This modern soul classic debut was recorded and released in 1984, two years after the English group was formed. Diamond Life was an instant hit in the UK, peaking at #2 and staying in Top Ten for more than six months. At the same time they conquered the rest of Europe reaching #1 positions in The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In the USA it reached #5 in the charts and the album reached a four time Platinum status, just like in the UK. Due to the hit singles Your Love Is King, When Am I Going To Make A Living, Smooth Operator and Hang On To Your Love Sade's debut album sold more than 7 million copies worldwide! The Best Of SadeBy the time this was released in 1994, something unexpected happened. Sade's early work became classic and the later additions boasted even better vocals and songs that nicely improved on the theme. The timeless sound and class always exhibited makes Sade Adu and her band a no-brainer for an appealing compilation.
Like Al Green's Greatest Hits, The Best of Sade doesn't detract from the original albums and is a marker of time, not the end of the act. The ice-princess demeanor and detached vocals worked perfectly for the mid-'80s singles and radio samples Smooth Operator and Your Love Is King. The tracks from the make-or-break second album, Promise, seem less dolorous propped up and sequenced for a compilation. The sensual-to-a-fault The Sweetest Taboo and Never As Good As the First Time both retain their strength here. This set also includes tracks from Sade's comeback CD, Love Deluxe, including Kiss of Life and No Ordinary Love.
As a bonus, The Best of Sade also includes a rare cover of Please Send Me Someone to Love from the Philadelphia soundtrack.LP 1

Sade is back!
2010's Soldier Of Love proved her to be the queen of British NuSoul, and now Music On Vinyl is re-releasing one of her other gems: Love Deluxe. The album, recorded in 1992, proves how far ahead she was of her American counterparts Angie Stone and Erykah Badu. Her calm, oh-so-cool and yet fragile vocals are reinforced by the minimal arrangements, so we are able to focus on her engaging lyrics filled with love, heartbreak and compassion.
Love Deluxe will be released on high standard 180 grams audiophile vinyl, and includes Grammy-winning 'No Ordinary Love' and hit-single 'Cherish The Day'.

'Lovers Rock' is the 5th studio album by the English singer Sade (born Helen Folasade Adu), released on 14 November 2000 by Epic Records. The album reached number eighteen on the UK Albums Chart and number 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200. it has since been certified triple platinum by the RIAA. 'Lovers Rock' earned Sade the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. She is the most successful solo female artist in the UK, having sold over 50 million albums.
From the early 80's on Sade and her band produced a string of hit albums, from debut album Diamond Life in 1984 up to Lovers Rock in 2000 (a new album is released in February 2010). Changing a winning team never was a good plan and Sade, accompanied by longtime associates Stuart Matthewman, Andrew Hale and Paul Denman, managed to deliver an elegant, smooth-yet-not-too-slick-sounding album. Pioneering the Nu Soul genre roughly 10 years before her US colleagues, Sade is definitely one of a kind!
Worthy of a 10th anniversary audiophile pressing, we gave 'Lovers Rock' the 180 grams vinyl treatment, for your aural pleasure!Side A

Soldier Of LoveMusic On Vinyl has already released two classic Sade albums; 1992's Love Deluxe and Lovers Rock from 2000, so it only makes sense to release their latest album Soldier Of Love from 2010.
This album is again filled with minimal arrangements that encapsulate Sade Adu's fragile singing, and yet there is a strength that shines through her voice that we haven't seen from her for a while. The album is filled with love, hurt, and abandonment, but there is an anger and a defiance here that we haven't seen before. Sade's lyrics are, as ever, poetic, demand our attention, and are a lot darker than we're used to.
This was Sade's first album with original work in 10 years, and was much anticipated by press and public alike. Luckily for us, in the words of fellow Neo-Soul singer Maxwell: it's so monolithic it'll shake you in your shoes!

Herbie Hancock's 40th album was originally released in 1996 on CD only. Hancock reinvents tunes like Don Henley's New York Minute, Peter Gabriel's Mercy Street, Simon & Garfunkel's Scarbrorough Fair and more.
On first glance this record would not seem to have much promise from a jazz standpoint. Herbie Hancock performs a set of tunes which include numbers from the likes of Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Sade, Paul Simon, Prince, the Beatles (Norwegian Wood) and Kurt Cobain. However by adding vamps, re-harmonizing the chord structures, sometimes quickly discarding the melodies and utilizing an all-star band, Hancock was able to transform the potentially unrewarding music into creative jazz. Hancock, who sticks to acoustic piano, shows that he is still in prime form, taking quite a few fiery solos. With Michael Brecker on tenor and surprisingly effective soprano, guitarist John Scofield, bassist Dave Holland, drummer Jack DeJohnette and percussionist Don Alias (along with an occasional horn or string section that was dubbed in later), the results are often quite hard-swinging and certainly never predictable...

UNIM-BLU-6715xRobert Glasper Experiment
Black RadioThe Robert Glasper Experiment's Blue Note Records/EMI release Black Radio is a future landmark recording that boldly stakes out new musical territory and transcends any notion of genre, drawing from jazz hip-hop, R&B and rock, but refusing to be pinned down by any one tag.
The first full-length album from the Grammy-nominated keyboardist's electric Experiment band (Casey Benjamin/sax & vocoderist, Derrick Hodge/bass and Chris Dave/drummer) also features many of Glasper's famous friends from the spectrum of urban music, seamlessly incorporating appearances from a jaw-dropping roll call of special guests including Erykah Badu, Bilal, Lupe Fiasco, Lalah Hathaway, Shafiq Husayn, KING, Ledisi, Chrisette Michele, Musiq Soulchild, Meshell Ndegeocello, Stokley Williams and Mos Def.
Throughout, the Experiment wears its eclecticism on its sleeve, presenting new collaborative originals and surprising cover songs. They transform the Afro-Cuban standard Afro Blue with Badu, Sade's Cherish The Day with Hathaway, David Bowie's Letter to Hermione with Bilal and Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit with Benjamin's vocoder vocal.1. Fresh AirBorn in the bleak isolation of the secluded prairie city of Edmonton, Canada, Homeshake's Peter Sagar worked with friends in a number of local bands before picking up and moving to Montreal in 2011 to begin recording under the Homeshake moniker. Following two self-released cassettes (The Homeshake Tapes and Dynamic Meditation) and two acclaimed full-lengths (In The Shower and Midnight Snack), Sagar cracks a window open with his third album for Sinderlyn - Fresh Air.
Started immediately following the recording of Midnight Snack, Fresh Air continues Sagar's exploration of dreamy, downtempo bedroom R&B and draws inspiration from such disparate artists like Sade, The Band, Broadcast, Prince, and Angelo Badalamenti. As the title Fresh Air suggests, Sagar's songs were created to clear his listeners' minds of negativity. Full of smoky, laid back love songs and airy productions, Sagar's decidedly stoned sound is a breath of fresh air.1. Hello Welcome

L.A. Witch (Awaiting Repress)First LP Pressing Limited To 1500 Copies On Translucent Pink Colored Vinyl
The name is a partial misnomer. Though the band hails from Los Angeles, they do not partake in any sort of witchcraft. Yet their ability to conjure a specific time and place through their sound does suggest a kind of magic. On their eponymous debut album, L.A. Witch's reverb-drenched guitar jangle and sultry vocals conjure the analog sound of a collector's prized 45 from some short-lived footnote cult band. The melodies forgo the bubblegum pop for a druggy haze that straddles the line between seedy glory and ominous balladry; the production can't afford Phil Spector's wall-of-sound, but the instruments' simple beauty provides an economic grace that renders studio trickery unnecessary; the lyrics seem more descendent of Johnny Cash's first-person morality tales than the vacuous empty gestures of pre-fab pop bands. This isn't music for the masses; it's music for miscreants, burnouts, down-and-out dreamers, and obsessive historians.
Album opener Kill My Baby Tonight is the perfect introduction to the band's marriage of '60s girls-in-the-garage charm and David Lynch's surreal exposÉs of Southern California's underbelly.Sade Sanchez's black velvet vocals disguise the malicious intent of this murder ballad, with the thumping pulse of bassist Irita Pai, the slow-burn build of drummer Ellie English, and Sanchez's Desert guitar twang helping beguile the listener into becoming a willing accomplice to the narrator's crimes. Brian follows the opening track with a similarly graceful, if not somewhat ominous, slow-mo take on a well-worn jukebox 7. It's a vibe that permeates the entire album, from the early psychedelic hue of 13th Floor Elevators on tracks like You Love Nothing, through the motorik beat and fuzzed-out licks of Drive Your Car, to the grittier permutation of Mazzy Star's sleepy beauty on Baby In Blue Jeans.1.
