The DMV rapper has been building the album for the past few years and is ready to reveal his work! You may remember Sean Born from his appearance on the Apollo Brown produced The Trenches with Hassaan Mackey on the Daily Bread album. Includes bonus live track, "Ghosts of Eden," not on the CD version!

Salt Lake City-based heavy rock duo Eagle Twin's sophomore LP is finally upon us! Once again, they have created a true masterpiece that will devastate forward-thinking riff-seekers everywhere! Entitled, The Feather Tipped The Serpent's Scale, the new Eagle Twin opus picks up right where the band's acclaimed debut, The Unkindess of Crows, left off.

In this installment, the crows documented in the first album have battled the sun and were burned back down to earth as black snakes, the concept of the album continuing mainly on the snake and its various mythic and symbolic incarnations. Ultimately, the great ancestral snake is transformed from its lowly beginnings back into a bird soaring upon the thermals.

Recorded with Randall Dunn at London Bridge Studio (as with the first album), the record boasts some of the most mesmerizing and monstrous riff transformations from Eagle Twin to date. Eagle Twin merges the talents of guitarist Gentry Densley (of legendary post-hardcore/jazz icons, Iceburn) with thunderous percussion of Tyler Smith (formerly of Form of Rocket).

Following a cult split 7" with Night Terror in 2009, Eagle Twin's incredibly potent and unique multi-faceted approach became apparent to the world when their debut stormed doom and experimental music fans later that year. Limited edition double vinyl version from Southern Lord in Stoughton gatefold jacket which perfectly complements the amazing artwork.

    The Migration (Awaiting Repress)

The Migration, the new album from progressive instrumentalists SCALE THE SUMMIT, will be released in North America on June 11 via Prosthetic Records. Recorded earlier this year at North Carolina's Basement Studios with producer Jamie King (BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, HE IS LEGEND, FOR TODAY), the album will feature cover artwork by illustrator Duncan Storr (HAWKWIND, EDGE OF SANITY).

The Migration marks the recording debut of new SCALE THE SUMMIT bassist Mark Michell. The album will be released just days after SCALE THE SUMMIT hits the road with INTRONAUT on a summer North American tour.

SCALE THE SUMMIT's 2011 effort, The Collective, saw the band tour alongside the likes of PERIPHERY, CYNIC, FAIR TO MIDLAND, THE CONTORTIONIST, THE HUMAN ABSTRACT, PROTEST THE HERO and TRIOSCAPES. Since that album's touring cycle ended late last year, the band has kept busy, with guitarist Chris Letchford launching his own signature series Strandberg guitar and bassist Mark Michell releasing an instructional book.

The follow-up to 2009's Carving Desert Canyons, The Collective was recorded at Paint It Black Studios in Orlando, Florida with producer Mark Lewis (DEVILDRIVER, ALL THAT REMAINS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER).

Koen Holtkamp creates music that exists simultaneously in large and small scales. His compositions lend themselves to careful examination, with each sound precisely placed. Holtkamp (who is one-half of Mountains) considers every instrument he uses carefully and pays specific attention to the environment, actual or digital, in which that instrument is being recorded and processed. They also expand and evolve gradually, giving a sense of boundlessness that extends not only to a specific song or album, but also to his discography as a whole. On Motion, Holtkamp plays with these ideas of scale and space, using a shifting array of analog, digital and acoustic sources to explore the perceived effect of moving from one dynamic space to another. He excels at coaxing the sublime out of the synthetic, writing music that seems as if it has existed in nature for eons, but can only now be uncovered using modern electronic instrumentation.

    Kenny Burrell-- guitar

    Chauncey Lord Westbrook-- guitar

    Lawrence Gales-- bass

    Willie Bobo-- drums

    Potato Valdez-- conga

    Garvin Masseaux-- chekere

This 1962 date by tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse celebrates a grander and funkier scale of what Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd did earlier in 1962 with the bossa nova. Unlike Getz, Rouse didn't feel he needed to be a purist about it, and welcomed all sorts of Afro-Caribbean variations into his music. His choice of bandmates reflects that: a three-piece percussion section with drummer Willie Bobo, conguero Carlos "Patato" Valdes, and Garvin Masseaux on chekere (a beaded percussion instrument that is played by being shaken).

Musically, Coldplay has never sounded more adventurous than they do on X & Y and they absolutely perfect making simplicity seem sublime here. The music shifts from intimate, quiet and personal to soaring climaxes that culminate in massive layered sounds which push back the band's own boundaries. The scale of Coldplays ambition is on full display as they've never been known to shy away from success and with the momentum they manage to accrue with each successive release, there's literally no stopping this band.

    Riot Now! (Awaiting Repress)

Riot Now!, Eleventh Dream Day's 10th album, is a call back to the urgency of 1988's Prairie School Freakout, with a string of mostly first takes tracked in one session with few overdubs. Rick Rizzo, Janet Beveridge Bean, Douglas McCombs and Mark Greenberg revel in their own mixture of melodic mayhem. The band, while always moderately active in Chicago have not released a record since 2006.

Their 2011 album cover depicts a check out line in a grocery store. A customer stands glibly in line wearing a shirt that says Riot Now! Overhead a security camera films, and customers move about with blank expressions. The cover and many of the songs are comments on the contradictions inherit in a desire for large scale social change while retaining all the creature comforts of prosperity. While this election has shown us that Americans have less patience, we are largely complacent and unable to take action beyond complaint.

World Psychedelic Classics 3: Love's A Real Thing

These twelve astonishing tracks are drawn from a broad spectrum of early 70s West African psychedelic classics. Yet the fact that they scarcely registered on the Richter scale of contemporary underground music must surely be one of the greatest ironies of modern popular music, given that western counterculture drew so heavily on the musical, aesthetic and visual traditions of Africa.

Musically, the transatlantic links are strong and obvious; from the urban black American soul and funk of James Brown, through the West Coast sounds of Hendrix, to the deeper grooves of Cuban rumba and Latin percussion. During these years a nod in the direction of Detroit, Los Angeles or Havana was still more important than learning the latest lines from Lagos, Kinshasa or Accra.

After the expanded instrumental scale and sonic experimentation of Court & Spark and The Hissing of Summer Lawns, Joni Mitchell reverses that flow for the more intimate, interior music on Hejira, which retracts the arranging style to focus on Mitchell's distinctive acoustic guitar and piano, and the brilliant, lyrical bass fantasias of fretless bass innovator Jaco Pastorius. Known for his furious, sometimes rococo figures beneath the music of Weather Report, Pastorius is tamed by Mitchell's cooler, more deliberate ballads: these meditations coax a far gentler, subdued lyricism from Pastorius, whose intricate bass counterpoints Mitchell's coolly elegant singing, especially on the sublime Amelia, which transforms the mystery of Amelia Earheart into a parable of both feminism and romantic self-discovery. This isn't Mitchell at her most obviously ambitious, yet the depth of feeling, poetic reach, and musical confidence make this among the finest works in a very fine canon. --Sam Sutherland

Staunchly political and fearlessly personal, Kill The Wolf brings the best techniques from B's catalog into a new era in terms of scale and production value. The new album features a cast of carefully chosen collaborators, including such wide ranging talent as AESOP ROCK, BUCK 65, and KATHLEEN STUBELEK of CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE, as well as old friends BUDDY PEACE, ALIAS, and CECIL OTTER (of Doomtree). Sun Ship

Sun Ship is a jazz album recorded on August 26, 1965, by tenor saxophonist John Coltrane. The album extended the free jazz ideas of Transition. The relaxed, serene feel of earlier ballads like "Welcome" was transformed into a new style of ballad on "Dearly Beloved" and "Attaining". This style involved very slow tempos, drum rolls and fills, and a louder, more intense feel than traditional jazz ballads. Like "Psalm" (from A Love Supreme), there is no real tune, just a scale or series of tones used to build an improvised theme.

Coltrane's solos on the other tracks are also more extreme than on his earlier albums, and are reminiscent of the style of Albert Ayler and Pharaoh Sanders in their extensive use of altissimo and multiphonics. The title "Sun Ship" may have been inspired by Sun Ra's conception of free jazz as having an affinity with science fiction conceptions of human existence.

Sun Ship was one of the only albums John Coltrane's quartet recorded without sound engineer Rudy Van Gelder. It was also one of the last albums (with First Meditations, recorded a week later) which John Coltrane recorded before he began experimenting with larger groups. Tenor saxophonist Pharaoh Sanders was playing regularly with the band by September, 1965, and both McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones left the band in January, 1966.

Beautiful Losers: Singles & Compilation Tracks (Awaiting Repress)

The early 90's lo-fi explosion coincided with and was precipitated by the emergence of hundreds of small independent tape labels, many of which only existed long enough to release one compilation. It was during this heyday that Simon Joyner contributed some of his finest material to various intrinsically limited edition releases. "Beautiful Losers" collects all such compilation appearances and the few singles made during these years, including the perennial favorite "One for the Catholic Girls" and "Burn Rubber", recently covered by Bright Eyes. This was such a prolific period for Joyner that he usually contributed his best songs of the moment to whoever requested a track, instead of reserving them for his proper albums. You'll find here varying degrees of sound quality and various approaches to songs, from solo acoustic to full band, but what ties the collection together is the strength of the material. This isn't filler. The same themes that haunt his large scale work are explored here: death, love, the politics of time. Fans of Joyner's albums can now stop searching for the impossible to find cassettes and out of print 7-inches. For those unfamiliar with Simon Joyner's music, this compilation is a good place to introduce the ambivalent audience to the ambitious songwriter.

Gacy's Place: The Undiscovered Corpses (Awaiting Repress)

Of all the hotly sought-after original Killed-By-Death punk singles, few to none are as notorious - or mysterious - as the Gacy's Place EP by The Mentally Ill. The sleeve, the topics, the so-horrible-it's-amazing production values, that voice. Many in the know crown it the sickest punk record ever made. But there is more - much more. The Gacy's Place sessions yielded eight songs - only three were ever released.

A dig in the ol' crawlspace turned up even cruder earlier demos with alternate versions of the EP songs, plus over half-a-dozen others, heard only by a handful of people. A true labor of man-boy love, it took Jello Biafra years to pry this loose from the band. They kept insisting each album be housed in a 3-foot wide scale model of Gacy's house itself!

Now their affliction has subsided enough so that everyone finally has a chance to save their $200 evil-Bay bucks and grab a whole album's worth of mental illness before their condition comes back. Gacy's Place: The Undiscovered Corpses compiles all three recording sessions by The Mentally Ill: The Starbeat Sessions, The Basement Sessions and The Crawlspace Sessions for a total of 20 tracks, nearly all previously unreleased!

    Ethiopia Super Krar

Ethiopia Super Krar is the debut album by London-based Ethiopian band, The Krar Collective. The group is steadily making waves at festivals and venues in the UK, headed by the trio: Temesegen Zeleke (a former pupil of the Ethio-jazz veteran Mulatu Astatke) on krar, Robel Tesfaye on traditional Ethiopian kebero drums, and singer-dancer Genet Assefa.

Inspired by the rich cultural diversity of Ethiopia, a land steeped in history of 80 different language and ethnic groups, The Krar Collective is, of course, all about the krar - a six-stringed harp-like instrument, tuned to a pentatonic scale that is characteristic of Ethiopian and Eritrean music. The krar is often played by singer-poets called azmari, similar to the west African griot, the Italian cantautore or British bard. The lyre itself is an ancient instrument that originated in the Nile River and spread across north and eastern Africa, Europe and Asia. Today the krar is used both as an acoustic, bass and electric instrument, and paired up to compliment the electric guitar.

Ethiopia Super Krar is rooted in tradition but remains undisputedly fresh. The tracks were recorded to tape on an original 1960s 24-track reel-to-reel machine, which lends a live quality to the recording. Zeleke describes their sound as "Ethiopian traditional music with a rocky edge. Someone called us 'the White Stripes of Ethiopia' cos we just have drums and six strings".

Rhythmically hypnotic, melodic, bluesy and upbeat, the Krar Collective have got us all shaking our shoulders to the ancient sounds of the krar.

Comprised of longtime friends Marcus Pepperell (vocals, guitar, keys)
and John Hamson Jr. (drums, vocals, bass), THUMPERS make colorful,
exuberant alt-pop that celebrates their innate musical kinship and draws
upon their shared childhood memories. The London-based band combine
layered androgynous vocals with muscular drums, astral synths and
shimmering guitars in a celebration of the breathless sensations of youth
    and coming of age.

Friends since the age of 11 and playing in bands together since their
teens, the two reignited their musical bond again in early 2011. Initially
exchanging ideas over long distance correspondence, they used breaks
from travel and other projects for intensive, marathon recording sessions.
Retreating to the familiar surroundings of their hometown, they worked
intuitively and resourcefully in utilizing every means at their disposal
(with siblings occasionally joining in on the recording process) with the
sole objective of producing great recordings touched by a transcendental
jubilance and vague air of the otherworldly.

Live, THUMPERS are augmented by an interchanging cast of friends
and musicians in faithfully bringing their immersive dynamics and grand
scale sonic vision to the stage.

Galore is the debut album by THUMPERS. The record was produced
by Pepperell and Hamson along with David Kosten (Bat for Lashes,
    Everything Everything).

"Talk about upsetting the year-end list apple cart: Tragedy only came to
my attention but two weeks ago, but I haven't been able to leave its world
since. And make no mistake, Julia Holter's Tragedy truly inhabits a world
unlike any other." - NPR (THE BEST OUTER SOUNDS ALBUMS OF 2011)

"Tragedy is one of "those records," but it's also more: more sonically
detailed, more attentive to its compositions, and more clever and varied
about its use of grayscale."- PITCHFORK (8.0)

The much anticipated Domino vinyl re-issue of Tragedy - the hugely celebrated, long out-of-print and intensely coveted debut album by Los Angeles based artist Julia Holter.

Originally released in two runs of five hundred copies only on Los Angeles label Leaving
Records in November 2011, Tragedy proved to be that year's most captivating, adventurous
and inspired debut album and announced the arrival of a major new talent. Inspired by
Euripides' Hippolytus, the sheer scope and scale of ambition evident in Tragedy's fifty minutes
is staggering. Comprised of voice, synths, drum machines, piano, cello, saxophone, samples,
vocoders, ensemble musicians and a chorus, Tragedy is a transcendental amalgamation of
avant garde and pop conventions and of organic and electronic compositional forms - an
entire universe of a record blessed with its own beautifully peculiar logic.

With 2012's Ekstasis and 2012's Loud City Song welcoming even more adoring attention to
Holter's unique vision, this timely re-issue of Tragedy on the format it was conceived for is
essential for the long-seeking collector and newly converted alike.
