David Gilmour - Live at Pompeii (Pre-Order)

Live At Pompeii is the project from David Gilmour, and follows his critically acclaimed studio album Rattle That Lock from September of 2015.

Following the release of Rattle That Lock in 2015, David Gilmour set out to play a series of concerts in historic venues across the world. On July 7th and 8th, 2016, David Gilmour performed two spectacular shows at the legendary Pompeii Amphitheatre in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, 45 years after he first played there for Adrian Maben's classic film Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii. The concerts were the first-ever rock performances played to an audience in the ancient Roman amphitheatre, which was built in 90 BC and entombed in ash when Vesuvius erupted in AD 79. David Gilmour is the only performer to play to an audience in the arena since the time of the gladiators, almost 2,000 years ago.

Speaking about the Pompeii shows David Gilmour commented 'It's a magical place and coming back and seeing the stage and the arena was quite overwhelming. It's a place of ghosts...'.

    Animals

Animals is innovative and musically diverse. Inspired in part by George Orwell's political fable Animal Farm, Roger Waters condemns the avarice and inequalities of capitalism, metaphorically and musically grouping humans as pigs, dogs, and sheep. The pigs are self-righteous hypocrites inflicting their beliefs on everyone else, the dogs greedy money-grabbers, and the sheep witless followers. Dark, cynical, and brilliantly composed, Animals is an ingenious and under-acknowledged album. -Naomi Gesinger

    Dark Side Of The Moon

Ranked 43/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Remastered From The Original Analogue Tapes By James Guthrie, Joel Plante, And Bernie Grundman

Pink Floyd's most successful and singularly defining album is here to stay. The Dark Side of the Moon has sold over 40 million copies worldwide since its release in 1973, and it shows no signs of letting up. With lush, immaculate production and sweeping instrumentals, The Dark Side of the Moon is unrivaled in sonic brilliance. The complex textures found within have captivated audiophiles for over thirty years.

With lyrics about seemingly mundane details set against dreamy, atmospheric backdrops, the songs on The Dark Side of the Moon achieve a truly emotional response. Performances are not virtuosic, but they are brilliant nonetheless and were likewise brilliantly recorded. Abbey Road Studios engineer Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd made use of some of the most advanced techniques available at the time to craft a sound that was innovative yet entirely classic, by any sense of the word. Swirling organs, mellow drums, and spacious guitars are signature sounds that have been inextricably linked with Pink Floyd's magnificent songwriting.

The Dark Side of the Moon is a peerless entry in the annals of classic rock history. No record collection should be without this multi-platinum masterpiece.

A new force in song craft, Cate Le Bon resides in Cardiffm Wales's French quarter and befitting a songwriter who only writes in the dark, her music is a heady and personal Gallic stew of equal parts Nico, Malkmus and the chronicler's own observations on the impossibility of existence. Drawing on her experiences of the last year, Cate created collection of pop nuggets imbued with the playfulness of Faust and Syd Barrett and the tropical melodies of Os Mutantes. Existential word play and fuzz fused guitar lines tear through like an angry bee in a CAN on 'CYRK'. Currently on tour w/ St. Vincent.

This Brooklyn noise punk outfit has dramatically altered their wall of sound on their fourth album. It focuses on open spaces, longer movements, expansive arrangements, and loftier goals. Though they've maintained their love affair with glitchy oscillations and anthemic vocals, they're now a mature art-rock quartet. This is a heady mix of psych, noise, and pop influenced by the arty minimalism of Wire, the surreal pop of early Eno, and the spaced out psychedelia of "Dark Side"-era Pink Floyd. Reached Number One In The UK And The Us

The Wall is the eleventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is the last studio album released with the classic lineup of guitarist David Gilmour, bassist/lyricist Roger Waters, keyboardist Richard Wright and drummer Nick Mason before Wright left the band. Released as a double album on 30 November 1979, it was supported by a tour with elaborate theatrical effects, and adapted into a 1982 feature film, Pink Floyd - The Wall. The album features the band's only number one single; Another Brick in the Wall Part 2.

As with Pink Floyd's previous three albums, The Wall is a concept album and explores themes of abandonment and personal isolation. The album is a rock opera that follows Pink, a character whom Waters modelled after himself and the band's original leader, Syd Barrett. Pink's life begins with the loss of his father during the Second World War and continues with abuse from his schoolteachers, an overprotective mother, and the breakdown of his marriage; all contribute to his eventual self-imposed isolation from society, represented by a metaphorical wall. Waters conceived the album during Pink Floyd's 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when his frustration with the audience became so acute that he imagined a wall between the audience and the stage.

The Wall features a harsher and more theatrical style than Pink Floyd's previous albums. Wright left the band during its production but remained as a salaried musician, performing with Pink Floyd during the Wall tour. The album was one of the best selling of 1980, and by 1999 it had sold over 23 million RIAA-certified units (11.5 million albums), making it the third highest certified album in the United States. Rolling Stone placed The Wall at number 87 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

    Rattle That Lock

Rattle That Lock is the new solo album by David Gilmour, the voice and guitar of Pink Floyd. This is David's fourth solo album, and the first since 2006's # 1 album On An Island. The primary lyricist for Rattle That Lock is Gilmour's long-term writing partner, Polly Samson, and the album is co-produced by David Gilmour and Roxy Music s Phil Manzanera. The album's striking cover has been art directed by Dave Stansbie.

The lead single of this album is the title track, Rattle That Lock. The song begins with the four notes, created by Michael Boumendil, which precede announcements at French SNCF railway stations which Gilmour recorded on his iphone at Aix station. Samson's lyrics are inspired by Book 2 of John Milton's Paradise Lost, which is also featured in her recent acclaimed novel, The Kindness. The single also features the Liberty Choir and singers Mica Paris and Louise Marshall.

    On An Island

On An Island is the third David Gilmour solo album and his first studio recording since Pink Floyd's 1994 multi-platinum 'The Division Bell'. From the first moments of the sound collage that begins 'On An Island', you know it's a special experience that not only bears comparison with the best of Pink Floyd, but also confirms their lead guitarist and singer as an outstanding solo artist. Here he reveals a personal vision and a breadth of styles - folk, jazz, orchestral and rock - brought together as a unified piece by his lyrical guitar playing and instantly recognisable voice.

On An Island is a collection of songs and instrumentals that had its genus in the critically acclaimed 2002 London Festival Hall concerts. Gilmour has stepped out of his super-group to discover he's still at his peak - and he's rightly pleased. 'It's my best and most personal work,' he says. 'Making it with my musician friends has been a positive experience on so many levels.' - EMI. 2006.

Album Produced By David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth, Andy Jackson

The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions, when David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason played freely together at Britannia Row and Astoria studios. This was the first time they had done so since the 'Wish You Were Here' sessions in the seventies. Those sessions resulted in The Division Bell, the band's last studio album.

In 2013 David Gilmour and Nick Mason revisited the music from those sessions and decided that the tracks should be made available as part of the Pink Floyd repertoire. It would be the last time the three of them would be heard together. The band have spent the last year recording and upgrading the music, using the advantages of modern studio technology to create The Endless River.

The Endless River is a tribute to Rick Wright, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. It is a mainly instrumental album with one song, 'Louder Than Words', (with new lyrics by Polly Samson), arranged across four sides and produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.

    David Gilmour said:
'''The Endless River' has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions. We listened to over 20 hours of the three of us playing together and selected the music we wanted to work on for the new album. Over the last year we've added new parts, re-recorded others and generally harnessed studio technology to make a 21st century Pink Floyd album. With Rick gone, and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire.''

    Nick Mason said:
'''The Endless River' is a tribute to Rick. I think this record is a good way of recognizing a lot of what he does and how his playing was at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. Listening back to the sessions, it really brought home to me what a special player he was.''

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Pink Floyd's debut album released in 1967, featuring the original line-up of Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason.

The title of Pink Floyd's debut album is taken from a chapter in Syd Barrett's favorite children's book, The Wind in the Willows, and the lyrical imagery of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is indeed full of colorful, childlike, distinctly British whimsy, albeit filtered through the perceptive lens of LSD. Barrett's catchy, melodic acid pop songs are balanced with longer, more experimental pieces showcasing the group's instrumental freak-outs, often using themes of space travel as metaphors for hallucinogenic experiences -- Astronomy Domine is a poppier number in this vein, but tracks like Interstellar Overdrive are some of the earliest forays into what has been tagged space rock. But even though Barrett's lyrics and melodies are mostly playful and humorous, the band's music doesn't always bear out those sentiments -- in addition to Rick Wright's eerie organ work, dissonance, chromaticism, weird noises, and vocal sound effects are all employed at various instances, giving the impression of chaos and confusion lurking beneath the bright surface.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn successfully captures both sides of psychedelic experimentation -- the pleasures of expanding one's mind and perception, and an underlying threat of mental disorder and even lunacy; this duality makes Piper all the more compelling in light of Barrett's subsequent breakdown, and ranks it as one of the best psychedelic albums of all time.

    A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

A Momentary Lapse of Reason, Pink Floyd's thirteenth studio album, was originally released in the UK and US in September 1987. It followed guitarist David Gilmour's decision to include material recorded for his third solo album on a new Pink Floyd album with drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright. Although for legal reasons Wright could not be re-admitted to the band, Wright and Mason helped Gilmour craft what became the first Pink Floyd album since the December 1985 departure of bass guitarist, singer, and primary songwriter Roger Waters.

The Division Bell is Pink Floyd's fourteenth and final studio album. It was originally released in the UK by EMI Records on 28 March 1994, and the US by Columbia Records on 4 April.

The music was written mostly by David Gilmour and Richard Wright; lyrically, the album deals with themes of communication. Recording took place in several locations, including the band's Britannia Row Studios, and Gilmour's houseboat, Astoria. The production team included Pink Floyd stalwarts such as producer Bob Ezrin, engineer Andy Jackson and saxophonist Dick Parry. Gilmour's new wife, Polly Samson, co-wrote many of the album's lyrics, and Wright performed his first lead vocal on a Pink Floyd album since 1973's The Dark Side of the Moon.

    Wish You Were Here

Ranked 209/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

On its release in 1975 Wish You Were here topped the album charts in both the UK and the US. Reflecting the band's thoughts of the time on the music business, and exploring themes of absence, Wish You Were Here contains the classic cut Shine On You Crazy Diamond, a tribute to founder member Syd Barrett.

Since 1967 Pink Floyd have produced one of the most outstanding and enduring catalogues in the history of recorded music. The albums have been painstakingly remastered by James Guthrie (co-producer of The Wall). Artwork designed by long-time artwork collaborator Storm Thorgerson. As a part of their Why Pink Floyd? campaign, EMI has chosen to release three titles on collector's vinyl LP (throughout the year 2011 and into early 2012) including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall. Look for more details to come!

Drawing a parallel between Lia Ices and Pink Floyd is much easier than anticipated ? they share a love for space that is both palpable and patient. If you've been curious about a starting point with her, please start here. The A-side originally appeared on MOJO Magazine's tribute to Pink Floyd's mighty Wish You Were Here. Lia's take on the title track soars high and quickly nose dives back to Earth. The B-side takes a turn at Late Night, the closing track to Syd Barrett's solo debut The Madcap Laughs.

    Oar

Sundazed is ecstatic to be able to reissue Spence's cult classic with original track listing, liner notes and photos intact. Spence-a founding member of seminal San Fran skullbenders Moby Grape-cut his only solo work in Nashville immediately after being released from New York's Bellevue Hospital late in 1968. Unavailable on the collector's market these days at any price, Oar vanished without a trace when first released in 1969. Frequently compared to the likes of Syd Barrett and Nick Drake, Spence's visionary work walks the tightrope between reality and delusion and remains a national treasure.

    The Kudzu Ranch

Cowpunk, alt-country, Americana, whatever label you want to hang on them, Southern Culture On The Skids have been bringing a visceral, garage-rock punch to American roots music since the '80s. The Kudzu Ranch is dominated by original material, though the band does tackle Neil Young's Are You For the Country and Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett-era Lucifer Sam.
