Other LifeSean Nicholas Savage is driven by the magic of the voice. A fixture of the Montreal music scene, Savage uses his instrument to express both the strength and fragility of the human experience. The Other Side Of Life
Celebrate 3 Decades of The Moody Blues' Wildest Dreams!
First Time 180 Gram Vinyl & Gatefold Presentation
Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (The Moody Blues)
Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Threshold Records Tapes
In 1986, The Moody Blues' "The Other Side of Life" album and their top charting hit single "Your Wildest Dreams," truly made this one of the most important chapters in their stellar career. Not only did millions of fans support this incredible masterwork, but it also received accolades from the young fans of MTV, which garnered the legends a Billboard Video of the Year award for the smash hit song. "The Other Side Of Life" Lp features nine stunning performances from the talents of Justin Hayward (guitar/vocals), John Lodge (bass/vocals), Patrick Moraz (keyboards & formerly of Yes), Ray Thomas (flutes/vocals) and Graeme Edges (drums/vocals).
The top ten album achieved platinum status, with even more smashes like "Rock and Roll Over You" and the brilliant "The Other Side Of Life", which takes the listener back to their "Days Of Future Passed" into the modern era of "Long Distance Voyager."
Power ballads were always Justin Hayward's specialty as "I Just Don't Care Anymore" chalks up another home run, along with the hard rockin' "Running Out Of Love" both of which made this one of The Moodies most popular albums.
Friday Music is honored to announce the 30th Anniversary Limited Edition of The Moody Blues masterpiece "The Other Side Of Life." Mastered impeccably by long time friend and fan Joe Reagoso, this superlative first time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Lp is also featured in a first time gatefold cover presentation for a very limited time.

LifeBy late 1968, the third album by Sly & the Family Stone absolutely blew the roof off the building. Life sounded so tangibly real it almost seemed like it was cut live. The title track, along with Love City, Plastic Jim, Into My Own Thing and especially Dynamite! signaled a perfect alliance between Sly's multi-influence, far-reaching musical vision and the burgeoning hippie ballroom community, already spreading like lawn daisies throughout the land. Never before had juicily syncopated beats dovetailed so perfectly with distortion-laced rock guitar. You don't have to die before you live, sings Sly on Life and he's not kidding! The lyrical content of Sly's music becomes even more graphic with detailed workouts like Jane Is A Groupee, a riveting description of this fascinating rock 'n' roll sub-culture. Then, on the other hand, you have the full-bore party numbers like M'Lady and Fun, songs fully capable of launching anybody's weekend with reckless abandon!1. Dynamite!

Other DeathThis fall sees the release of Sean Nicholas Savage's latest record, Other Death. Savage, a master of tenderness, reflection and projection, has released and toured relentlessly in pursuit of the rarer beauties found only in the nuance of pop song and performance. Other Death was recorded in Santa Monica, Los Angeles as a collaboration with Agor, of Savage's Arbutus labelmates Blue Hawaii, while Errhead of Doldrums plays on much of the record. Ramona Gonzalez Nite Jewel also makes an appearance, as do TOPS' Jane Penny and David Carriere. This is Savage's highest fidelity recording to date, with daring, captivating, and as always minimal and soft production style. In contrast to his usual introspection, Other Death is immediately more upbeat, uptempo, confident, inspired and delivers more consistent pop singles than any of his previous records. Savage is not playing to the middle. Here he gives his listeners, those who crave a harder SNS smack, the energy they crave. This is the release fans will turn to when they want to feel the sophisticated, delicate, and enchanted music of Sean Nicholas Savage at its most brave, free and loud. It's as if upon being tossed a copy of Other Life, Savage reads the message; Other Life? and throws it back at us in blood red, Other Death.1. Death

Any Other Way (Pre-Order)Known by genre aficionados as one of the
greatest singers and most riveting stage
presences in soul music, Jackie Shane has
remained largely unknown outside Toronto,
where her career briefly flowered in the
1960s. Beyond her unmistakable gift of the
gab, Shane is a pioneer of transgender rights,
born in a male body but unabashedly living
her entire life as a woman at a time when to
do so seemed unthinkable.
Any Other Way
is the first artist-approved collection of
Ms. Shane's work, collecting all six of her
45s and every highlight from the legendary
1967 live sessions at the Sapphire Tavern,
including three mind blowing, previouslyunreleased
tracks. Rob Bowman's 20,000
word essay is Jackie's first communication
with the public in nearly half a century,
telling for the first time ever Jackie Shane's
story in her own words.

Life DollarsBig Search is the ever-present alter ego of Matt Popieluch as he continues to make his way through Californian life, channeling the cross-currents of romance, upheaval, and casual adventure.
After over a decade of making music in various bands like Foreign Born and The Cave-Ins, and assisting in bands Papercuts, Fools Gold, Glasser, Cass McCombs, Taken By Trees and Sky Ferreira, Big Search has been steadily uncovering the music being revealed to him in flow-states. After two albums and a number of singles, Please Do Not Explain was included on the first compilation from Danger Mouse's new imprint 30th Century Records and the label will now be releasing the full album Life Dollars.

Still LifeDawn Golden is the work of Los Angeles-based producer Dexter Tortoriello. He gained exposure in 2010 when his other (much more serene) project, Houses began getting wide spread attention. Dawn Golden is it's opposite. Influenced by everything from doom metal bands like Neurosis to avant noise artists such as Xiu Xiu, the songs pound with a calm, but dire urgency. The project began in Tortoriello's bedroom as an experiment in different recording techniques, and quickly escalated as vocals were added and ideas rounded out. Dawn Golden released his first EP, Blow, in April 2011. The effort, which featured standouts like "Blacks" and "White Sun," received critical acclaim from NPR and Pitchfork. Post-Blow, Tortoriello started recording albums for both Dawn Golden and Houses, releasing Houses' A Quiet Darkness in May 2013. During this period, he continued working on the songs for what would become Dawn Golden's debut LP, Still Life. The album was recorded over the last three years at the Mad Decent studios in Los Angeles.
Still Life is built around stream-of-conscious craft that explores the doleful voids of addiction, love, and death. Led by its first single "All I Want," Still Life gains its stark emotional perspective through some of the most unique production you're likely to hear this year. There's heavy exploration of sonic texture, and Tortoriello uses frozen cut-ups and creative vocal editing to flip a traditionally-futuristic sound into something that oozes feeling.1. Discoloration

Adore LifeIt's about change and the power to change. It's about
metamorphosis and evolution. It's about sticking to
your guns and toughing it out. It's about now, not
tomorrow. It's about recognizing your potential. It's
about self-doubt and inaction. It's about you. It's
about me. It's about you and me and the others.
It's about the choices we make. It's about finding
the poetry and avoiding the clichÉ. It's about being
the solution, not the problem. It's about showing
weakness to be strong. It's about digging through
your dirt to look for diamonds. It's about claiming
your right to think unacceptable thoughts. It's about
boredom and the things we do to drive it away. It's
about being on your own so you can be with people.
It's about knowing what it means to be human and
what it might mean one day. It's about the parts and
the sum of the parts. It's about the music and the
message: together, one and the same. It's about bass,
guitars, drums and vocals. It's about opening-out and
never, ever dying. But most of all it's about love, every
kind of love. Love is the answer.

More Than Any Other Day
Debut Album From One Of Montreal's Most Talked-about Indie-Rock Bands.
Ought has been burning with a strong and steady flame since flickering to life in
Montreal in 2011. Holed up in a shared apartment that doubled as their rehearsal
space, the four band members self-recorded a first EP and played their first show
in these domestic confines, then busted out into the city's loft circuit, and into the
city streets during the Printemps d'Erable Quebec student general strike, in 2012.
These inspired months of mass mobilization against neo-liberal austerity
measures galvanized a wide range of agit-prop expression in Montreal, and
indelibly shaped the emerging sound, vision and social mandate of Ought.
Guitarist/vocalist Tim Beeler, who previously had been writing poetry and folk
music, drew new energy from electrification/amplification and solidarity/protest
alike; his declarative, observational vocal style ranges from wide-eyed to
worried, but never submits to cool irony or emotional detachment.
Ought's earnest, stately and exuberant post-punk is dextrous, deliberate, unfussy
and fluid, with debts to Cap'n Jazz, The Feelies, Lungfish, Gang Of Four and early
Talking Heads, among many others. The band shifts from sharp angles and stuttering
counterpoint to softer edges and chiming flow, with an economy of elements and
fidelity to their basic 4-piece constitution. The instrumental interplay is
consistently whipsmart, supple and deceptively simple. Beeler's speak-singing
can give way to melancholic melodic croons and ragged, desperate yelps, always
driven by sincerity of feeling and connection to his subject matter, whether that's
the conundrum of our fractured interiority or communion with others in our
fractured social space (or, for the most part, both).
Ought are a righteous and humble young band, fiercely dedicated to grassroots
organizing and artmaking, taking as self-evident the inseparability of politics
and aesthetics; we are proud and excited to be releasing their debut full-length.
More Than Any Other Day is the result of a week of recording and mixing at
Montreal's Hotel2Tango with engineer Radwan Moumneh (Suuns, Matana Roberts,
Jerusalem In My Heart) in November 2013; the album replaces the band's previously
self-released 5-song Bandcamp EP of the same name, which comprised a separate
set of recordings. Thanks for listening.1. Pleasant Heart

Facts Of LifeWomack is one of the most prolific and influential acts in R&B and rock. With songs like I Can Understand It, Harry Hippie, and Woman Got to Have It, Womack often displayed a depth, candor, and an expert turn of phrase that helped him outpace his contemporaries. Facts of Life is the follow-up to the 1972 classic Communication. This album is even better. Womack is known for his often uncomfortably real takes on love, life, and relationships, and Facts of Life expertly deals with a myriad of subjects. The only released single is his revamped take of the standard Nobody Wants You When You're Down and Out. The song has been done ad infinitum, but Womack put a nasty edge on it that made it sound like a song he wrote himself. I'm Through Trying to Prove My Love to You is punctuated by his great guitar riffing and plaintive vocal and lyrical gems like, See when you take my heart/ I can't let you take my soul. He'll Be There When the Sun Goes Down benefits from more witticisms and a strong string arrangement from Womack and Rene Hall. Perhaps the most surprising thing about Facts of Life is that Womack is so adept at taking others' material and making it his own. Natural Man, a cover of You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, is the biggest shock here. Where Aretha Franklin's version had her skillfully shouting from the rooftops, Womack brings tenderness to the lyric and is believable. Produced by Womack and recorded in Muscle Shoals with its renowned players, Facts of Life is an album of undeniable craft.

African High LifeThis is a very enjoyable if not essential album of traditional African highlife music set to dance tempos. Fans of Count Ossie (or other Pan-African musics that predate an outright American R&B influence) should know what to expect here. In other words, it doesn't sound as modern as Fela Kuti, so it won't supply the kinds of grooves expected on most dancefloors. Death After LifeDeath After Life, Thug Entrancer's debut for Software Recording Co. is
a deliberately realized collection of dance experimentation and hybridized
electronic music with narrow stylistic precedents. It's also a gripping, somber
tide formed from the gravitational pull of an artist's amble through unknown
Ryan McRyhew's footing as a creative lynchpin in the Denver DIY
electronic music scene shued to the other world and beat of the South side
of Chicago in 2011. McRyhew's new home allowed him secluded time and
space to create in-depth and unconditional music as Thug Entrancer. The
move also provided McRyhew direct access to Chicago's dance music history
and the groundbreaking works being crafted in bedrooms and blasted on
speakers throughout his neighborhood.
A summation of varied approaches to electronic music, Thug Entrancer's
multiverse is not dissimilar to other Software artists (Slava and Huerco S.,
for example). McRyhew draws inuence from pioneering electronic and
experimental composers who placed an emphasis on extended development
and technique, alongside early analog dance producers who went all-out and
all-in with little more than a TR-808 in their arsenal.
Death After Life is comprised of eight chapters drawn from the album title,
each numbered I through VIII. These portions underscore a pitch-dark
motif thread throughout the album's fty minutes. Death After Life I is
whittled and icy - long echoed claps and panned sawtooth shapes swelter
around the skittering percussive elements over the four-and-half-minutes of
unsettled, environmental shifting.
Death After Life III delivers rapid-re, straight up acid with a snare heavy rhythm registering in an upper BPM range before fraying into the
sonic beyond. Death After Life V frenetically lashes out with hi-hat
triplets, lower mix perimeter synths and pounding claps / snare at a
breakneck footwork pace.
The album's nal cut is the most up-front Juke number. Altogether shorn of
the more abstract spaces heard earlier, "Death After Life VIII" attacks with
the feel of a live, improvised performance. In fact, the majority of the tracks
on Death A!er Life were composed on the y with very few overdubs and
zero reliance on sampled sources.
While Death After Life reframes elements of Chicago Juke and house in
long-form design, the end result one in which a subtler horizon is discovered,
trumping more palatable musical codes and dissuading us from treating
electronic music, or any genre-stamped style matter, with rote attention.1. Death After Life - I

A beautifully recorded session of top quality blues performed by masters of their art. On paper it may look like a slightly odd coupling of KC shouter with a Chicago blues band. The results confirm that Jimmy Witherspoon is a blues singer full of passion and throughout this session all the musicians compliment each other admirably. A beautiful slab of music.

About Pure Pleasure
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. Night Life

Into The Wild LifeA special message from LZZY HALE (OFFICIAL) about INTO THE WILD LIFE:
This album is not a departure, it is an invitation to all things Halestorm. We didn't stray from who we are, there's just a lot more of who we are. If you dare, start with the outer most layer of the onion, our first single Apocalyptic which is the medium between where we left off on The Strange Case Of.. and where Into The Wild Life begins.
Lyrically and musically, we explored everything that makes us tick. We set a standard for this record, and gave ourselves no choice other than to be unapologetically Halestorm in every way. In a time where everyone is freaked out about the state of music, rock n' roll, hit singles, sales....we decided to ignore all of that and make a true album.
My insider's advice: Close your eyes and listen to the album from start to finish. There are some surprises that await you inside that are well worth the journey. Enjoy!
Formed by frontwoman Lzzy Hale and her brother, drummer Arejay Hale, Halestorm has been hailed far and wide as an incendiary new force in modern hard rock. HALESTORM made a top 5 debut on SoundScan's Hard Music chart upon its 2009 release, simultaneously bursting into the top 40 on the comprehensive Billboard 200. The album subsequently sold more than 300,000 copies, and half a million cumulative tracks. Produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf), the album earned extensive acclaim for its infectious hard rock anthems, sexy hooks, and rough-and-tumble grooves.1. Scream

Make Yr LifeThe Butchies are three cool women from Durham, NC who make fine power pop. Having already released three full length records, Are We Not Femme (1998), Population 1975 (1999) and 3 (2001), the band, Kaia Wilson (ex-Team Dreasch), Melissa York and Alison Martlew, are ready to take you over. And they will do so in the form of record number four - an impressive punk/pop masterwork entitled Make Yr Life. The record boasts ten totally inspired tracks kicking off with a bona-fide single, Send Me You, featuring a chorus that you won't soon forget. Other standouts include the urgent title track, the classic indie-rocker She's So Lovely and the haunting slow-down of Everything & Everywhere. Accentuated by undeniably electric, not-to-be-missed live shows honed over much time spent on the road and a great new long player, The Butchies are a force to be reckoned with.Send Me You

Life Is GoodThe social and political awareness that drives Flogging Molly's music is never more prominent than in their upcoming new release LIFE IS GOOD - a strikingly powerful album and it arrives at a strikingly key time. The sixth studio album by the renowned Celtic-punk rockers now in their 20th year is mature, well crafted, equally polished and almost aggressively topical. It is filled with rousing songs that are timeless in their sentiment, but directly related to today's most pressing concerns: Politics, the economy, unemployment, planned boomtowns gone bust, immigration policies gone awry, and much more.
For singer and lyricist Dave King, it may be the lyrical couplet contained within the surging "Reptiles (We Woke Up") that points toward the album's central theme. "We woke up," sings King, "And we won't fall back asleep."
"The thing is, there are things changing," says King. "That's why I wrote that line, 'Like reptiles, we'll all soon be dust someday.' It's quite scary, especially for somebody who has children these days--bringing up family in this environment of who's welcome and who's not welcome. I'm talking about the cultures in America and the UK--especially American immigration.
Life Is Good thus serves as a wake-up call to those who have simply stood by while far-reaching political decisions were made that had a serious impact on them. And, significantly, it also serves as notice that the time for action is now.
And people are indeed taking action, adds King, which is a crucial point.
"I think especially with things like government--I think we all tend to fall asleep a little bit when it comes to other people that are making decisions for you. I think we should be the ones influencing the government to make these decisions. It's a great thing that we're now taking to the streets again. And it's a positive thing."
Imagery abounds on Life Is Good, and one of the most memorable images might be found in "Adamstown," the saga of a planned community west of Dublin that came to a halt in mid-construction a decade ago when the Irish economy crashed--and left little more than a ghost town in its place.
"It had a huge negative connotation to it," King says of the eerie, unfinished settlement. "But now it's starting to turn again, people are starting to move there, businesses are starting to open, and there is hope."
Thematically, hope and inspiration are a major part of "The Hand of John L. Sullivan," a rollicking track about the legendary "Boston Strong Boy" who was the first ever heavyweight champion of gloved boxing from 1882-1892. Sullivan was a hero to many, and his story has a cultural significance that fits squarely within the story Flogging Molly want to tell with Life Is Good.
"He came from an immigrant family to Boston, and they brought their family over to try to make the best possible world for them," says King. "We live in an environment right now where that doesn't seem to be what should be allowed to happen, you know?
Recorded in Ireland and produced by multiple Grammy Award-winner Joe Chiccarelli (U2, the White Stripes, Beck), Life Is Good is by any measure a formidable return from Flogging Molly, an assessment with which Dave King fully agrees.
"It's been a tough few years for a lot of us in the band. Dennis (Casey, guitarist) lost his dad, I lost my mother, and there have been certain issues, pertaining to sentiment, in a lot of the songs. But we just try to do the best we can. We've always had fun getting together and coming up with the new songs, and it's still that way.
Here we see what's uniquely distinctive about Life is Good, as the gravity and weight of these themes never overshadow the sheer fun and exuberance felt in each song. For the message is delivered and built on the backs of boisterous and barreling live touring.
"We're known for our live shows," says Dave King. Writing albums has always been a vehicle for us -- it's been a means to get people onto the dance floor. And that's kind of the way we've always approached it, no matter what."
"The one thing we are is a positive band," adds Dave King. "When people come and see our shows, it's a celebration--of life, of the good and of the bad. And we have to take the good and the bad for it to be a life."1. There's Nothing Left Pt. 1
