Sgt. Pepper' Anniversary Edition.

"It's crazy to think that 50 years later we are looking back on this project with such fondness and a little bit of amazement at how four guys, a great producer and his engineers could make such a lasting piece of art," says Paul McCartney.

"'Sgt. Pepper' seemed to capture the mood of that year, and it also allowed a lot of other people to kick off from there and to really go for it," Ringo Starr recalls.

The Anniversary Edition includes Martin's new stereo mix of the album, which was sourced directly from the original four-track session tapes and guided by the original, Beatles-preferred mono mix produced by his father, George Martin.

This expanded 180-gram 2LP vinyl package features the new stereo album mix on the first LP and adds a second LP with previously unreleased complete takes of the album's 13 songs, newly mixed in stereo and sequenced in the same order as the album.

The album's vibrant artwork, including its extravagant Pop Art cover which finds The Beatles surrounded by a crowd of heroes in a 3D collage, was created by Peter Blake and Jann Haworth in collaboration with the band. The original artwork is presented in a faithful reproduction of the album's original gatefold jacket.

"We hope you will enjoy the show"

Just as many ideas are sparked by chance, 'Sgt. Pepper' first sprang from a conversation between Paul and Beatles roadie Mal Evans on an airplane, when Mal's request to pass the salt and pepper was misheard by Paul as "Sgt. Pepper." The concept of who such a figure could be took root in Paul's mind, blooming with the imagination of The Beatles as an Edwardian era military band -- "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." The Beatles' creative wellspring for 'Sgt. Pepper' also flowed from such myriad sources as The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds album, a Victorian circus poster ("Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!"), a TV commercial for breakfast cereal ("Good Morning Good Morning"), a picture drawn by John's young son, Julian ("Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"), a teen runaway reported in the news ("She's Leaving Home'), and Hindu teachings ("Within You Without You").

"Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song"

Using the standard four-track tape recording equipment of the day, The Beatles collaborated with producer George Martin to achieve "the impossible," as they dubbed it, to go as far out as they could with arrangements and new technology to realize their collective vision for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. As George Martin described it, "We were into another kind of art form where you were putting something down on tape that could only be done on tape." The Beatles clocked more than 400 hours in Abbey Road's Studio 2 to record the album, wrapping sessions in April 1967.

"I read the news today oh boy"

Upon its release on June 1, 1967, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band initially spent 148 weeks in the British chart, including a total of 27 weeks at number one. During its first U.S. chart run, the album held the number one spot for 15 of the 88 weeks it appeared in the Top 200. 'Sgt. Pepper' won four GRAMMY Awards®, including Album of the Year, and it remains one of the most influential and bestselling albums of all time. In 2003, the U.S. Library of Congress selected 'Sgt. Pepper' for the National Recording Registry, recognizing the album as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." 'Sgt. Pepper' tops Rolling Stone magazine's definitive list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."

Previously Unreleased 1992 Documentary Film, 'The Making of Sgt. Pepper,' Restored for Anniversary Edition's Super Deluxe Boxed Set

Ranked 1/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time!

To salute the occasion, The Beatles will release a lavishly presented 'Sgt. Pepper' Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition Box Set (4 CD/1 DVD/1 Blu-ray). The album is newly mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell in stereo and 5.1 surround audio and expanded with early takes from the studio sessions, including no fewer than 34 previously unreleased recordings.

"It's crazy to think that 50 years later we are looking back on this project with such fondness and a little bit of amazement at how four guys, a great producer and his engineers could make such a lasting piece of art," says Paul McCartney in his newly-penned introduction for the 'Sgt. Pepper' Anniversary Edition.

"'Sgt. Pepper' seemed to capture the mood of that year, and it also allowed a lot of other people to kick off from there and to really go for it," Ringo Starr recalls in the Anniversary Edition's book.

The Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane," were among the first songs recorded during the 'Sgt. Pepper' sessions, which began in November 1966. Rather than being held for inclusion on the album, the two songs were released as a double A-sided single in February 1967. Amidst intense media speculation about the band's next move, the single bridged what was then considered a long gap between the Revolver album, released in August 1966, and 'Sgt. Pepper,' which followed 10 months later.

This is the first time Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has been remixed and presented with additional session recordings, and it is the first Beatles album to be remixed and expanded since the 2003 release of Let It Be Naked. To create the new stereo and 5.1 surround audio mixes for 'Sgt. Pepper,' producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell worked with an expert team of engineers and audio restoration specialists at Abbey Road Studios in London. All of the Anniversary Edition releases include Martin's new stereo mix of the album, which was sourced directly from the original four-track session tapes and guided by the original, Beatles-preferred mono mix produced by his father, George Martin.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition includes:

    • CD 1: New stereo album mix
    • CDs 2 & 3:

      - 33 additional recordings from the studio sessions, most previously unreleased and mixed for the first time from the four-track session tapes, sequenced in chronological order of their recording dates

      - A new stereo mix of "Penny Lane" and the 2015 stereo mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever"
    • CD 4:

      - Direct transfers of the album's original mono mix and the "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" singles

      - Capitol Records' U.S. promotional mono single mix of "Penny Lane"

      - Previously unreleased early mono mixes of "She's Leaving Home," "A Day In The Life," and "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" (a mix thought to have been erased from a tape in 1967, but discovered during archive research for the anniversary edition)
    • Discs 5 & 6 (Blu-ray and DVD):

      - New 5.1 surround audio mixes of the album and "Penny Lane" by Giles Martin and Sam Okell, plus their 2015 5.1 surround mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever"

      - High resolution audio versions of the new stereo mixes of the album and "Penny Lane" and of the 2015 stereo mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever"

      - Video features: 4K restored original promotional films for "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Penny Lane," and "A Day In The Life;" plus The Making of Sgt. Pepper, a restored, previously unreleased documentary film (broadcast in 1992), featuring insightful interviews with McCartney, Harrison, and Starr, and in-studio footage introduced by George Martin.

"A splendid time is guaranteed for all"

The album's vibrant artwork, including its extravagant Pop Art cover which finds The Beatles surrounded by a crowd of heroes in a 3D collage, was created by Peter Blake and Jann Haworth in collaboration with the band. The original artwork is showcased across the suite of Anniversary Edition releases, including the album's pull-out sheet of 'Sgt. Pepper' cutouts. Housed in a 12-inch by 12-inch box with lenticular artwork and two bonus posters, the six-disc Super Deluxe set is presented with a 144-page hardcover book. The book includes new introductions by Paul McCartney and Giles Martin, and chapters covering comprehensive song-by-song details and recording information, the design of the cover, the album's musical innovations and its historical context by Beatles historian, author and radio producer Kevin Howlett; composer and musicologist Howard Goodall; music producer and writer Joe Boyd; and journalists Ed Vulliamy and Jeff Slate, illustrated with rare photographs, reproductions of handwritten lyrics, Abbey Road Studios documentation, and original 'Sgt. Pepper' print ads.

    The Beatles Mono Box Set

Limited Edition 14-LP Box Set With Exclusive 108-Page Hardbound Book

The Beatles' Original Mono Studio Albums Remastered At Abbey Road Directly From The Analogue Masters For Vinyl Release By Sean Magee and Steve Berkowitz

Lacquers Cut Using Neumann VMS-80 Lathe

The Beatles in mono: This is how most listeners first heard the group in the 1960s, when mono was the predominant audio format. Up until 1968, each Beatles album was given a unique mono and stereo mix, but the group always regarded the mono as primary. The Beatles' nine U.K. albums, the American-compiled Magical Mystery Tour, and the Mono Masters collection of non-album tracks will be released in mono on 180-gram vinyl LPs with faithfully replicated artwork. Newly mastered from the analogue master tapes, each album will be available both individually and within a lavish, limited 14-LP boxed edition, The Beatles In Mono, which also includes a 108-page hardbound book.

In an audiophile-minded undertaking, The Beatles' acclaimed mono albums have been newly mastered for vinyl from quarter-inch master tapes at Abbey Road Studios by GRAMMY®-winning engineer Sean Magee and GRAMMY®-winning mastering supervisor Steve Berkowitz. While The Beatles In Mono CD boxed set released in 2009 was created from digital remasters, for this new vinyl project, Magee and Berkowitz cut the records without using any digital technology. Instead, they employed the same procedures used in the 1960s, guided by the original albums and by detailed transfer notes made by the original cutting engineers.
Working in the same room at Abbey Road where most of The Beatles' albums were initially cut, the pair first dedicated weeks to concentrated listening, fastidiously comparing the master tapes with first pressings of the mono records made in the 1960s. Using a rigorously tested Studer A80 machine to play back the precious tapes, the new vinyl was cut on a 1980s-era VMS80 lathe.

Manufactured for the world at Optimal Media in Germany, The Beatles' albums are presented in their original glory, both sonically and in their packaging. The boxed collection's exclusive 12-inch by 12-inch hardbound book features new essays and a detailed history of the mastering process by award-winning radio producer and author Kevin Howlett. The book is illustrated with many rare studio photos of The Beatles, fascinating archive documents, and articles and advertisements sourced from 1960s publications.

Via Michael Fremer (Analog Planet) on the mastering process:

The EQ applied was based upon the original cutting engineers' notes as well as careful listening to original first lacquer, first mother, first stamper EMI pressings (-1, 1, G matrix). The cartridge used was Ortofon's 2M Black.

It's important to remember that the tapes have aged-some as much as fifty years-and the monitoring, playback and mastering equipment have changed as well, even though the work was done in the very same room in which the originals were mastered. Solid state has replaced tubes in the cutting chain.

Lacquers were cut using Abbey Road Studios' Neumann VMS-80 lathe, equipped with a Neumann SX-74 cutter head. The originals were cut on a Scully lathe, perhaps with a Westrex cutter head.

On Anthology II the process of making records comes to the fore. The Beatles experimented on all levels making alternate takes of 'Tomorrow Never Knows,' 'I'm Only Sleeping,' 'I Am The Walrus' positively different. Take for example this clip of 'I'm Looking Through You' with rhythm track variations. It's like getting Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's all over again.

    Concrete And Gold

2x Vinyl With Etching On D-Side (No Music)

I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin's sense of melody and arrangement Motorhead's version of Sgt. Pepper or something like that. So speaks Dave Grohl of the mission statement made manifest in Foo Fighters' ninth epic, the aptly-titled Concrete and Gold, due out worldwide on Roswell Records / RCA Records. Concrete and Gold was written and performed by Foo Fighters, produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and mixed by Darrell Thorp.

    The Monkees In Mono

Their First Five #1 LP Masterworks In Stunning Monophonic Sound

Full Color Box LP Set & 5 Individual LP Covers With Original Art Restored

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Colgems Records Mono Tapes

61 Smash Hits Including: Last Train To Clarksville, I'm A Believer, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Daydream Believer, Valleri & (i'm Not Your) Stepping Stone

In September 1966, Micky Dolenz, Davy
Jones, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork debuted
as The Monkees on NBC's new Fall season lineup of shows. Overnight success would happen in
the form of a smash TV show, a #1 debut album
The Monkees and a #1 hit single Last Train To
Clarksville. The Monkees were now the face of
young people everywhere and they were here to
    stay.

Friday Music is no stranger to the amazing
recording career of The Monkees. As a tribute
to the band, the music and the memories, we are
very honored to announce the colossal audiophile
vinyl box set The Monkees In Mono. Mastered for
the first time for audiophile vinyl from the original
Colgems Records monophonic tapes by Joe
Reagoso (The Monkees), this super limited edition
deluxe box set features their first five
    mono albums: The Monkees, More
    Of The Monkees, Headquarters,
    Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones
Ltd., and The Birds, The Bees & The
Monkees, all in their restored individual stunning
LP covers, housed in a beautiful full color sturdy
    box.

All your favorite hits are included like Last
Train To Clarksville, I'm A Believer, Daydream
Believer, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Valleri, I Wanna
Be Free, (I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone, Randy
Scouse Git and 53 more, 61 tracks total.

The Monkees & More of The Monkees were
two of the most successful albums ever released in
classic rock history. The mono mixes are terrific
here as you will hear nuances and slightly different
    mixes than their stereo counterparts.

Headquarters will always be one of those
"must haves in mono" and now you have it .
This album started the Summer Of Love in 1967
and was the last album before Sgt Pepper by the
Beatles to be on the top of the charts, later The
Monkees replaced the Beatles again in the top
    spot with Pieces, Aquarius .

Both Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd.
& The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees are two of
the rarest mono albums from the band, as stereo
was the format of choice by 1968 and mono
albums were soon discontinued. We have now
gone back to the Colgems mono tapes and have
put these back in circulation on vinyl for the first
    time in 46 years!

A great way to celebrate the holidays this year
for your favorite Monkees fans, The Monkees In
Mono is in strictly limited edition and will become
one of the most important overviews of this band
    ever released.

Exclusively from your friends at Friday Music!

    Curtis

Curtis is the debut album by American soul/funk artist Curtis Mayfield, released in September 1970. Produced by Mayfield, it was released on his own label Curtom Records. The musical styles of Curtis moved further away from the pop-soul sounds of Mayfield's previous group The Impressions and featured more of a funk and psychedelia inspired sound. The album's subject matter incorporates political and social concerns of the time.

Curtis sold well at the time charting at number one on the Billboard Black albums (for five nonconsecutive weeks) and number nineteen on the Billboard Pop albums charts. Only the single (Don't Worry) If There's a Hell Below, We're All Going to Go charted. Curtis receives very high praise from modern day critics with Bruce Eder of Allmusic commenting that the record is ...practically the Sgt. Pepper's album of '70s soul...

    The Beatles 1962-1966

All Analogue Master From The Original Master Tapes

Assembling a compilation of the Beatles is a difficult task, not only because they had an enormous number of hits, but also because singles didn't tell the full story; many of their album tracks were as important as the singles, if not more so. The double-album 1962-1966, commonly called The Red Album, does the job surprisingly well, hitting most of the group's major early hits and adding important album tracks like You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, and In My Life. Naturally, there are many great songs missing from the 26-track 1962-1966, and perhaps it would have made more sense to include the Revolver cuts on its companion volume, 1967-1970, yet The Red Album captures the essence of the Beatles' pre-Sgt. Pepper records.

    Hendrix In The West

Very often, at the beginning of a show, Jimi Hendrix would ask his audience to forget about what happened yesterday or today and start their own world right here.
For this special new edition of the 1971 live-album Music On Vinyl asks you to do the same.

In The West consists of live recordings from the two incarnations of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, including his legendary Isle Of Wight Festival performance in 1970, where he created a live medley of 'God Save The Queen' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' with a stunned Paul McCartney in the audience.

To Jimi, concerts were snapshots of where the band was at that moment in time, and Electric Ladyland director of engineering Eddie Kramer (and producer of most of Jimi's posthumous live albums) must have realized that this was when The Experience was at its peak.

In The West was the first live album to be released after Jimi's untimely death.

Forty years later, Music On Vinyl is re-releasing it with a number of beautiful extra's: three bonus tracks that have never been released before, along with a booklet of unpublished photographs by Jim Marshall, who was also responsible for the iconic cover artwork.

    From The Original Master Tapes

Faithful Reproduction Of The Original Artwork

    Mono

Sgt. Pepper taught a lot of bands to play in 1967, including New York's Paper Garden, whose absorption of the Fab Four's Summer of Love statement came out on Musicor Records the following year. What Paper Garden can't match in terms of the Beatles' sophistication they make up for in ambition, as exhibited on the harpsichord-enhanced pop genius of "Lady's Man," orchestrated gems like "Way Up High," the fuzz-pop-psych of "I Hide," and Eastern grooves on "Man Do You" and "Raining." With influences of the early Bee Gees and Brill Building pop also shading the proceedings, the album's kaleidoscopic essence permeates every note - right down to the ultra-cool color-burst cover likely drawn under a pseudonym by Australian artist Martin Sharp of Disraeli Gears fame. That brilliant art can be viewed again in its full-size glory on this beautiful RTI 180 gram vinyl edition, mastered from the original Musicor reels by Bob Irwin.

A team consisting of some of the best producers and engineers in the recording industry were brought together and would spend 4 long years mixing and mastering with some of the most state of the art recording equipment. treating these records much like a science experiment, engineers ran extensive tests before copying the analog master tapes over into a digital format using 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and carefully removing clicks, vocal pops and poor edits. Never altering the original songs them selves, just polishing them up a bit.

    A Lovely Sight (Awaiting Repress)

By the late '60s, radio-delivered psychedelia had saturated even the heartland. A Lovely Sight, Pisces' only attempt at an LP, never made wax; but the fuzz guitar phrases and tambourine shuffle of Dear One instantly illustrate the band's woozy realm. Deeper inside, bass scales borrowed from Sgt. Pepper give way to Who moves wrecked by bad fidelity and harsh intrusions of found audio. Jefferson Airplane's swirled, lysergic Haight Street utopia melds with the urban narcosis of the Velvet Underground's East Village. But Pisces hailed from another ghost town altogether: Rockford, Illinois, where rusted, endless plains bear close resemblance to a bummer acid trip or a junkie's rock bottom. In 1969, the industrial Midwest was hurting for the hard stuff, but what it got was plenty of the White Album, enough to have Jim Krein, Paul DiVenti, and Linda Bruner recording through a glass onion all their own. The unsettling balance of their unissued LP combines homespun psychedelic vision and secondhand studio trickery with naive readings of the rock sound of the day, resulting in a diverse, haunted rock headspace few coastal bands ever flew through, let alone over.

    David Bowie

    Import

David Bowie's eponymously-titled 1967 debut bears little resemblance to the music he found fame with later in his career as it's influences drew more on theater, music hall and vaudeville. Released in the same year as The Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, David Bowie is a distinct reflection of mid-'60s London with whimsical narratives and biting wit, an early sound from an artist that would hang his hat on the ability to embrace and usher in change.

    Please Please Me

Ranked 39/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Sourced From the Original Master Tapes!

    Cut at Abbey Road Studios

    Pressed on 180 gram vinyl

Once Please Please Me rocketed to number one, The Beatles rushed to deliver a debut album, bashing out Please Please Me in a day. Decades after its release, the album still sounds fresh, precisely because of its intense origins.

Please Please Me hit the top of the UK album charts in May 1963 and remained there for thirty weeks before being replaced by With The Beatles. This was surprising because the UK album charts at the time tended to be dominated by film soundtracks and easy listening vocalists.

In 2012, Please Please Me was voted 39th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. It was ranked first among The Beatles' early albums, and sixth of all of The Beatles' albums, with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver, Rubber Soul, The Beatles (The White Album) and Abbey Road ranked higher.

Rolling Stone also placed two songs from the album on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time: No. 139, I Saw Her Standing There, and No. 184, Please Please Me. According to Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic, Decades after its release, the album still sounds fresh, the covers are impressive and the originals astonishing.

Never altering the original songs themselves, just polishing them up a bit.

    Hendrix In The West

Out of Print Since 1974, Live Classic is Fully Restored and Includes Five Previously Unavailable Bonus Tracks

Collection of 1969-1970 Performances Contains Definitive Renditions of Red House and Johnny B. Goode

Legacy's Archival Restoration of Hendrix Catalog Continues: Uncork the Guitarist's Magic With This Splendid-Sounding Analog Pressing

Includes Lavish Booklet Filled With Rare and Previously Unseen Photography from Legend Jim Marshall.

Legacy's unprecedented archival restoration of Jimi Hendrix's catalog continues with more treasures. Consisting of live material recorded at venues ranging from the Berkeley Community Theatre and the San Diego Sports Arena to the Isle of Wight Festival, Hendrix In The West captures the guitarist exploring new directions in sound during 1969-70. Robert Christgau, the Dean of American Rock Critics, called Hendrix's versions of Red House and Johnny B. Goode on this album definitive.

Out of print in the US since 1974 and for more than two decades internationally, Hendrix In The West has remained one of the most requested albums by fans to return to the commercial marketplace. Mastered from the original sources and pressed on high-quality 180 gram vinyl, and up to the same stellar standards as Legacy's reissues of Hendrix's groundbreaking studio efforts, the record has never sounded or looked better.

The album's iconic cover features a classic Jim Marshall photograph of the guitarist, while a lavish booklet is filled with rare and previously unseen images captured by Marshall's distinctive lens. Moreover, listeners get to discover five previously unavailable bonus tracks that, believe it or not, add on to Hendrix's considerable legacy. In addition to the Chuck Berry cover, Hendrix also re-imagines the Beatles (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) and Carl Perkins (Blue Suede Shoes).

    The Beatles 1967-1970

All Analogue Master From The Original Master Tapes

Picking up where 1962-1966 left off, the double-album compilation 1967-1970, commonly called The Blue Album, covers the Beatles' later records, from Sgt. Pepper's through Let It Be. Like The Red Album, The Blue Album was released in the wake of a pair of widely advertised quadruple-LP bootlegs, Alpha Omega, Vols. 1-2: The Story of the Beatles, which had appeared early in 1973. And like its companion volume, this set contains a mixture of hits, including singles like Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, and Revolution -- which had originally appeared only as 45s -- plus important album tracks like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, A Day in the Life, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Come Together, as well as orphaned tracks such as the single versions of Let It Be and Get Back, which had never been on any LP before. The first two sides of the original double-LP edition carry listeners through the highlights of the psychedelic era, starting with Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane and up through Magical Mystery Tour, before returning to rock & roll territory on Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, and Revolution. The second LP skims three of the more popular tracks off of the sprawling White Album (aka The Beatles) and moves into the late singles (The Ballad of John and Yoko, Old Brown Shoe, Let It Be), plus single and album highlights from Abbey Road and Let It Be. As a prÉcis of the group's final 36 months, it's all mightily impressive, even if 1967-1970 misses several great songs. But like its predecessor, this set does capture the essence (if not the full range) of the Beatles' later recordings.

    Eldorado

This is the album where Jeff Lynne finally found the sound he'd wanted since co-founding Electric Light Orchestra three years earlier. Up to this point, most of the group's music had been self-contained -- Lynne, Richard Tandy, providing whatever was needed, vocally or instrumentally, even if it meant overdubbing their work layer upon layer. Lynne saw the limitations of this process, however, and opted for the presence of an orchestra -- it was only 30 pieces, but the result was a much richer musical palette than the group had ever had to work with, and their most ambitious and successful record up to that time. Indeed, Eldorado was strongly reminiscent in some ways of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Not that it could ever have the same impact or be as distinctive, but it had its feet planted in so many richly melodic and varied musical traditions, yet made it all work in a rock context, that it did recall the Beatles classic.

It was a very romantic work, especially on the opening Eldorado Overture, which was steeped in a wistful 1920s/1930s notion of popular fantasy (embodied in movies and novels like James Hilton's Lost Horizon and Somerset Maugham's The Razor's Edge) about disillusioned seekers. It boasted Lynne's best single up to that time, Can't Get It Out of My Head, which most radio listeners could never get out of their respective heads, either. The integration of the orchestra would become even more thorough on future albums, but Eldorado was notable for mixing the band and orchestra (and a choir) in ways that did no violence to the best elements of both.

A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. Analogue Productions presents the ultimate pressings of 14 essential Beach Boys albums! Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority! Presented in old school Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals!

First mixed and released in stereo for the first time in 2012. These stereo mixes were created using the first generation basic tracking session multitracks, synced with the overdubs that were later added on second and third generation masters, to create the first true stereo mixes. The exception is Good Vibrations, which is a computer-generated stereo mix by Derry Fitzgerald. A remix in stereo wasn't possible because the original multi-track tape has never been located. The stereo mixes for Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), Beach Boys' Party! and Smiley Smile were produced and mixed by Mark Linett, and co-produced by Alan Boyd.

All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums (The Beach Boys Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), The Beach Boys' Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile) were all done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys.

After the much-discussed, uncompleted Smile project - which was supposed to take the innovations of Pet Sounds to even grander heights - collapsed, the Beach Boys released Smiley Smile in its place. (To clarify much confusion: Smiley Smile is an entirely different piece of work than Smile would have been, although some material that ended up on Smiley Smile would have most likely been used on Smile. Also, much of Smiley Smile was in fact recorded after the Smile sessions had ceased.), writes AllMusic.com

For fans expecting something along the lines of Sgt. Pepper (and there were many of them), Smiley Smile was a major disappointment, replacing psychedelic experimentation with spare, eccentric miniatures. Heard now, outside of such unrealistic expectations, it's a rather nifty, if rather slight, effort that's avant garde in the extreme. 'Wind Chimes,' 'Wonderful,' 'Vegetables,' and much of the rest is low-key psychedelic quirkiness, with abundant fine harmonies and unusual arrangements. The standouts, nonetheless, were two recent hit singles in which Brian Wilson's ambitions were still intact: The inscrutable mini-opera 'Heroes and Villains,' and the number one hit 'Good Vibrations,' one of the few occasions where the group managed to be recklessly experimental and massively commercial at the same time. - AllMusic.com

To meet the standards of Analogue Productions, our Beach Boys album reissues had a mission to achieve: Present the band's music the way that Brian Wilson - famed co-founder, songwriter and arranger - intended. Mono mixes created under Wilson's supervision were how the surf rockin' California crew rose to fame! And we've got 'em!

For the early part of the Beach Boys' career, all of their singles were mixed and mastered and released only in the mono format - they didn't release a single in stereo until 1968. In those days, hits were made on AM radio in mono. And the mono of those times worked well for Brian Wilson - famed co-founder, songwriter and arranger - who suffers from partial deafness. In fact, for their first 13 albums, Wilson originally turned in all the final mixed Beach Boy albums to Capitol Records only in mono. The mono mixes were where Wilson paid intense attention, and the dedication paid off!

We've taken 10 of the most classic, best-sounding Beach Boy titles ever and restored them to their mono glory!

But there's no disputing that the close harmonies and one-of-a-kind rhythms of hits like "Surfer Girl," "In My Room," "Little Deuce Coupe" and more lend themselves naturally to stereo. So we've got your 2-channel needs covered with prime stereo mix versions as well.

Highway 61 Revisited on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram 45RPM 2LP from Mobile Fidelity

Dylan's First Entirely Rock-Backed Album Marks Sea Change in Sound and Potential of Popular Music

Ranked #4 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time List

Album-Opening Like a Rolling Stone Challenging, Bold, Revolutionary-And Arguably the Best Rock Song Ever Recorded

Widescreen Sonics: Brilliant Collision of Evocative Poetry, Swirling Roots-Based Soul, and Hard-Driving Blues Sounds Incredible on MoFi 45RPM Pressing

1965 Set Also Includes Ballad of a Thin Man, Desolation Row, and Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues

Its title references the road that spans North Minnesota to the Mississippi Delta, and the formative blues, country, and roots sounds connected to its existence. The highway also lays claim to towering musical myths and deaths, many tied to the blues lexicon and narrative. All figure prominently on the revolutionary beacon that is Highway 61 Revisited, the 1965 set that overturned rules, upended preexisting limits, and utterly changed everything in its path. Ranked the fourth-greatest album ever made by Rolling Stone, its reach, power, and content boggle the mind nearly five decades after its release.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, this restored 45RPM analog version presents the life-altering music in reference-quality sound-so much so that the record's famous first lightning-strike note is now indeed the "snare shot that sound[s] like somebody'd kicked open the door to your mind," as once described by Bruce Springsteen.

Teeming with organic energy, palpable voltage, and countless textures, the LP faithfully recreates the dimensions, vibes, and events associated with the six days Dylan and Co. spent at Columbia's Studio A. Everything from the soundstages to dynamics, instrumental separation to balances, resonates with enormous might and insightful perspective. Wider grooves mean more information reaches your ears.

Recorded amidst a time of unfathomable turmoil and frustration that witnessed Dylan booed by fans, labeled a traitor, and call into question his work, Highway 61 Revisited roars and snarls, jabs and criticizes. Its bonfire of cynicism, fury, indignation, and absurdity forever transformed rock, what it could mean, and what it could do. Supported by a thundering, commanding band that included guitarist Mike Bloomfield and organist Al Kooper, Dylan hopscotches between tempos, moods, and melodies. The symmetry of the songs references a scattered hybrid of R&B, blues, folk, soul, gospel, vaudeville, and garage rock pieces that Dylan assembles in the shape of a brilliant, mind-teasing aural puzzle.

Outside of "Like a Rolling Stone"-the six-minute-plus anthem that both challenged and chewed up all preconceived notions of an acceptable radio single by way of its length, ambition, and vitriol-every tune was captured shortly after Dylan's contentious performance at the Newport Folk Festival. The lingering impact of the hostility comes through in both the searing music and rich, literate, zinging poetry. Dylan's sneering tones, raucous arrangements, and unmistakable resentment toward both the establishment and counterculture that adopted him, and assume the form of songs such as "Ballad of a Thin Man," "Queen Jane Approximately," "Tombstone Blues," and the stupefying "Desolation Row."

At its core, Highway 61 Revisited is about experience, reality, and the cruelties and truths that lie outside soporific safety nets and bourgeois ideals. These reasons-and the bold musicianship, ace performances, inimitable sonics, and vast lyrical expanses-are why the album means as much today as it did in the mid-1960s. Akin to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Dark Side of the Moon, this is an album that everyone needs to own and hear in the best-possible fidelity.

The Original Instrumental Backing Tracks To Their Most Celebrated Album

    First Time Authorized Alternate Artwork

Yes... The Monkees Could Play Guitars, Bass, Drums, Piano, Steel Guitar, Organ, Banjo, Tambourine, Percussion..... and Play Them Well!!!

In 1967 after two number one albums, a plethora of hit singles and a smash television show, The Monkees were on top and knew they each had true musical talents not championed by their label executives. Michael Nesmith spearheaded a change in direction before sessions began on their legendary Headquarters album. This action resulted in the much-covered dissolution with music mogul Don Kirshner, as Chip Douglas (The Turtles) was now recruited by Nesmith to work with the band.

In rapid succession, things began to fall into place in February 1967. With initial tracks like country rocker Sunny Girlfriend, the band set the stage for what would become one of the most loved works in their catalog and one of the finest rock albums of a generation. A definite album opener, You Told Me begins Headquarters. The track features a brilliant 12 string guitar of Nesmith, as Tork's incredible banjo fills the track alongside Dolenz's driving drum work. With Jones' percussion, it became the very first song that many of us remember as we opened up our new copies back in the summer of '67. Not straying too far from previous success, the band scored a few more of Boyce and Hart compositions like Micky Dolenz's folk rock ballad I'll Spend My Life With You. The solid steel guitar work of Mike Nesmith became somewhat of a precursor to his groundbreaking Nashville sessions in the late sixties. Davy Jones has several watershed moments here with both Forget That Girl and Early Morning Blues and Greens Forget That Girl employs a unique English northern soul vibe, while the latter shares a wonderful rhythm presentation making it one of the more psychedelic infused and standout tracks on the LP. Michael Nesmith's handiwork is radiant on the entire album. You May Just Be The One rocks the album into full gear and makes it one of his and the bands' definitive landmark tracks. Headquarters also brought rightful acclaim to Peter Tork, as his first recorded Monkees' song For Pete's Sake soon became a prolific standard. The song transcended with the times and became one of the more insightful tunes from the quartet. It also replaced the familiar Monkees Theme at the end of season two, giving the song more TV exposure over the years. And as always, you can count on Micky Dolenz to deliver - whether it's his hard rock driving drum work on rockers like Randy Scouse Git & No Time, or his prog-rock feel on Mr. Webster, the album was definitely a great showcase for the artist.

The Monkees' Headquarters was one of 4 albums of The Monkees that topped the charts in 1967. This fact alone is enough to warrant the importance of this album in musical history. But there are other amazing feats that Headquarters managed to deliver to millions of fans on its eventful release back in May of 1967. The album hit the stores before Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles. Friendly rivals as they were, Headquarters rose to number one and also opened the door to The Summer of Love. It remained in the upper rung of the retail charts until their fourth platter Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. became a number one album to close out the year. Wow! Most notably, Headquarters showed the real world the transition of four talented guys on a hit TV show evolving into a self-produced, self-reliant, and one of the most loved bands in musical history, and yes, they could actually play their instruments .and they did it well!

As another installment in our extensive Monkees catalog, Friday Music is pleased to announce a unique revisit to their third masterwork as we've now gone back to the original backing tracks and have assembled a fun and exciting instrumental Lp with The Monkees Headquarters Stack-O-Tracks. For this limited edition Friday Music release, we are pleased to offer for the first time on vinyl, the rare backing instrumental backing tracks, newly and impeccably mastered by Joe Reagoso (The Monkees/Brian Wilson) from the original Colgems Records masterwork.

Joe Reagoso notes You've never heard 'Shades Of Gray' until you hear the strings up front like you will on this new vinyl release. Michael Nesmith's work on 'You May Just Be The One' is beyond thrilling, you feel like you are in the studio with the band as they knock out this and other Monkees classics. From beginning to end, song after song, we always knew how special Headquarter was, and now this further showcases the artistry and musical acumen each man brought to the sessions. Truly a crowning achievement. To further enhance your Monkees listening enjoyment, we are also pressing the limited edition album on clear 180 Gram audiophile vinyl, as well as including a revisit to the original album cover artwork, now with the rare Monkees beard photo not issued on vinyl in many years, and first time authorized colorization effects to the original artwork to celebrate fifty years of this classic rock album for the fans. 1967 ..The Summer Of Love A very hip time in our American culture you can now relive with these newly impeccably mastered recordings from the much-loved band that broke a lot of ground in a very short time and made the world a much better place for it The Monkees Headquarters Stack-O- Tracks Only From Your Friends At Friday Music!

Highway 61 Revisited on Numbered Limited Edition Mono 180 Gram 45RPM 2LP from Mobile Fidelity

Brilliant Collision of Evocative Poetry, Swirling Roots-Based Soul, and Hard-Driving Blues Sounds Incredible in Mono on Mobile Fidelity Vinyl: 2LP Set Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies

Ranked the fourth-greatest album ever made by Rolling Stone, its reach, power, and content boggle the mind more than five decades after its release.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3,000 copies, this restored analog mono version presents the life-altering music in reference-quality sound - so much so that the record's famous first lightning-strike note is now indeed the snare shot that sound[s] like somebody'd kicked open the door to your mind, as once described by Bruce Springsteen.

Teeming with organic energy, palpable voltage, and countless textures, Mobile Fidelity's mono 2LP set faithfully recreates the instrumentation, moods, and events associated with the six days Dylan and Co. spent at Columbia's Studio A. While many people experienced Highway 61 Revisited in stereo even at the time of its release, hearing it in mono reveals even more definition, focus, and liveliness. In particular, Dylan's voice is surrounded by more space and atmosphere, and its forefront position makes the lyrics that much more powerful. This is the way everyone would've been introduced to Like a Rolling Stone on AM radio. There's no substitute for such authenticity.
