London Fog 1966
Collector's Edition Boxed Set Features Previously Unheard Concert Recordings From 1966 On CD And Vinyl
Includes 8 x 10 Prints Of Unseen Photos And Replica Memorabilia
Before The Doors took the music scene by storm in 1967, they were the house band at the London Fog, a Sunset Strip dive bar located just footsteps away from the world famous Whisky a Go Go, the future home of many of the band's most legendary performances. The Doors will open a virtual time capsule in December with LONDON FOG 1966, a Collector's Edition boxed set that features unearthed audio recorded at the club in May 1966. Previously unreleased and not even known to exist until recently, this marks the earliest recordings of the band and finds the quartet mixing blues covers with early versions of Doors originals.
LONDON FOG 1966 will be available as an individually numbered limited edition of 18,000 copies from Rhino/Bright Midnight Archives. Presented in a lift-top package designed to look like a vintage storage box, the set features seven songs on both CD and a 10-inch record that's made to resemble a test pressing. Noted Doors engineer Bruce Botnick recently mastered the audio for this collection.
Along with the unreleased music, the set is packed with memorabilia and historic liner notes to provide a true time capsule of that fabled night at the London Fog, including a poster, the set list handwritten by John Densmore, a program for the Royce Hall UCLA student film screening, plus a London Fog coaster. There are also liner notes included from Sunset Strip legend Ronnie Haran-Mellen, who was the talent booker at the Whisky a Go Go. Haran-Mellen saw The Doors live for the first time at the London Fog and then booked them as the permanent house band at the Whisky, leading to the band's signing to Elektra and meteoric rise to superstardom.
Also contributing liner notes is Nettie Peña, one of the lucky few to be in attendance at the London Fog for this fabled show. Peña was a pivotal force in this release coming together as she captured the audio on a ¼" reel to reel recorder, which was the property of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Her father was a teacher for LAUSD and let her borrow the recorder to take to the show. Peña also photographed the band that evening and five black and white 8x10 reprints of these unpublished photos are included in the Collector's Edition, featuring a fresh-faced Morrison on a cramped stage with John Densmore, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek.
The show featured on LONDON FOG 1966 took place the same year that The Doors recorded their eponymous debut. Released in January 1967, the album would become one of the most influential in rock history. Like many of the band's early concerts, the show captured on this deluxe set reflects the group's deep love for the blues with covers of standards like Muddy Waters' "Rock Me" and "I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man." The set also includes raw performances of "Baby, Please Don't Go" (Big Joe Williams), "Don't Fight It" (Wilson Pickett), and "Lucille" (Little Richard).
During their residency at the London Fog, The Doors frequently worked out new songs on stage that would eventually appear on various studio albums. At this show, the band played two originals. The first, "Strange Days," would become the title track for the band's second studio album, which also came out in 1967. This is one of the only known live recordings of this track. The other Doors original, "You Make Me Real," wasn't officially released on a studio album until Morrison Hotel in 1970.
"To hear 'Strange Days,' that came out on their second album, in almost final shape so early on was truly amazing," says Jac Holzman, the President of Elektra Records who signed The Doors to their first recording contract.

High Moon Records presents the 1974 studio album from one of rock music's most gifted and enigmatic legends-back on vinyl after 40 years! Reel To Real captures Arthur Lee and Love at the peak of their rock/funk/soul powers. Originally released in 1974 on RSO Records, this deluxe reissue features over 74 minutes of vibrant, remastered audio from the original multitrack tapes, a 32- page booklet with an illuminating essay by Rolling Stone's David Fricke, and a trove of candid, unpublished photos.
What Arthur Lee began on Love's Black Beauty (released by High Moon to wide acclaim in 2013), he brought to fruition on Reel To Real. Armed with a major label budget, and a powerful, intuitive band, he dug deep into the blues, soul, and rock grooves that fi rst inspired him, reaching out to a new audience with his fi erce and forward-thinking personal vision. To a palette of stinging guitars, explosive brass, deep funk bass and clavinet, splashes of spacey synthesizer, and dream-team female backing vocals, Arthur Lee brought his funkiest and most soulful collection of songs, and channeled the most visceral vocal performances he ever committed to tape.
High Moon Records has unearthed 11 revelatory, previously unreleased tracks from the original sessions - including alternate takes and mixes, live-in-studio rehearsals, and 4 newly discovered Arthur Lee originals! Sound City: Real To ReelLimited Collector's Edition 180 Gram Vinyl
All-New Original Album of Music Created Exclusively for the Documentary
Deep in the San Fernando Valley, behind the train tracks and amidst dilapidated warehouses, was rock n' roll's best kept secret. Sound City, America's greatest unsung recording studio, housed a legendary, one-of-a-kind recording console, and became the birth place to the seminal albums that defined 20th century music. Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty, Nirvana, amongst many others, all put magic to tape within these walls. It was rock n' roll hallowed ground. Directed by Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and featuring interviews and performances by the iconic musicians who made their careers in the studio, Sound City tells the story of real rock n' roll history, and celebrates the human element of music, as Grohl gathers some of rock's greatest artists to collaborate on a new album. Using Sound City's legendary analog console, together they continue to create musical miracles in a digital world.
Sound City - Real To Real, the companion album to the documentary is released on Roswell
Records, in conjunction with the film's DVD and Blu-Ray releases. A brand new collection of all-new all-original songs, each song featured on the album was composed and recorded exclusively for the film within its own 24-hour session. The new tracks - featuring an amazing and idiosyncratic cast of collaborators including Paul McCartney, Grohl's former Nirvana and current Foo Fighters bandmates, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Trent Reznor, Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Lee Ving of Fear, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford of Rage Against The Machine and more--passionately exemplify Sound City's celebration of the human element of musicianship and recording in an increasingly digital world.1. I Don't Want To CryPressed at R.T.I.
Growing up in Pittsburgh, Chuck Jackson witnessed first-hand the rise of the city's vibrant doo wop scene. Joining local heroes the Del Vikings, his smooth, commanding voice took the lead on their 1957 single "Willette." Going solo in 1959, Jackson was spotted by producer/Wand Records A&R man Luther Dixon while opening for Jackie Wilson at the Apollo Theater. With Dixon, Jackson co-wrote his first hit, "I Don't Want to Cry." The track featured a lavish band arrangement, a style Dixon had perfected during his sessions with the Shirelles. Together, Jackson and Dixon carefully crafted I Don't Want to Cry! (1961), Jackson's debut LP. A concept album dedicated to songs about crying, it finds Jackson covering mentor Wilson ("Lonely Teardrops") as well as an early Burt Bacharach-Hal David composition ("I Wake Up Crying"). Audibly in command, Jackson's vocals blend seamlessly with Dixon's arrangements, resulting in an astonishingly accomplished album. Working from the original analog reels, Sundazed has mastered this landmark LP in the rare true stereo mix. Pressed at R.T.I. on lush 180 gram vinyl, every string swell, every horn phrase and, most importantly, every vocal performance comes through in "you are there" clarity. Ode To A Rainy Day
All Unreleased Material Spanning Robert Lester Folsom's Early Years
Previously Unreleased Photos And Art
Liner Notes Written By Robert Lester Folsom
Anthology Recordings is pleased to present Ode To A
Rainy Day: Archives 1972-1975, a collection of previously
unreleased home recordings from Robert Lester Folsom.
The 13 tracks in this collection capture the halcyon,
wide-eyed experiments of Folsom who, after going
halves in a reel-to-reel tape recorder with a friend,
recorded all of this material over college summer breaks
in barns, screened porches and bedrooms across Adel,
Georgia. Folsom crafts a delicate form of folk-rock, with
a knack for penning gorgeous ballads (See You Later
I'm Gone, Can't See You), spellbinding instrumental
explorations (Oblivion) and elements of dusty
psychedelia (the farfisa-peppered Written In Your Hair
and On And On). There are echoes of Neil Young
(Southern Man was a favorite cover of Folsom's), Nick
Drake and early Fairport Convention in Folsom's form
and lyricism, that would later become more realized on
his full-length Music And Dreams (1976). Perhaps just as
precious as the songs revived in this collection is the
youthful sense of excitement and experimentation that
has been captured and preserved.1. Ode to a Rainy Day

UNIM-FUL-8529xMicah P. Hinson
Presents The Holy StrangersMicah P. Hinson's new album Presents The Holy Strangers is described by the artist as being a modern folk opera. Telling the story of a war time family, going from birth to love, to marriage and children, to war and betrayal, murder to suicide - spanning all of the strange and glorious places life can lead. We follow their story, we see their decisions, we see their faults and their beauty. We live with them, we die with them.
Two years in the making, Micah wrote and recorded The Holy Strangers in Denison, Texas, incorporating ancient reel to reels, analogue keyboards, old Tascam and Yamaha desks. The recording only entered the digital realm once pre-mastering took place.
Split across two pieces of the vinyl, the 14 tracks which make up The Holy Strangers are at times sparse and haunting; at other times luscious, maybe even euphoric. From the Johnny Cash-style country single Lover's Lane, to the album's broad, spoken-word centrepiece Micah Book One The Holy Strangers covers a lot of ground over the course of its hour long running time, appealing to both long-time fans and new ones alike.1. SpokeVinyl version of Calexico's debut album from 1997. First time on vinyl in North America.
Nearly ten years has passed since we embarked on these initial home recordings on our trusty 8 track reel to reel. These were the first experiments of writing and recording with the newly bought thrift store instrumentation featuring marimba, vibraphone, accordion, cello, mandolin as well as the respective drums, guitar and bass. The songs have a certain lean to them and we appreciated the unusual character that came from this session. We started off minimal and one by one started adding instruments, both John and I as we saw fit, or adding vocals when we needed storyline. Spoke has an organic feel to it. In addition to these songs there are field recordings and outgoing tape machine messages that help to paint the picture of crooked adobe walls and empty downtown streets of Tucson. There's an element of space on this album that unfolds nicely upon the ear and it evokes the kind of late night aesthetic that holds up well to this day.ö - Joey Burns1. Low Expectations

MaraqopaDamien Jurados newest collaboration with producer Richard Swift drops us into a brutal and benevolent landscape. The bold strokes and new turns the pair made with 2010s Saint Bartlett are taken even further. He throws open the gate on his oft insular dirges and allows them to do some real wilding out in the canyon. In Maraqopa, the vistas are miles-wide; the action is more dynamic; the close-ups sweaty and snarling.
The strummed desert blues that begins Nothing is the News quickly bursts open into an Eddie Hazel-worthy supernova shred session, all of it swirling in tinny-psych and Echoplexd howls. Weve never heard anything like this from Jurado. Fifteen years into his remarkable career, and he continues to blossom. Jurado and Swift establish themselves not only as inventive, trusting collaborators, but as one anothers spirit animals in American outsider songcraft, lone wolves in black sheeps clothing. Swift is the Ennio Morricone to Jurados Sergio Leone.
At Swifts National Freedom studios, the live-to-tape ethos allowed these songs to expand and retract like a great beasts breath. Every in-the-moment bell and whistle here is hung with a natural, casual care. And from this, each song offers up its own unique gift: the enchanting childrens choir that echoes each line of Jurados lament for innocence lost on Life Away from the Garden; the breezy bossa nova that begins This Time Next Year and rises as effortless as a smoke cloud into high-noon showdown pop; Reel to Reel's wobbly, Spector-symphony and its meta themes; and the wonderful falsetto vocal work Jurado pulls from himself on Museum of Flight.1. Each 2-LP Set Is Individually Numbered And Strictly Limited
Comes In A Gatefold Tip-On Stoughton Sleeve With Brand New Artwork
1970: The Complete Fun House Sessions was recorded at Elektra Sound Recorders in Los Angeles and compiled from all thirteen reels of multi-track tape that held every note and snippet of studio dialogue. Twelve reels of tape were used during the original sessions, with the thirteenth reel having the takes that would be used on the studio album.
This sprawling set which was originally aimed at the collector market would be challenging and cost prohibitive to reissue as a multi-disc vinyl box set. What is presented here is an attempt to assemble some of the best highlights from the Fun House Sessions on an officially-released 2LP set in high quality packaging with a sequence that hopefully proves to be an easier, and more casual listen.
Included are some terrific alternate versions of Down on the Street,Loose, Dirt, Funhouse, 1970 and others, pulled from session reels 1,4, 6, 7, 9 and 11 and originally recorded on May 11, 12, 15, 18, 21 and 25 of 1970. Also notable is the inclusion of the 17+ minute version of L.A. Blues, titled as Freak, which encompasses the entire fourth side of this set and is the prime example of what makes the Fun House Sessions both loved and feared.LP 1

Mariachi El Bronx IIIn 2008, hardcore punk band, The Bronx, diverted from their usual hard rock sound in favor of a mariachi style that is very much a part of Mexican culture surrounding their hometown of Los Angeles, CA. In June of the same year, the band posted a video on YouTube of themselves performing their original Cell Mates in mariachi style under the name Mariachi El Bronx. From that moment on, The Bronx has moved forward on a dual career path with Mariachi El Bronx issuing their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album and touring the world.
Cut to August 2011, and the band continues their trailblazing path with their brand new release, Mariachi El Bronx (II) produced by John Avila (Oingo Boingo, Reel Big Fish). Formed in Los Angeles in 1965, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band were considered by many to be the West Coast's answer to the Velvet Underground. The group created California psych/rock music that was both fragile and dreamy.
Part One was originally released in 1967 on Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records. Where Shall You Take Me (Deluxe Reissue) (Awaiting Repress)Back in print with new artwork, and an extra disc of music previously unreleased on vinyl
Damien Jurado is the sort of songwriter who straddles rock's past and future, and with each
record contributes a new chapter to a never-fruitful body ofwork. Before we move onto the next
chapter, we look back at his first album with Secretly Canadian. An instant classic when released
in 2003, Where Shall You Take Me? was his fifth full-length, and is a beautiful collection of ten
Raymond Carver-esque vignettes terror and bliss in Middle America. Arriving two decades after
Springsteen's Nebraska,Jurado put the darker, more complicated side of the heartland back on
the map with his tales of young love (some requited; some not), innocent fun and bloodshed.
Mostly acoustic with very sparse band arrangements - with the notable exception being the old
live favorite Texas to Ohio, which sounds like a Scarecrow-era Mellencamp hit - Jurado
displayed the songwriting talent that turns back the hands of time to a place in which his tunes
sound like they've been floating around, passed down from generation to generation.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of this fine release comes a deluxe 2xLP vinyl reissue,

Locked DownStoried musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John (aka Mac Rebennack) releases Locked Down, a startling album that marks a significant departure from his recent efforts. The new album, produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, is Dr. John's first for Nonesuch Records.
Its an entirely new approach for the iconic Dr. John, featuring as it does his collaboration with Auerbach and a band of young musicians Auerbach hand-picked to make Locked Down at his studio Easy Eye Sound in Nashville. It was way cool cutting this record with Dan and the crew he put together for it, says Rebennack. It's reel HIP.
For his part, Auerbach says about the collaboration: Mac inspired me every single day we were in the studio together: musically, spiritually, cosmically, something special seemed to be happening and everyone involved could sense it. For my money, Mac's one of the greatest who ever was and who ever will be, I'm so honored to have had this opportunity to work with him.
Auerbach, a long-time fan of the influential musician, dubbed the Night Tripper in the late 60s, visited Dr. John late in 2010 in his hometown of New Orleans, announcing his ambition to produce the best record you've made in a long time. Rebennack replied that he had done his research, his children had told him good things about The Black Keys, and the conversation led to an agreement to collaborate on the 2011 Bonnaroo Jam being curated by Auerbach.
That performance, called by New York Times critic Ben Ratliff in his best-of-the-year list deep and oozy, close-to-the-vest, low-frequency funk, confirmed that something unusual was taking place and led to September recording sessions in Nashville. Dr. John returned to Nashville at Thanksgiving to complete the vocals and Locked Down was mixed by Auerbach and completed in early 2012.1. Locked Down

Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning SystemMobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Will Clean All of Your Contacts and Connectors to Insure Nothing Gets Between You and Your Music!
Mobile Fidelity proudly introduces the Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning System, the absolutely best way to clean audio contacts. This formula has been used in many mission-critical applications as well as by very well-known recording studios since the mid-1990s and is now available to help wring the fullest potential out of audiophile equipment.
Audio professionals are keenly aware that dirty contacts are a source of amusical distortion robbing their recordings of power, clarity, and musicality. Sound engineers use Sonic Connect on every metal-metal connection in both cabling and recording equipment: microphone XLR connectors, signal cable connectors, AC outlets and plugs, 2-inch open reel mastering decks and many others. Several hydroelectric dams use this solution to clean oxidation from their large power distribution lines to ensure maximum conductivity and reduce down time.
Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning System is a 2-step process. Step One is a solution designed to remove oxidation from metal parts. Step Two is a powerful solvent which removes grease, oils and other contaminants that impede and distort signal flow. In combination, SONIC CONNECT removes more and leaves less residue than any other contact cleaner we've used. Hear music and see video without the grunge and veiling introduced by dirty contacts. Once connections are fully cleaned with Sonic Connect, a contact enhancer may be used, if desired.
We recommend cleaning connections with Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning at least twice a year, more often if the equipment is in humid or very dusty environments. Analog lovers, call us today to find out how your system can benefit from Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning System!$49.99Record Cleaning Solution Buy Now

The female quartet known as the Daisy Chain came roaring out of Southern California's Orange County just in time for the Summer of Love. Straight or Lame was little noticed by the public in its original 1967 release on the small United International label. Due to the original album's rarity, original copies have been known to change hands for huge prices. Now it's available once again, in a limited run of 1000 copies.
