Dirty Rice (Awaiting Repress)Mad Caddies' first full length in seven years!
Read what bass player Graham Palmer had to say about circling back to where it all began:
After a few years of writing and pre-production, we took the songs back to where it all started for the band - at our drummer's studio on his parents' ranch in Santa Ynez, California. After Fat Mike came down in September to help us sort through about 25 song ideas, we emerged at the end of the year with the twelve tracks that became Dirty Rice. Good GracesJohnathan Rice has done his best work to date on his third full length LP Good Graces (SQE Music). When asked about his collection of songs, Rice spoke candidly about his attempt to make what he called healing music. Good Graces is by far the most revealing portrait of Rice thus far. I want everyone to feel what I felt while making the record, he leaves off. It was my intention to put something positive out there. I hope you can feel the sincerity of that attempt.1. Acapulco Gold

My Favourite Faded FantasyMy Favourite Faded Fantasy is Damien Rice's first collection of material in eight years and was produced by Rick Rubin and Rice himself. It is a selection of songs, which Rice says are "sung straight into the metaphorical mirror." Intimate, frank and revitalized by making music again, My Favourite Faded Fantasy is a record that accepts one's faults but also begins, perhaps, to appreciate one's ability to grow up. The recording process began in Los Angeles and finished up with a cast of friends and local musicians against the stunning backdrop of Reykjavik, Iceland.LP 1

Fans of the Stax catalog will note that some of these songs have appeared elsewhere, including various volumes of the massive The Complete Stax/Volt Soul Singles series. This is a solid, unified holiday album offering some hot tracks that will raise the temperature of any holiday gathering. Grrr...Fronted by Justin Rice and Christian Rudder, Bishop Allen is best known for making and self-releasing an EP each month for an entire year, then reworking some of the best songs for a highly acclaimed label debut (The Broken String). The rigorous EP project, and the extensive touring that has followed it, have allowed Bishop Allen to hone their craft: writing, performing and recording music.
The resulting album, Grrr..., reveals that after five years of comparisons to other artists like Jonathan Richman, The Kinks, Bright Eyes, Spoon, etc., in rave reviews from Rolling Stone, SPIN, Entertainment Weekly and many others, Bishop Allen has developed an artistry and sound that are unmistakably their own. One thing that distinguishes Bishop AllenÆs music is the quality of the writing. RiceÆs literate lyrics, which The Los Angeles Times has praised for their ôpoetic insight,ö have a universality that has made them resonant to listeners of all ages and earned them champions ranging from the young comic actor Michael Cera to the National Public Radio host Scott Simon.
Each of the 13 tracks comprising Grrrà is a succinct composition, and yet the album also coheres seamlessly as a song cycle. The melody and/or rhythm of one track is often contiguous with the next. As always, Rice and Rudder are responsible not only for the writing, but the lionÆs share of the playing and the recording: the guitars, pianos, marimbas, ukeleles and vocals. And, as before, Darbie Nowatka shares in the singing. Otherwise, the album features contributions from a number of their friends: drums and percussion by Michael Tapper, horns by Jon Natchez and Kelly Pratt, and strings by Daniel Hart. Bryce Goggin (Pavement, The Apples in Stereo, Luna, Sebadoh) offered the band some invaluable production tips and, at his famed Trout Recording studio in Brooklyn, recorded the drums and mixed the album.1. Strangers AlmanacWhiskeytown, a highly acclaimed founding band of the alt-country/No Depression scene, launched the solo career of four-time Grammy®-nominated singer-songwriter-guitarist Ryan Adams as well as that of fiddler-singer-songwriter Caitlin Cary. Now the groups 1997 major label debut album, an overlooked gem from a band considered one of the genres most promising, is being released for the first time ever on vinyl.
1997's Strangers Almanac was Whiskeytown's major-label debut and the album that first introduced Ryan Adams to a wide audience, but at the same time it marked the beginning of the end for the group. When Whiskeytown went into the studio to record Strangers Almanac, the band had undergone the first of what would become a long line of personnel shakeups, and in addition to Ryan Adams, the only proper members of the group on hand for the sessions were violinist and vocalist Caitlin Cary and guitarist Phil Wandscher; session musicians filled out the lineup, while the new rhythm section, Jeff Rice (bass) and Steve Terry (drums), was hired only two weeks before recording began. Despite its chaotic creation, Strangers Almanac sounds stronger and more cohesive than its ragged but forceful indie predecessor, Faithless Street, and there's a deeper resonance in Ryan Adams' tales of wasted nights and wasted lives, such as Inn Town, Losering, and Dancing with the Women at the Bar. Strangers Almanac doesn't rock as hard as Whiskeytown's earlier material, but when the guitars kick into high gear on Yesterday's News and Waiting to Derail, it reveals just how good a match Ryan Adams and Wandscher were, and Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart Tonight and 16 Days are as strong and moving as their country gestures got. Strangers Almanac captures Whiskeytown when they still had some business calling themselves a band rather than just Ryan Adams' backing musicians, and the glorious world-weariness of its best moments makes it a far more satisfying listen than most of what would follow once Ryan Adams struck out on his own.1. Gentle Ben (45 RPM)That Rich, Humid, Giant Sax Tone Blooms Like On Few Other Webster Recordings
Mastered By Kevin Gray At Cohearent Audio
200-Gram Gatefold 45 RPM Double LP Pressed At Quality Record Pressings
...Webster's trademark sensual sound is on full display and, of course, he's backed by Montoliu, an outstanding Spanish piano veteran who accompanied all the great jazz artists passing through Europe...This is one of the first releases by Analogue Productions pressed at their new in-house pressing plant Quality Record Pressings, and the record bears a close resemblance in appearance to records from Pallas - beautiful looking and perfectly quiet...The superb 200-gram LP comes in a rice paper sleeve and jacket of heavy cardboard...Highest Recommendation. Recording = 10/10; Music = 8.5/10 - Dennis D. Davis, Hi-Fi+, Issue 81
This recording was made 10 months before Ben Webster's death in 1972. Webster, who had left the United States in 1965 to settle in Europe - first in Copenhagen and then in Amsterdam - was visiting fellow musician and friend Tete Montoliu in Barcelona. Webster and pianist Montoliu went back a ways, having played together regularly in Webster's Copenhagen days. In fact, Montoliu cited Webster and Don Byas as his two chief musical influences. Webster and Montoliu understood each other deeply, and their comfort with on another is palpable in this recording. Their accompaniment of one another is seamless. On board with these two is Montoliu's regular working trio-mates, Eric Peter on bass and Peer Wyboris on drums.
There's no shortage of Webster's trademark breathy, fat tenor tone here. In fact, given the sparse arrangement, that rich, humid, giant sax blooms like on few other recordings. Highlights include Ben's Blues, Sweet Georgia Brown, The Man I Love and Don't Blame Me.

xx (pronounced multiply) is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran is blessed - he seems to know exactly where he is going, and exactly how to get there. Where countless others fail to make an impression amid today's information overload, Ed's music and talent cut straight through.
He has a poise that is as welcome as it is unusual in someone so young. He's both utterly self-assured but still charmingly open. He has a confidence that's built not on being able to sing someone else's song quite nicely on a teatime TV show, but on hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of gigs where it's just him, his guitar, a loop pedal and a crowd.
Ed grew up in Suffolk where he learnt to play an old guitar given to him by an uncle. Spurred on by a chance meeting with the aforementioned Rice when he was 11, Ed started writing songs. Aged 16, he moved to London - into a flat above the T-Bird pub in Finsbury Park - with only one thing on his mind: playing gigs, as many as he could and as often as he could.
One night Ed played a tiny bar in North London whose website listed every young promoter in town. That night Ed Myspaced them all and a few days later he had nearly a hundred new gigs lined up. A pattern began to emerge - all day in the studio, all night playing gigs. From the early days Ed would sell CDs of his songs out of his backpack, putting cash in his pocket to get to the next gig, but also planting a flag in people's minds that here was music that was worth paying for. Not satisfied by CDs alone, fans have flocked to his website to pick up everything from hoodies to jewellery.
When Ed was told by his then management that he would need to conform to succeed - including dying his hair, and giving up his unique delivery - Ed responded by writing the cult song, 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'. Over the next year he released five EPs, each one totally different, each one totally him. There was a singer-songwriter one, a live from The Bedford one, one written with singer Amy Wadge. Each sold better than the last.
After two years of constant gigging and sofa surfing, Ed recorded a live version of 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' for leading urban YouTube channel, SBTV. The clip got 100K hits in two days and is now approaching 1.5M views. A few days later, he wrote what would become his first major label release, 'The A Team': a story about a girl he met whilst working at a homeless shelter. The video for that has just surpassed 1M views.
By the time Ed released the final EP - No. 5 Collaborations, which featured the who's who of UK hip hop and grime: Devlin, Wretch 32, Dot Rotten, P Money, JME and Wiley, the support was so strong it propelled Ed to Number 2 in the iTunes album chart after just 24 hours. The only artist selling more copies was Rihanna. When Elton John called his mobile to congratulate him, Ed realised quite how big things had got. Amid interest from numerous labels Ed shortly signed with Asylum - part of Atlantic Records.LP 1

AnchorsFeaturing Special Guest Sheryl Crow On Little Bit Of Rust
"I hit a wall," says Will Hoge. "I was doing the best touring of my career and I had a great, steady gig writing songs, but I was falling out of love with being in a band. I had to figure out what was next."
For Hoge, what came next was a quest to reclaim the joy and the magic that had drawn him to music in the first place. He let his band go and hit the road for roughly a year of solo shows, crisscrossing the country by himself with just a guitar and a keyboard. He felt rejuvenated by the freedom and began writing material that reenergized him, that made him feel like a kid falling in love with rock and roll all over again. Those songs ignited a dormant flame somewhere deep within his soul, and now they form the bulk of Anchors, his strongest and most nuanced album to date.
Recorded with an all-star band comprised of drummer Jerry Roe (Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, Darius Rucker), bassist Dominic Davis (Jack White, Wanda Jackson), and guitarists Brad Rice (Son Volt, Ryan Adams) and Thom Donovan (Lapush, Ruby Amanfu), the album is a prime showcase for Hoge's soaring, gritty vocals, as well as his remarkable gift for crafting complex characters with real emotional depth and plainspoken profundity. Over the course of eleven tracks (including one with special guest Sheryl Crow), Hoge weaves elements of vintage country, literate folk, and heartland rock into a passionate, genre-busting masterpiece, one that offers an unflinching portrait of the messy challenges of adulthood and the ways in which we persevere (or don't) through hard times.
Beginning with the release of his acclaimed 2001 debut, Carousel, Hoge established himself as a masterful songwriter and performer as well as a critical favorite, with Rolling Stone comparing him to Bob Seger and John Mellencamp and NPR praising his "sharp, smart, passionate rock 'n' roll that seems to exist out of time." He built up a loyal fanbase the old fashioned way, maintaining a steady studio output and a relentless touring schedule of more than 200 shows a year, including bills with the likes of My Morning Jacket, the Black Crowes, and Drive-By Truckers, in addition to festival slots from Bonnaroo to Austin City Limits. In 2012, the Eli Young Band hit #1 on the Billboard Country chart with their Platinum-selling recording of Hoge's song "Even If It Breaks Your Heart," earning Hoge nominations for CMA, ACM, and GRAMMY Awards. Soon he was performing everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry to The Late Show with David Letterman, his music was soundtracking a high-profile Chevy truck campaign, and he'd signed a major publishing deal.
When the inspiration ran dry, though, Hoge took a gamble on himself and walked away from it all in order to pursue the kind of art that truly moved him, to make something that mattered. If Anchors is any indication, it was a safe bet indeed.1. The Reckoning

Moody Blue180 Gram Audiophile Translucent BLUE Vinyl
Mastered Impeccably by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray from the Original RCA Records tapes
Manufactured at R.T.I
Elvis Aaron Presley was born during the Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during the early
fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, he cut some demos at Sun Studios as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys. These initial songs,
of which he had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide
superstar unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly bought out his contract
and signed the legend to a long-term deal, and his first RCA single Heartbreak Hotel forever etched "The King of Rock and Roll" trademark
to his name.
Over the next three decades, Elvis Presley would release dozens of hit albums and tons of smash singles, spend time in the Army, star
in over 35 top charting films, as well as sell out concert tours around the states and Canada making him the most successful solo artist of all
time. In 1977, his career ignited even further thanks to his highly successful tour and his much anticipated newly released LP Moody Blue.
Already gaining popularity in advance thanks to two chart single smashes Moody Blue and Way Down, this masterwork album
included a treasure trove of studio and concert performances that captured a very great time in the musical history of this iconic legend.
In addition to the wonderful hit singles aforementioned, The King reaches back to his early Memphis days with a tribute to Johnny Ace
with Pledging My Love and more fifties classics like The Diamonds' Little Darlin' and Jim Reeves' country smash He'll Have To Go.
Even more hits abound with sensational interpretations of Al Hibbler's classic Unchained Melody which also hit the top ten of the
country music charts, a gospel rockin' version of Let Me Be There and a brilliant reading of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice's classic It's
Easy For You.
Sadly, this was Elvis Presley's final album as he passed away suddenly on August 16, 1977. The world was never the same after the
tragic news was told that day, as hoards of fans journeyed to his beloved Graceland to pay their heartfelt tribute to The King of Rock and Roll.
Elvis Presley's Moody Blue album, of course already a huge seller prior to his death, would go on to become one of his biggest albums
ever, as fans rushed to the stores to buy his final masterwork. Initially pressed on BLUE vinyl, this amazing album has been out of print on
vinyl for several decades that is until now!

North HillsAs you begin to listen to Dawes' debut album and especially songs like the bittersweet That Western Skyline and the patient Love Is All I Am, you start to realize that this band isn't interested in the bells and whistles. The Los Angeles quartet, Taylor Goldsmith (vocals, guitar), Griffin Goldsmith (drums, vocals), Wylie Gelber (bass) and Tay Strathairn (piano, vocals) seem to get all their musicianship and expression across through the inherent nature of the instruments. They seem to have their utmost respect for the song itself, only stepping out when a song calls for it, relying on the other to keep the holes filled and the ship sailing smoothly, letting the music reflect their own personal relationships to the listener.
Recorded live to tape (all analog) at Canyonsound Studio in Laurel Canyon, CA. Produced by Jonathan Wilson (Elvis Costello, Johnathan Rice, Jenny Lewis) and mastered by Rob Fraboni (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton) at Effortless Mastering in Weston, CT.1. That Western Skyline

With a vocal timbre reminiscent of Ray Lamontagne, and an emotive, spacious sensibility in the vein of Damien Rice, Bear Mountain performs with powerful release and vulnerable honesty.
Certain songs make you feel younger. It's something more than nostalgia; there's a joyous enthusiasm in some music that doesn't bring you back to the time you were young, but back to the sensation of being young. The Voyager is Lewis' most deeply personal album to date, documenting her struggle to cope following the death of her estranged father in 2010 and the subsequent break-up of Rilo Kiley. The Voyager's rootsy, golden glow comes courtesy of Lewis and the artists she chose to produce various tracks, including Ryan Adams (who, alongside Mike Viola, produced all but three of the tracks), Beck, and Lewis' longtime collaborator Johnathan Rice. The Voyager finds the always relatable songwriter at her sharp-witted best, singing about her recent experiences with honesty and incisiveness.1. Head Underwater

In 2009, the original plan for Lamb's Lou Rhodes and Andy Barlow was to play a handful of summer festivals. A year and a half and 33 shows later, they've recorded a new album: 5. Eight years after Between Darkness And Wonder, the inspirational fires have been rekindled and we get to reap the benefits of Lamb's creative reawakening.
The juxtaposition of beat driven programming submerged by an electronic framework and poetry set to transcendental singer/songwriter melodies is still at the heart of their sound, but the (solo) experiences of the past few years have added greater depth and strength to their sound. A welcome and warranted comeback.

The Art Of Self Defense180g double vinyl version from Southern Lord in Stoughton gatefold jacket with 20 page bound in 12" x 12" book and printed inner-sleeves.
Cult metal favorite High On Fire was founded by former Sleep guitarist Matt Pike in the summer of 1998. Berthed out of the need to simply play guitar again, Pike jammed with and settled on a line-up of powerhouse drummer Des Kensel and longtime guitarist compatriot George Rice, who made the switch to bass to round out the trio. They had scarcely been together for a few months before demoing three songs. That demo, featuring "Master of Fists" and instant classics "10,000 Years" and "Blood from Zion," became among the most sought-after tapes in the underground metal scene. High On Fire got straight to the point, bashing away with a neanderthal sense of purpse and creating hyptnotic, droning waves of powerful riffs and low-end thunder of the likes not heard before.
Throughout '99, High On Fire continued writing for their debut full-length. The band recorded their debut with Sleep engineer/producer Billy Anderson at Shark Bite Studios in Oakland, CA. The Art of Self Defense served up a rock hard, unorthodox form of modern metal cloaked in strange religious theology and the trio's style was unique, distinct, heavy as all fuck and absolutely crushing. The album immediately became a cult classic and not even the closure of the label that released the album (Man's Ruin) could stop the powerhouse that had been unleashed. Tee Pee records reissued the album in 2001 with 2 bonus tracks: "Steel Shoes" and a ripping cover of the Celtic Frost song "The Usurper."
