    On Stage

    Green Colored Vinyl

    Pressed At RTI

"I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow!" The famous Wizard of Oz introduction sets the
mood for the thrills, imagination, and aural adventurous that is Rainbow's classic double live album On Stage. Recorded in late
1976, approximately one year before front man Ronnie James Dio's departure from the band, the set stands as one of the decade's
pivotal concert records. On par with Kiss' Alive, UFO's Strangers in the Night, and Deep Purple's Made In Japan, the effort teems
with blistering performances and unfettered energy.

Freed from the confines of the studio, Dio and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore instill passionate bravado and swagger to every
song they attack. At the peak of his powers, Dio sings with leather-lunged gusto and theatrical purpose, hitting seemingly
impossible highs and reaching down to bring dark overtones to the lows. His melancholic showing on a cover of Deep Purple's
"Mistreated" blows away the original. As a perfect foil, Blackmore takes the opportunity to stretch out solos and indulge in bluesy
improvisations, turning "Man on the Silver Mountain" into a multi-part medley and the slowly building, fantasy-themed "Catch
the Rainbow" into an epic workout.

Rainbow's rhythm section is equally inspired. Drummer Cozy Powell jump-starts high-voltage passages with urgent beats and
timely playing. In sync with the irreplaceable contributions of organist/keyboardist Tony Carey, bassist Jimmy Bain supplies a taut
foundation. On Stage is in effect a document of a vital hard-rock band pushing itself to the maximum and succeeding in taking its
audiences on an unforgettable journey. Blackmore's inventive passages and colorful tones are alone worth the price of admission.

Martin Birch's steady, lively production puts it over the top. Unlike many heavily edited albums from the era, Powell is heard front
and center, the drums given as much space and presence as Blackmore's humming guitar, Dio's inimitable singing, and Carey's
howling organ. You're given an invitation to stand onstage with the quintet.

Pressed on green-colored vinyl at RTI, America's best pressing plant, and presented in a faithful reproduction of the original
gatefold sleeve, Wax Cathedral's deluxe reissue of this live scorcher renders the music in the highest fidelity it's ever enjoyed.
Always meant to be heard since its original release in 1977, On Stage is restored to all its glory.

    On Stage

The album was recorded live over several German and Japanese dates in late 1976 during the Rising world tour. Many of the tracks were spliced together from different dates by producer Martin Birch, and the running order was changed to more easily fit four sides of vinyl. The recording features the customary introduction to a Rainbow show - the classic quote from the The Wizard of Oz, Toto: I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow! with the last word repeated as an echo, then the actual band plays a musical phrase from the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow before breaking into Kill the King.

The concert was recorded in Munich on October 20, 1977, originally filmed to air on the German TV Rockpalast show. Repeated airings have led to numerous bootleg video and audio tapes of the show being available through the 80's and 90's. Although some fans believed that this set came from the same tour as the previously released On Stage (which was mostly culled from their 1976 Japanese tour), the performance on this release is actually from their 1977 European tour, a few months prior to the release of Long Live Rock n' Roll, and thus features a different bass-player and keyboardist.

    All Our Yesterdays

"All Our Yesterdays" is Blackmore's Night's 9th studio album. Despite Ritchie Blackmore's past as a guitar player in Deep Purple and Rainbow, he is now in another stage of his musical life, concentrating on modern Folk,
Renaissance and Progressive Rock music. Besides Ritchie's talents, the other selling point for Blackmore's Night is
vocalist Candice Night, the beautiful wife of Ritchie Blackmore who could be described as a younger, and folkier,

    Gutter Rainbows

As a boy growing up in Brooklyn, Talib Kweli saw gutters that ran with dirt, oil and water, revealing a shimmering rainbow to his childs eyes. Drawing its title from this memory, this album puts at the raw center what his music has been doing for years: finding and preserving the beautiful in the hideous; the rainbows in the gutter. Weaving the lyrical and the gritty, the autobiographical with an honest, no-holdsbarred hip-hop spirit; Kweli sticks fiercely to what feels true to him in creating the sound of this album.

Without being tied to any particular labels conception of what his sound should be or when his work should hit his fans, Kweli is free to build his most personal album yet in both content and motivation. Kwelis true solo career has only just begun, and although the future holds more collaboration, Gutter Rainbows marks a new stage in the long and ever-evolving career of Talib Kweli. This release, recorded on his time and with his talent as the driving force, proves Kweli is a complete and formidable musician, it presents the depth and breadth of his experience and ability.

I Left My Heart In San Francisco (On Sale)

Can there really be a definitive album from a singer whose voice is one of the most immediately recognized and internationally cherished, and whose command of songs is akin to the manner in which an able-bodied masseuse handles delicate muscle tissues? If so, then I Left My Heart In San Francisco is that record, the 1962 effort a turning point for the great Tony Bennett and an all-time pop standard. Winner of two Grammy Awards, the record contains Bennetts signature track as well as eleven other indelible classics.

Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelitys numbered limited-edition 180g LP presents Bennett in the finest sound hes ever enjoyed. Amazingly, this landmark recording has lavished in the vaults over the years and longed for the restoration that meticulous engineering can bring. Gone is the veiled haze that hung over the orchestrations, artificial ceiling that held back the highs, and cloudiness that obscured the entire range of Bennetts vocals. Previously unheard levels of warmth, expressiveness, and detailing are just some of the hallmarks of this terrific audiophile delight.

At the time of the albums sessions, Bennett found himself caught between the need to sing thin uptempo numbers in order to appease the marketplace and the desire to move beyond the jazzier material he tackled in the late 50s. Unwilling to compromise his will to sing ballads and swing, Bennett, along with producer Ernest Altschuler and arranger/pianist Ralph Sharon, found the perfect combination on I Left My Heart In San Francisco, replete with expansive orchestration, period echo, anthemic ballads, and lush pop arrangements that still leave plenty of room for intimacy and delicacy.

Theres little left to say about the timeless title track, amidst the most definitive songs ever recorded. Similarly, the closing The Best Is Yet to Come ranks equally high, with Bennetts rendition coming a full two years before Frank Sinatras version. Its no wonder why The Voice deemed Bennett his favorite singer. The proof is everywhere, whether on the brassy Rules of the Road, big-band bossa nova send-up of Cole Porters Love for Sale, tender Have I Told You Lately?, or the white-gloves treatment of the Broadway tune Once Upon a Time. Bennetts charismatic personality and refined singing ring true throughout, his burnished baritone as clear as spring water.

Now, hear this triumphant performance as if Bennett is singing to you on a private stage. Witness every breath, and experience the thrill of the singer holding a note for what seems like eternity on I'm Always Chasing Rainbows without flinching. Seldom, if ever, has a vocalists singing sounded so effortlessly natural and innate. Mobile Fidelitys 180g LP is simply unmatched in terms of sonics, spaciousness, and sensation.

    Epoch

Epoch is the final album in the trilogy beginning with 2011's Dive, then 2014's Awake. This period between Dive and Epoch marks a significant maturation for Scott Hansen's continually expanding project, one that has taken him from a solo performer and bedroom artist to fronting a live 4-piece band on large stages across the world.

Epoch hones the sonic aesthetic of Dive while drawing on the kinetic energy of Awake, it explores darker themes and new musical territory. The album was produced and recorded by Hansen predominantly in his home studio in Berkeley, California. The album was arranged alongside long-time collaborator and partner in the project, Zac Brown. Brown contributed bass and guitar parts to the songwriting process. Rory O'Connor performed drums on the album. Hansen sees Epoch as a multi-dimensional artistic vision at the confluence of his graphic design work via ISO50 and music with Tycho. The graphic presentation of album artwork is as important as the music itself. The keystone is the central image of Epoch and the colors scheme red and black. This is a stark contrast to the almost rainbow palette of Awake.

    Projections

Great dance music albums - albums that sound as good on headphones and home speakers as they do on club soundsystems - aren't easily made. In a form whose primary aims have been to move dancefloors and to move on, full lengths that thrill the head, heart and the feet with equal power are few and far between. We believe Romare has made one.

With the gripping shock of the new that announces the best records of the genre - from Entroducing through Blue Lines to Ambient Classics - Romare has both a singular style, and great deal to say with it. Projections comes off like Voodoo Ray reworked by DJ Shadow; its drumming littered with infectious swing, its samples illuminating and attention gripping, its atmosphere pronounced and consistent, and its riffs and hooks heavy - and unabashedly joyous.

The album is a heady mix of homage and fresh approach, a statement from a young artist unafraid to revel in his influences, and confident in his own originality. The songs on Projections are homages to elements of American/African culture in the USA - which Romare studied academically. Taking his name from Romare Bearden, the well-known cut'n'paste artist / collagist, and applying similar techniques to music.

Rainbow is a homage to gay rights via disco in the 70's, and Work Song to the great American work song tradition. Opener "Nina's Charm" sets out the stall for the album. A tiny, near spoken snippet of Nina Simone's voice is set against a hypnotic synth riff and a dislocated gospel-choir chant. The result is something utterly fresh; a tone setter that worms through the ear and floods the brain in soothing catharsis. "Motherless Child" opens with a shuffling jazz swing, allowing its sample of the African-American spiritual from which it takes its title to shine in full. When a simple, riff-like melody arrives, the song transforms into a sultry, glorious slow-dance workout. "Lover Man's" striking, cut-up synth riff is set up against chiming stabs and slurred chords, a snatched, swing vocal enticing us in to the wonkiest of grooves.

Romare reimagines the profound cultural impact of the collage technique for a new generation of music listeners. With his signing to Ninja Tune, coming hot on the heels of his excellent 12"s on underground institution Black Acre, and compilation inclusions by Tiga, Bonobo and Brownswood, the stage is set for his debut album. Projections, like the best albums from the dance music world, is informed by scenes and genres but not entirely of them. It's a self-contained universe that rewards much exploration. Most of all, it's excited about the possibilities within music, and vastly exciting itself.

    Scorpion Child

    Black Double-LP in Gatefold

Includes Bonus Track and Poster. Side D: Etched!

Hooks: a musical idea or short riff, passage, or phrase that catches the ear of the listener. Some bands have 'em, most don't. Austin-based five-piece SCORPION CHILD have 'em in spades. Whether it's an extended blues jam or a short slice of bombastic heavy rock "The Child" lay a hook so tasty everyone bites. SCORPION CHILD come from lots of different places, not only logistically but musically. Their sound heralds back to early 70's kraut and psych-rock with a modern twist and lists PENTAGRAM, HAIRY CHAPTER and LUCIFER'S FRIEND as influences. They originally formed in 2006 and have spent the last few years perfecting both their songwriting and stage presence. Aryn Jonathan Black fronts the outfit with a siren-like voice reminiscent of a young Robert Plant. Guitarists Christopher Jay Cowart and Tom Frank layer high-energy twin-guitars over the band's driving rhythm section fueled by Shaun Avants (bass) and Shawn Alvear (drums). "Our influences are diversified as classic 80's thrash metal to the old school southern blues of Blind Willie Johnson, Lemon Jefferson and Willie McTell," says Black. "We came to Austin to form a band with a single vision and though we've played in different bands with a range of styles, after jamming together, we found our footing in what we do best." Balancing full-time jobs at coffee shops and bars around town forced the group to be very disciplined. "Austin's a great city to develop and hone your skills musically," admits Black. "Every genre can be found here from blues and jazz to punk and hardcore." In 2010, after years of slogging it out in the Austin scene, SCORPION CHILD gained peer recognition with critical praise from local and regional press while selling out high profile gigs at SXSW. The stage was set for the band's recording debut. After songwriting sessions in Nashville, the band spent last year recording their self-titled album with Grammy-nominated producer Chris "Frenchie" Smith known for his work with THE ANSWER, JET, AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD, DAX RIGGS, and many others). The result is a hybrid of nine, hook-filled heavy-psych classics that breathe new life into a stale hard rock market. Their music erupts with big drums, thunderous guitar riffs and dangerous soul ridden bass lines. Black's powerful rock vocals convey a sexiness and swagger not heard since the days of FREE and HUMBLE PIE. A surge of electricity bursts from the first notes of "Kings Highway" to the pummeling drive of "The Secret Spot" and the highly addictive open-chord "Liquor". Built for the big stage is "Salvation Slave" which hearkens back to a time when guitar rock ruled the airwaves and made going to a concert the ultimate main event. Building on dynamic tension comes the acid-infused "Antioch", a progressive number with hypnotic beats and subtle shades of light that build into a blinding guitar duet. A galloping pulse distinguishes "In The Arms of Ecstasy" as a celebration of groove that is followed by the raw unchained riffage of "Paradigm". The album concludes with the slow building "Red Blood (The River Flows)" which continues to attract comparisons to LED ZEPPELIN. "We do have this whole acoustic side that sounds very ZEPPELIN III with a lot of gospel", says Black. "ZEPPELIN were very innovative and not afraid to go outside the usual confines of electric blues. I guess that's where the comparison comes from." Recently signed to legendary metal label Nuclear Blast the band has pulled "Polygon of Eyes" as their lead single. A nod to DIO-era RAINBOW, the song is four minutes of power-heavy rock plowing through an ancient storyline of swords and mystics. Says Black, "I've always wanted to hear new musical ingredients within a classic heavy sound. We want to maintain spontaneity while putting special emphasis into integral hooks." As vinyl continues to gain momentum, SCORPION CHILD with Nuclear Blast have plans to release their debut in June 2013 as a glorious gatefold edition with different colored vinyl in each pressing. Building up to the debut release was a large-scale tour with CLUTCH and UK's ORANGE GOBLIN the perfect event to introduce SCORPION CHILD to the masses. Several summer festivals are to follow including Rock The Range and Rocklahoma. The band join an elite few including THE SWORD, GRAVEYARD, WOLFMOTHER and RIVAL SONS who celebrate a warm Marshall and liquid feedback while still pushing boundarie
