    Live In Memphis

    Red Colored Vinyl

Only Known, Professionally Filmed Complete Big Star Concert!

The gig poster read: "BIG STAR IN THEIR FAREWELL U.S. PERFORMANCE." Luckily, this iconic Memphis band's homecoming show was
nothing of the kind. As Jody Stephens points out in his liner notes, "We
played Los Angeles three days later and went on to play together for
another 16 years. No one ever said anything about the poster."

Omnivore Recordings is proud to present Big Star's only known professionally filmed show in its entirety. Live In Memphis chronicles that
    October 29, 1994 performance.

Contains Big Star classics like "Thank You Friends," "September Gurls,"
and "The Ballad Of El Goodo," Chris Bell's "I Am The Cosmos," and
covers of T.Rex, The Kinks, Todd Rundgren and more, performed by Big
Star: Alex Chilton, Jody Stephens, and Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow
    from The Posies.

Also included are notes from filmmaker Danny Graflund, Ardent Studios'
John Fry, Jody Stephens, Jon Auer, and Ken Stringfellow. Per Omnivore tradition, the first pressing of the LP
will be 1,000 colored vinyl, with black to follow.

For the first time, you will not only be able to hear this legendary performance,
but see it, as well. You will be in the New Daisy Theatre experiencing

Celebrate 4 Decades Of A Wizard, A True Star On 2 Lp's For Maximum Audiophile Sound!

First Time Audiophile Vinyl Presentation Of This 1973 Masterwork!

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Bearsville Records Tapes

Features The Original LP Cover Elements Not Seen In Decades

As founding member of the late sixties Philly rockers Nazz, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and producer Todd
Rundgren was barely in his 20's when he began his long solo journey and became one of the music industry's most prolific and
    celebrated rock artists.

For his very lengthy (close to sixty minutes) 4th album A Wizard, A True Star, the legendary Todd Rundgren delivered a huge
album event complete with 19 stellar performances making this one of his most revered efforts of his four decade career. As with
many of his solo albums, Todd played all of the instruments, sang, wrote 17 of the 19 tunes and produced this masterwork. The
album also catapulted Todd Rundgren's marquee as a singer/songwriter even further with his smash radio hits Just One Victory,
Sometimes I Don't Know What to Feel and his brilliant Philly soul R&B Medley: I'm So Proud, Ooh Ooh Baby, La La Means I Love You
    and Cool Jerk.

Album opener International Feel immediately brings the listener onto a hypnotic prog-rock journey as only Todd Rundgren can
deliver. With solid tracks like You Need Your Head, filled with exceptional guitar work, solid lyrical imagery and his rockin' vocals, the
artist truly pours it all out on this album. More Todd favorites abound as When The Shit Hits The Fan: Sunset Blvd. sets the stage for
the rest of this masterwork into full swing.

Known to write some very key ballads in his long career, Todd nails one of his finest ever with his brilliant Philly soul sound
on the aforementioned Sometimes I Don't Know What to Feel. Soon to be followed with more classic rockers like pop infused Does
Anybody Love You and the iconic album closer Just One Victory, all would go on to become Todd Rundgren staples and some of his
    most enduring work ever recorded.

This amazing album hasn't been on vinyl for several decades that is until now Friday Music is honored to announce for the

When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog

Call it a curse: Jens Lekman's world is populated by an endless stream of women. There he is, his hair mussed and glasses off-kilter, sitting in the corner of the cafe with his journal once again - and he's being torn in two. Moments ago he fell in love with the redheaded barista who nailed his order - when she scooted that cappuccino across the counter, it was clear that there was a connection. And now, his eye catches the picture of divinity in the shape of the most finely featured brunette he's ever seen...and she's looking his way. But which way to go? It's tragic having to make such choices. Like Fellini's The Man Who Loved Women, Jens Lekman is a man forever at a crossroads between competing inspirations.

At only 23, Lekman has deservedly been the center of much hype in Scandinavia. Having made a name for himself performing under the name Rocky Dennis, he recently hit #2 on the Swedish National Pop Charts. Most everyone who's heard him believes him to be the next great pop star emerging from the streets of the DIY underground. With an angelic voice and golden ears he seems to be drinking from the same hard waters as The Carpenters, Harry Nilsson, The Magnetic Fields, Runt-era Todd Rundgren, Bill Callahan's Smog, The Modern Lovers, Rufus Wainwright and Belle & Sebastian.

    Live at the Old Waldorf

Limited Edition Of 660 Copies On Gold Vinyl

This limited edition double-LP release once again proves that there were very, very few bands in the late '70s that could match the stylistic sweep, musicianly chops, and quality of repertoire wielded by Todd Rundgren & Utopia. This August 5, 1978 set at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco captures the band at the beginning of an extensive U.S. tour, but it had already been a busy year of touring for Todd, as back in May he had assembled an all-star band for residencies at the Bottom Line in New York City and the Roxy in Los Angeles.

Performances from those shows that (along with a portion of an August 23 Utopia date from this tour) comprised the release of the double live LP Back to the Bars in December 1978, and fans of that album will find much to treasure here on this well-recorded release taken from the evening's stereo master tapes. Here you get a chance to hear Utopia back Todd on songs, like "Black and White" and "The Last Ride" (an epic version!), from which they were absent on Back to the Bars, and Live at the Old Waldorf offers such Utopia favorites as "Trapped," "Abandon City," "Back on the Street," and "Gangrene" from 1977's Oops! Wrong Planet that did not appear on Bars. Even more importantly, the band is on fire this night, displaying the rare mixture of note-perfect arrangements and improvisatory verve that made Todd Rundgren & Utopia such a must-see concert draw during the era.

One last note about this release: because Todd was such a dynamic live performer, there have been a series of authorized live "bootlegs" that have come out on CD in recent years, but very few have come out on LP; we have cherry picked what just may be the best of the bunch and put it on double gold vinyl inside a gatefold package limited to 660 copies. It belongs on your shelf right next to your other Rundgren records from the era don't miss it!

    Personal Record

At a time when most female singer-songwriters perform as alter
egos, Eleanor Friedberger is simply, refreshingly herself. And
that's just the way her fans like it. Having spent the last decade
fronting the indie-rock institution The Fiery Furnaces (currently
on hiatus) with her brother Matthew, in 2011 she emerged as a
formidable solo artist with Last Summer, a thoughtfully crafted
tale of memory and place couched in the organic pop of her
'70s idols. Instantly, Friedberger established herself as a modernday heir to the tradition of Donovan, Todd Rundgren, Ronnie
Lane, and their ilk: warm, nuanced, timeless songs.
    No gimmicks necessary.

The title of Friedberger's sophomore album is Personal Record,
and it is, in a sense. Personal, that is. But not personal in the way
of, say, a coming-of-age record, or a diary about the past, which
Last Summer was. Many of the songs seem to be about love, or
love lost, but whether any of the experience is hers or someone
else's, she isn't saying. "It's not as specific a narrative this time,"
she says. "There's a universality to it." So incisive are the lyrics,
in fact, that Friedberger's bassist incorrectly assumed that two of
the songs were about him. "I loved that," she says. "I want him
to feel like the songs are about him. I want you to feel like the
    songs are about you."

    Last Summer

Eleanor Friedberger is known for her work in Chicagos the Fiery Furnaces, a band she created with her brother Matthew at the turn of the millennium. Together they won a number of awards, sold out shows the world over and recorded nine albums. That experience, combined with the fact that the Fiery Furnaces arent breaking up, inspired her to make her first solo record, Last Summer.

In the music, you will hear the casual confrontation of the most emotionally direct Fiery Furnaces songs, plus a lot of snap, crackle and pop. In fact, in these songs made of memories, you will hear the future. Sparks, Donovan, Procol Harum, Kath Bloom, Lô Borges and Todd Rundgren too. Friedbergers phrasing is as good as anyones; even better, when the lines over and most other singers would leave it right there, shell throw in an unnecessary extra syllable.

    Ape School (Discontinued) (On Sale)

Michael Johnson arrived in Philadelphia a swamp-ape from the Florida panhandle to lead music technology studies at a downtown arts university. Instead, he discovered in its hallowed halls the derelict crown-jewel of archaic analog electronics with which he would forge his image of the Ape School. Armed with the Moog Modular synthesizer he helped revive-- just the fourth born and installed by the hands of Robert Moog 40 years earlier in 1965-- Johnson conjures original songs from beyond his prior tenures in Kurt Heasley's Lilys, and Sub Pop's Holopaw, using the Modular to weave lush motorik dreamsound throughout dynamic instrumentation and his distinct croon.

This second one-man-does-all album by Johnson--the first to use the animistic moniker-- marries primitive songs with incorporeal sound: glamatic pop explorations, navigated by studio light, coalesced over time, wine, fallouts, and Rundgren-style self-control.

From the resounding onset of Wail to God, to the song's oscillator outro barely two minutes later, the tonal breadth and sonic fluidity of Ape School is clear. A song like Did What I Did flirts with pop sensibility, but coheres in subtle feedback when repetition would normally devolve it to redundance. Elsewhere, as on My Intention and Deathstomp, Johnson commits to full mechanical shredding and focused romps of analog rock glory awash in system buzz. Other, more spacious moments like That's OK, It's Over, and The Underground reveal the songs' subtle instrumental basis, and bare the accidentally clever, eloquent lyrics of his elastic tenor.

Mixed in Jamaican Brooklyn with Michael Pecchio in a bath of reverb, delay, tape echo, smoke, mirrors, orange juice, and cayenne pepper, Ape School has finally congealed. Upon graduation from Primate U, this album, initially intended for release by co-conspirator Alfred Daedelus Darlington, finds a home at Ninja Tune's Counter Records.

With a band of student human musicians rescued from the confines of musical education, Ape School has opened its doors to limited faculty enrollment. Composed of previous cohorts in Lilys, Holopaw, Human Television, and beyond, the live Ape School incarnation takes one monkey's primordial creations on summer vacation to civilization. Evidently basted nightly.

First Time Audiophile Vinyl & Gatefold Cover Presentation Of This 1973 Masterwork!

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Bearsville Records Tapes

As founding member of the late sixties Philly rockers Nazz, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and producer
Todd Rundgren was barely in his 20's when he began his long solo journey and became one of the music industry's most
    prolific and celebrated rock artists.

For his 5th album Todd, the legendary Todd Rundgren delivered a huge double album event complete with 17 stellar
performances making this one of his most revered efforts of his four decade career. As with many of his solo albums, Todd
played mostly all of the instruments, sang, wrote and produced this masterwork. The album also catapulted Todd Rundren's
marquee as a singer/songwriter even further with his smash hit single A Dream Goes On Forever.

Album opener How About A Little Fanfare immediately brings the listener onto a hypnotic prog-rock journey as only
Todd Rundgren can deliver. With solid tracks like I Think You Know, filled with exceptional guitar work, solid lyrical imagery
and his soulful vocals, the artist truly pours it all out on this tune. More smashes abound as A Dream Goes On Forever sets
the other three sides of this masterwork into full swing.

Known to write some very key ballads in his long career, Todd nails one of his finest ever with his brilliant Philly soul
sound on The Last Ride. Soon to be followed with more hard rockers like his guitar driven Everybody's Going To Heaven/
King Kong Reggae and the iconic Heavy Metal Kids, the future electronica of In And Out The Chakras We Go, the soulful pop
of Izzat Love, and the superlative album closer Sons of 1984 all would go on to become Todd Rundgren staples and some

    TODD RUNDGREN'S DEBUT MASTERWORK!!!!

First Time Audiophile Vinyl & Gatefold Cover Presentation

Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray from the original Bearsville Records tapes

As founding member of the premiere late sixties power pop rockers Nazz, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter
and producer Todd Rundgren was barely in his 20's when he began his long solo journey with success as one of the music
industry's most prolific and celebrated rock artists.
His first solo album Runt showed a dazzling array of songs, displaying not only his rock and roll side but ventures into
jazz, R&B, eastern and blues. With help from his friends Hunt and Tony Sales, the power trio nailed one of the finest albums
of the classic rock era and also catapulted Todd Rundren's marquee as a singer/songwriter with his smash hit single We
    Gotta Get You A Woman.

Ever the rock journeyman, Todd Rundgren had already produced, mixed or played on albums by legendary recording
artists like The Band and Paul Butterfield. Always called on to bring his musical genius for others, his initial hit recordings
that make up the Runt album show how versatile and important the artist is. Check out his burning guitar riffs on album
opener Broke Down And Busted or the gritty country blues feel of Once Burned, plus the New York funk/jazz of I'm In The
Clique, three fan favorites that truly have stood the test of time.
Known to write a hit ballad more than a few times in his career, Todd goes on record early here with one of his finest
tracks ever with his brilliant Believe In Me. Followed closely by his masterpiece We Gotta Get You A Woman, even more pop
sounds continue with his classic medley Baby Let's Swing/The Last Thing You Said/Don't Tie My Hands, and the haunting
Beach Boys/Gregorian Chant feel of There Are No Words.

This amazing album hasn't been on vinyl for several decades that is until now Friday Music is honored to announce

    Hermit Of Mink Hollow

First Time Audiophile Vinyl And Gatefold Cover Presentation Of This 1978 Masterwork

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Bearsville Records Tapes

As founding member of the late sixties Philly rockers Nazz, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and producer Todd Rundgren was barely in his 20's when he began his long solo journey with success as one of the music industry's most prolific
    and celebrated rock artists.

For his masterpiece Hermit Of Mink Hollow, Todd Rundgren delivers 12 solid performances which made this one of his most revered efforts in the late 70's. As with many of his solo albums, Todd played all of the instruments, sang and produced this major fan favorite and nailed one of the finest albums of his career and also catapulted Todd Rundren's marquee as a singer/songwriter even further with his smash hit single Can We Still Be Friends.

Album opener All The Children Sing immediately brings the listener onto a magical journey as only Todd Rundgren can deliver. Filled with exceptional guitar work, solid lyrical imagery and his stellar vocals, the artist truly delivers a fine opening
track for this musical event. Followed quickly by two stellar ballads the aforementioned smash Can We Still Be Friends and the R&B infused Hurting For You, the LP continues to thrill the listener with even more Todd Rundgren staples like the hard rockin' Determination, the bossa nova groove of Too Far Gone, and his follow-up hit single You Cried Wolf.

Known to write some very key social commentary oriented songs in his long career, Todd nails some of his finest ever with his brilliant Bag Lady and Bread. Soon to be followed with more hard rockers like his guitar driven Out Of Control, the stellar piano ballad Lucky Guy, and the beautiful Fade Away which closes out the Hermit Of Mink Hollow album, making this one of the most important and finest albums of his career.

Released five years after Jennifer Warnes' breakthrough with Famous Blue Raincoat, The Hunter is a varied affair that features songs from Todd Rundgren (Pretending To Care), The Waterboys (The Whole Of The Moon), Donald Fagen (Big Noise, New York) and mentor Leonard Cohen who also guest appears (Way Down Deep), as well as some of her own original material. It's the voice that matters here and Jennifer Warnes' is truly crystalline. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, David Charles Shuford is the body behind Speer. After moving to New York City in the early 90s, Shuford forged a path as a musician adept in multiple sounds and styles. A member of the No Neck Blues Band for 15 years and running, he has also been involved with Enos Slaughter, The Suntanama, Egypt Is The Magick # and Coach Fingers.

After a self released debut solo LP Some Forgotten Country in 2007, Speer then sought out a public performance outlet with the Helix. His second solo LP Arghiledes brings a return focus upon acoustic instrumentation, with a still healthy dose of electric effects and speaker fry. Steeped in the sounds of the 1930s Piraeus Quartet, this selection of recordings is the outgrowth of a decade long engagement with the rich heritage of early 20th century Greek music.

Utilizing an array of traditional instrumentation (including trichordo bouzouki, baglamas, worry bead percussion on whiskey glass, zills and many more), Arghiledes is a work infused with improvisational fire. A true solo record in the overdub manner of Todd Rundgren and Tony McPhee, all sounds were performed, treated and mixed by D. Charles Speer.

1970 Set an Organic, Iconic Rock Landmark - In Special Textured Finish Gatefold Jacket

Record Shivers With Raw Emotions, Dark Confessionals, and Intense Singing

Half-Speed Mastered from the Original Analog Tapes: Transcendent Sound

A sharp stylistic and thematic detour away from its first two albums, the Band's Stage Fright is a compelling snapshot of a group coping with massive success and internal changes. Recorded in 1970 at the Woodstock Playhouse, the set shivers with raw emotions, dark confessionals, and intense singing. Largely devoid of the quintet's trademark all-for-one harmony vocals, Stage Fright is an utterly distinctive piece of the Band's catalog-and a historic landmark that's a necessary part of any music collection.

"When Stage Fright came about, all I was doing was feeling my way along. But, where everybody was in a huddle on both Big Pink and The Band, with Stage Fright it didn't feel like we were all connected in the same kind of way. In this period of experimentation in life, in music, in drugs, people kept wanting to stretch and reach and go somewhere and try things and, in the course of that, some real alienation can take place as well. When these things are chemically induced, you can feel an incredible shutdown of communication." -guitarist Robbie Robertson, as told to Rob Bowman

Such splintered camaraderie and personal demons appear in now-famous songs such as the title track, "The Shape I'm In," and "The W.S. Walcott Medicine Show." The music is rife with palpable tension, and as a credit to the Band's unique sound, absolutely singular. It's impossible to think of any other group playing these tunes. Robertson's balladic ode to his daughter, "All La Glory," featuring a gorgeous vocal turn from Levon Helm, provides a sunny contrast to the darker compositions.

Circumstances behind the recording sessions also reflected the mood. While the Band had intended to capture the album in one take in front of a small crowd at the theater, the town residents vetoed the idea due to concerns over being inundated by too many visitors. Consequently, the Band played to an audience of no one, sometimes with the curtains closed and other times, with them open. Todd Rundgren, who engineered the album, couldn't even see what was going on-he was sitting in a canvas prop tent that became the control room, behind the theater.

As always, Mobile Fidelity half-speed mastered this numbered limited-edition 180g LP from the original master tapes for a superior sonic experience. This analog edition of Stage Fright bursts with supreme tonal clarity and an airiness that brings the genius of Rundgren's preservation of high frequencies to complete realization. Even the fine textures of the hand drums on the stunning "Daniel and the Sacred Harp" come to light with microscopic detail. Perfectly blended, MoFi's Stage Fright takes its place as the most balanced and punchy record in the Band's oeuvre.

Stage Fright is part of Mobile Fidelity's effort to present the Band's timeless music in the highest fidelity possible.

Best Of The Boiler Room Classics

It's been over three years since Oscillate Wisely, the debut album from Mike Adams At His
Honest Weight. A lot has happened to all of us since then, but it was a particularly action-packed time for ol' Mike. His newborn son requiring emergency heart surgeries immediately
after birth (doing ne now!), his former rock band of nearly 10 years calling it quits, and plenty
of other heavy things have helped shape the follow-up, Best of Boiler Room Classics, into one
of the most believably moving albums to come around in a long time.

But forget about all that stu for a minute because we need to talk about how great these
SONGS are! And these are real songs, daddy! Verses, choruses, hooks, bridges, you know,
well-written timeless songs that at least some of us will be listening to 50 years from now. The
same mixing/mastering team of Adam Jessup & Eric Day have returned and have really taken
their time to make this album sound like exactly one million bucks. The thoughtful, hard work
that went into this record has resulted in something truly special, like a Midwestern Tusk made
by fun, lovable people who actually get along really well.

Best of Boiler Room Classics has the subtle, earnest warmth of an album like the Clientele's
Strange Geometry but with the arena-ready grandeur of ELO's Out Of The Blue. While there is
an unforgettable instant catchiness to these songs, there is a depth, both lyrically and musically,
that makes repeated listens a delight.

While this is not a country album by any means, songs like "Count On It" and "Don't Want It,
Don't Get It" nd Mike's comforting words gripping your heart like an old Roger Miller ballad.
Speaking of "Count On It", just wait until those actual strings kick in at 2:27! It'll do something
    to you!

What if the GBV albums on TVT had been produced by Cowboy Jack Clement?
What if The Wonders songs in That Thing You Do were actually performed by The Pernice
Brothers? What if Dee Dee Ramone wrote "Late For The Sky" instead of Jackson Browne?
What if Todd Rundgren engineered a Cass McCombs record?
