Rush were never the darlings of the media and their ascent to fame was achieved the hard way by playing gigs and letting word of mouth do the rest. There were a few exceptions to the rule however - radio station WMMS Cleveland radio were sympathetic to the cause and were prepared to take the rare step of broadcasting a whole one hour concert across the airwaves.

This particular gig is the priceless record of the first ever concert radio broadcast by Rush. The set is skewed towards songs from their debut album, Rush, which was recorded before Neal Peart joined the band. Of special interest is the fact that the broadcast also features the earliest versions of tracks from the forth-coming Fly by Night album. However, the holy grail for Rush fans are the two hitherto unreleased tracks - the legendary Fancy Dancer and Garden Road, neither of which ever made it to vinyl.

Also featured is a cover of Larry Williams Bad Boy, a straight ahead rock 'n' roller rocker, and a real curio which is certainly not in the classic Rush mold. The set was produced with the collector in mind and is essential listening for every Rush fan.

From The Original 1974 Analog Stereo Masters

Original Moon Records Jacket Art, Complete With The Original MN-100-A/B Matrix Etching

16"x22" Reproduction Of The First Rush Promo Poster

Three 5"x7" Lithographs Of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson And John Rutsey

A 12"x12" Rush Family Tree Poster

In March of 1974, Rush released their self-titled debut through the band's own indie label, Moon Records in Canada, and quickly sold out of the initial 3500 copies originally pressed. Moon Records would soon become Anthem Records, which launched in 1977, and continues to serve as the band's only Canadian record company.

To mark the band's 40-year recording career, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) will celebrate with the vinyl reissue of the original Moon Records (pre-Mercury) release of Rush, as part of Universal's reDISCovered vinyl series. Housed in a sturdy, custom box with a lift-off top, this landmark album is pressed on 200g, audiophile grade vinyl, from the original 1974 analog stereo masters, cut to copper plates using the Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) process at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Rush also features the original Moon Records jacket art, complete with the original MN-100-A/B Matrix etching, and will include a 16"x22" reproduction of the first Rush promo poster, three 5"x7" lithographs of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and John Rutsey, and a 12"x12" Rush Family Tree poster.

Featuring the band's original line up, Lee, Lifeson and Rutsey, Rush's eponymous 1974 debut features eight hard- hitting rockers including "Finding My Way," the fast-paced "Need Some Love," "Take A Friend," "What You're Doing," the southern rock vibe of "In The Mood," and their U.S. breakthrough anthem "Working Man" which was made famous by Cleveland, Ohio's WMMS radio station. Other tracks include the more melodic "Here Again" and the atmospheric "Before and After," which gradually builds into a burst of power chords and heavy guitar riffs.

Rush's unique style and sound continues to evolve and push the envelope of rock into new territories, gaining legions of new fans along the way. After a four decade journey, in 2013 Rush was recognized for their immeasurable impact and influence in rock and roll and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame to the delight of fans and critics alike.

    Hold Your Fire

    200 Gram Vinyl

Remastered At Abbey Road Studios Using The Direct To Metal Mastering Audiophile Copper Plating Process, All From Original Analogue Masters

Hold Your Fire is an album in the purest sense; infinitely greater than the sum of its parts, it gradually draws in the listener by slowly revealing its nuances and secrets. While the use of keyboards is still overwhelming at times, Geddy Lee employs lush textures which, when coupled with a greater rhythmic and melodic presence from guitarist Alex Lifeson, results in a far warmer sound than in recent efforts. Of course, drummer Neil Peart is as inventive and exciting as ever, while his lyrics focus on the various elements (earth, air, water, fire) for much of the album. Opener Force Ten is the band's most immediate number in years, and other early favorites such as Time Stand Still and Turn the Page soon give way to the darker mysteries of Prime Mover and Tai Shan. The multifaceted Lock and Key is quintessential Rush, and sets the stage for the album's climax with the sheer beauty of Mission. As was the case with 1976's 2112 and 1981's Moving Pictures, Rush always seem to produce some of their best work at the end of each four-album cycle, and Hold Your Fire is no exception.

    Snakes And Arrows (On Sale)

Features Etched Designs on Side D of the Album

    200 Gram Double LP

A return to their former glory days, Snakes and Arrows shows this seminal prog rock band reclaiming their sonic territory. It's not certain what contributed to this artistic rebirth, but Rush has crafted a historical and emotional odyssey that shows many both where they've been and where they're going--from the baroque soundscapes of The Main Monkey Business, reminiscent of their earliest work to the seductive almost folkloric urgency of The Way the Wind Blows, which is as dangerous, anxious, and prophetic as anything that Arcade Fire or Mars Volta is doing currently.

Main Lyricist Neil Peart has spent the last decade getting over the death of his wife and daughter, and those tragic events have given his songwriting more depth and gravity as he explores the strengths and limitations of faith in both metaphoric and literal detail.

While never didactic or ponderous, this disc is really an instruction manual for how one conducts themselves with grace and hope through unendurable pain and the vagaries of life. Gone is much of the shrillness of their earlier incarnations--Geddy Lee's trademark high pitch shrieks have mellowed considerably and Alex Lifesong's guitar playing has an assurance and freedom that can only come with age. --Jaan Uhelszki

    Timeless Wavelength

Double 140g Vinyl LP In A Gatefold Sleeve

Recorded Live At Kiel Auditorium, St Louis, Missouri, Usa, February 12, 1980

Mastered At Abbey Road Studios, London

Timeless Wavelength is a high quality vinyl-only 1980 double live set from one of the
biggest rock groups in history, recorded live at Kiel Auditorium, St Louis, Missouri, USA, February 12, 1980.

Rush are Canada's biggest rock export, with millions of sales of their nineteen studio albums recorded between 1974 and the present day.
Formed in Toronto at the end of the 1960s, it was their second album Fly By Night which saw drummer Neil Peart join forces with singer / bass player Geddy Lee and guitar gunslinger Alex Lifeson on the path to rockstardom. Which came in 1976 with their fourth album 2112, the sci fi concept piece that fills side one being performed on Timeless Wavelenth in its entirety.

Rush hit the charts with 1980 smash The Spirit Of Radio from the album Permanent Waves (that year's tour is when Timeless Wavelength was recorded).
The following year saw the biggest album of their career, Moving Pictures (including the hit Tom Sawyer).
Since then they have sustained their position as one of rock's biggest bands, with millions of tickets, records and t-shirts sold -- even the kids in South Park (led by superfan Cartman) are in a Rush tribute band.

    ABC 1974 (Black Vinyl)

The history of the ever mighty Rush goes back to 1968 when the group first got together, but it was not until 1974 that the band proper with Neal Peart joining Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson to make for the line-up we have known and loved ever since came to the fore.

Peart joined just two weeks before Rushs first US tour and it was during this American jaunt that the guys played the infamous Agora Ballroom, Cleveland - a venue at which the group would go onto play numerous more shows during their formative years.

At their 1974 booking however, radio station WMMS radio was on hand to broadcast the whole event across the airwaves and thus make this particular gig a somewhat notorious event as well as being Rushs very first radio broadcast

The set played by the group that hot August evening in Americas dark industrial underbelly, includes songs from their debut album, Rush, and features two early versions of cuts from their sophomore record, Fly by Night

The show also contained a cover of Larry Williams Bad Boy a 1950s rocker and no mistake - plus incredibly, two excellent tracks that have never been released on any previous Rush release; the super-rare Fancy Dancer and Garden Road, both composed in their very earliest incarnation before Neal Peart was on board

The package is completed by three bonus tracks from their second US broadcast, back at the ABC a year later, and again courtesy of their by then long time champions, WMMR Cleveland

All three songs from the 75 set originated on Fly By Night

On April 7th '75 Rush pulled up at The Agora Ballroom, in Cleveland, Ohio - a venue they had played a year before on their first US Tour, and which, like tonight's show, had also been the subject of an FM radio broadcast. Playing five cuts from Fly By Night, four from their debut and keeping their favourite cover of the time - Larry Williams' Bad Boy - in the set, this dynamic performance featuring superb audio sound quality finds Rush at a still early but most ambitious time in the group's history when it must have seemed, for band and fans alike, that just about anything was possible.

Power Windows introduced more keyboard synthesizers into the band's sound. The Big Money and Mystic Rhythms were both made into music videos featured in MTV's rotation at the time. This was the era in which the band were expanding into new directions from their progressive rock base, and they had on their then recent albums tightened up their sidelong suites and rhythmic abstractions into balled-up song fists, art-pop blasts of angular, slashing guitar, spatial keyboards and hyperpercussion, all resolved with forthright melodic sense

    Grace Under Pressure

    200 Gram Vinyl

    Remastered From Original Analogue Masters

Remastered on 200-gram, heavyweight vinyl at legendary Abbey Road Studios using the Direct to Metal Mastering (DMM) audiophile copper plating process, all from original analogue masters. Grace Under Pressure is the band's tenth studio album and was originally released in April, 1984. Grace Under Pressure reached #10 on the Billboard chart and went platinum. Alex Lifeson called it 'the most satisfying of all our records.' It was the first album they recorded without long-time producer Terry Brown, eventually producing it themselves. The song's themes were influenced by the growing tensions in the Cold War. The music itself continued the presence of synthesizers introduced on Signals, as well as incorporating elements of ska and reggae into their sound. Singles included 'Distant Early Warning,' 'The Body Electric,' 'Red Sector A' and 'Afterimage.'

Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory

Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory is the fifth studio album by American progressive Metal/Rock band Dream Theater. Originally released in 1999, it was recorded at BearTracks Studios in New York, where the band had previously recorded their second studio album Images And Words and the EP A Change of Seasons.

The album is the sequel to Metropolis-Part I: The Miracle And The Sleeper, a song previously featured on the band's 1992 album Images and Words [MOVLP780]. It was the first album to feature Jordan Rudess on keyboards.

In 2012, Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory was voted as the number one all-time progressive Rock album in a poll conducted by Rolling Stone, beating Rush's 2112 and Close to the Edge by Yes.

    Roll The Bones

    200 Gram Vinyl LP

From a lyrical perspective, 1991's Roll the Bones is quite possibly Rush's darkest album (most of the songs deal with death in no uncertain terms), but from a musical point of view, the record treads territory (highbrow melodic hard rock) similar to its recent predecessors, with only a few surprises thrown in for good measure. These include an amusing rap section in the middle of the title track, a welcome return to instrumentals with Where's my Thing?, and one of the band's finest songs of the '90s in the gutsy Dreamline. Neurotica is another highlight which lives up to its title, and though their negative subject matter can feel stifling at times, fine tracks like Bravado, The Big Wheel, and Heresy feature wonderful melodies and arrangements.

Features Etched Designs on Side D of the Album

By 1993, alternative rock had arrived in a big way, and surprisingly, Canadian veterans Rush were game, releasing their most honest and organic rock & roll record in over a decade with Counterparts. Opener Animate is straightforward enough, but doesn't even hint at the guitar ferocity and lyrical angst of Stick it Out, a song which undoubtedly polarizes Rush fans to this day.

Intellectual melodic rockers like Cut to the Chase, At the Speed of Love, and Everyday Glory are also present, but diversity continues to rule the day with Geddy Lee's bass taking charge on the amazingly somber Double Agent and the giddy instrumental Leave That Thing Alone. Pure hard rock resurfaces on Cold Fire, but it is the largely acoustic Nobody's Hero which provides the album's most gripping moment with an impassioned plea for HIV consciousness and understanding.
