Spiral ScratchLimited (500 In North America) Reissue Of One Of Punk's Most Seminal Releases - The Seven Inches Of Vinyl That Kick-Started D.I.Y Culture!
Authentic Recreation Of The 1977 Original - Comes In Printed Paper Sleeve With Polygram-Style Outer Flap Construction And Recessed Edge, Housed Inside A Plastic Protective Sleeve
In 1976, a long, long time before the inter-connected world we live in now, and a million miles from crafted marketing campaigns and feasibility studies, four awkward lads living in the isolation of industrial North West England created the most important record of the punk explosion. Indeed, ever. What they did would touch the rest of the world in ways that they or anyone else could never have imagined.
Set against the backdrop of the long hot summer of 1976, when the biggest selling record of the year was Brotherhood Of Man's 'Save All Your Kisses For Me', newly-formed Buzzcocks find no favour with the London-based music industry, so lead singer Howard Devoto and guitarist Pete Shelley chance upon the previously unheard of idea of 'fuck it, let's put a record out ourselves'. The band, having no record label support, beg and borrow to pay for the studio time and for 1000 copies to be pressed. Recorded in Manchester's Indigo Sound Studio just after Christmas during downtime to save money, manufactured and hand-assembled in January of the New Year, the four tracks were laid down in three hours flat with two more hours to mix them. Job done. 1-2-3-4.
On the 29th of January 1977, just as "Spiral Scratch" is released on the bands' own freshly conceived New Hormones label, announcing punk's rebellion against the status quo, Howard Devoto informs Pete, and fellow band mates Steve Diggle (bass) and John Maher (drums) - with typical punk chaos and with sweet disregard for any cohesive business strategy - that he's quitting the band to form another, Magazine. The Clash had yet to record their first single.
"Spiral Scratch" is testament to the power of punk's possibilities and is an object lesson in how to debunk and demystify any hurdles presented by the establishment. The impact of this incredible seven inches of vinyl that kickstarted D.I.Y. culture goes on and on, and on, and on, and on1. Breakdown

Scratch My Back...And I'll Scratch YoursGatefold sleeve
Rather than make a traditional covers record, I thought it would be much more fun to create a new type of project in which artists communicated with each other and swapped a song for a song, i.e. you do one of mine and I'll do one of yours, hence the title - Scratch My Back - And I'll Scratch Yours. Peter Gabriel
Scratch My Back And I'll Scratch Yours is a series of song exchanges in which Gabriel and other leading artists reinterpret each other's songs. The first half of this double album, titled Scratch My Back, was originally released in 2010. Gabriel covers work by seasoned superstars like David Bowie, Paul Simon and Lou Reed, but he also took on marvelous interpretations of work by younger acts like Arcade Fire, Bon Iver and Radiohead. In 2013, most of these artists returned the favour on And I'll Scratch Yours.
The reciprocating artists opted for differing approaches to Peter's songs. A few chose to radically reinterpret the original material, in the process leaving it barely recognisable - Lou Reed's snarling Solsbury Hill or the frighteningly futuristic version of Mother Of Violence by Brian Eno, co-writer of David Bowie's Heroes covered by Gabriel on Scratch My Back. Other contributors include Arcade Fire (Games Without Frontiers), Elbow (Mercy Street) and Regina Spektor (Blood Of Eden).LP1

The Return Of Sound System ScratchSpecial one-off dub plate mixes and super rare 45s you can't find anywhere else. 'Long Enough' features Candy Mackenzie on lead vocal to stunning effect, a track as soulful as anything ever recorded at the Black Ark. Candy was part of the Full Experience vocal group that worked on many Lee Perry sessions. There is a fantastic unreleased melodica version of Junior Murvins' Strong Drink, and although we can't be 100% sure, it's probably Augustus Pablo blowing melodica over the top. Live At Third Man RecordsPerformance Recorded Direct-To-Acetate On March 26, 2016, At Third Man Nashville's Blue Room Venue
It's no stretch to say that Carla Azar is one of America's greatest living drummers. Intuitive, skilled, and perched quite comfortably on the extremely thin line between high energy and total entropy. All too often the title is heaped upon some goofball doing blast beats, rambling about breakdowns and power violence, all can easily be mistaken for the sounds of a scratched CD. Lucky for us and lucky for every pair of ears the whole world over, Third Man doesn't buy into that nonsense. And CDs? Scratched or brand spankin' new, they're not our preferred medium.
Hailing from Los Angeles, Autolux is comprised of singer/bassist Eugene Goreshter, drummer Azar, and guitarist/keyboardist Greg Edwards. The band formed in 2000 and has released two EPs and three LPs, including Pussy's Dead in 2016, shortly before this epic live show was recorded in the Third Man Blue Room. Their sound is peculiar and unmistakable, a collision of post-punk, noise, pop and electronica (Organica? Maybe!). Think cyborg whistling glitch-hop mash-ups. You get it? Haha! Nice!
Live records speak for themselves. This record speaks for itself. If you need us to say anything further, we're gonna need you to set this sheet down, free up both hands, use one to call your mom, keep her on the line, and use the other to hold her hand while she walks you toward the record bin housing something ''on your level,'' because apparently live music ain't your thing. But if you're still reading, it's because you clearly get it. Now go grip this record and see what the fuss is all about.1. Soft Scene

Hands down, the best record cleaner on the market. Levi E.
The GrooveWasher Record Cleaning Kit includes:
- Hand painted poplar wood handle in Red Hot Red or South Beach Green -OR- Solid Milled American Black Walnut handle* with hand rubbed oil polyurethane finish
- One All Purpose Cleaning Pad (Red Base)--with velcro on the base to secure the pad to the handle and allow easy removal for cleaning or replacement.
- One 2 oz bottle of G2 Fluid with mist spray applicator.
- Record label protector mask
- GrooveWasher Record Cleaning Booklet
*The GrooveWasher Starter Kit handle is milled from a single piece of American poplar wood, hand painted with oil enamel. We designed the handle shape to be easy to grip while cleaning your records. Hand crafted in our plant in North Kansas City, MO, USA.
The GrooveWasher G2 Fluid is the result of years of research and testing. The selection of ingredients was guided by the formulations of the D series fluids of the 1970s. G2 Fluid is designed for maximum cleaning effectiveness of the delicate vinyl surface and microgroove. Anti-static action on contact. Honest cleaning to release the honest sound of the recording.
G2 does not fix scratches or scuffs. Once the analog signal in the microgroove is lost, nothing will recover it.
A two ounce spray bottle has more than 300 fine mist sprays. Enough to clean both sides of 50 records! (YMMV). 2 oz-4 oz Combo Fluid Packs and 8 ounce refill bottles are available for separate purchase.
Some vinyl record cleaning fluids on the market today are plain distilled water. Or worse, have a high level of alcohol which is an ineffective cleaner and can harm vinyl records. Some can leave a layer in the microgroove that reduces sound fidelity.
G2 Fluid Contains:
- Surfactants: State of the art surfactants, designed to dissolve the oils from fingerprints and effectively clean the vinyl record's delicate surface.
- Super wetting agents:A specialty chemical combined with a blending agent that reduces the fluid's viscosity so it can penetrate to the bottom of the microgroove and spread the G2 Fluid across the record evenly.
- Emulsifiers: Holds the oils, dirt, mildew and microdust particles in suspension until the microfiber fabric cleaning pad absorbs and pulls the contaminants from the record surface. The emulsifiers restore the record's natural shiny surface.
- Purified, deionized water: Deionized water is the best carrier for the active cleaning ingredients and eliminates static electric charges on the record's surface on contact.
Cleaning Pad Design & Science
The GrooveWasher cleaning pads feature the highest quality split microfiber and other absorbent fabrics. These fabrics are effective in removing the contaminants borne in the G2 Fluid from the record's microgroove. The velcro backed pad design allows the pad to be washed or replaced. The cleaning pads are hand made in our plant in North Kansas City, MO, USA.

Each GrooveWasher Starter Kit includes an Instruction Booklet with helpful information on record cleaning and using the GrooveWasher System.

Scratching The Surface (Pure Pleasure) (On Sale)The Groundhogs' debut album is a long way from the 'classic' sound of the better-known 'Thank Christ for the Bomb/Split/Who Will Save the World?' trilogy. Indeed, the mellow classic blues through which the band pursues its nine tracks offer the unsuspecting listener little more than a direct blast from the peak of the British blues boom past. Early Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack, and Savoy Brown all haunted precisely the same corridors as Scratching The Surface, with only the occasional burst of fuzzed Tony McPhee guitar to distinguish the sonics from the rest of the pack. That said, Scratching The Surface ranks among the finest albums to emerge out of that entire period, a moody shuffle that includes an epic recounting of the Chicago classic Still a Fool and which matches five solid McPhee originals with a pair of blistering contributions from outgoing harmonica whiz Steve Rye. In fact, his Early in the Morning and You Don't Love Me might well be the album's best numbers, a discrepancy that puts one in mind of another of the blues boom's hottest acts, Jethro Tull, and just how much they changed once a founding member (Mick Abrahams) departed. Again, if you arrive at Scratching The Surface in search of a fresh Cherry Red or Status People, you'll probably be disappointed. But if you want to hear the blues sluicing straight out of the Southern England Delta, there are precious few better introductions.
- Tony McPhee (guitar, vocal)
- Steve Rye (harmonica, vocal)
- Pete Cruikshank (bass)
- Ken Pustelnik (drums)

About Pure Pleasure
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. Rocking Chair

I haven't realized how dirty my record grooves have been. I used the Groovewasher on a 1979 copy of JJ Cale's 5 record. This is a quiet, laid back, nice, record and I heard parts of JJ Cale's voice that I have not noticed before. This out shines all the competition. I hope this flies off of the shelves as people discover it. Keep up the good work. Thomas Lee

RevelationDub reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry delivers a second follow-up to his Grammy-nominated collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Steve Marshall and producer John Saxon. Perry continues to create unique, category-defying music. For the uninitiated, Lee Scratch Perry is one of the most important figures in the history of reggae music. Not only did he help develop the early reggae sound captured in a number of important recordings, but as an engineer, producer, songwriter, and performer he pioneered a number of innovations, including dub reggae. Lee Perry again draws his narrative from his spirituality and today's global events. Very special guests Keith Richards and George Clinton again join Marshall, with Duncan & Green, Tim Hill, Dr Sleepy, Alec Hay, elodieO & Abi Browning, and David Stewart Jones also featured.1. Roaring Lion (Awaiting Repress)1976 proved to be a defining year for Lee Scratch Perry. A deal with Island Records meant that his 3
albums and a dozen singles received the marketing and promotion from the coolest label in the
mainstream UK & US markets. Perry himself was in creative overdrive: he used Island's advances to
buy the latest studio technology for the young Black Ark Studio which enabled him to continually
develop his production signatures. Now, some 37 years later, Roaring Lion delivers unknown tunes
and mixes from that crucial year. With a dozen tracks straight off a single master tape our set offers a unique snap-shot of Perry's creative vibrations as Producer, and re-mixer, to the

ExhibitionistsIn the summer of 2010, Superhumanoids was birthed under the hazy air and bright blue skies of Los Angeles. A fascination for electronic sounds, instruments, pedals, and more, aesthetically united Max,Sarah, and Cameron. Like a petri dish growing each day, the band spent their time together intertwining and experimenting with their R&B upbringings and love for pop music.
Exhibitionists is the soundtrack to the last moments of dusk in LA. With swooning guitars, glimmering air, soaring melodies, the setting sun, and melting keyboards, something about the whole thing makes
your breath stop short. With each synth and guitar sound being completely made from scratch, the record brings a homegrown feel that encapsulates the thumps of the beating heart and lulls of swaying palm
fronds from LA. Despite being wrapped in an electronic blanket, the trio unravels each songs core to take the listener on a journey that
highlights the living R&B undertones and driving groove that brings to light the soul of the record. What is found in the sticky air of the city of angels is found here in Exhibitionists, to ease between the spaces of your body, make you dance, and bring you home.1. Black Widow

Love Will PrevailSean Ragon has been active in the DIY punk, industrial and experimental music communities on the east coast for over 15 years. Ragon also runs a record store and label in Brooklyn (Heaven Street and Blind Prophet Records, respectively). He has been recording under the moniker of Cult of Youth for the last five years.
Cult of Youth's last album produced by Chris Coady was a huge leap forward for the band, which had expanded to a four piece. It landed them on tours with Zola Jesus, Cold Cave and Iceage last summer and caused quite a stir not only among more indie-centric press outlets such as Pitchfork and Stereogum but with underground publications such as Heathen Harvest and Special Interests magazine as well.
For this album Ragon built his own recording studio from scratch in the back of his record store. This allowed him to control every aspect of the album and to take his time recording; in addition to vocals, he plays five different instruments on Love Will Prevail (electric and acoustic guitar, trombone, synth, and bass). He also engineered and mixed the entire album by himself.
For long time fans of the project, Love Will Prevail sees the marriage of the spontaneity of the earlier releases with the better recording quality of the more recent eponymous LP. This record features contributions from Glenn Maryansky on drums and Christiana Key on violin as well as percussion from the enigmatic Ning Nong and female vocals from former Battletorn vocalist (and Sean's long term girlfriend) Beverly Hames.
Love Will Prevail expands on the psychedelic neofolk foundation of the early work and adds lush atmospheres not dissimilar from Austrian post-industrial futurists Nový Svt (or even the more haunting side of late-60s Miles Davis). There is also an intentional nod to the Crass Records bands that influenced Ragon as a teenager and a tasteful hint of Velvet Underground worship.
The lyrical content is also fairly politically charged this time around, and serves as a plea for peace in a world gone mad. A far cry from the first self released single, Train To Kill, perhaps. The first single, "Man and Man's Ruin" finally realizes the majestic beauty that has always been bubbling under the surface of Ragon's work. Love Will Prevail is by far and away Cult of Youth's crowning achievement and it is the true embodiment of DIY idealism.1. Man and Man's Ruin

Long Distance (On Sale)After many requests to incorporate the best of the solo Holly Golightly songs into the live set, with top-notch backing provided by The Brokeoffs, I have picked some of my original band favorites and recorded this collection for old and new fans alike.
The highlight for me was the chance to re-record '(You Ain't) No Big Thing,' the fantastic 1966 Sam and Dave classic that I first started performing live in 1995. It's one of my all time top tunes, along with 'My Love Is,' the fabulous Little Willie John number, which we've given a wistful lone banjo accompaniment this time around.
There is even mix of cover songs and originals to revisit all of them corkers in their own right and all of them especially dear to me. Long Distance is a collection of my good-time foot-tappers and sing-along tear-jerkers. It's my top ten tracks prepared from scratch and served up fresh. - Holly Golightly1. Walk A Mile

I Can Spin A RainbowI CAN SPIN A RAINBOW is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for Amanda Palmer, an avowed fan of Edward Ka-Spel and the Legendary Pink Dots since discovering their psycho-theatrical, multi-textural work in her teens. As noted in her best-selling 2014 memoir, The Art of Asking, the LPD have long been an inspiration to Palmer, their deeply connected relationship with fans as important to her life and work as their fearless autonomy and impossible-to-pigeonhole musical approach.
The two musicians first met in 1992 when Palmer, then 16, attended a Legendary Pink Dots show in her hometown of Boston. In 1995, having found that the Pink Dots were looking for lodging with fans to save money on the road, Palmer hosted five members of the band and crew at her childhood home. Ten years later, Palmer's internationally acclaimed punk cabaret duo, The Dresden Dolls, had achieved enough success that they were able to invite the Dots to support them on a German tour, and it was then that Palmer and Ka-Spel vowed to carve out time to collaborate on an original recording. A decade passed and in July 2015 a very pregnant Palmer flew to London to start the long-discussed project but was informed on the first day of recording that her dear friend Anthony was losing his battle with cancer and had been given less than a week to live. Heartbroken, she assured Ka-Spel she would be back within the year. Indeed Palmer made good on her promise, returning in the spring of 2016 with her eight-month-old son, Anthony, in tow.
Palmer and Ka-Spel's search for a London recording studio was interrupted by an incredibly generous offer from Palmer's friend Imogen Heap, who suggested they make use of her Essex home recording studio, The Hideaway, conveniently located near Ka-Spel's own home in Hornchurch. With Palmer traveling between London, Hornchurch, and Heap's home studio, the pair spent just under a month composing and cutting an album entirely from scratch.
Recorded largely on Ka-Spel's computer, I CAN SPIN A RAINBOW is a truly collaborative effort, "a spiritual experience," says Palmer, in which both artists' stories, song fragments, poems, and lyrics became wholly meshed with loops, melancholy piano playing, melodic beds, and strange rhythms. The results range from the enchantingly minimal "The Clock at the Back of the Cage" and the album-opening "Pulp Fiction," mysterious and strange with a luxurious theatricality that conjures both of its creators' prior oeuvres while also opening a curtain into a heretofore unheard shared sonic world. Sensing the need for strings, the pair enlisted frequent LPD collaborator Patrick Q Wright, who contributed violin tracks from his studio in Italy. Alexis Michallek, Heap's longtime studio assistant, contributes singing saw to "Beyond The Beach."
"We merged our songwriting heads and poetic worlds to make a new universe," Palmer says. "We would sit in Imogen's house drinking cups of tea, bemoaning the state of the upcoming election, binge drinking in the UK, the refugee crisis, our internet addictions, frightening news we had read, our relationships and then we'd compost all of the ingredients of our fears and conversations into song form. The Rainbow metaphor - which is also a nod to the 'spinning beach ball of death' on a Mac - was a wide-open image that kept popping up as a recurring theme on the record. It's both dark and light at the same time. To me, the songs are simultaneously frightening and comforting, like a thunderstorm heard from a living room."
"Making this record with Amanda felt a little like discovering a twin you didn't know you had," says Ka-Spel, "until a mysterious email lands in your inbox at a particularly auspicious moment. Some things are just meant to be "1. Pulp Fiction

Time's Up"Time's Up" is Buzzcocks' 1976 album of demos originally released as a bootleg. Featuring the founding line-up of Howard Devoto (vocals & songwriter), Pete Shelley (guitar & songwriter), Steve Diggle (bass guitar) and John Maher (drums), "Time's Up" was recorded at Revolution Studios in Stockport, England on the 18th of October 1976. The session preceded the recording of Buzzcocks' groundbreaking debut Spiral Scratch", and features demos of the EP's four tracks - an EP now recognized as one of, if not the, most important records of the punk explosion.1. Wildcat is sure to help you scratch deeper into your favorite records. Select metals, exact geometry, and low-distortion insulation offer significant improvements over almost any stock phono cable.
SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER CONDUCTORS (PSC): Perfect-Surface Copper has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Proprietary metal-processing technology protects the wire's surface at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion conductor. For over 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of superior metals; yet even we were surprised by this huge leap in performance. PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that cost over ten times as much. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable is the greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound. Solid conductors are fundamental toward achieving Wildcat's very clean sound.
FOAMED-POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Wildcat uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.
TERMINATIONS: Wildcat's gold-plated RCA plugs use a proprietary design that eliminates the distortion caused by the extra contact inside most plugs. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability. A combination of these major ingredients, and many more subtle details add up to explain how Wildcat can sound so clean, clear and dynamic.$89.00Tonearm Cable Buy Now
