    25th Anniversary Edition

Remastered Vinyl Versions Of The Original Album And The Demos

Includes Extensive Liner Notes By Annie Zaleski Featuring Interviews From All Four Band Members And Producers Scott Litt And John Keane

A quarter of a century after 'Out Of Time' helped break alternative music into the American mainstream and turned R.E.M. into a worldwide phenomenon, the band have announced a special 25th Anniversary Edition, out via Concord Bicycle.

'Out Of Time' will be released in a 3 LP Set which will include remastered vinyl versions of the original album alongside demo versions of every album track, as well as demos for two non-album b-sides and a previously unreleased song. The release also contains extensive liner notes by Annie Zaleski featuring interviews from all four band members and producers Scott Litt and John Keane.

The demos, recorded at John Keane Studio in early 1990 and featured on all versions of the 'Out Of Time' reissue, provide key insight into the band's creative process: from early instrumental passes to versions of Losing My Religion and Texarkana with different lyrics, and even a version of Radio Song that features a rare moment with drummer Bill Berry on lead vocals for a verse. While recording them, it was clear to Keane that R.E.M. were at their peak in terms of creativity."

By 1991, R.E.M. (Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Michael Stipe) had amassed a sizable following in the United States, but 'Out Of Time' brought the Athens, GA band unprecedented global recognition. It was the group's first album to top both US and UK charts, selling 12 million copies worldwide, and garnered 7 Grammy nominations, including wins for Best Alternative Music Album, Best Short Form Music Video (Losing My Religion"), and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (Losing My Religion").

Instant classic songs like Losing My Religion," Shiny Happy People," Near Wild Heaven," and Radio Song" broke new ground, artistically and commercially. Reviewing 'Out Of Time,' Rolling Stone simply said, This may well be America's best rock & roll band." Earlier this year, Pitchfork called the album arguably their most important record," while Time Magazine named 'Out Of Time' one of it's All-Time 100 Albums, saying it contains ethereal beauty rarely heard on a rock record."

Re-Released For The First Time Since 1987

    Includes The Original 17"x11" Poster

Originally released in 1987 and long out of print, Cuba, from The Silos has been called:< br>
"One of the great rock albums of the late '80's, it's decidedly American, anthemic, personal car music."
    -ESQUIRE MAGAZINE.

The Silos formed in New York in 1985 and Cuba, their second album, is not only The Silos‚' definitive recording,
but one that stands out amid a period of extraordinary creativity among American underground
rock bands at the time such as R.E.M., the Replacements and HÜsker DÜ. "Tennessee Fire" is awesome
garage-rock sprawl, "Mary's Getting Married" pure bliss, and "Margaret" a disarming look at the day-to-day
    meaning of love.

"Cuba is one of those albums that, in the twenty-seven years since its release, has become a kind of talisman
among true music fans. Its mention elicits nods of approval and agreement from like-minded souls, and
kicks the next phase of the conversation into enthusiastic high gear. When you meet people of taste who
are unfamiliar with it, the prospect of turning them onto it becomes a palpable pleasure. Because you know
that Cuba exists inside everyone, and this extraordinary album can take you there. It's a journey filled
with longing and loss, warmth and wonder and whether everything happens for a reason or not,
albums like this are a document, a memory map, of why we want to think so."

Though never commercially successful, Paisley Underground darlings the Dream Syndicate were critically acclaimed and held up their version of neo-psychedelic rock n' roll through the vapid MTV-dominated synth years of the 1980s. Influenced by the Velvet Underground, Neil Young and Television, the Syndicate led by vocalist, guitarist and band leader, Steve Wynn, formed the original version of the band with guitarist Karl Precoda in 1982 after moving back to Los Angeles. Drummer Dennis Duck, who played in the Pasadena band, Human Hands, joined the Syndicate and suggested the band's name in reference to Tony Conrad's early 1960s NY experimental ensemble that included John Cale.

The band performed their first live show at Club Lingerie in Hollywood on Feb 23, 1982, and later signed to Slash Records' subsidiary, Ruby Records, releasing their enigmatic and best-known album, The Days of Wine and Roses. After a brief hiatus in the latter 1980s, Wynn, Duck and bassist Mark Walton joined with guitarist Paul Cutler who had produced the band's very first EP. By 1988, the band was on Enigma Records and began a relationship with producer Elliott Mazer, who produced Neil Young's Time Fades Away. Mazer produced Live at Raji's which showcased the band's long, feedback soaked improvisations and even though it was released AFTER the Mazer-produced studio album, Ghost Stories, it was recorded prior to that on Jan 31, 1988, at Raji's in Hollywood; not 1989 as originally listed on the album upon release.

What Run Out Groove presents here is the complete show, including 4 tracks making their debut on wax. Live at Raji's would see its release for the first time in the U.S., since the original vinyl album debuted in Europe back in 1989. If you like R.E.M., Mazzy Star, Rain Parade, Galaxie 500, Big Star, The Velvet Underground, Television and Grant Lee Buffalo you won't want to miss this title.

Let Me Come Home (Discontinued) (On Sale)

Broken Records' second album Let Me Come Home started out as a series of sketches and song fragments in frontman Jamie Sutherlands kitchen, later taking form in demo sessions at an old distillery grain store in the Scottish Highlands. The follow-up to 2009's Until The Earth Begins To Part, the album was recorded and produced by Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Delgados, Belle & Sebastian) at his Studio in Glasgow.

An idea started to form about the direction of the new record based on several films and albums that I became gradually obsessed with at that time. Watching the widescreen emptiness of films Badlands, Rumble Fish and East Of Eden, as well as records such as Bruce Springsteens Nebraska, Nick Caves Murder Ballads, Calexicos Feast Of Wire, and REMs early back catalogue all became a strong influence on the direction of the new songs. It was also during this time that the lyrical theme of the record started to take shape, thinking about what was going on around me in the form of fears and concerns over making relationships work, and a need for security. - Jamie Sutherland

    Murmur

Ranked 197/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

R.E.M. developed a strangely subdued variation of their trademark sound for their full-length debut album, Murmur by de-emphasizing the backbeat and accentuating the ambience of the guitars. Even though it's firmly rooted in the tradition of American folk-rock, post-punk, and garage rock, Murmur sounds eerily timeless, as if it appeared out of nowhere. Part of the distinctiveness lies in the atmospheric production, which exudes a detached sense of mystery, but it also comes from the remarkably accomplished songwriting. R.E.M. went on to produce a few albums that may have been on par with Murmur, but they never made anything that sounded quite like it. Reissued here on audiophile quality 180g vinyl with original packaging.

    MTV Unplugged, 1991

R.E.M. Unplugged, 1991 shares the band's set for MTV's MTV Unplugged acoustic performance. The release draws largely from 1991's Out of Time and five albums in total, as well as a cover of the Troggs' Love Is All Around.

R.E.M. mark the point when post-punk turned into alternative rock. When their first single, Radio Free Europe, was released in 1981, it sparked a back-to-the-garage movement in the American underground. While there were a number of hardcore and punk bands in the U.S. during the early '80s, R.E.M. brought guitar pop back into the underground lexicon. Combining ringing guitar hooks with mumbled, cryptic lyrics and a D.I.Y. aesthetic borrowed from post-punk, the band simultaneously sounded traditional and modern. Throughout the '80s, they worked relentlessly, releasing records every year and touring constantly, playing both theaters and backwoods dives. Along the way, they inspired countless bands, from the legions of jangle pop groups in the mid-'80s to scores of alternative pop groups in the '90s, who admired their slow climb to stardom.

    Oh! Gravity

The highly anticipated sixth album from Switchfoot, contains 12 new tracks written by the band an produced by Tim Palmer (Tin Machine, Pearl Jam, The Cure, Mother Love Bone, U2) & Switchfoot with Grammy winning executive producer Steve Lillywhite. The new album expands Switchfoot's sonic palette while at the same time dealing with social issues on songs like the alt-country blues of 'Dirty Second Hands,' in which Jon Foreman sings of the dehumanization that comes with technology. Other politically motivated tracks include 'Oh! Gravity' the title track's generational appeal for love, peace and understanding, 'American Dram,' with its biting truth, 'Awakening,' about trying to recover the innocence of a child in the midst of an ever harsher reality, the sawing alt-country of 'Head Over Heels,' the exotic instrumentation and Middle Eastern flavor of 'Circles,' the REM-esque pulse of '4:12', the lush Brit-pop melodies of 'Yesterdays,' the Echo and the Bunnymen/Smiths influenced 'Burn Out Bright' and Motown sound of 'Amateur Lovers.'

    Human Performance

Their third album, Human Performance, establishes Parquet Courts as simply one of the best rock bands active in the world right now, no qualifiers needed. Not "in Brooklyn," not "something-something millennial," not "art-rock this" or "slacker indie that" - but a brilliant, accomplished rock band that have established themselves as deserving a role in the historical legacy of the genre alongside the likes of The Velvet Underground, REM, Sonic Youth, and (okay, fine) Pavement.

The LP - their masterpiece - brings together the tunefulness, wit, and guitar wizardry that earned them a crush of critical praise & excitable fans right out of the gate, with a deeply human sense of drive, of yearning, and of wisdom earned. At times nearly overwhelming in its emotional density, at others astonishing with sheer sonic deftness, Human Performance is a rare achievement: breathtaking and brilliant.

    With Loving And Open Arms

THE CAUSEY WAY IS NOT A CULT. They wish they were, but they are not. Sure, they are building a compound in a remote and undisclosed place, outside of Gainsville, Florida.(oops) Sure they offer Causey Blood (vegan) in communion cups before their services. And, of course, concert goers are encouraged to fill out membership nametags at their concerts. And it goes without saying that they're more than merely terrified about Y2K. But they are not a cult. They can't be because Alternative Tentacles Records can't sign cults; they're supposed to sign bands.

Causey formed the band in 1997. His requisites were stringent in recruiting his flock. The future parishoners were not allowed to have been in a band - not in their current life nor in prior lives. They made one exception though, they allowed Boy Causey to join the band. Boy, aka Brian, you see, is currently in a ROCK N ROLL band called Man Or Astroman? as well as serving in Servotron. Causey, believe it or not, used to be a professional skateboarder using the phony last name Stanton. He used to defy gravity with corporate sponsorship emblazoned upon his bosom (in interviews he would explain it was the closest feeling approximating that of walking on water) when one day he landed on his nose and finally saw the light. This revelation changed Causey. He wanted to start anew, he suddenly felt a greater purpose. He needed to remain true to his new self while at the same time start something new & exciting and not merely regurgitate putrid bile like some old Linda Blair movie. He dreamed that his followers would release doves in asking for an encore, rather than lighting lighters. He had a mission, and the mission was THE CAUSEY WAY.

Shortly after this period Jello Causey received a care-package from THE CAUSEY WAY. It contained a digital testament of their musical sacrifices, and some thoughtful Y2K preparedness items such as generic bleach, generic toothpaste, and enough cotton swabs to clean out an entire chapel-full of ears. Shortly after receiving the package, he quickly filled out his membership nametag, and the rest is history. (Jello has adamantly denied journalists' claims that he was 'brainwashed'.) It was exactly the type of new 'testament' wave, and pulpit punk that was missing in his life. (Some heathen have made references to Devo due to the presence of keyboards.)

Jello wasn't the only soul converted. Rain Phoenix (sister of late River Phoenix) quickly signed up and did penance by singing background vocals on With Open and Loving Arms. One openly famous musical celebrity superstar, Michael Stipe of the rock quartet REM, was so healed upon experiencing THE CAUSEY WAY service, that he invited the pulpit back to his house for a serving of grits to show his gratitude. The band declined.

Prior to their debut full-length sermon With Open and Loving Arms, THE CAUSEY WAY released an ep by the name of WWCD (that rose to #30 on CMJ's charts) and released an ep called Testimony for the skankedly trendy label Fueled By Ramen.(Less Than Jake's label) before releasing their latest one Causey vs. Everything on Alternative Tentacles in January 2001.

    The Bends

Ranked 110/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Pablo Honey in no way was adequate preparation for its epic, sprawling follow-up, The Bends. Building from the sweeping, three-guitar attack that punctuated the best moments of Pablo Honey, Radiohead create a grand and forceful sound that nevertheless resonates with anguish and despair -- it's cerebral anthemic rock. Occasionally, the album displays its influences, whether it's U2, Pink Floyd, R.E.M., or the Pixies, but Radiohead turn clichÉs inside out, making each song sound bracingly fresh. Thom Yorke's tortured lyrics give the album a melancholy undercurrent, as does the surging, textured music. But what makes The Bends so remarkable is that it marries such ambitious, and often challenging, instrumental soundscapes to songs that are at their cores hauntingly melodic and accessible. It makes the record compelling upon first listen, but it reveals new details with each listen, and soon it becomes apparent that with The Bends, Radiohead have reinvented anthemic rock.

The 13th Floor Elevators 1967 Masterpiece On 180 Gram Gold Vinyl For The First Time Ever

Mastered on 180-gram audiophile-quality vinyl from masters mixed to stereo from the original 1967 Andrus Studios session multitracks by IA producer Ray Rush at Autumn Sound Studios during November 1976.

The only 13th Floor Elevators LP to make the Billboard chart captures the group at their absolute peak. Released in November 1967, a year after their debut LP 'Psychedelic Sounds', the band, critics and fans alike consider 'Easter Everywhere' to be the Elevator's finest work.

Produced by Lelan Rogers, the music is delivered with an informed power and intensity of knowing. Even the quieter tracks, 'Dust' and 'Had To Tell You' display a restrained beauty and purity of vision which perfectly counterbalance the intensity of 'Earthquake' and 'Slip Inside This House'.

Genre-defining, pioneering, unique and utterly timeless, The 13th Floor Elevators continue to influence and inspire new generations of musicians.

Which Side Are You On? (Out Of Stock)

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Ani DiFranco releases her eagerly awaited album Which Side Are You On? on the Grammy-winning artists own Righteous Babe Records. The release marks DiFrancos first studio album in more than three years. The collection features 11 new songs alongside a radically reworked rendition of the classic title song, famously popularized by the one and only Pete Seeger nearly five decades ago, but no less relevant today.

Backing DiFranco is a remarkably diverse line-up of stellar musicians, including members of her own crack touring band as well as such guest players as Ivan and Cyril Neville (of New Orleans first family of funk and R&B, The Neville Brothers), avant-saxophonist Skerik (Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bonnie Raitt, The Meters), acclaimed singer/songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, guitarist Adam Levy (Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Amos Lee), and a host of New Orleans-based horn players known for their work in such outfits as Galactic, Bonerama, and The Rebirth Brass Band.

The newly recorded version of Which Side Are You On? is a funk-fueled epic, incorporating not just Anis band, but Pete Seeger himself on banjo and vocals alongside The Rivertown Kids, a Hudson Valley-based childrens chorus, and The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders, a brass band consisting of students from The Roots of Music, a music education program for at-risk middle-school students in New Orleans. DiFranco contributed her own straight-from-the headlines verses to the song and has used it to close her own live shows ever since. The album represents an extraordinary snapshot of DiFrancos own life as well her sense of where the country stands at this particular moment in time.
