    Made To Love Magic

    Reissue

The rarities collection, Made to Love Magic, contains demos captured in 1968 (when Drake was studying at Cambridge University) as well as solo-acoustic sketches of later songs - and a newly discovered piece, Tow the Line, which Drake scholars believe is one of the last things he committed to tape. The song, recorded in 1974, was found, unlabeled, at the end of a master tape when original engineer John Wood was mixing this album.

Tow the Line, which lasts 2:16, is classic Drake, as simple as Pink Moon or any of his later works but almost more compelling because of its assertive, driving rhythm. Drake was an unerringly precise guitarist, and Tow the Line is an excellent showcase for his devices: He outlines the verses using a tapestry of delicate, yet tense, descending chords, and then chops out blunt, almost growly blues references on the refrain.

There are other delights on Magic, among them a solo treatment of River Man (from Five Leaves Left) without the string orchestra; the somber, anguishing love ode Clothes of Sand; and a relaxed journey through Rider on the Wheel. Far more interesting than typical demos, laced with the shadowy moods some artists spend years chasing in studios, these casual performances suggest that there was never anything casual about Drake's art: Even when he was just jotting down some idea, he couldn't help infecting it with that strange, mournful magic.

Sourced From the Original Master Tapes!

    Pressed on 180 gram vinyl

    Cut at Abbey Road Studios

A two-volume set tying up loose ends, single releases and B-sides. But frankly, when your loose ends include 'Hey Jude', then it still probably qualifies as essential listening. There's a bit of filler here (nobody but a Germanic completist needs to hear 'Sie Liebt Dich') but there are a lot of absolute classics, especially on disc 2, which includes the barrelhouse 'Lady Madonna', the droning psychedelic 'Rain' (the whole of Oasis's career in one song) and Harrison's lovely 'Old Brown Shoe'. It ends with their final B-side, 'You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)'.

A team consisting of some of the best producers and engineers in the recording industry were brought together and would spend 4 long years mixing and mastering with some of the most state of the art recording equipment. Treating these records much like a science experiment, engineers ran extensive tests before copying the analog master tapes over into a digital format using 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and carefully removing clicks, vocal pops and poor edits. Never altering the original songs themselves, just polishing them up a bit.

The Album Collection Volume 1 1973-1984 (On Sale)

First 7 Albums Recorded & Released For Columbia Records Between 1973 and 1984

Newly Remastered From Original Analogue Masters By Acclaimed Engineer Bob Ludwig

Recreations Of Original Packaging & Accompanied By A 60-Page Book

"Last Thursday, at the Harvard Square theatre, I saw my rock'n'roll past flash before my eyes. And I saw something else: I saw rock and roll future and its name is Bruce Springsteen. And on a night when I needed to feel young, he made me feel like I was hearing music for the very first time." --Jon Landau, The Real Paper, May 22, 1974

Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings will release Bruce Springsteen: The Album Collection Vol. 1 1973-1984, a boxed set comprised of remastered editions of the first seven albums recorded and released by Bruce Springsteen for Columbia Records between 1973 and 1984. All of the albums are newly remastered and all seven are making their remastered debut on vinyl.

The seven albums are recreations of their original packaging and the set is accompanied by a 60-page book featuring rarely-seen photos, memorabilia and original press clippings from Springsteen's first decade as a recording artist.

Acclaimed engineer Bob Ludwig, working with Springsteen and longtime engineer Toby Scott, has remastered these albums, all newly transferred from the original analogue masters using the Plangent Process playback system.

    This Year's Model

Ranked 98/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The first record he made with his legendary backing band the Attractions, This Years Model is Elvis Costellos most explosive and urgent album. Picking up where his fine My Aim Is True left off, the British singer/guitarist blasts through 13 excellent tracks with the fervent purpose and headlong pace of someone who has a cab waiting for him outside.

Stylistically versatile, deeply varied, and melodically catchy, this where Costello came into his ownand where the chemistry between virtuosic keyboardist Steve Nieve, bassist Bruce Thomas, and drummer Pete Thomas produced one of rocks best groups. A dynamic maelstrom of emotional spite, bitter frustration, sexual angst, and caustic political commentary, the 1978 set boosted Costellos star and yielded innumerable standards: the undying MOR protest Radio Radio, fervent Pump It Up, smart (I Dont Want to Go to) Chelsea, and spunky No Action are all here.

While often cited as Costellos angry record, This Years Model has more to do with disappointments and denials. The album bursts forth with a savage energy not possible without the Attractions, which are responsible for the songs being built from the ground up. Where Costellos voice and twangy guitar dominate My Aim Is True, here, sizzling rhythms and Nieves colorful organ runs anchor the foundations. This is a group effort, with Costellos biting lyrics taking chances and forcing the listener to mull double meanings all the while the music zooms by at a fast clip.

More than 30 years after its original release, This Years Model will still leave you breathless. Railing against unachievable desires, Costello and company delight in the anguish, and spit such torment back out in the form of hook-ridden music that functions as a brilliant form of situational confirmation and emotional catharsis.

Half-speed mastered from the original tapes, Mobile Fidelitys numbered limited-edition 180-gram LP brings This Years Models vicious songs to the forefront like never before. Punchier, gutsier, and livelier than any of the myriad CD remasters, this analog edition offers a transparent window onto the Attractions' loose interplay, Nieve's carnivalesque organ work, and rabid pounce of the Thomas-Thomas rhythm section. Here, for the first time, are previously buried tones, textures, and details. It took years to happen, but this is how This Years Model was always supposed to sound.

Acknowledged as the greatest of all exponents of soulful Reggae, Third World's 'Journey To Addis' raised the bar for Jamaican music in terms of the
sophistication of its arrangements. The collection chiefly comprises an array of classic Roots Reggae numbers, as typified by 'One Cold Vibe', 'Cool
Meditation' and the title track, while the internationally successful cover of the O'Jays' 'Now That We Found Love' is Jamaican disco at its very best. This
long overdue reissue faithfully reproduces the artwork of the original 1978 issue and with the record mastered from the original Island tapes and

The Piano Scene Of Ahamd Jamal (Speaker Corner)

The early recordings made by Ahmad Jamal for the Epic label have disappeared into the annals of jazz history. His trio with bass and drums, however, was certainly a whole lot more famous in clubs, at festivals and in TV shows in the Fifties. The present LP contains twelve numbers performed by a trio composed of a guitar and bass or drums - Ray Crawford, Eddie Calhoun, Walter Perkins only being known to a handful of jazz fans - and only a few compositions of his own, most titles are favourites from musicals of the day. Ahmad Jamal reveals the influence of Art Tatum and Nat King Cole in his performance, whereby his masterly art and independent style is already recognizable. The trios are quite unique in themselves, although the hierarchy is unchangeable: Ahmad Jamal is and remains the boss; he performs the majority of the solos.

A special highlight is surely the first version of Billy Boy. And not only Miles Davis praised the pianist for his technical prowess and wealth of ideas. Aki And Ukthay (Brother and Sister) also offers the possibility to admire Jamal's pianistic proficiency. What a good idea to bring out these early recordings once more for jazz lovers! Especially because the Epic label is truly underestimated in the record market. The recording quality is absolutely impeccable - a true listener's gem.

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Edgar Winter's White Trash (Speakers Corner)

Question: What is whiter than white? There's only one answer: Winter - Edgar Winter. While his equally pale-faced brother Johnny turned towards black music with a country-blues touch (Columbia KCS 9949 and CS 9826), Edgar was inspired by the traditional big-band sound. The brotherly link paid off, for it freed the talented Edgar from having to make strenuous appearances at night in clubs and gave him the chance to join his older brother in the recording studio.

After his successful debut release Entrance, Winter gathered an all-star band around him and entered the studio to record White Trash, which landed a smash hit on the US charts. And no wonder - for these soul rockers give everything in a unique mixture of funk, blues and rock 'n' roll. Right from the first number Give It Everything You Got, a broadly striding rock title with brass, the whole album is bursting with energy and a great atmosphere. Wiry blues with meaty vocals enough to make your hair curl (I've Got News For You) is followed by the demand - in meaty, snapped phrases - for cheerful rock 'n' roll (Keep Playin' That Rock And Roll). And let's not forget the sometimes madly intertwined solo parts, where the musicians really let off steam. A true celebration of rock 'n' roll.

Deodato 2 (Speakers Corner) (On Sale)

In his early years, Deodato, 'the gift of God', cultivated a highly original art of give and take in his music. His score for Stanley Kubrick's science fiction film A Space Odyssey 2001 - a funky, jazzed-up adaptation of Richard Strauss's bombastic orchestral work Also sprach Zarathustra - opened the ears of innumerable cinema-goers to classical music. On the present album Deodato again rocks and grooves with works from past eras: Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue is reworked rhythmically and enriched, while Ravel's Pavane unfolds hesitatingly over a velvety carpet of sound. And why not win new fans for major musical works? Deodato, the master, and his complex musical apparatus impart a true Latin feeling to these covered works.

The 'new' classic Nights In White Satin too, one of the most congenial gigantic hits from the 60s, is staged by Deodato as a miniature slow rock drama just as perfectly as he cultivates his own very pure funky style (Super Strut). In Deodato's arrangements, the powerful instrumental forces open out almost effortlessly and evolve into a gentle flow of sheer pleasure. Everything appears to be simple, although nothing is simple! And therein lies the uniqueness of 'the gift of God'.

    Musicians:

    • Eumir Deodato (keyboards)

    • Jon Faddis (trumpet, fluegel horn)

    • Wayne Andre (trombone)

    • Joe Temperley (bassoon)

    • Hubert Laws (flute)

The Third Face of Fame (Pure Pleasure)

Georgie Fame's swinging, surprisingly credible blend of jazz and American R&B earned him a substantial following in his native U.K., where he scored three number one singles during the '60s and a top ten hit with Bonnie & Clyde in the States. Fame played piano and organ in addition to singing, and was influenced by the likes of Mose Allison, Ray Charles, Booker T and the MG's and Louis Jordan. Early in his career, he also peppered his repertoire with Jamaican ska and bluebeat tunes, helping to popularize that genre in England; during his later years, he was one of the few jazz singers of any stripe to take an interest in the vanishing art of vocalese, and earned much general respect from jazz critics on both sides of the Atlantic.

This set finds him in a suaver, jazzier vein accompanied by a band made up of the cream of jazz musicians on the UK scene at the time. It was at this time, 1967 and 1968, that to much acclaim, he toured as featured vocalist with the Count Basie Orchestra throughout the UK & Europe.

Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Clearly Sam Cooke's most intimate, most soulful and ultimately most real recording. This one has the feel of a private performance captured after hours when the audience had gone home and the singer was singing purely for the love of his songs. The performance put forth is simply straight from Cooke's soul. His selection of songs include spiritual, bluesy ballads and gospel classics. Cooke owns these songs, making each interpretation all his own. This is warm music that's easy to connect with. Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound from the original three-track masters.

    Critically Acclaimed Album...12 Grammy Nominations!

Vocalese is second only to Michael Jackson's Thriller as the most nominated individual album. The album's title refers to a style of music that sets lyrics to previously recorded jazz instrumental pieces. The vocals then reproduce the sound and feel of the original instrumentation. Jon Hendricks, proficient in this art, composed all of the lyrics for this album.

Grammy Awards: Best Jazz Vocal Performance - Duo or Group, Best Vocal Arrangements For Voices for Cheryl Bentyne and Bobby McFerrin for their arrangement of Another Night In Tunisia.

Many of the Manhattan Transfer's recordings up to the point of Vocalese showed off their diversity and covered a wide variety of music, including jazz. This set was quite a bit different, for it is dedicated to the vocalese of the great Jon Hendricks. the Manhattan Transfer (singers Cheryl Bentyne, Tim Hauser, Alan Paul and Janis Siegel) perform a dozen songs using Hendricks' lyrics, including That's Killer Joe, Rambo, Ray's Rockhouse and Sing Joy Spring. Utilizing their regular band of the period (which includes guitarist Wayne Johnson), the Count Basie Orchestra (directed at the time by Thad Jones), the Four Freshmen (on To You), tenorman James Moody, Bobby McFerrin (guesting on Night in Tunisia), McCoy Tyner, Dizzy Gillespie (on Sing Joy Spring), altoist Richie Cole, and Hendricks himself, among many others, the Transfer give these boppish tunes definitive vocal treatments. This is one of their finest jazz recordings and a classic of its kind. - Scott Yanow, allmusic.com

    Head Games

Head Games on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity

Foreigner's 1979 Effort Its Edgiest, Heaviest, Hardest-Hitting Album

Band Pairs Synthesizers With Guitars on Record to Mesmerizing Effect

Head Games, Dirty White Boy Continue Group's Hit Streak

Half-Speed Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Roy Thomas Baker's Original Production Shines Like Never Before

The moment Head Games begins, a nastier, grittier tone is established, and it becomes apparent that Foreigner is bringing something new to the table. Namely, an edgier, leaner sound built around stronger guitars and harder rhythms. The heaviest record of the bands career, the 1979 effort functions as irrefutable proof that the quintet rocked as hard as anybody in the mainstream and did so without losing sight of the melodies that put it at the top of the charts. And with Head Games, there Foreigner would stay.

Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelitys collectible audiophile edition of this longtime favorite classic-rock staple bursts with tremendous dynamics, soaring vocal timbres, punchy dynamics, and newfound instrumental separation. With more emphasis placed on Mick Jones guitar riffs and meatier grooves, you may just find yourself investing in a new power amp to get every last degree of detail thats been uncovered! Longtime fans will be thrilled to hear the subtle nuances now fully discernible amidst a gargantuan soundstage.

Joined by new bassist Rick Wills, and guided by Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker, Foreigner goes for broke, ratcheting up the muscularity on hard-hitting fare such as the hit single Dirty White Boy, Seventeen, and the aptly titled Rev on the Red Line. However, the group maintains its trademark equilibrium, pushing the limits on toughness yet retaining a diamond-in-the-rough smoothness that allows the bands hummable choruses and winding hooks to take hold.

Moreover, the band expands its use of synthesizers to wonderful effect. The smash title track, through which mesmerizing keyboard passages coarse, is a prime example of Foreigners slight albeit thrilling sonic evolution, the net result upping the drama, fanfare, and color. At the time, the combination was a breakthrough idea. Is it any wonder Head Games sold more than 5 million copies?

None, however, sound anywhere near as lifelike, involving, and rich as Mobile Fidelitys remaster. Part of the reason why late 70s arena rock remains beloved, and why its so fun, owes to the go-for-broke nature of the arrangements, decibel-clearing volume levels, and free license to just let loose. By digging in and revealing all the musical information the master tapes provide, Mobile Fidelitys analog 180g LP amplifies the pleasure principle by tenfold!

    The White Album

Ranked 10/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

    Pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

    Double LP

Beautiful packaging that includes double-sided photo montage, lyric sheet and 4 solo color photos.

The Beatles is the ninth official album by the English rock group The Beatles, a double album released in 1968. It is also commonly known as The White Album as it has no graphics or text other than the band's name embossed on its plain white sleeve.

The album was written and recorded during a period of turmoil for the group, after visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India and having a particularly productive songwriting session in early 1968. Returning to the studio, the group recorded from May to October 1968, only to have conflict and dissent drive the group members apart. Ringo Starr quit the band for a brief time, leaving Paul McCartney to play drums on two tracks. Many of the songs were solo recordings, or at least by less than the full group, as each individual member began to explore his own talent.

Upon release in November 1968, the album received largely positive reviews and reached number 1 on the charts in the United Kingdom and the United States. The album is notable for the eclectic nature of its songs, which has divided critics in evaluating its legacy. The album has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and was listed at number 10 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.

Rod the Mod's Definitive Album: Timeless Feel-Good Set Contains Eternal Chart-Topper Maggie May, Introspective (Find A) Reason to Believe

Stewart's Band Includes His Faces Mates: Ron Wood, Ian McLagan Shine

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI (The Best Plant in America): LP Boasts Organic Warmth and Full-Range Extension

Rod Stewart owned the early 1970s. When he wasn't recording great sets with the Faces, he was redefining how folk, country, and soul music could be folded under rock's umbrella. Filled with first-rate originals and terrific interpretations of classics, Every Picture Tells A Story remains Stewart's watershed moment, a brilliant synthesis of organic warmth, earthy tones, raucous romance, and loose performances. Those who only know Stewart from his later evolution into a sappy balladeer will be overwhelmed.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed at RTI (the best record plant in America), MoFi Silver Labels' numbered limited edition LP presents the 1971 smash in the most transparent, warm, and full-range sound the music has ever enjoyed. Stewart's supremely soulful vocals come on with insouciant passion and joyous persuasion, the detail allowing listeners to hear into his lungs and feel every breath he draws. His equally superb band is presented amidst an expanded soundstage that's free of artificial ceilings and harshness introduced by several digital remastering editions. The explosive sound is akin to watching a fledgling group come into its own in a small club.

Kicking up the tempo and slightly increasing the edge from his previous solo effort, Stewart transforms blues, folk, country, and soul into a hard-rocking hybrid that maintains acoustic properties but isn't afraid to step out and report on what it's like to have a night out on the town. Anchored by Mick Waller's free-swinging percussion, every song triumphs, with Stewart's slightly hoarse and eminently emotive vocals communicating each word as if they're literally sewn as hearts on his sleeve. Ron Wood's slide guitar and gritty chords complement the singer's earnest conviction, and Ian McLagan's organ adds bittersweet accents. Nothing here is blue; Every Picture Tells A Story is a celebration.

Stewart combines American and British folk styles on the strolling Mandolin Wind, the touching song epitomizing the simple, direct approach that underpins the entire album. On the breathless title track, Stewart embraces his inner playboy, the tune's likable crude-and-rude swagger sent up on crackling rhythms and visceral harmonies. The British native handles Bob Dylan's Tomorrow Is A Long Time and the evergreen That's All Right as if he wrote them. The best aspect of Every Picture Tells A Story relates to how genuine and believable Stewart and his good-natured company sound throughout.

If you are a fan of rock, soul, folk, or the blues, you owe it to yourself to have a superb copy of this timeless record that shows off its translucent and organic tones, extraordinary vocal performances, and crack backing band. Mobile Fidelity's Silver Label numbered limited edition LP does just that. And it restores one of the most iconic album covers in history. As for that Classic Edition statement that's always hovered at the top of the record? Never truer than now.

    What's Going On (Half-Speed Master)

    Abbey Road Half-Speed Master

Pressed On 180 Gram Vinyl And Housed In A Hard Card Slipcase

Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, released on May 21st, 1971, is regarded by many as one of the best soul albums of all time. Recorded in several locations, including the famous Hitsville U.S.A. in Detroit and The Sound Factory in West Hollywood, it was also the first album to give a credit to Motown's legendary house band, the Funk Brothers.

The original album consisted of nine songs mainly focused on the suffering and injustice in the US in the late 1960s from the eyes of a US veteran who'd returned home after fighting in Vietnam. The 2xCD Deluxe Edition released in 2001 brought together the original LP, the Detroit Mix of the album (which was rejected at the time), plus a live recording from The Kennedy Center Washington from May 1st, 1972. The Kennedy Center date was Gaye's first live performance following the death of close friend and singing partner, Tammi Terrell.

Both versions of the album, the Kennedy Center recording, plus several other tracks - including mono versions of the singles taken from the LP - are all featured on this 4xLP deluxe vinyl edition of What's Going On.

About These Abbey Road Half-Speed Masters:

This limited edition range, all pressed on 180-gram vinyl, come in deluxe packaging. The initial releases are all iconic deluxe edition titles from great Universal artists - Amy Winehouse, The Who, James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Mike Oldfield.

The albums were cut from high-resolution digital transfers from the best-known analogue tapes by Abbey Road mastering engineer Miles Showell, one of the foremost practitioners of this artisan process in the world today. Only minimal sympathetic equalization was applied to the transfers to keep everything as pure as possible. Also, as these are vinyl-only releases, Miles did not apply any digital limiting. This is added to almost all digital releases to make them appear to be loud and is responsible for the so-called "loudness war" and in almost every case is anything but natural and pure sounding.

The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys

    40th Anniversary!

Mastered from the Original Island Records Tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray

Traffic was one of the premier architects of the acid rock movement in the '60s and blossomed further into one of the most important super groups of the '70s. Their recordings are the soundtrack to a generation of music enthusiasts that continues to this day and will forever stand the test of time.

In 1972, the legendary founding members Stevie Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood sojourned on after a smash outing with John Barleycorn Must Die and continued the winning streak with the groundbreaking classic The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys. Along with new members Jim Gordon (Derek & The Dominoes), Rick Gretch (Blind Faith) and Rebop Kwaku Baah, Traffic was back and on a roll artistically unlike many other important acts of the classic rock era.

Known for more than its amazingly cube shaped album cover, the multi-faceted music inside was a non-stop enjoyment of sounds never heard or recorded since. Whether standout tracks from the pens of Jim Capaldi like the hard rocking Light Up Or Leave Me Alone or the powerful balladry of ancient sounds with the Winwood/Capaldi classic Rainmaker, this brilliant album will most certainly be known forever for its classic title track, the massive twelve minute plus epic, The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys. Filled with explosive sax breaks by the late Chris Wood, the piano driven and vocal delivery of master musician legend Stevie Winwood and the percussive vibrations of the late great Jim Capaldi, Jim Gordon and the late Rebop Kwaku Baah, the song was destined to become a huge success.

Friday Music presents the Traffic/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series as we begin with our first installment with their monumental classic of the ages The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys. Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso from the original Island Records tapes at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray, The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys is a truly one of the most important audiophile vinyl releases of this year. To make this an even more enjoyable limited edition happening, for a very short time, we are also going back to the original Tony Wright designed cube shaped die-cut album cover, for the first time in North America since its 1972 release!

1986 was a big year for a huge blockbuster movie called
Stand By Me. The Rob Reiner classic truly made way for the
hit soundtrack companion LP, which sailed to the top of both
the sales and airplay charts with the classic re-charting hit
title track Stand By Me by the late great Ben E. King.

The classic movie featured some of the biggest songs
honoring the birth of rock and roll including Buddy Holly's
worldwide smash hit single Everyday as well as The Silhouettes smash #1 Get a Job and
The Coasters' rock champion Yakety Yak.

As with our continuing expansion into the original movie soundtrack genres, Friday
Music is very proud to announce the first time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl release of

Anarchy/Brian Wilson) from the Atlantic Records tapes and includes the original LP sized

4 on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity

#1 1981 Album Teems With Hits: Urgent, Waiting for a Girl Like You, Juke Box Hero

Foreigner's Most Consistent, Economical, and Cleanly Produced Record

Half-Speed Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Sonics Open Window to Mutt Lange's Direct Production

Be A Juke Box Hero: Sound Will Rattle Your Walls and Shake Your Windows!

Want to be a juke box hero? Heres your chance. Featuring Mutt Langes spotless production, contributions from Motown legend Junior Walker and new-wave icon Thomas Dolby, no less than three huge singles, and Foreigners most economical performances, 4 is classic-rock nirvana, a model of crystalline pop-rock melodies and lighter-flicking balladry. More than six million copies later, the 1981 record is still rightly discussed as a front-to-back masterpiece of precision, power, and economy. Its an album that demands to be experienced in the highest-possible fidelity.

Half-speed mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelitys 180g LP presents 4 in a room-filling, stadium-big sound that simply crushes whats heard on all prior versions. Replete with energetic rockers such as Urgent, Night Life, and Woman In Black, the record benefits from a sonic facelift that opens up the previously compressed dynamics, expands the dimensions of the soundstage, dials in a clear path to the instrumental images, and erases the ceiling that pressed down on Lou Gramms superhuman vocals. For the first time, Langes obsessive, detail-oriented production can be enjoyed in all its splendid glory.

Fresh off blockbuster success with AC/DCs Back In Black, Lange uses his magic touch on 4, pairing with guitarist Mick Jones who, armed with the best batch of riffs of his career, shared a the producers sentiment for discipline, efficiency, and cleanliness. And so, on crisp tunes like Break It Up, pianos and hard-hitting guitars share the same space without ever impinging on one another or overstepping boundaries. The winning formula also propels Top 5 hits like the wildly funky Urgent, sent to new heights by Walkers dazzling saxophone solo, and the touching Waiting for a Girl Like You, a crossover smash that introduced Foreigner to soft-rock and adult-pop audiences.

Simply stated, 4 has everything: Rowdy frustration-releasing cuts, fiery rock n roll tunes, heartfelt torch songs, and synth-drenched pop numbers. The playing throughout positively smokes, as the one-two punch of Gramm and Jones lands with both emotional and musical impact every time. There's not a single wasted note. And, reduced to a quartet, Foreigner seems bent on making more with less, just as Lange does with the polished production. This is 42 minutes of hard-rocking bliss.

Accept no substitute. Mobile Fidelitys collectible audiophile edition will rattle your walls and shake your windows. Be prepared to tap every reserve available from your amplifiers. And play it LOUD!

Feel the Earth Move: Mobile Fidelity Gives Listeners the End-All-Be-All Definitive Analog Version of the Long-Time Audiophile Classic

Analog Reissue True to Producer's Original Intent of Putting Carole King in the Room With You: Experience and Feel Every Organic Nuance, Suggestive Delivery, Intimate Note

Blockbuster Album Defined Singer-Songwriter Movement, Swept Grammy Awards, Spawned Four Hit Singles, Sold More Than 25 Million Copies Worldwide

Ranked #36 on Rolling Stone's List of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

Carole King's Tapestry is one of the rare albums that immediately plays in your head the moment its title, cover art, or songs are mentioned. Having achieved status of near-mythical proportions, it is the singer-songwriter record you'd bring to the proverbial desert island if you were limited to one choice. Renowned for its lifelike production, Tapestry now sounds clearer, richer, and more emotional courtesy of Mobile Fidelity's 180g LP. Audiophiles, this is the version that brings Carole King right before your eyes and into your room. This is the edition you need. It's the edition you deserve.

Faithful to original album producer Lou Adler's vision of making King (and not just any pianist player) appear seated and playing in front of listeners, this numbered limited-edition 180g LP delivers utmost transparency, balance, warmth, intimacy, and perhaps most importantly, feeling. Aware of how many times this iconic work has been re-released, Mobile Fidelity engineers settled for nothing less than the absolute finest sonic presentation possible when mastering Tapestry from the original master tapes.

The results mirror what went down in the A&M Studios. Lean, simple, direct, and so nakedly real the sonics evoke what might be heard on a professional demo tape, this collectable LP gives what Rolling Stone deems the 36th Greatest Album of All Time the due it deserves. King's personal singing, her graceful pianism, the integral rhythmic foundation provided by the likes of drummer Russ Kunkel and guitarist Danny Kortchmar, and the symmetrical contributions of guest instrumentalists ranging from saxophonist Curtis Amy to guitarist James Taylor resonate with three-dimensional imaging and cozy realism. Every note, every basic movement, accurately rendered with exquisite detail and full-bodied tonality.

Indeed, one reason-apart from the flawless songwriting, earnest deliveries, and eloquent performances-Tapestry endures is because of the naturalness of the production and songs. King's unadulterated articulations on love, conviction, friendship, place, sadness, and companionship ring true because there's no doubting their meaning, intent, or sincerity. Tapestry makes you feel, and compels you to get closer to the music, and the musicians performing. It is an album of organic nuances, suggestive intents, and engaging melodies.

Blood, Sweat And Tears (Awaiting Repress)

Winner of three Grammy Awards in 1970, this absolutely mind-blowing album peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. charts, staying there for seven weeks, going double platinum by the end of 1969 and stayed on the Top 40 for 66 weeks.

Arguably, the Blood Sweat & Tears that made this self-titled second album - consisting of five of the eight original members and four newcomers, including singer David Clayton-Thomas - was really a different group from the one that made Child Is Father to the Man, which was done largely under the direction of singer/songwriter/keyboard player Al Kooper. They had certain similarities to the original: the musical mixture of classical, jazz and rock elements was still apparent, and the interplay between the horns and the keyboards was still occurring, even if those instruments were being played by different people.

We're Gonna Change The World - The 60's Chicago Garage Sound Of Quill Records

Chicago was a great place to be if you were a member of a rock & roll combo in the mid-'60s -- there were plenty of teen clubs, radio stations were happy to play local product, and several Windy City labels were ready and willing to take hometown acts into the studio and get their music into stores. Dunwich Records and USA Records were the biggest labels in Chicago and both scored a handful of national hits, but they were far from the only game in town, and Peter Wright, a successful record promo man who went on to manage the New Colony Six, ran one of the city's most interesting small labels, Quill Records, which released top-notch sides on a number of fine groups and licensed a few of his masters to larger labels out of town.

While Quill only lasted a bit less than two years (from 1966 to 1967), their output was impressive stuff from an eclectic variety of acts, and the great reissue label Sundazed, only a few months after releasing a definitive two-disc overview of the USA Records catalog (2131 South Michigan Avenue: 60's Garage and Psychedelia from U.S.A. and Destination Records), have unearthed 19 highlights from Quill's archives on We're Gonna Change the World! The 60's Chicago Garage Sound of Quill Productions.

Many of Quill's acts followed the trends of the major British acts of the day, but hardly all of them; the Exterminators deliver a screed against long hair and take an America first position on rock with the over the top Declaration of Independence '65, Hot Pastrami by the Don Caron Orchestra is a high-powered instrumental dominated by honking saxophones and fuzzy guitars, and I'm Going to Change the World by the Commons Ltd. suggests the psychedelic revolution that was lurking around the corner while still maintaining a high degree of sneer and swagger.

And even the acts that were looking to the U.K. for inspiration were turning their eyes to unusual places; the Delights were clearly obsessed with the Zombies, so much so that their original tune Every Minute, Every Hour, Every Moment mimics their style just as well as their cover of Just Out of Reach, and the Skunks, who true to their name bleached stripes into their hair, also leaned to the moody side of British pop with Don't Ask Why and a fine cover of the Beatles' It's Only Love (though Do the Duck is a raw and fuzzy celebration of some would-be dance craze).
