    Different Class

Different Class was the fifth album by Pulp and their commercial breakthrough. Different Class went to #1 in the UK album charts in 1995 at the height of Britpop with the classic track Common People reaching #2 on the UK singles chart. The album explores sex and class with Jarvis Cocker's biting, witty lyrics taking a perfect snapshot of mid 90s English suburban and working class life. A stone cold Britpop classic reissued on 180 gram vinyl by Plain Recordings.

20th Century Women (Music From The Motion Picture)

Director Mike Mills first made his mark on the silver screen with the Academy Award-winning film Beginners, but his back catalog is also filled with a number of music videos, including those for songs by Everything But The Girl ("Temperamental"), Moby ("Run On"), Air ("All I Need"), Mansun ("Legacy"), Pulp ("Party Hard"), and Air ("Sexy Boy"). His appreciation of music also extends to the soundtracks of his films, and with 20TH CENTURY WOMEN, his latest cinematic endeavor, he's managed to put together one of the most musically diverse compilations in recent memory.

This is not praise derived from a desire to play up new product. This is simply the reality of the situation. How else to describe a compilation which sandwiches "Basin Street Blues," by Louis Armstrong & His Hot Five between tracks by Talking Heads and The Raincoats? We're talking about a musical landscape which finds Fred Astaire, Benny Goodman, and Rudy Vallee rubbing elbows with Siouxsie and the Banshees, Devo, and the Buzzcocks. It shouldn't work, and yet somehow it does.

    1. "Don't Worry About The Government" - Talking Heads

    Standing At The Sky's Edge

New Album from the Ex-Pulp Member!

The gloves are off. This is my angry record. - Richard Hawley

Leave Your Body Behind You finds Richard Hawley inspired by the grief felt at the passing of friends, contemplating our place in the cosmos, coming on all 13th Floor Elevators in a celebratory valediction, urging us to accept how tiny we are in the grand scheme of things and to try and make the most of the time we have.

Hawley says of the song, So much damage has been done to this world by people who get all their knowledge from one book, be it the Bible or whatever. Adding, If we could just allow ourselves to be liberated by the fact that this is our only time here, we could just get on with what really matters. I really think we could have put a man on the moon 1,000 years ago if we accepted that.

The song perfectly encapsulates what is to be found on Hawley's forthcoming seventh album, Standing At The Sky's Edge. Recorded at Sheffield's Yellow Arch Studio in 2011, the 9-song set marks a seismic shift in direction for Hawley. A euphoric, sonic assault of the senses, channeling elements of psychedelia, space rock and ragas with heavy riffs and raw, visceral guitar solos, as well as more familiar, tender moments, it will surprise Hawley fans and peers alike!

    Separations

Almost a decade before their status as press darlings and eccentric purveyors of weird and wonderful pop music, a deeply disturbed Sheffield pop group crafted a brace of loveably awkward pop classics, most notably the controversial Little Girl (With Blue Eyes). Pulp were simply awesome and undeniably strange, ranging from Scott Walker balladeering to post-punk, avant-garde aggressiveness.

Fire Records will be reissuing the first three Pulp albums as part of their Embers series. Constituting three very different stages in the development of the band, the albums cover a staggering sonic range from the pastoral, acoustic sounds of It (1983), to the darkly romantic Freaks (1987) and the disco-tinged Separations (1992). They point to Jarvis Cocker's varied sources of musical inspiration and show a band in the process of finding their own unique voice, whilst hinting at the greatness that would follow. All three come newly re-mastered and beautifully repackaged, complete with additional bonus material and brand new liner-notes by Everett True.

By 1992 Pulp had already transformed from their debut It through the dark electronic phase of Freaks and were garnering significant momentum. Now critically acclaimed and with a live reputation matched by only a few, most of the songs on their third and final album Separations, sound fully-realized in that undeniably Pulp manner that was soon to be experienced everywhere. And, for the first time, there was an inescapable disco pulse. This is the transition album where Pulp, caught between a doomed romantic outsider past and an acid-bright future, made an album that brilliantly reflects both.

Separations spawned two of Pulp's most successful singles to date in Countdown and My Legendary Girlfriend, with the latter topping the singles of 1991 lists by major music publications. This definiitve reissue features four bonus tracks, including Death Goes To The Disco, Is This House as well as an extended version of the single Countdown and the previously unreleased Death Comes To Town.

As one of their most honest recordings, It captures a band at the very beginning of their startling career. It is a gentle, mainly acoustic album, hinting at the musical directions Pulp would later pursue. The record touches on the majestic, theatrical ballads of Scott Walker as well as the stark, folky song-poems of Leonard Cohen. Produced by a young band in the process of pinpointing their direction, the album has aged beautifully into a charming collection.

The reissue features 4 bonus tracks including single version of My Lighthouse, an alternative mix of Blue Girls, as well as the previously unreleased Sink Or Swim and Please Don't Worry from Pulp's John Peel session in 1981.

Pulp had changed significantly since their debut It. By this time every member bar Jarvis Cocker had moved on but the addition of Russell Senior proved to be a pivotal turning point for the band. No longer did Pulp sound pastoral, easy-natured; now they were darkly romantic, brooding, noisy and a little bit Gothic, in the way young folk who brush their hair a certain way are always a little bit Gothic. Pulp were out-of-tune with the times: but the times didn't satisfy Pulp.

Freaks is quite marvellous. Most of these songs stand the distance of time: it was here, possibly even more than 1992's Separations, that Pulp started coming into their own as a band with a fully-realized aesthetic.

The first LP is the original album, unaltered and in its entirety. The second is a bonus LP comprised of tracks from the two big non-album singles from the same era, Little Girl (With Blue Eyes) and Dogs are Everywhere. Two further B-sides Tunnel and Manon complete the second LP for the definitive Freaks period release.

    Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof Soundtrack

    Daredevil, cult-film hero-directors
    Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp

    Heretic Pride

The Mountain Goats have recorded four fine albums that have established them as a genuine cult phenomenon and confirmed John Darnielle's status as one of the finest lyricists of his generation. Heretic Pride is a suite of songs about mythical creatures, imaginary cults, slasher films, and pulp fiction novelists. Here, Darnielle has also come up with some of the most anthemic, impassioned, and downright catchy songs of his career. It's rare to come across such specific and purposeful prose in modern pop. But, alongside Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and the Decemberists' Colin Meloy, John Darnielle is helping bring fine lyric writing back to life - NY Daily News.

    Reservoir Dogs

    20th Anniversary Edition!

Reservoir Dogs is the pulp novel I always wanted to write. Although the story is very much present day, it has a '50s feel but I used music from the '70s. In one scene, the audience learns that a local radio station is hosting a Super 70s weekend and that's why I am using and referencing the bubblegum music that was popular during that period. I found that the music was a terrific counterpoint to the action on the screen. -Quentin Tarantino

    Includes Graphic Novel

Soul Jazz Records new release Inner City Beat! Detective Themes, Spy Music and Imaginary Thrillers 1967-1975 is a unique 2LP release that comes with an exclusive limited-edition, specially created 60-page graphic novel (by the mysterious cult 1960's pulp-fiction writer Mark 'Badly' Antingham). The music on the album is a killer selection of funky, deep, rare, exciting and dance floor heavyweight 'spy themes', 'detective music' and thriller from the 1960s and 1970s. The music spans heavyweight break-beat funk, deep and heavy jazz, super-catchy mod themes, imaginary super-charged orchestral soundtracks and more. These tracks are put together from British library music companies (DeWolfe, KPM, Conroy, Amphonic) all of whom supplied music regularly to television and film around the world during this period, often for use in detective and spy programmers, series and films. To accompany this unique album, Soul Jaxx have also commissioned the creation of a special 60-page graphic novel which features the stunning artwork of the elusive illustrator John C. Pattereson in partnership with the celebrated 1960's pulp fiction cult novelist Mark 'Badly" Antingham. The graphic novel is set in the imaginary seedy streets of East London in the 1960's, in a world full of corrupt police, political intrigue and violent sadistic criminals. This unique limited-edition graphic novel comes free with the initial run of the album Inner City Beat. This vinyl album also includes the full graphic novel. There is also a worldwide digital download release for this Soul Jazz Records release.

    Dust Lane

Yann Tiersen, already a major performer in his native France and throughout Europe, makes his ANTIâ€and official U.S. debut with Dust Lane. Best known here for his soundtracks for arthouse hits Amelie and Goodbye Lenin, Tiersen is a classically trained composer, whose arresting scores combine folk song, French impressionism, and avant-garde elements into vast emotional landscapes. For Dust Lane, Tiersen has created a cinematic orchestral pop record that recalls the swagger of classic Serge Gainsbourg, the bravura of early Eno, and the faded musicâ€hall grandeur of Brits like Pulp and Divine Comedy. Veering from sunny folk inspired songs to full choir workouts, Dust Lane is ambitious in the way albums used to be in the early '70s: an auspicious U.S. arrival for a new artist.

First Urge Overkill Album in 16 Years!

Almost two decades since their Exit the Dragon album and it's Pulp Fiction hit Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon, founding members Nash Kato and Eddie Roeser have decided to reform the group. Joined by former Gaza Strippers guitarist, Hadji Hodgkiss on bass and Cherry Valence's Bon Quast on drums, the Chicago band released the first song off the new album, Effigy in the Fall of 2010 to great response from fans and critics alike. With the energy of their past album's fusion of arena rock and punk coupled with the evolution of Kato and Roeser's songwriting over the years, Rock & Roll Submarine is set to deliver a new breed of Urge Overkill to the eagerly awaiting masses.

Barry Adamson's work as a bassist for Magazine and
Nick Cave's Bad Seeds gave little indication of the
complex, cinematic works he has composed as a solo
    artist.

After leaving the Bad Seeds in 1987, Adamson
decided to follow the path of film composers like John
Barry, Ennio Morricone, and Bernard Herrmann,
whose work had intrigued him since childhood.
After some releases with more of a beat-heavy pop
feel, Adamson moved back into the land of noirish
soundtrack with the release of 1996's Oedipus
    Schmoedipus.

Nick Cave adds a guest vocal to (and co-writes) "The
Sweetest Embrace"; Pulp's Jarvis Cocker can be
heard on the co-written "Set the Controls for the Heart
of the Pelvis". Adamson's skill in layering and devising
unusual sound textures still qualifies him as one of
experimental rock's more imaginative composers and
producers. With this reissue, Oedipus Schmoedipus is
being released on vinyl for the first time.

    The Making Of

The Bohicas debut album The Making Of lands blow after blow. A barrage of killer hooks, razor blade riffs and choruses that slap you in the face, grab your hand and lead you onto the dance floor. All shot through with pulp imagery torn from the pages of a graphic novel. Their story begins in Essex where as schoolmates they first came together over a love of The Beatles, The Kinks, Ray Charles and the new wave of guitar bands who emerged at the start of the century after the scrag ends of Britpop had finally limped off. The album was was produced by Mark Rankin (Queens Of The Stone Age, Bombay Bicycle Club), Chris 'Merrick' Hughes (Tears For Fears, Adam And The Ants) and Oli Bayston (Toy, Boxed In). The Making Of is 21st Century rock and roll.

    Texas Funeral

Reissue of a long out of print Texan cult classic. On black, regular weight vinyl.

We don't even know how this record landed in our lap. After a series of one-word phone calls exchanged between our offices in Nashville and a quonset hut in Marfa, Texas a mysterious package arrived via Lonely Express (''it's like the Pony Express, only slower and with booze!'') and contained within were the tumbleweed-encrusted master tapes to the mythical ''Texas Funeral'' album.

Originally released in 1985 by the ever-secretive band Jon Wayne, ''Texas Funeral'' is the quintessential cult classic. There is no fence-sitting with this album. You're either fully-indoctrinated and can recite the catch-phrase lyrics like ''Faders up!'', ''Ain't no country I know!'', ''No go diggy die'' and the all-purpose ''Texasss!'' or you can't stand it in the least. Rumor was that Quentin Tarantino wanted to include the song ''Texas Funeral'' on the soundtrack for Pulp Fiction but couldn't even get ahold of the band to license the damn thing. The songs are funny without venturing into comedy, they are punk without resorting to cheap-o pastiche and they are country in the spirit of Merle Haggard and other like-minded renegades. To our ears, this album sounds as fresh as it did when we first heard it and we are beyond proud to release it in hopes of initiating more folks into the cult.

    Hit It Or Quit It

25th Anniversary Reissue Of Girl Trouble's 1988 Debut LP

Featuring Two Bonus Tracks Exclusive To This Release, "White Lightning" And "Shakin' All Over."

Hit It Or Quit It Was Originally A Co-Release Between K And Sub Pop, And It Was The First Full-length That Sub Pop Ever Released.

Tacoma, Washington, 1988: A town where hazardous waste and
pulp mill fumes smelled like a breath of fresh air, old buildings were
being leveled in order to revitalize a dying downtown, forests and
farmlands were giving way to industrial parks and shopping malls, a
cultural event was wrestling at the Tacoma Dome, and Girl Trouble
could be found practicing with their plywood speaker cabinets and a
drum set purchased for $70 from the Sears surplus store in a shed
beside Bon and Kahuna's parent's house, where they still practice
    today.

This reissue of Girl Trouble's debut album, Hit It Or Quit It [KLP229],
includes eleven original songs, one Northwest classic (Steppin'
Out by Paul Revere & The Raiders), and two bonus tracks. To keep
the energy level up and the over-production level down, these songs
were recorded live with only an occasional added guitar or vocal
track. With the minimal pounding of Bon's drums, the steady cool of
Dale on bass, the buzzsaw scream from Kahuna's Ouija guitar, and
the rabid rock 'n' roll stylings of K.P. Kendall, Girl Trouble continues
playing throughout the Northwest, 30-plus years on.

So that's the story, kids. Use it or lose it. It's my way or the highway. Eat
it or wear it. Hit It or Quit It!

DALI ZENSOR 3 is the newest member of the award winning ZENSOR series. This brand new speaker is developed and built to sound much larger than it actually is. Using a 7" woofer based on the technology from the ZENSOR 7 and the tweeter module from the ZENSOR 1, the ZENSOR 3 is able to recreate the high frequencies, the mid range and the low bass in the best possible way..

We have designed the cabinet so that it is large enough to deliver a sufficient, controlled and deep bass and yet is small enough to be placed on a shelf or floor stand.

The woofer cones are made from a blend of fine grained paper pulp reinforced with wood fibres. This mix makes the cones stiff and light which ensures that every micro detail in the signal is reproduced unfiltered.

The 7" woofer increases the surface area by 15% compared to a 6½" woofer and this helps the ZENSOR 3 to deliver the same sound pressure with much less cone excursion, leading to an effortless reproduction of the dynamics in the music.

With a 4 layer voice coil magnet motor system the ZENSOR 3 produces an impressive 17% more B/L compared with speakers using the common 2 layer voice coil. A copper clad aluminum wire ensures optimal reproduction in the mid range, and the power of the magnet motor keep the bass controlled and precise.

The soft dome tweeter module has over and over again proved its ability to deliver a rich and detailed sound, and the module used in the ZENSOR 3 is no exception - delivering an extended frequency response with wide dispersion and low coloration.

Get busy living or get busy dying

1994 proved to be an amazing good year for movie theaters, as these classic films saw the light of day; Pulp Fiction, Lion King, Forrest Gump, Natural Born Killers and The Shawshank Redemption.

The Shawshank Redemption tells the story of Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a banker who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murder of his wife and her lover, despite his claims of innocence. During his time at the prison, he befriends a fellow inmate, Ellis Boyd Red Redding (Morgan Freeman), and finds himself protected by the guards after the warden begins using him in his money-laundering operation.

The film received multiple award nominations (including seven Oscar nominations) and highly positive reviews from critics for its acting, story, and realism. It is considered to be one of the greatest films of the 90s. Readers of Empire magazine voted the film as the best film of the 90s, and it placed number 4 on Empire's list of The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time in 2008. In March 2011, the film was voted by BBC Radio 1 listeners as their favorite film of all time. The Shawshank Redemption is the highest-rated movie on IMDB with an average star count of 9.3, closely followed by The Godfather.

The Shawshank Redemption score was composed by multiple (Grammy) award winner Thomas Newman. The score was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1994, which was Newman's first Oscar nomination.

A central scene in the film features the soprano Letter Duet (Canzonetta sull'aria) from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, which is included on the soundtrack. Original songs by Hank Williams and The Inkspots are included as well.

    For All We Know

" a spacey, smoldering update on '90s R&B, and a voice that's high and fluttery and commanding "

    -Pitchfork

"NAO is one of those artists that is pushing forth an exciting new era of R&B and soul."

    -Buzzfeed

NAO's debut album For All We Know will be released via RCA Records and is set to be one of the defining records of 2016.

Her emergence as one of the most adored new singers of the year has been as fluid and elegant as one of her vocal phrases. Now she has delivered her highly anticipated debut For All We Know, a transcendent set of 18 songs. Woozy, spacey funk, shot through with her effortless breath-taking toplines, part neo-soul, part UK bass, part funk rock - all at a sensual, stepping R&B pace.

The record features fan favorites "Girlfriend," "Inhale Exhale," "Bad Blood" and "Fool To Love" as well as incredible unheard tracks like "Trophy" - where NAO collaborates with A.K. Paul again - and "Get To Know Ya" co-produced by XL Recordings' Jungle. Other co-producers (NAO is credited as producer on 17 of the 18 tracks) include her good friends John Calvert ("In The Morning," "Blue Wine," "We Don't Give A"), GRADES ("Bad Blood," "Fool To Love," "Inhale Exhale," "Girlfriend") and LOXE ("Adore You," "Give Me A Little").

NAO grew up in South Woodford, East London, listening to gospel in her local Evangelical church, her brother's jungle UK garage and her sister's '90s and '00s R&B - going on to study at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She starting writing songs in her mid-twenties after a few years of teaching school kids to sing and doing backing vocal gigs for the likes of Pulp and Kwabs.

Inspired by Little Dragon, the ideas and words flowed, and she soon began working on her own songs, resulting in her 2014 debut EP, So Good. The EP's title track, made with A.K. Paul, whizzed around the world accumulating millions of plays on Soundcloud. NAO's 2015 follow-up EP, February 15, contained the single "Zillionaire" which was featured in a Samsung Galaxy commercial. By January 2016 she placed third in the high-profile BBC Sound Poll and her incredible year continues with a recent performance on Later with Jools Holland, the cover of The Guardian and rave reviews from Fader, Essence, Pitchfork, Entertainment Weekly, and more.

For All We Know is the record of a one-of-a-kind artist destined for greatness. A record you can dip your head into for a 360-degree spectrum of kaleidoscopic digi-funk.
