    Double Gatefold

Re-mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering

Cut at Trutone Mastering by Carl Rowatti

    Pressed at RTI

Hot Rocks 1964-1971 is the first compilation album of Rolling Stones music released by former manager Allen Klein's ABKCO Records (who gained control of the band's Decca/London material in 1970) after the band's departure from Decca and Klein. Released in late 1971, it proved to be The Rolling Stones' biggest-selling release of their career and an enduring and popular retrospective.

After reportedly having been duped by Klein to unknowingly sign over the recording copyrights to all of their material from 1963 to 1970, The Rolling Stones left Decca and formed their own label, Rolling Stones Records, with a new distributor. They recorded Sticky Fingers throughout 1970, releasing it the following spring. Although Klein-and now ABKCO-no longer had The Rolling Stones as clients, their fruitful catalogue was ripe for the picking and, thus, Hot Rocks 1964-1971 was quickly compiled as a double album greatest hits package.

While the album carries most of the band's biggest hits during their first decade, it does drop a few of them in order to include standout tracks such as Play With Fire, Under My Thumb and Gimme Shelter giving listeners a more well-rounded impression of The Rolling Stones' music in this era. Although Brown Sugar and Wild Horses are a part of Sticky Fingers, those two songs are co-owned by the band and Allen Klein because The Rolling Stones recorded the songs while they were still under contract to Decca.

    Exile On Main Street

Ranked 7/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Upon its original 1972 release more than three decades ago, Exile on Main Street innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. The 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richards' mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal 'Main Street' influenced the album title. These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album's outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the socio-political turbulence that marked the late `60s and early `70s.

The Stones nixed the influences of a flower-child era and directed their creative process with the edgier, excessive, more is more approach of the `70s. Exile reveals a sprawling mix of genres with undertones of blues, country, R&B and gospel mixed with lyrics that fervently demand for release and liberation.

The album pulled together an electric array of talent including Dr. John, the late Billy Preston, and pianist Nicky Hopkins. Guitarist Mick Taylor, who replaced Brian Jones in the band shortly before Jones died in 1969, is a magnificent blues player who brought an intensity and elegance to these epic tracks. At times, these musicians and others lived on the recording studio premises with the band creating an extremely open and creative collaboration for the album.

Beggars Banquet is the seventh British and ninth American studio album by the English rock band The Rolling Stones. It was released in December 1968 by Decca Records in the United Kingdom and London Records in the United States. It marked a return to the band's R&B roots, generally viewed as more primal than the conspicuous psychedelia of Their Satanic Majesties Request. It also started off a string of four LPs that is usually regarded as the band's finest work.

    Blue & Lonesome

Pressed On Two 180 Gram LPs And Housed In A Gatefold Sleeve

"This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do."

-Don Was, Co-Producer of 'Blue & Lonesome'

The Rolling Stones are set to release 'Blue & Lonesome', their first studio album in over a decade. Recorded in just three days in London, England, 'Blue & Lonesome' takes the band back to their roots and the passion for blues music which has always been at the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones.

Their approach to the album was that it should be spontaneous and played live in the studio without overdubs. The band - Mick Jagger (vocals & harp), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ronnie Wood (guitar) were joined by their long time touring sidemen Darryl Jones (bass), Chuck Leavell (keyboards) and Matt Clifford (keyboards) and, for two of the twelve tracks, by old friend Eric Clapton, who happened to be in the next studio making his own album.

'Blue & Lonesome' sees the Rolling Stones tipping their hats to their early days as a blues band when they played the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf - artists whose songs are featured on this album.

    Some Girls

Ranked 269/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Stones' Classic Remastered on 180 gram LP

Universal Music Group and The Rolling Stones present the remastered version of their groundbreaking 1978 album, Some Girls, which introduced the band to a whole new generation of fans. Justly considered one of the finest works by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Ronnie Wood, Some Girls topped the US charts over three decades ago and remains the best selling album of their storied career.

Some Girls is the Rolling Stones' most direct and diverse collection of material from Mick Jagger's irresistible falsetto on the four-on-the-floor filler Miss You, their eighth U.S. #1, to the country-flavored Far Away Eyes via the Chuck Berry meets punk snarl of Respectable. And let's not forget the sensuous, Beast of Burden, one of Keith Richards' finest tunes, which reached #8 on the U.S. singles chart, the garage rocker Shattered, the albums' third U.S. Top 40 entry, and the soulful swagger of the group's version of The Temptations' Just My Imagination, another timeless offering in their canon of classic Stones Motown covers.

Following the critical praise and commercial success afforded the re-mastered, expanded editions of Exile On Main Street, which matched the chart performance of the epochal 1972 album, and returned the Rolling Stones to their rightful place at the top of the British charts in 2010, the extensive reissue of Some Girls constitutes the next step in the band's ongoing relationship with Universal Music Group.

Some Girls holds a special place in the history of the Rolling Stones and demonstrates why they remain one of the most thrilling and influential bands of all time. The 1978 album features the Keith Richards' classic Before They Make Me Run, a signature song he still performs defiantly to this day. Some Girls documented Mick Jagger's love of 1970's funk reflected in Miss You, the dance track that wrong footed many people, made the club and black charts, and made it okay for other mainstream acts at the time to 'go disco'.

The 1978 album also courted controversy because of Jagger's tongue-in-cheek lyrics on the title track, on Miss You and on Respectable, perceived as a retort to the punk and new wave groups who had borrowed so much attitude and copped so many anti-establishment moves from the Rolling Stones. Ironically, the furor around the elaborate Some Girls package, designed by Peter Corriston and featuring the band members in drag, a nod in the direction of the picture on the 1966 single Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow? and likenesses of Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Raquel Welch, Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe that hadn't been legally cleared, necessitating a swift withdrawal and rethink.

Some Girls demonstrated the distinctive and definitive riffing from Keith Richards, with its abundance of unstoppable licks and majestic power chords driving the band into its brand new musical direction. This album not only defined him and his playing, but also defined a new era for the Rolling Stones, with Richards since described as a sense of renewal. Some Girls marks the only other time since recording Satisfaction where Richards used an effects pedal to 'elevate' the sound.

The album cemented the position of guitarist Ronnie Wood, who had joined in 1975, and added his trademark slide and pedal steel playing to several of the album's most memorable tracks, including When the Whip Comes Down and Shattered. He also co-wrote the Shattered B-side Everything Is Turning To Gold. Some Girls also marked a move to the Pathe Marconi Studios in Paris for the Glimmer Twins production team of Jagger and Richards. These factors helped what is arguably the group's most focused and dynamic album, driven by the sans pareil rhythm section of drummer Charlie Watts and bassist Bill Wyman.

Some Girls featured fewer guest musicians than any Rolling Stones album since 1971, but the contributions keyboard-player Ian McLagan, Wood's bandmate in The Faces, saxophone-player Mel Collins, and harmonica player Sugar Blue (discovered busking on the Paris metro), made Miss You in particular sound brighter than ever.

Thirty-three years on from its original release, the re-mastered vinyl edition of Some Girls shows exactly why the 1978 album has often been hailed as the equal of Exile On Main Street. The album stands as both a time capsule and a timeless listen and it features the band at their tightest and toughest, at their most vibrant and vital.

    Get Yer YaYa's Out

    180 Gram Clear Vinyl

Recorded during their American tour in late 1969, and centered around live versions of material from the Beggars Banquet-Let It Bleed era. Often acclaimed as one of the top live rock albums of all time, its appeal has dimmed a little today. The live versions are reasonably different from the studio ones, but ultimately not as good, a notable exception being the long workout of Midnight Rambler, with extended harmonica solos and the unforgettable section where the pace slows to a bump-and-grind crawl. Some Stones aficionados, in fact, prefer a bootleg from the same tour (Liver Than You'll Ever Be, to which this album was unleashed in response), or their amazing the-show-must-go-on performance in the jaws of hell at Altamont (preserved in the Gimme Shelter film). Fans who are unconcerned with picky comparisons such as these will still find Ya-Ya's an outstanding album, and it's certainly the Stones' best official live recording.

    What's Going On

Ranked 6/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Marvin Gayes Whats Going On was a landmark recording and is considered one of the greatest albums ever made. Rolling Stone named it Album Of The Year when it came out and, in 2003, it was ranked number 6, the highest for a non-rock album, in Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. Originally, the title cut was recorded as a single, and Motown chief Berry Gordy refused to release it, citing that it was too personal and political. What's Going On became Motown's fastest-selling single at that point, going to the number one spot on the R&B charts for five weeks and number two for three weeks on the Pop listings, which lead Gordy to request a full album's worth of material.

What's Going On, the single, was recorded in June of 1970. The remainder of the album was recorded in March-May of 1971 and was released on May 21st of that year. It was produced entirely by Marvin Gaye.

I Do Not Play Rock 'n' Roll

This 1969 release by the legendary Mississippi Fred McDowell was his first to feature him playing the electric guitar. Although it was somewhat controversial at the time it is now considered a classic. Fred sounds like he has always been plugged in, playing with fiery passion, including some great bottleneck guitar. Featuring all originals by Fred including, You Got To Move (covered by the Rolling Stones on Sticky Fingers) and Kokomo Me Baby, except for a cover of Joe Williams Baby Please Don't Go. This new reissue features the original 9 tracks that were on the 1969 release.

Ranked 108/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

It's difficult for American listeners to remember this, but like the recordings of the Beatles and nearly all other British groups of the '60s, the Rolling Stones' first several albums did not make it across the Atlantic in one piece. Prior to ABKCO's comprehensive 2002 reissue program, the US versions of the Stones' early albums were the de facto standards, but particularly in the case of 1966's AFTERMATH, the UK album was very different.

The track lineup is shuffled and expanded to create a much different mood. Paint It Black is gone, replaced as the opening track by the snotty social commentary of Mother's Little Helper, which--when followed by Stupid Girl, Lady Jane, Under My Thumb, and Dontcha Bother Me--is like a pentathlon of punky misogyny capped by the grinding blues jam Goin' Home. Side Two is more emotionally varied but just as musically far-reaching, adding the poppy Take It Or Leave It and What To Do to an already strong set of tunes centered on the stunning full-length version of Out of Time that for some reason had never been released in the United States before this belated reissue.

Ranked 355/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Between the Buttons is the fifth British and seventh American studio album by The Rolling Stones. It was released on 20 January 1967 in the United Kingdom and 11 February 1967 in the United States as the follow-up to the ambitious Aftermath. Between the Buttons is seen as the beginning of the Stone's first complete departure from their R&B roots and the beginning of their brief foray into psychedelia.

Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass)

Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) is the first official compilation album by The Rolling Stones, released on 28 March 1966, on London Records in the US and on 4 November 1966, by Decca Records in the UK. The two releases featured different cover art and track listing. The front cover for the American release was used for the rear photo on the UK edition.

The album cover photo (US edition) was shot at Franklin Canyon Park in Los Angeles, California.

Reaching #3 on the US charts, where it remained for two years, Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) proved to be a big smash and currently remains a popular Rolling Stones retrospective.

The UK Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) includes tracks released after the American edition appeared. The Rolling Stones' debut 1963 single, a cover of Chuck Berry's Come On, was included, but its more successful follow-up, I Wanna Be Your Man - composed by rivals (although in reality as friends) Lennon-McCartney - was left off the album.

The Who: The Studio Albums (Box Set)

A Quick One Ranked 383/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.

The most explosive live act ever to appear on stage, The Who stands alone in rock music. Propelled by the most staggeringly brilliant rhythm section in all popular music, layered with deafening power chords and thunderous vocal fury, The Who transcended its original billing as "Maximum R&B" to become the most musically inventive and structurally innovative band of all time.

Together, the four divergent personalities of The Who produced a hurricane. Each member of the group was a pioneer. Wildman drummer Keith Moon beat his kit with a chaotic elegance; stoic bassist John Entwistle held down the center with the melodic virtuosity of a solo guitarist; raging intellectual Pete Townshend punctuated the epic universality of his songs with the windmill slamming of his fingers across his guitar strings; and Roger Daltrey roared above it all with an impossibly virile macho swagger.

They exploded conventional rhythm and blues structures, challenged pop music conventions, and redefined what was possible on stage, in the recording studio, and on vinyl. Never before or since has spiritual and intellectual brilliance sounded so gloriously furious!

Alone among the great bands, The Who has found itself at the center of every major rock event from Monterey, Woodstock, and the Isle of Wight to the Concert for Kampuchea, Live Aid, and the Concert for NYC. In any era, The Who is a true touchstone for rock and roll greatness. They have sold over 100 million albums and won every award including Grammys, Brit Awards and Lifetime Achievement and have been inducted into both the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and UK Music Hall of Fame!

    Remastered From Original Analogue Masters

With Faithfully Replicated Original Album Art

John Lennon's eight solo studio albums, remastered from their original analogue masters, have been newly cut to vinyl from 96k digital files for Lennon, a new 9LP boxed collection on heavyweight, 180-gram vinyl with faithfully replicated original album art. Released by Capitol, the collection's albums are all out-of-print worldwide on vinyl, with the exception of previous LP remasters of Imagine and Rock 'n' Roll which are in print in the United States. Lennon is the first complete collection of John Lennon's solo studio albums to be released on vinyl.

The albums were remastered from John Lennon's original mixes in 2010 by Yoko Ono and a team of engineers led by Allan Rouse at Abbey Road Studios in London and by George Marino at Avatar Studios in New York. The new vinyl masters were cut by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios and the LPs have been manufactured for the world by Optimal Media in Germany.

Each of the Lennon collection's LPs is an authentic reproduction of its U.K. original, in its sound and visual presentation. In keeping with the original album artwork, Imagine contains reproductions of its two postcards, poster and inner bag, Some Time In New York City includes reproductions of its original postcard and inner sleeve, Walls and Bridges includes its sleeve with two fold-over flaps, an eight-page booklet and inner sleeve, and Mind Games, Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey also include reproductions of their original inner sleeves.

John Lennon is one of the world's most celebrated songwriters and performers of all time. Lennon has been posthumously honored with a Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY® Award and two special BRIT Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Music, and he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2008, Rolling Stone ranked him in the Top 5 of the magazine's 100 Greatest Singers Of All Time list.

Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol 2)

    180 Gram Clear Vinyl

This album was spawned by three coinciding events -- the need to acknowledge the death of band co-founder Brian Jones (whose epitaph graces the inside cover) in July of 1969; the need to get Honky Tonk Women, then a huge hit single, onto an LP; and to fill the ten-month gap since the release of Beggars Banquet and get an album with built-in appeal into stores ahead of the Stones' first American tour in three years. The fact that the Stones had amassed a sufficient number of hits since their last greatest-hits compilation in early 1966 (Big Hits: High Tide and Green Grass) made this a no-brainer, and its song lineup was as potent at the time as any compilation of hit singles by any artist. From the group's excursions into fey psychedelia (Paint It, Black, Ruby Tuesday, She's a Rainbow, Dandelion), space rock (2000 Light Years From Home), punk decadence (Mother's Little Helper), and back to straight-ahead rock & roll (Jumpin' Jack Flash), some of it with a topical edge (Street Fighting Man), it's all incredibly potent, though also redundant to the extent that Ruby Tuesday and Let's Spend the Night Together had previously appeared on two U.S. albums. The presence of Honky Tonk Women propelled it to gold record status upon release on both sides of the Atlantic, although the simultaneously released British version (long out of print, except as a bootleg CD) is different and more confusing, but also more diverse and rewarding musically than the American version. Both this album and Big Hits: High Tide and Green Grass have been supplanted by Hot Rocks and More Hot Rocks, but are still handy in their tight respective focuses.

Live At The Checkerboard Lounge 1981

    White & Black Vinyl

On 22 November 1981, in the middle of their mammoth American tour, the Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to playing 3 nights at the Rosemont Horizon. Long influenced by the Chicago blues, the band paid a visit to Muddy Waters' club the Checkerboard Lounge to see the legendary bluesman perform. It didn't take long before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart were joining in on stage and later Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz also played their part. It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera. Now, restored from the original footage and with sound mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain, this amazing blues night is being made available in an official release for the first time.

    Mr. Tambourine Man

Ranked 232/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

One of the greatest debuts in the history of rock, Mr. Tambourine Man was nothing less than a significant step in the evolution of rock & roll itself, demonstrating that intelligent lyrical content could be wedded to compelling electric guitar riffs and a solid backbeat. It was also the album that was most responsible for establishing folk-rock as a popular phenomenon, its most alluring traits being Roger McGuinn's immediately distinctive 12-string Rickenbacker jangle and the band's beautiful harmonies. The material was uniformly strong, whether they were interpreting Bob Dylan (on the title cut and three other songs, including the hit single All I Really Want to Do), Pete Seeger (The Bells of Rhymney), or Jackie DeShannon (Don't Doubt Yourself, Babe). The originals were lyrically less challenging, but equally powerful musically, especially Gene Clark's I Knew I'd Want You, I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better, and Here Without You; It's No Use showed a tougher, harder-rocking side and a guitar solo with hints of psychedelia
