    Emotion

Emotion follows Jepsen's 2012 U.S. debut Kiss, which featured the viral smash, Call Me Maybe. Jepsen recorded Emotion in Los Angeles, New York and Stockholm, working with a bevy of producers and songwriters from across the musical spectrum. While the LP boasts contributions from proven pop hitmakers like Sia, Shellback (Taylor Swift, Maroon 5) and Greg Kurstin (Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry), it also features rising stars like Ariel Rechtshaid (Haim, Madonna), Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and Blood Orange mastermind DevontÉ Hynes.

I Had A Dream That You Were Mine

Includes Limited Edition 14-page Booklet Of Handwritten Lyrics

I Had A Dream That You Were Mine is an album of songs Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam wrote and recorded together between July, 2014 and February, 2016. In the spirit of collaborative albums, not unlike those of David Byrne and Brian Eno, each musician's individuality remains in tact, while in fact, on this record, both Hamilton's identity as a singer and Rostam's as a producer seem to reach new heights.

This was a record I d been wanting to make for at least a decade, Rostam says. As a fan of Hamilton's voice in the Walkmen I'd been wanting to capture it in ways it hadn't been captured before to make songs with him that placed the crooner right beside the howler, the screamer beside the whisperer to try to leave no stone unturned in terms of how we should approach the delivery of a song. And also to try to push his voice outside of any musical context it had lived in before.

Says Leithauser, Rostam's one-man-band process is so fundamentally different from the way I've always written songs, and it's very impressive. We had no idea what kind of music we were going to make we actually didn't know we were working on an album at first but unexpected things kept falling into place. We were writing and recording everything simultaneously it was flat-out inspiring just to be there.

Many of these songs seem to take place in a memory of New York's past, or wading through the waist high waters in a half-submerged New York of the future. Yet what unites them is that they tell stories. I Had A Dream That You Were Mine is an album, a collection of songs yes, but also a collection of narratives. 'The Bride's Dad' faithfully recounts an unexpected (an probably uninvited) guest at a friend's recent wedding; 'You Ain't That Young Kid' follows the wistful narrator through a night of lost love and transformed resolve.

From the doo-wop of 'When the Truth is...' to the country pedal steel of 'The Morning Stars'; from the piano and organ alchemy of the 'Band in A 1000 Times', to the Leonard Cohen-esque Spanish triplets of 'In a Black Out'; the album harnesses the exploding musical styles of midcentury America which, when melded with the warbled 1980s analogue synthesizers of 'You Ain't That Young Kid,' the ultramodern sub bass of 'Sick as a Dog,' the intimate falsetto of '1959,' and the raucous bar-room chorus of 'Rough Going' sparks an entirely unexpected and innovative style.

Discovery is the recording project of Rostam Batmanglij and Wes Miles, friends who began recording together in the summer of 2005. One year later they had committed themselves to their respective bands, Vampire Weekend and Ra Ra Riot, but nonetheless continued to record together when they both found themselves in the same city. The project is many things: it's partly an attempt to realize Wes' concept of a band where everyone plays synthesizers, and of Rostam's concept for an album where handclaps keep the backbeat instead of snares drums. It's an embrace and also a commentary on the pop music of the past decade, of booming 808 bass and jittery sixteenth note high-hats. Elements of European electronic dance music skittering in double-time over steady R&B. If soul music is secularized, sexualized gospel, Discovery is an attempt to see if soul music can survive being plasticized, roboticized, quantized, chopped, and finally, screwed. The album features Rostam and Wes each singing half the songs and guest vocals from Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) and Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projecters).

    Modern Vampires Of The City

Modern Vampires of the City is Vampire Weekend's third album, and it will be released on May 7th, 2013. The album is a bustling world of voices and visions - from the death of Henry Hudson to the Orthodox girl falling in love at an uptown falafel shop, from Hannah Hunt tearing up the New York
Times on a distant beach to the lethal chandelier of "Everlasting Arms", from the ardent yearning of "Don't Lie" to the harmonized voice of hope in "Young Lion".

For this album, Rostam Batmanglij and Ezra Koenig traveled to LA to collaborate with Rostam's longtime friend, and fellow producer, Ariel Rechtshaid. They brought with them writing and recording sessions from New York and Martha's Vineyard and began to stride towards realizing the finished album and were later joined by drummer Chris Tomson and bassist Chris Baio. Drums and bass were recorded to analog tape at Vox Studios. Built in the 1930's, it's one
of the oldest privately owned studios in Los Angeles. Those parts were then reintegrated with the sessions and further manipulated to create a synthesis of sound and tone, both old and new. Modern Vampires of the City has a grandeur and romanticism evocative of the city where it was conceived.

    Contra

2008 was quite a year for Vampire Weekend. After the release of their eponymous debut album in January, the New York quartet graced the cover of Spin Magazine, played on almost every television program from Saturday Night Live to David Letterman, and toured the world several times over including stops at the Coachella and Bonnaroo festivals. They regrouped in early 2009 to begin the recording of their sophomore album, Contra. Like their first, Contra was produced by keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij and is the realization of a whole and unique musical vision that sees the band stretching out and adding new textures, instrumentation, and rhythms into their sound. Primarily recorded in New York with a springtime sojourn to Mexico, Contra feels altogether fresh, joyous, and like nothing else, but is immediately recognizable as the sound of Vampire Weekend.

    Need Your Light

Need Your Light, the fourth full-length album from Syracuses Ra Ra Riot, is the sound of a bands reinvigoration. Correspondingly, the album sees the band getting back to their house party roots without abandoning the more heady soundscapes they explored with 2013s Beta Love.

The band pulled in producer Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello) in order to start fleshing out ideas. Shortly afterward a writing trip to Milwaukee, the band soon found themselves crafting Need Your Light with a host of previous collaborators including Ryan Hadlock (who produced 2008s The Rhumb Line) and Andrew Maury (who is a longtime friend, collaborator and live sound engineer also co-produced 2010s The Orchard). Also in the mix is Vamprire Weekends Rostam which despite a long history of working with the band (including the Discovery project) this marks the first time hes actually produced a track (Water and Need Your Light).

    Black Hours

Hamilton Leithauser announces his debut solo album Black Hours via Ribbon Music -
inaugurating a new chapter in an already remarkable career from The Walkmen front man. The album
brings Leithauser full circle and then some, from lonely midwinter piano-and-vocals sessions, to a
loud, live Rock n Roll group and back again. Featuring Leithauser with a slew of talented collaborators
including Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), Paul Maroon (The Walkmen), Morgan Henderson
(Fleet Foxes) and Richard Swift (The Shins/solo), the album showcases Leithauser at his most
    passionate, personal and free.

The video for the first single "Alexandra," which was directed by SXSW Film Festival Grand Jury award
winning director Tristan Patterson. The track was co-written by Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam
Batmanglij, the latter producing and mixing the track.

In its orchestrated rhythms, dynamic vocals, and generous production, Black Hours speaks from one
booming voice. The instrumentation provides muscle and texture: Maroon covering a wide range of
acoustic and electric guitars as well as grand piano; Batmanglij switching between guitar, harpsichord,
piano, bass and harmonica; Morgan Henderson from Fleet Foxes takes the marimba and upright bass,
and Richard Swift lays down impressive drums on seven tracks (Henderson & Swift will be accompanying
Leithauser on a full U.S. tour). Amber Coffman from the Dirty Projectors provides backing vocals on
several numbers and even Hugh McIntosh of Leithauser's first band, the Recoys, returns to the drum
stool for a pair of songs.

Principal recording was done in August 2013 at Vox Studios in Los Angeles, "the oldest private studio in
the world", where Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Johnny Mercer, and countless others cut demos before
appearing on air at NBC studios, just across Melrose Ave.

    Clear-Colored Vinyl

I don't make music for myself, says Santigold, matter-of-factly. I pay a lot of attention to that -- making music that's liked by more people than just myself. In a scene driven by bravado, few musicians would ruminate on the Zen-like balance behind creating truly gratifying art. But exploring that intersection between integrity and intrigue has always been central to this idiosyncratic musician's appeal. That, in turn, has culminated in her latest release, '99¢', an often-playful satire on the singer's brand.

The '99¢' album cover features me shrink-wrapped among a cluttered mess of things -- my life in a bag, she explains. It is about how everything is a packaged product for sale: how we package ourselves, our lives, our relationships.

It took roughly eight months to manifest her new vision, with assists from a mix of collaborators with poppier visions such as producers Patrick Berger (Robyn, Icona Pop) and John Hill (Florence and the Machine, Charli XCX), alongside eclectic talents known more for globe-trotting sounds such as Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek. She went into the studio with them intending to make a fun record. My last record had a seriousness to it, she says. This time around, it's more playful -- but still a commentary.

Today, any of her dissents veer toward the contemplative. I wanted to write some songs that felt very personal, she says. Before Santigold, in my other band, I used to write songs like journal entries. And I tried to write a couple of songs on this record where it was really about me and my experience. Though, in true Santigold form, she balances the introspective moments with humorous ones in songs like Who Be Loving Me, a lighthearted boast about fan adoration, produced by Zeds Dead and featuring ILoveMakonnen.

You could go around being annoyed all the time, or you can go, 'This is crazy and actually funny.' Then you can play around with it, and make great art, she says. This album has required me to be more open, less of a perfectionist. Ironically, that's made the prismatic '99¢' her most ambitious album to date. I realize that my work is a collage, she says. And I can pretty much take that anywhere.
