    The Hybrid

SCINTILLA is a science fiction thriller film, set deep underground in the wilds of a former
Soviet state where strange genetic experiments are taking place. The film has inspired a
newly formed super-group THE SCINTILLA PROJECT, fronted by SAXON's own BIFF BYFORD,
who will be releasing their album THE HYBRID, featuring songs inspired by the film.

Biff Byford states:' I was introduced to Lionel Hicks by Toby Jepson while recording 'Call To Arms'.
This was leading Saxon to write a song for the Lionel Hicks produced film 'Scintilla'. As the film
developed through production, our minds began working - maybe we could put together a
concept album based and inspired by the film. While I was having a break from writing with
Saxon me, Lionel Hicks and Anthony Ritchie ( both 'Balance Of Power') decided that I would
produce and also sing on the album, I brought in Andy Sneap to co-produce and play guitar on
    some tracks'.

Having toured with Metallica, Whitesnake, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, and many other artists since their inception in the early 80s, Armored Saint has always been a highly regarded live act - not only in their hometown of Los Angeles, but also around the world. The only official release to capture this, however, is 1989's live album, 'Saints Will Conquer' - until now.

After reforming with their original line-up in 1999 (John Bush - vocals, Joey Vera - bass, Phil Sandoval - guitar, Jeff Duncan - guitar, Gonzo Sandoval - drums), and releasing subsequent albums, 'La Raza' (2010) and 'Win Hands Down' (2015), to critical acclaim, Armored Saint has been delivering their heavy metal mastery around the globe, joining the likes of Saxon, Metal Church - and even Queensryche in November/December 2016 - on the road. Of all of these performances, the band recorded their 2015 Wacken festival set as well as their headlining show in Aschaffenburg, Germany, with the intention of giving fans another live release that holds up to 'Saints Will Conquer.'

The band has completed work on their debut full-length album Curse Of The Damned, featuring eleven brand new original tracks.

NIGHT DEMON unite the three members' musical inspirations and influences ranging from old-school metal greats such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Diamond Head, Angel Witch, Riot and Saxon to punk legends The Misfits. We Were Wonderers

Williams Shift is a new project from Matthew Stone (Soporus, Saxon Shore) and Stephen Roessner (Saxon Shore, Small Signals). We Were Wonderers was recorded in various home studios, produced and mixed by Grammy award winning producer Roessner in conjunction with Stone, and features the vocalist Jill Purdy. Williams Shift comes to life as an outgrowth of the poppiest elements incorporated in songs recorded as members of the instrumental band Saxon Shore combined with the concept of the "Williams Shift" where defenders would align themselves to better field naturally pulled hits from Boston slugger Ted Williams. The band blends soaring synth pop influences with an ever-expanding and spiraling Williams mythology and weight of the Cosmos. Captivated by theories of human cryonic suspension and the cagey details post- Williams mortem, the band embraces an actively dreaming suspended head and an alternate future of Williams' awakening. His frozen head orbits the earth on a satellite with other cryonically frozen beings, a tragic Greek chorus echoing Williams' thoughts through Brian Wilson-esque (musician, not reliever) melodies. This is an ode to melody, love lost, remembrance, baseball, Ted Williams' legacy, and the universe with a hefty dose of artistic license and imagination and the resulting existential and philosophical ramifications. We Were Wonderers was predominantly conceived as a studio side-project, but Stone and Roessner have assembled a live band that is currently practicing and preparing Williams Shift tracks for live shows later in 2015. We Were Wonderers is available on both cd and 2xLP. The 2xLP features a 4th side etching from John Ringhofer (Halfhanded Cloud) representing some of the album's thematic elements. The vinyl is pressed on blue vinyl with white marble veins and white vinyl with blue marble veinsand presented in a gatefold jacket. Additionally, there is a limited edition cassette featuring the instrumental version of We Were Wonderers and released in conjunction with our good friends at Flannelgraph Records in Bloomington, IN.

Fallin' Off The Edge (Awaiting Repress)

The 1977 Seeds rarities compilation Fallin' Off The Edge was a great addition to the original band's catalog, as it collected some non-LP singles, outtakes, and alternate versions/mixes of songs.

As for non-LP songs from singles, Fallin' Off The Edge includes The Wind Blows Your Hair from 1967; Daisy Mae, the B-side OF The Seeds' first 45rpm release (Can't Seem To Make You Mine); The Other Place, which was the B-side of 1966's Try To Understand single; and one side of The Seeds' final release on GNP/Crescendo, Fallin' Off The Edge Of My Mind. (Curiously, that single's other side, Wild Blood, isn't included.) Unreleased tracks include She's Wrong, the zonked-out, poppy Chocolate River, and, most impressively, The Wind Blows Your Hair (reprise), an alternate version of the song with different (and much more frightening) lyrics.

    Blood Bunny/Black Rabbit

Befitting of The Black Heart Procession, Blood Bunny/Black Rabbit takes the experimentation hinted at on last years critically lauded Six and expands upon it in bizarre and brilliant ways. Centered around three stunning new songs, the collection is arranged and mixed as one continuous composition, sounding every bit like an LSD-influenced DJ set in the kind of terrifying but strangely alluring vampire sex den commonly seen in True Blood. Its the ideal atmosphere for The Black Heart Procession, where they feel most comfortable and sound most in control.

The set is rounded out by a series of remixes, most notably the eccentric freak-out Freeze by legendary dub pioneer Lee Scratch Perry and ambient electronic luminary Eluviums 10-minute orchestral reconstruction of the solitary piano ballad Drugs. Jenkins remixes a couple of tunes himself under the guise of Mr. Tube, and San Diego electronic producers Jamuel Saxon close the album with an unlikely downtempo dance reworking of Drugs that transforms the songs morose lyrics into a meditative, almost hopeful trance.

If Blood Bunny/Black Rabbit was supposed to be a stop-gap between albums, no one seems to have told the band as much. It is easily one of The Black HeartProcessions more compelling and intriguing releases of their extensive and impressive catalog.

Rare MGM Recordings In A Gatefold Double 7 Set

A group burning as white-hot as the Seeds couldn't last long and, indeed, after their initial blast of success with "Pushin' Too Hard," the original band fell apart. However, Saxon's mission was not yet complete so he and keyboardist Daryl Hooper put together a new lineup. The replanted Seeds signed with MGM Records and entered the studio, capturing some amazing performances. MGM released two singles from these sessions in 1970, but both failed to chart. Further bad luck came when label boss Mike Curb launched a "drug purge," dropping bands with perceived drug associations, the Seeds among them. Their two singles quickly vanished from MGM's catalog, making them almost impossible to find. Reaching deep into the vaults, Sundazed has rescued these elusive recordings for this double 7" release. Sourcing all four tracks from the original MGM analog tapes, these songs are reborn in amazing aural quality on this strictly limited edition. Grab one and let your psychedelic garden grow!

    Vikings: Season 2 Soundtrack

    Silvery-Blue Colored Vinyl

Vikings is a Canadian-Irish historical drama television series, written and created by Michael Hirst. Filmed in Ireland, Vikings is inspired by the tales about the Viking Ragnar Lodbrok, one of the best-known mythological Norse heroes and notorious as the scourge of France and England. It portrays Ragnar as a Viking farmer who pioneers the first daring raids into England with the support of fellow warriors, his brother Rollo, and his wife, the shieldmaiden Lagertha.

At its heart, Vikings remains a family saga, following the fortunes of Ragnar, his extended family and the people he represents now that he is an earl. Ragnar's own desire to sail west, to explore new kingdoms, in alliance with King Horik, leads to a storm-tossed landing on the coast of Wessex, an important Saxon kingdom ruled by a king not unlike Ragnar. Season 2 is all about crises: of faith, of power and of relationships. Kingdoms are at stake. Lives are at stake. Love is at stake. And all
under the watchful eyes of the gods.

The soundtrack for Vikings 2 features selections from the original music of the second season of the series composed by award winning Canadian composer Trevor Morris, best know for his work on scores of The Tudors, The Borgias and Immortals. Morris' score elevates the action and emotion experienced throughout the series. His music is at times dark and brooding to reflect the mystery and danger of the Viking world. Often, it's full of thunderous percussion and brass for scenes of conflict; while it's sensitive and touching to illustrate romance.

    Bashed Out

This Is The Kit is the much beloved musical project of Kate Stables, born in England and based in Paris. Bashed Out is her band's third album, the result of an extended period collaboration with the record's producer Aaron Dessner (Sharon Van Etten, Local Natives). Dessner--the co-founder of the Brassland label--is best known for his work in The National. Indeed, the backing band he gathered for Bashed Out combines the talents of This Is The Kit's touring members (Rozi Plain, Jesse Vernon, Jamie Whitby-Coles), alongside a number of session players drawn from the Brooklyn music scene: Bryce Dessner, Thomas Bartlett (Doveman, The Gloaming), Matt Barrick (The Walkmen) and Ben Lanz (Beirut, The National) all made key instrumental contributions. This music is honest, human and humane-a folky-lovely slow-rumble. It's rock but of the hangover-friendly, stoner variety; it's folk but at a groovy speed. As notable as the music, however, is front woman Kate Stables, whose voice hearkens back to the classic singer-songwriter era--her distinctive, cutting vocals up front in the mix. It's a self-confidence gained since her previous album, 2011's Wriggle Out the Restless, which made her band a minor institution in the United Kingdom, especially on the radio which has embraced the group. This Is The Kit has received across the board support from BBC 6 DJs Lauren Laverne, Radcliffe & Maconie, Marc Riley, Cerys Matthews, and Mary Anne Hobbs--receiving further play from BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, Jen & Ally, and Phil Taggart. Wonderful wonderful stuff, said DJ and Elbow frontman Guy Garvey, before arguing their last album should have made the Mercury Prize shortlist. The Line of Best Fit has already called This Is The Kit an essential fixture of British folk music for the past 10 years one of a handful of truly innovate songwriters working with the British folk template today. In America, however, the band is just building up to their breakout moment. Bruce Warren, program director at influential American AAA station WXPN has praised Stables' "warm and gorgeous voice" and we expect similar notices to come across on this new LP. From Kate's earliest year growing up in the UK town of Winchester, she learned that great art takes time. In some ways the place I grew up is defined by being a Roman Saxon medieval cathedral city, she explains. They started building the Winchester Cathedral a thousand years ago and they've been working on it ever since. It's an exciting moment to join This Is The Kit's continuing musical evolution into a synesthetic, shape-shifting entity-rooted in folk but encompassing elements of psychedelia, alternative rock, and electronic textures and sensibilities.

Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra (Speakers Corner) (Awaiting Repress)

The opening fanfare from Richard Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra (Thus spoke Zarathustra) is known to everyone since it was 'rediscovered' in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey and consequently employed time and again in TV ads. At the turn of the century, however, renowned music critics asked themselves whether they should even bother to listen to the rest of the work, a symphonic poem, which - they presumed - was a narration in music of Nietzsche's book. In what is probably his most famous orchestral composition, Strauss, however, freely associated the words of the Saxon poet and philosopher when putting them into music by using the key of C major to depict nature, and the greatly contrasting key of B major for humanity.

Once again Herbert von Karajan proves himself a distinguished tour guide through the wistful, secretive and bleak sound world through which Strauss has his questing hero wander. And the Berlin Philharmonic thank him with captivating, meltingly beautiful violins, deep growling basses, and steely winds. One recalls with pleasure the legendary leading violinist Michel SchwalbÉ, who plays the solo part with immense feeling and profundity. Enhanced by a perfected analogue recording technique, this disc is a wise choice when it comes to Strauss.

    • The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

    • Herbert von Karajan (conductor)

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Dub reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry delivers a second follow-up to his Grammy-nominated collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Steve Marshall and producer John Saxon. Perry continues to create unique, category-defying music. For the uninitiated, Lee Scratch Perry is one of the most important figures in the history of reggae music. Not only did he help develop the early reggae sound captured in a number of important recordings, but as an engineer, producer, songwriter, and performer he pioneered a number of innovations, including dub reggae. Lee Perry again draws his narrative from his spirituality and today's global events. Very special guests Keith Richards and George Clinton again join Marshall, with Duncan & Green, Tim Hill, Dr Sleepy, Alec Hay, elodieO & Abi Browning, and David Stewart Jones also featured.

    Battering Ram (Out Of Stock)

With Biff Byford singing as well as he ever has, Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt making full use of the term 'shredding' with their guitars and the lock-steady rhythm of Nibbs Carter's bass and Nigel Glockler's drums, the future and the past crash together in an ear-scintillatingly engaging, raucous, melodic-yet-classically heavy ten songs collection which will instantly be hailed as a Saxon classic. The title track, with its delectable twin guitar assault heralding the album's commencement, gives the listener an instant crack around the chops, whilst traditionalists will be delighted to hear such a perfect marriage of old, classic Saxon with the newer, fresher invective in such riff-fronted fare as "Destroyer" and "Stand Your Ground", but there are still moments of space and exploration which fans will love. "This one's a natural progression from Sacrifice," says Byford, "There's a bit less rock'n'roll and a bit more 'heavy' on it. We wanted to keep focused on a style rather than moving around too much." Produced by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Testament, Exodus Accept) at his Backstage Recording Studios in rural Derbyshire, Saxon were able to hone in and whittle down any excess, finding the sonic space and balance to let Battering Ram's riffs and melodies get the necessary space to scream front and center, Sneap bringing a crispness to the sound which evokes memories of the early '80s without for one moment sounding dated. "Yes, Andy has been in charge of everything with this album, I keep on overview of it all, but he's done a great job and we're both pleased with the results. We have a great partnership." Lyrically, Battering Ram covers a variety of social situations, from the screaming fans who rage at the gig barriers ("Battering Ram") to the inequalities of taxation ("Tax 'Till You Drop"), as well as engaging in some good old fashioned myth ("The Devil's Footprint" - a 200 year old tale of people waking up in winter snowfall to see unexplained hoof prints which they followed, looking for an answer in vain). "When I'm writing lyrics I like to switch back and forth between complex things, reality and rock'n'roll," says Byford, "I thought the whole folklore behind "The Devil's Footprint" made it great material for a metal song, being that it's both historic and mythical. "With "Queen of Hearts" I wanted to write something around Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland, and it's about the chess game that happens in the story. I wanted it to have prog-feeling in the way of its ambiance and mood. Then you have songs like "Destroyer" and "Hard and Fast" which are '80s inspired songs with that modern slant on it. I'm a big fan of Marvel comics, and I wanted to write a song around the character Destroyer, and with "Hard and Fast" it's as the title suggests, about driving fast! I do like to tie the lyric into the song, so if it's going to be a song about driving fast, well, it has to be a fast, hard song!" There is also the album's closing cut, haunting, gripping, melancholic tale of the First World War, "The Kingdom of The Cross", where a poem unfurls the feelings and horrors which comprised this most brutal of global conflicts. "This year is the centenary of the end of the First World War. Nigel had a piece of music which he played on a synthesizer for a couple of years that I really liked. We had an actor (and singer), David Bower from the band Hell, read the poem and I sang the choruses. I didn't want it to be typical Saxon, so it is just keyboards, bass, me and Dave." Wonderfully uncompromising, with Battering Ram Saxon have once again established their rightly-venerated credentials as Kings and vanguards of heavy metal music.

As Above, So Below (Out Of Stock)

With a lineage dating back to 1977, South Londons Angel Witch were leading lights of a now legendary movement known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal that saw their path interwoven with the likes of Iron Maiden, Saxon, Samson, Praying Mantis, the Tygers Of Pan Tang and countless more.
Unlike a great many of the groups with whom they shared stages their style was dark, uncompromising and heavy; a perfect complement for the sword & sorcery-themed lyrics of songs such as White Witch, Gorgon and Angel Of Death no wonder Geoff Barton of Sounds magazine once memorably described their bludgeoning sound as: the first Black Sabbath album played through a cement mixer.

This album is unquestionably the finest thing to bear the band's name since the first, iconic release. Its contents unite newly-penned yet timeless sounding material.
