Workout (Pre-Order)Cut At 33 1/3 RPM By Kevin Gray At Cohearent Audio From The Original Rudy Van Gelder Blue Note Master Tapes
Pressed On 180 Gram Virgin Vinyl LP By RTI
Top Quality Gatefold Packaging With Laminated Covers & High Quality Session Photos
In a word association game, the name "Hank Mobley" will often generate "Blue Note" and vice versa. While Mobley had a musical life beyond the Blue Note label including associations with Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and Miles Davis (the 1961 Quintet), it is for his Blue Note recordings that he rightfully most remembered. Mobley led 25 albums for Blue Note and appeared on over 30 others as a sideman. His consistency resulted in all of those recordings being recommended to hard bop collectors. Mobley's mastery of the style, his attractive tone, and his skill at writing songs that inspire memorable solos made him a perfect representative of the Blue Note sound. Even with his large number of great recordings, Workout is something special and a real standout. Joined by Grant Green, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, Mobley creates brilliant statements on four of his best originals (including the soulful "Uh Huh" and "Greasin' Easy"), "The Best Things In Life Are Free" and "Three Coins In A Fountain." The passion in Mobley's playing is exciting and will surprise many. He takes wild chances that challenge the other all-stars, and he plays with a constant stream of creative ideas. Even collectors who own a dozen other Hank Mobley albums will have to get this version of Workout which, with its superb remastering, has never sounded better.

Quintessence (Pre-Order)1976 Session Featuring Harold Land, Kenny Burrell, Ray Brown & Philly Joe Jones
Bill Evans was such a force as a trio pianist that people tend to overlook his quintet sessions. This 1976 date was one of Evans's personal favorites within that context. Featuring longtime friend Philly Joe Jones plus Harold Land, Kenny Burrell, and Ray Brown, the ensemble is stellar to say the least; and the players strike a comfortably creative groove on a program that includes originals by trumpeters Thad Jones and Kenny Wheeler, plus Burrell's blowing tune Bass Face.1. Communique (45 RPM) (Pre-Order) (On Sale)
Smooth, Effortless, Relaxed, Tuneful, And Deceivingly Simple: Dire Straits' Communique Teems With Technical Perfectionism, Southern-Styled Grooves, And Low-Key Blues
Reference-Level Detail, Depth, Soundstaging, Balance, And Presence: Communique Has Never Sounded Better Than On Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP Version
Mark Knopfler's Mesmerizing Textures, Intricate Lines, And Crisp Tones Pair With Engaging Storytelling And Tight Rhythms: Every Song An Example Of Understated Virtuosity
The performances on Dire Straits' Communique are so smooth and effortless, they were originally criticized for replicating the blueprints of the band's breakout debut. Time, however, has a way of changing perspectives and exposing the truth. More than 35 years after its original release in June 1979, Communique rightfully takes its place as the group's most underrated record - a nine-track set spiked with engaging storytelling, relaxed vibes, and deceiving simplicity.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP set of Communique elevates Dire Straits' sophomore album to an even higher plane. Recorded in the Bahamas by Muscle Shoals veterans Barry Beckett and Jerry Wexler, the songs benefit from a laidback approach that makes guitarist/vocalist Mark Knopfler and company's stellar playing seem even more fluent - particularly when experienced on this collector's 45RPM version, on which the wider grooves allow for more detail retrieval and deeper musical insight.
Knopfler's mesmerizing guitar textures and composed vocals appear as if they're right in front of you, holding court amidst expansive soundstages and deep-black backgrounds. Details, imaging, and presence are on a level associated with the finest audiophile recordings. You'll be hard-pressed to find another LP with cleaner, pinpoint-accurate tones. Mobile Fidelity's LP also brings into transparent view Knopfler's seemingly perfect intricate lines as well as the simpatico accompaniment from his band mates. Whole, lively, and balanced, the bass and drums arrive with a solidity rarely heard on albums of this era. Communique has truly never sounded better.
Of course, the audiophile sonics mean little if the artistic content is lacking. Needless to say, Dire Straits' technical perfectionism and creative elan prevail throughout. Knopfler's penchant for sketching cynical characters is further developed on moody tracks like Where Do You Think You're Going and News, while Wexler's presence at the boards ensures the band keeps the rhythms extra tight. The quartet's low-key blues and swampy, Southern-styled grooves turn every song into an exercise in understated virtuosity.
Refusing to give into excess, magnetic tunes such as Lady Writer and Angel of Mercy split a fine line between insinuating and insisting. The group shows off a combination of control, virtuosity, and tunefulness that harkens back to a rock n' roll's classic period while also pointing the way ahead. Need indisputable evidence of Dire Straits' compositional strengths? Cue up the closing Follow Me Home on this pressing and get lost amidst the peacefulness of the gentle surf and chirping crickets that frame the song. Heavenly.
The sequence serves as additional proof that Communique remains one of the best-sounding rock records ever made.

Dire Straits (45 RPM) (Pre-Order) (On Sale)
Dire Straits' Self-Titled 1978 Debut Distinguished By Jazz-Inflected Mix Of Folk, Blues, Country, And Rock: Guitarist Mark Knopfler Displays Uncanny Precision, Intricacy, And Texture
Mastered From The Original Master Tapes And Pressed At RTI For Optimal Sound: Mobile Fidelity 45RPM 2LP Set Engages With Natural Tones, Superb Balances, Reference Imaging, Sterling Clarity
Breakout Dire Straits Album Includes Sultans Of Swing And Down To The Waterline: Band's Shuffles, Boogies, And Ballads Spark With Crispness, Soulfulness, Coolness
Dire Straits' arresting self-titled debut arrived in the midst of punk's reign but couldn't have been further removed from the era's slash-and-burn style. Recorded in West London in February 1978, the band's tasteful, jazz-inflected set embraces folk, blues, and pub rock while also tracing a direct line back to the beat-oriented sound of early rock n' roll. Country and roots accents further distinguish the British quartet's stripped-down music from any 1970s peers, as does the transparent production, which has remained revered among audiophiles the world over - and which has never been better than on this meticulous analog pressing.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP version of Dire Straits features natural tonalities, superb balances, you-are-there imaging, deep-black backgrounds, and pristine clarity. Even if you've heard this album hundreds of times before, you've never experienced it with such lifelike sonics and premium richness. This numbered, limited-edition collector's set immerses you within the smoky, laidback atmospherics of every song. This is how all vinyl should sound.
Crucial to every arrangement, Mark Knopfler's winding guitar lines emerge with supreme transparency and multi-hued textural detail. His intricate playing comes across as if it's being transmitted via his 60s-era Fender Vibrolux amplifier placed right before you. The cleanliness, dimensions, and live feel are that good. His bandmates, too, benefit from the extra groove space afforded by this 45RPM edition. Rhythms skate and swirl; percussive effects resonate with crispness and attack; the leading edges of notes naturally decay.
Dire Straits' strong, well-edited batch of original material further enhances the overall enjoyment and makes the record one whose pleasures go far beyond the organic sonics. Just as Knopfler's narratives pour forth with poetic and surrealist texts, the musical settings - an intoxicating combination of easygoing shuffles, back-hall boogies, and pop-honed ballads - mirror the old-fashioned soulfulness inherent in the classic recordings of the late 50s and early 60s. The lyrics are equally captivating.
Drawing from his time as a youth in Newcastle, Leeds, and London, Knopfler invests tunes with an autobiographical slant and emotional connectivity that become obvious the moment he opens his mouth to sing. Down to the Waterline, Wild West End, and Lions all feature colloquial touches that add to their reach. By extension, In the Gallery functions as a tribute to Leeds sculptor Harry Phillips (father of future Knoplfer collaborator, Steve Phillips) while the record's breakout smash, Sultans of Swing, pays homage to struggling bar bands.
Through it all, Dire Straits performs with a subtle cool and clever poise that no band ever matched. Just how good is the chemistry? Bob Dylan heard the quartet and invited Knopfler and drummer Pick Withers to play on Slow Train Coming. But even Dylan himself didn't hear Dire Straits sound this magnetic back in its original heyday. Now, everyone can.

Love Over Gold (45 RPM) (Pre-Order) (On Sale)
Dire Straits Stretch Out With Extended, Ambitious Arrangements And Moody Atmospherics: Love Over Gold Mesmerizes With Tension, Contrast, Interplay, And Craftsmanship
Mobile Fidelity 45RPM 2LP Set Of Love Over Gold Touts Unsurpassed Spaciousness, Imaging, And Transparency: Mastered From The Original Tapes, Music Emerges With New Details And Tones
Love Over Gold Includes The Epic Telegraph Road And Aching Private Investigations: Heartfelt Narrative Songs Steeped In Patience, Drama, Sadness, And Romance
Love Over Gold is all about contrast, tension, and crafty composition. Dire Straits' fourth album finds the band continuing to evolve by welcoming increasingly bold arrangements and exploring moody variations. Parts edgy and sharp, and part seductive and relaxed, the five lengthy songs on Love Over Gold sprawl out like a long, winding road cutting through a pastoral landscape. The addition of a new rhythm guitarist, Hal Lindes, encourages deeper atmospheric interplay while the presence of engineer Neil Dorfsman - his first appearance in what would be a long string of collaborations with Mark Knopfler - ensures stunning sonic properties that now come to life like never before.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP version of Love Over Gold teems with superb balances, front-to-back soundstages, and crystalline purity. The dead-quiet surfaces and extra-wide grooves bring forward previously obscured details, extra information, and mastering-studio-quality transients. The distinctive textures of a host of instruments - marimbas, acoustic and electric guitars, vibes, synthesizers - further enhance the ambitiousness of the 1982 album.
On this audiophile pressing, everything Knopfler does seemingly turn to gold. Gearheads will hear the unique characteristics afforded by his use of a Mesa Boogie Mark II guitar amplifier (soon again employed on Brothers in Arms) and carefully chosen selection of Schecter Stratocasters, 1937 National steel guitar, and Ovation six- and twelve-string models. Reference-level separation and lifelike imaging place Knopfler and company in your room, while tube-like warmth, spaciousness, and airiness causes the music to breathe anew. This LP will be in your rotation for months.
It doesn't take long to realize Love Over Gold is like no other Dire Straits album - and a staunch proclamation of independence from a band that continued to take longer creative strides with each successive project. Fearlessly extending over metaphoric hills, valleys, and plains for nearly 14-and-a-half minutes, the opening Telegraph Road is a guitar hero's dream and exhilarating showcase for Lindes' give-and-take capabilities. In tandem with keyboardist Alan Clark, Lindes provides the ideal foil for not only Knopfler but the long-time rhythm section of bassist John Illsley and drummer Pick Withers.
Taking its time to arrive at destinations, the quintet paints evocative musical and lyrical portraits steeped in patience, drama, and, often times, sadness. Desolate emotions color the sweeping Telegraph Road and barren Private Investigations, which finds Knopfler in the role of a tired private eye contemplating the emptiness and scars of his profession. Vocally, the Dire Straits leader remains in top form throughout, his whiskey-coated rasp conveying romantic ache, ongoing frustration, and what Rolling Stone beautifully deemed wracking schizophrenia between the heart and the heartless, the loving and the pain.
Called Dire Straits' prog-rock statement, Love Over Gold is a classic that defies labeling and avoids aging.

Immobilarity is the second studio album and the follow-up to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx by Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon (a.k.a. The Chef). Raekwon has been cited as a pioneer of Mafioso rap and is the founder of his own label ICEH20 Records.
The producers Triflyn, The Infinite Arkatechz, and Six July Productions gave Immobilarity the same sounds which producer RZA gave to Raekwon's first album with ill beats and street lyrics.
Fellow rappers from the Wu-Tang Clan also appear on the album such as Method Man on Fuck Them, Power with the American Cream Team and The Table featuring Masta Killa. As a nice bonus attribute, there's even a solid Pete Rock produced track Sneakers with Raekwon's flowing rhymes.
Raekwon explained that the album title is an acronym for I Move More Officially by Implementing Loyalty and Respect in the Youth.

Sketches (Pre-Order)Classically trained pianist, violinist, producer, and composer, Poppy Ackroyd turned heads in the neo-classical world with her previous works Escapement and Feathers, as well as her involvement in Hidden Orchestra (Tru Thoughts). Advocated by giants of the genre, Hauschka and Nils Frahm, the unique musician has returned with a mini-album to be released on Bjork's label One Little Indian Records.
The songs serve to reintroduce listeners to Ackroyd's most stunning pieces from her previous albums, all of which have been reworked into 'acoustic' solo piano arrangements alongside four brand new unheard pieces, which offer a taste of a new forthcoming record.
The record, aptly named Sketches, due to its stripped down nature, is bejeweled by thematic undercurrents - birds are the inspiration for three of the tracks, which are to be released together as the lead singles from the album.
'Birdwoman' and 'Glass Sea' feature field recordings of birds and the ocean, recorded on Brighton Beach and North Rona respectively. 'Feathers' is the title track of my second album Feathers says Ackroyd, discussing the theme of birds.
'Feathers' is a piece about hope - 'Hope is the thing with Feathers' (Emily Dickinson), 'Birdwoman' is a reworking of a piece I originally wrote as a soundtrack to a silent film based on a Siberian folk tale, and 'Glass Sea' attempts to capture the feel of a boat trip I took to the remote islands of North Rona and Sula Sgeir, North of the Outer Hebrides. The ocean was unusually still, reflecting the sky like a sheet of glass, but the sky became busy with birds as we approached the islands.
Ackroyd is a keen collaborator, having created soundtracks for film, dance, physical theater and radio. The artist won a BAFTA for an animation soundtrack that she wrote and performed in 2015. Through studying contemporary classical piano works and listening to electronic music, Ackroyd developed a unique compositional style, using contemporary pianistic ideas whilst also inhabiting the world of sound beyond the keyboard, using unconventional techniques to 'play' other parts of the instruments as well.
Talking about the recording of Sketches, Ackroyd said: The songs were recorded just outside of Brighton at Retreat Studios, close to the sea on the edge of the village, surrounded by hills, fields, and wildlife. As if by magic, it began to rain just before I began to record the track 'Rain', and ended shortly after I finished. You can hear the rain build and then die away with the music on the finished piece.
I have loved creating this solo piano album. There are normally all these layers that I use to create a world of sound, that I love to build and sculpt, but there is something really special about communicating simply through the instrument alone. With other layers there is always something to hide behind, with only the piano you can just focus on your technique and expression, everything feels very audible and exposed and that is very exciting, especially in a live context.1. Monochrome (Pre-Order)ANATHEMA'S PIONEERING SONGWRITER DANIEL CAVANAGH RELEASES DEBUT SOLO ALBUM
Riding the waves of his success with Anathema's latest album 'The Optimist', which includes a worldwide headline tour, multiple summer music festivals and an Album of the Year nomination for the 2017 Progressive Music Awards, Daniel Cavanagh releases his debut solo album, Monochrome.
Inspired by internal feelings of love and loss, 'Monochrome' is a deeply reflective and personal offering. Cavanagh elaborates: The album has a late night, candlelit feeling, evoking the light of dusk as the summer sun sinks below the horizon, setting the scene for thoughts and meditations that many people will relate to.
A lot of this material could easily have made it on to the last Anathema album or any future album; that's how highly the band rate it. There are several highlights: The Exorcist and The Silent Flight of the Raven Winged Hours are among some of my best works of the last decade. Taking them from the band was not an easy decision but I am glad; they're so personal as to not need more input.
Monochrome features Anneke Van Giersbergen - ex-vocalist for The Gathering, who has since sung with Devin Townsend, Árstíðir, Anathema and Arjen Lucassen - and the exceptionally talented Anna Phoebe provides violin on three of the album tracks. Recorded at Grammy Award-winning Parr Street Studios, engineered by Andrea Wright, mastered by Anathema's Daniel Cardoso, and with artwork by illustrator Danny Branscombe, this album is stacked to be a special addition to the Kscope family.1. Chrome (Pre-Order)First Pressing Of 1500 Numbered Copies On Silver Vinyl, Black Vinyl Thereafter
Long before groups like Oasis and Blur provoked cross-Atlantic media hype, Catherine Wheel were evolving the Britpop style that typifies the genre's distinction. With the release of Chrome in 1993, they advanced their dreamy pop to the rock sound.
It's not like Catherine Wheel established their sound with Chrome, either. Ferment [MOVLP1880] was considered their supposed magnum opus, with the extremely successful lead-single Black Metallic. Chrome is more appropriately described as a perfection of their established sound, as the band's metallic shoegaze is refined in terms of both intensity and melodic-content. Every element that made Ferment so memorable and enjoyable is amplified in this release. Rob Dickenson sings with perfect tenor appeal on tracks like Kill Rhythm and Crank, highlighting the personal temperaments which shape the album.
There are quite a few album covers out there that flawlessly encapsulate the atmosphere and/or mood of the music contained. Chrome has one of those covers. It's design came from the collective Hipgnosis, who gained international prestige for the cover of Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd.

Skinny Puppy exploded onto the electronic industrial music scene with 1984's Remission, fusing elements of new wave, techno dance, film noir, and innovative sampling. Lead by cEvin Key and Nivek Ogre, the band quickly garnered an international fanbase and followed up their new success with 1985's Bites, which produced their first underground hit, Assimilate. Restored to their original track listing and design, Remission and Bites are now available on vinyl for the first time in over 25 years.1. Smothered Hope

Five (Pre-Order)The number five holds a deep significance. We have five senses. Five points adorn a star. Five represents man in theology. For the five members of Hollywood Undead-Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog, Charlie Scene, Funny Man, and Danny-the digit perfectly encapsulates their fifth full-length offering- V (FIVE).
The band recently announced the album's first single, California Dreaming. Powered by neck-snapping guitars and fast and furious bars, the song cycles between guttural rapping and quick quips. Everything culminates on the choral chant We never sleep, in California we're dreaming.
It dissects both sides of California, J-Dog reveals. You've got the glitz, glamour, sun, and surf. Then, you've got the super fucked side of people not being able to afford rent, celebrities being assholes, and that fake façade. We wanted to do a heavy song with a Red Hot Chili Peppers-esque chorus. It's an old school vibe explored in a new way.
We're five brothers, and this is our fifth record, affirms Johnny 3 Tears. Nothing gets to the essence of the music like this number does. Numerology has a lot of power. When we said Five, it just made sense. The fact that we could all agree on one word codifies who we are. It also nods back to 'No. 5' from our first album, because it was our fifth song. Moreover, it hints at this secret society of fans supporting us for the past decade. The number is significant, and this is a significant moment for us.1. California Dreaming
