Partyman (Single)12 Maxi-Single Reissue
Featuring Partyman And Feel U Up
Partyman is a song by Prince from his 1989 Batman album, and the follow-up to his number one hit, Batdance. The song became the only Batman single to perform better in the UK, where it peaked at number 14, as opposed to the US (where it peaked at number 18). The upbeat and humorous number features horn samples and Prince's sped-up Camille vocals, as well as a vocal performance by Anna Fantastic. The 12 single extends the song to about six minutes in length (labeled as the Video Mix), and also includes a Purple Party Mix, which starts with a string of samples from Prince's earlier hits and contains different lyrics. It also includes the B-side Feel U Up, a previously unreleased Camille track which would later be available on The Hits/The B-Sides compilation.1. Partyman (The Purple Party Mix)

Batdance (Single)12 Maxi-Single Reissue
Featuring Batdance And 200 Balloons
Batdance was written for the 1989 Batman soundtrack. Helped by the film's popularity, the song reached number one in the US, becoming Prince's fourth American number-one single, and his first to achieve the feat of topping all 3 American charts since Kiss in 1986.
Batdance was a last-minute replacement for a brooding track titled Dance with the Devil, which Prince felt was too dark. It is almost two songs in one-a chaotic, mechanical dance beat that changes gears into a slinky, funky groove before changing back for the song's conclusion (except on the single version in which it eliminates the guitar solo before the middle section, then goes straight to the mechanical Joker laughter from the end of the movie and an earlier movie soundbyte of Michael Keaton saying Stop). The track is an amalgam of many musical ideas of Prince's at the time. Elements from at least seven songs (some unreleased) were incorporated into Batdance: 200 Balloons, We Got the Power, House in Order, Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic (later released on the album Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic), The Future, and Electric Chair. Some of these were mere snippets, and other segments showed up only in remixes of the track. The song was also loaded with dialog samples from the film.
The B-side to the Batdance is 200 Balloons, which was recorded for the film and serves as the musical blueprint for the main portion of Batdance. The song was rejected for the film by Tim Burton and replaced with Trust. The lyrics of 200 Balloons reference the scene which it was created for to a greater degree than the replacement track, which is only connected to the scene by the Joker asking Who do you trust? after the song ends. Prince did little more than replace the lyrics of 200 Balloons in its transition into Batdance. Only musical portions survived the transition, but full lyrics showed up in The Batmix(turn your head to the east, I be coming from the west). 200 Balloons also contains samples of House in Order and Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic; the latter was another song submitted for inclusion in the movie, but rejected (it was replaced by Partyman).1. Featuring Sign 'O' The Times And La, La, La, He, He, Hee
Sign o' the Times is the lead single from American musician Prince's 1987 album of the same name. The song was originally intended for two separate Prince albums meant to be released in 1986, that were both shelved: Dream Factory and Crystal Ball. Prince sings and performs the entire track except for some backing vocals by then-girlfriend Susannah Melvoin, sister of Wendy, then a guitarist in The Revolution. Sign o' the Times was written and composed on a Sunday, when Prince usually wrote his most introspective songs.1. Sign 'O' The Times

Pop Life (Single) (On Sale)12 Maxi-Single Reissue
Featuring Pop Life (Fresh Dance Mix) And Hello (12 Extended Remix Version)
Pop Life is a 1985 song by Prince and The Revolution. It was the second US (and final UK) single from their 1985 album, Around the World in a Day, reaching number 7 in the US charts. The song starts with a faded-in synth line and quickly starts the main tune. The easy groove is achieved with a smooth bass guitar and piano embellishments. A drum machine provides handclaps to make the song danceable. Pop Life was recorded before Purple Rain was completed, indicating the new direction Prince wanted to take after the success of that album and film.
The B-side of the track is Hello, written quickly as a response to those who criticized Prince's lack of participation in the We Are the World event. The angry lyrics lambaste the prying media and false friendships, and is driven by a pulsing beat. The extended version of the song ends with a spoken word by Prince, which contain some self-humor about his high-heeled shoes.1. Pop Life (Fresh Dance Mix)

I Wish U Heaven (Single)12 Maxi-Single Reissue
Featuring I Wish U Heaven And Scarlet Pussy
I Wish U Heaven is a joyful, spiritual song with few lyrics, which runs 2:43. The 12 single is a substantially extended three-part suite which runs over ten minutes.
Part One of the mix starts with a stripped-down version of the Lovesexy album song, remixed with a dance beat. The original drum programming and rhythmic electric guitar riffs are deleted for much of the song.
Part Two is a gospel rendition with new lyrics, continuing the spiritual theme. This part of the song was often sung in concert during the Lovesexy World Tour. The beginning of this section paraphrases lyrics from Housequake, from the previous album Sign O the Times. Prince also quotes the film Scarface with the lines Say hello to my little friend... and then introduces the Blue Angel, a new blue version of his custom White Cloud guitar featured in the film Purple Rain. Sheila E. is also given a call out, and her voice can be heard responding in this section.
Part Three is based on an outtake called Take This Beat and deviates quite a bit from the original theme. This segment has Prince using his Jamie Starr persona to humorously tout the fact that he's funky, musically talented, and has plenty of beats (songs) that are so fine. The song ends with a looped repeat of the title. This version of the song became one of the highlights during the supporting tour in which Prince would usually order the house lights to be turned up, and instruct the crowd during a call and response segment.
The B-side, Scarlet Pussy, is credited to Prince's alter ego, Camille. The song is very sexual, using metaphors of cats and dogs for sexual organs, a theme Prince previously used for the B-side La, La, La, He, He, Hee. Prince uses his sped-up Camille vocals, as well as a slowed-down vocal, similar to Bob George from The Black Album. The song features a saxophone solo from Eric Leeds. The decision to include such a raunchy song with the spiritual A-side was noteworthy. The edit of Scarlet Pussy was included on 1993's The Hits/The B-Sides.1. I Wish U Heaven (Part 1, 2, & 3)

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (Single)12 Maxi-Single Reissue
Featuring I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man And Hot Thing
I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man is a song originally recorded in Prince's home studio in 1982. The song is an upbeat pop number featuring a combination of live drumming with two drum machine patterns. Also featured are two guitar solos, one wild and energetic and one more bluesy and subdued in the full album cut. The lyrics paint the image of a woman seeking a man to replace the one who left, while Prince refuses, saying that she would not be satisfied with a one-night stand. The music and accompanying music video pushed this song to the top 10 in the US.
The 12-inch single includes the full album version of I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, as well as several remixes of Hot Thing. One of these was included on the Ultimate compilation album in 2006. Hot Thing received enough airplay by DJs to chart on its own, reaching #63.1. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

Top Ten Hits Of The End Of The WorldIt's 2012, and Prince Rama has made the Top Ten Hits of the End of the World. Conceived as a pseudo-compilation album, the Brooklyn duo invented ten different pop bands that died during the apocalypse, channeling the ghosts of each one to perform the various songs. Spanning genres and stylistic eras from across the globe, Top Ten Hits explores pop music's relationship to memory, nostalgia, and the spirit world.
Incorporating influences as disparate as cosmic disco, motorcycle rock, new-wave, grunge, tribal goth, Arabic pop, and ghost-modern glam, Prince Rama filters each sound through the destroyed lens of a post-apocalyptic future looking back at the wonders of its sonic past. Tracking began with Tim Koh in Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti's studio and was then completed and mixed with producer Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Sun City Girls, Arcade Fire) at Gravelvoice in Seattle.
Top Ten Hits of the End of the World isn't just a pop album, it's a retrospective requiem of all pop albums ever made. Nothing like this has ever been attempted by a single band, and its residual echoes will continue to haunt this world and the next. LP comes with digital download card.1. Blade Of Austerity
