    Adventures In Your Own Backyard

Adventures In Your Own Backyard was made at home after a grueling five-year run that saw Patrick and his band tour the world in support of two critically-acclaimed and successful albums, including the Polaris award-winning Close To Paradise. During this time, Patrick also contributed to Ma Fleur, the 2007 album from The Cinematic Orchestra, co-writing and singing on a sizeable portion of the record. In Patrick's own words, Adventures... is an effort on the band's part to make the kind of music we would want to listen to at home. The album's title is an obvious nod to this.

    Love Songs For Robots

Now approaching a decade as a band, it has been a truly interesting journey for Patrick Watson and
his cohorts. Having accomplished such feats as playing to over 100,000 people at the 2009 Montreal
Jazz Festival, composing 15 scores for film and television, receiving Canada's elite Polaris Music
Prize in 2007, and most recently performing two songs in Wim Wenders' current 3D epic "Every Thing
Will Be Fine", his career has had many peaks, with more to come with the release of his forthcoming
    album, Love Songs For Robots.

Still standing proudly at the helm, Love Songs For Robots marks Patrick Watson's fifth release since he
first galvanized this "temporary project" in 2006. His latest installment in his already impressive body
of work follows up on his stunning 2012 release Adventures In Your Own Backyard.
The new album was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Pierre Marchand Studio in Montreal.
His hard-fought lyrical pearls are now guided through newfound psychedelic and soul swagger
influences, as left of center instrumentation and arrangements cover up well-beaten tracks, and
makes this a rewarding and truly original statement.

Love Songs for Robots bears Watson's indelible stamp, and manages to create a piece of work that
is not only stirring, daring, and deeply personal, but also represents his creative high water mark. It's
all too rare to see an artist wear their heart on their sleeve while never growing weary of the battle
against cynicism and callousness, but Watson and band's aim remains true.

    Wooden Arms (Deluxe)

Whether it's the bicycle-city sound of "Beijing", or the warmth of "a hole in the wall" in "sweet New Orleans" on "Big Bird in a Small Cage", or the haunting waltz of the title track, you can't help but feel in listening to Wooden Arms like you're on the road with the band. La Lechuza

Includes CD + Limited Edition Poster

Co-founded ten years ago by percussionist Bruce Cawdron (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) and cellist Rebecca Foon (Thee Silver Mt. Zion), Esmerine enters its second decade with the new album, La Lechuza and an expanded line-up which includes harp-player Sarah Page and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Barr.

La Lechuza documents the evolution of Esmerine under the influence of this expanded membership, and is dedicated to beloved and internationally-renowned Montreal-based singer Lhasa de Sela, who died on New Year's Day 2010 at the age of 37. The album includes the posthumous track Fish On Land, an alternate version of the song that she recorded with Emserine and on which she sings.

While primarily tracked in Patrick Watson's loft in Montreal, La Lechuza was mixed by Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, The Unicorns, Islands) with the exception of three tracks. La Lechuza also features guest appearances by Sarah Neufeld (Arcade Fire) and Colin Stetson.

New Project Led By Montreal Cellist Rebecca Foon

(ESMERINE, SILVER MT ZION, SET FIRE TO FLAMES)

    • Features Jamie Thompson (UNICORNS) and Guest Players from LITTLE SCREAM, PATRICK WATSON BAND
    and BELL ORCHESTRE

    • Recorded and Mixed by Grammy-Winning Engineer
    Mark Lawson (ARCADE FIRE)

Saltland is the new project led by Montreal-based cellist Rebecca Foon, best
known as a founding member of contemporary chamber group Esmerine and a former
member of Thee Silver Mt. Zion and Set Fire To Flames. Foon began composing solo
work in 2010, featuring multi-layered cello and hushed vocals at the intersection of
drone, no-wave, improv, dream-pop and minimalism. Joined by Jamie Thompson
(Unicorns, Esmerine) on miniature percussion, programming and signal processing,
Foon's live performances in Montreal and abroad over the past two years have seen
her sound progress towards gently rhythmic and electronic territory as well. She has
transfixed audiences with this new music while sharing the stage with Mary Margaret
O'Hara, Julia Kent, Nat Baldwin and Sam Amidon, among others. As her largely homerecorded debut album began taking shape throughout 2011, with numerous guests
contributing to various pieces, Foon adopted the Saltland moniker for this work.

I Thought It Was Us But It Was All Of Us is a beautifully restrained debut
album that telescopes the directness and economy of Foon's compositional and vocal
styles into lush, twilight atmospheres aglow with luminescent tendrils and flickering
particles. Foon sings of childhood innocence lost, of tender utopic reveries and
downcast dystopic horizons, and the search for soft, stoic strength in a darkening,
devolving world. Foon's voice is discreet but defined, drifting on buoyant currents of
sound sourced from her plucked and bowed cello lines, in most cases propelled by
Thompson's bespoke percussion and understated programming/processing, with
touches of guitar, bass, horns, woodwinds, strings and backing vocals added by a cast
of supporting players. The record unfurls like a gauzy flag in a restless breeze at dusk:
a delicate, resolute sentinel set against the fading light.

The album's ambience also owes much to the work of Mark Lawson, the awardwinning engineer (Arcade Fire) who collaborated closely with Foon to record and mix
these songs at Six Saint V, her apartment studio in Montreal. Lawson, along with
friend and percussionist Thompson, helped to forge a balance between lo-fi intimacy
and shimmering breadth with these recordings, remaining faithful to the all-anologue
instrumentation of the source material while judiciously deploying signal processing
strategies to subtly refract, saturate and expand the sonic landscape. With
contributions from Laurel Sprengelmeyer and Jess Robertson (Little Scream), Mishka
Stein (Patrick Watson), Colin Stetson (Bon Iver), Sarah Neufeld and Richard Reed Parry
(Arcade Fire) among others, Saltland offers up an unassumingly immersive debut
album of searching songs that blend several core influences into a distinctively
naturalistic sound. Saltland stakes out an unaffected, meditative, clear-eyed and
earnest space where minimalism, dream-pop, drone, shoegaze, confessional folk,
modern chamber and ambient/electronic coexist and coalesce.

    In The Wilderness

Stranger Cat is the new project from Cat Martino, Sufjan Stevens' right hand woman for
the Age of Adz tour and record, as well as All Delighted People. Cat was also a recording
and touring member of Sharon Van Etten's band circa Epic. She appeared with The Shins
on SNL and Williamsburg Park, played in Passion Pit at Governor's Ball, and sings on the
Son Lux record Lanterns. She has had the pleasure to support Indians, Night Beds, Rufus
Wainwright, Marissa Nadler, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Patrick Watson.

Cat retreated from Brooklyn, NY to winter in the Sierra Foothills to write and record
songs emerging from loops using her voice, synths, and percussion. With her pedal chain
and gear in a small cottage she explored the gamut from ethereal to turbulence. Simple
melodies or beats became powerful walls of sound melting through snowstorms, howling
winds and stark silence nestled inside gargantuan oaks and the infinite starry dome.
Joined by Sven Britt for a week, each of them traded making beats, or melodic parts on
casios, synths, guitars, branches and spoons, while the other recorded. Often a cat would
come to the door to listen, meowing to be let in. When it appeared daily they called it
Stranger Cat, and observed its alien supernatural powers, as she'd heard tell of the
Foothills' long history of UFO sightings and ghost haunts. One day they let Stranger Cat
in. The plump feline ate all the kitty food and left.

Out of this adventure was born In The Wilderness, the duo's debut full-length out on Joyful Noise Recordings
