    Definitely Maybe

Remastered Reissue Of The Classic Debut Album

In 20 years' time, people will buy Definitely Maybe and listen to it for what it was. That's what is important." Noel Gallagher, August 1994. Remarkably
confident words from a guitarist on the eve of his band's debut album release. But Oasis were always certain in their abilities - and the public were just as
clear the five-piece were on the right track.Let's get the statistics out of the way. On its release in August 1994, Definitely Maybe sold a record-breaking
86,000 copies in its first week, the highest first-week sales for a debut album in Britain. It has since gone on to sell 5 million around the world. Over the
course of their eight albums until disbanding in 2009, Oasis sold over 70 million albums. More importantly, the songs sound as fresh and relevant today as
they did 20 years ago. A hunger to escape will always sound vital, especially if it's sung as mesmerically as Liam Gallagher and written with the urgency
of Liam's older brother Noel. Its four singles - Supersonic, Shakermaker, Live Forever and Cigarettes And Alcohol - are established classics. Even more
impressively, songs that were never released outside of the album's confines such as Rock 'N' Roll Star and Slide Away also remain anthems and radio
staples known to every generation of music fan.

    Heathen Chemistry

While they offered the '90s two of its most defining albums, and a resurgence of '60s-influenced Manchester rock, Oasis tumbled off the top of the mountain in the last half of the decade. Heathen Chemistry opens with The Hindu Times, which will certainly be listed among Oasis's best anthems, and it closes with Better Man, a distorted-guitar-driven thrill that revs up to 60 mph in second gear. --Beth Massa

    A Northern Soul

    2016 Remastered

Though The Verve has finally taken its rightful place in the Brit Rock cannon, it languished for years behind such English luminaries as Oasis and Radiohead. During that time, The Verve release several albums that got less attention than they deserved. Mark A Northern Soul as one of them.

The 1995 release was perhaps the first album on which the band reeled in its trademark guitar epics and fashioned bona fide pop songs. On Your Own is one of the lushest and loveliest tracks never to find a minute of commercial airplay in the U.S. or abroad. No self-respecting fan of modern rock should be without this one. --Nick Heil

    The Masterplan

Following a British rock tradition initiated by the Beatles and lovingly inherited by the Jam and the Clash, Oasis is the only band of the era to offer fans extra tracks on their singles that are often as good as, if not better than, the hits. Rather than saving his new songs for the next full album, Noel Gallagher prefers immediacy. Thus, this compilation of those various B-Sides works just great as a listening experience, offering metallic rushes (Acquiesce, The Swamp Song) and absolute melodic beauty (Talk Tonight, the marvelous Rockin' Chair), while conjuring up the ghosts of Mott the Hoople, T. Rex, the Fab Four, and Slade. -Bill Holdship

Mastered by Bernie Grundman from Analog Tapes

Peter, Paul and Mary's self-titled 1962 debut on Warner Bros. Records, a stunning oasis of content in a sea of musical fluff, brought folk music of consciousness and concern to the top of the charts. Fueled by the enormous hits Lemon Tree and If I Had a Hammer (which enjoyed a second life as an anthem of the Civil Rights Movement), the album went straight to #1, remaining in the Billboard Top 10 for 10 months and in the Top 20 for two years on the way to a remarkable three-and-a-half year run on the album chart. This success marked the beginning of an incredibly fertile and influential time for the group, and for the contemporary urban folk tradition they personified.

This was the group's biggest selling studio album, eventually certified Double Platinum by the RIAA for US sales of more than 2 million copies. At the Grammy Awards of 1963, their recording of If I Had a Hammer won the Best Folk Recording and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal Grammies.

    BE

Beady Eye are an English rock band formed in 2009, by lead singer Liam Gallagher, guitarists Gem Archer and Andy Bell, and drummer Chris Sharrock all former members of Oasis.

BE is their second studio album, originally released on 10 June 2013. It was recorded between November 2012 and March 2013. The album was produced by Dave Sitek who has previously produced records for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio and Jane's Addiction. BE debuted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart.

. BE feels familiar -- the group is stuck in the back-half of the '60s, naturally loving the post-Pepper pomp of the Beatles but happy to crib from the Zombies (Second Bite of the Apple opens with a riff adapted from Time of the Season) or any other number of half-remembered, half-forgotten psychedelic oldies -- but isn't musty, thanks in part to Sitek's colorful, layered production. It's busy enough to keep BE skipping along -- there are far more tempos here than there are on the stately High Flying Birds -- but it's not fussy, partially due to the immediacy inherent in Liam Gallagher's voice, partially due to the open, airy sound that floats and coaxes and never hammers. At times, the reckless rush that powered such Different Gear songs as Bring the Light is missed -- this never, ever quite rocks, not even when Face the Crowd announces itself with a flurry of pinging, punchy chords -- but what is gained is imagination, along with some degree of subtlety that feels new coming from veterans of Oasis. And that doesn't go just for the members of Beady Eyes themselves: compared to Noel's High Flying Birds, BE is lithe and bright, and sonically seductive in a way HFB never attempts. That said, for as appealing BE is on its surface, it remains evident that none of the members of Beady Eye are capable of crafting a sturdy composition like the estranged Noel Gallagher. Liam and Andy Bell are workmanlike writers, while Gem Archer, the member with the dodgiest pedigree, writes the two best songs here, Second Bite of the Apple and the candied Iz Rite, but they don't linger in the mind the way Noel's songs do. Nevertheless, Beady Eye does something Noel does not (at least not yet): they can deliver a pure pop rush with an insouciant flair. Perhaps they're happily stuck in the past, but there's no denying that when they have a hook or melody -- and when they have a savvy producer like Sitek supporting them -- they deliver the retro goods.

Girls Volume 2: All Adventurous Women Do - Music From The HBO Original Series

Ever since its 2012 debut, Girls hasn't left many viewers stranded in the middle of the road. If you've sat down long enough to get acquainted with Lena Dunham and her pseudo-worldly, doe-eyed clique of twentysomethings, you've likely drawn some pretty strong conclusions one way or the other. It's easy to love the show for Dunham's pretty spot-on take on the excitement and frustration that comes with starting adult life, but it's just as easy to get worn down by the characters' insufferable self-absorption.

Girls is a show driven by contradictions, but not in a bad way. As a show that documents the spectacular highs and soul-crushing lows that come with trying to find yourself in the post-collegiate world, it makes sense that it's something of an emotional roller coaster. That said, how do you score a series that's prone to frequent mood swings, often within the same episode? Diversity is the key, and Girls Soundtrack Vol. 2 boasts something for every occasion. It sizes up obnoxious party pop like Zero Dezire's "It's My Birthday (Remix)" alongside calming neo-folk from Father John Misty. It's got a firm grip on the contemporary (Lily Allen and Jenny Lewis) without losing sight of elder statesmen (Beck and Oasis). Other tracks, such as Vampire Weekend's perfectly Vampire Weekend-ish cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm Going Down", hit a nice balance between the two.

Music supervisor Manish Raval demonstrates a keen ear for coloring the right scenes with the right music. Who better to muse over Hannah's anxiety-induced breakdown than Daniel Johnston ("Life in Vain")? When Hannah and Jessa get stood up by Jessa's aloof father, the forlorn sounds of Aimee Mann's "How Am I Different" strike an appropriate chord. We could grumble about some choice cuts from Thee Oh Sees, the Count Five, The Fall, Fiona Apple, and others that were left off the soundtrack, but Vol. 2 does a commendable job of trying to make sense of the show's myriad emotions through song.

    Love Is Here

Love Is Here is the debut studio album by indie rock band Starsailor.

Starsailor was already a critic's darling in the band's native England during mid-2001, and the group's painfully melodic debut, Love Is Here, poised the band to rise in the shadows of Doves, Coldplay, and Travis. Starsailor, however, isn't as polished as its counterparts, but that's not to say Love Is Here isn't a beautiful piece of work. It's less lilting than Coldplay's Parachutes, and frontman James Walsh's aching vocals shape his angularity as a singer/songwriter.

Starsailor is a young band, and Love Is Here illustrates the group's sharp intellect inside basic acoustics. Singles such as the passionately violent Alcoholic and melancholic dark hues of Fever touch upon Starsailor's own pop stylings. The band isn't typically jaunty, for the members of Starsailor are a bit cynical. Lyrics reflect battles with self-discovery, independence, and being lovelorn; however, they're matches of a survivor.

Talk Her Down, one of the album's most gnarling tracks, bounces with light psychedelic patterns, and Good Souls is probably Starsailor's closest rock & roll moment. The live soundscape found on Love Is Here sets up the simplistic beauty of this new band. They didn't go for a grand bombast of crashing guitars and angst-ridden stories similar to Oasis and Manic Street Preachers. They go for something more positive as well -- each song soars with intricate musicianship and melodic lushness. Wigan native Richard Ashcroft would be pleased.

Slade are one of Britain's most popular and enduring bands, standing shoulder to shoulder next to the Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Who as an immovable part of Britain's rock firmament, and they've been lavishly praised by the likes of Messrs Lennon & McCartney and Mick Jagger, chaps who know a good tune when they hear one.

Described as the missing link between the Beatles and Oasis (the latter having covered 'Cum On Feel The Noize'), Slade are never far from British ears and hearts, having created some of the most beloved, indelible songs in the history of popular music.

When Slade Rocked The World 1971-1975 pays homage to their phenomenal run of hit singles and albums in the early 70s, when they seemingly could do no wrong.

You Gotta Go There To Come Back

    2016 Reissue

You Gotta Go There to Come Back is the fourth studio album by alternative rock band Stereophonics. Produced by Kelly Jones and released on V2 in 2003. It became their third consecutive album to top the UK chart. It is the final Stereophonics album to feature long-time original drummer Stuart Cable before he was fired in September 2003. Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band that formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in Cynon Valley. Described as classic UK rock delivered with whiskey vocals, the band have been summarized as possessing a sound akin to the genres of alternative rock and British traditional rock. Having sold around 10 million worldwide, Stereophonics are one of the most successful Welsh rock acts. Upon their release of Pull the Pin, they became the eighth group to achieve five consecutive UK number one albums (after the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, ABBA, Genesis, Oasis, Blur and U2).

    Cut at Abbey Road Studios

A two-volume set tying up loose ends, single releases and B-sides. But frankly, when your loose ends include 'Hey Jude', then it still probably qualifies as essential listening. There's a bit of filler here (nobody but a Germanic completist needs to hear 'Sie Liebt Dich') but there are a lot of absolute classics, especially on disc 2, which includes the barrelhouse 'Lady Madonna', the droning psychedelic 'Rain' (the whole of Oasis's career in one song) and Harrison's lovely 'Old Brown Shoe'. It ends with their final B-side, 'You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)'.

A team consisting of some of the best producers and engineers in the recording industry were brought together and would spend 4 long years mixing and mastering with some of the most state of the art recording equipment. treating these records much like a science experiment, engineers ran extensive tests before copying the analog master tapes over into a digital format using 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and carefully removing clicks, vocal pops and poor edits. Never altering the original songs them selves, just polishing them up a bit.

    Kaya

    Features Original Artwork

Kaya continues what has become an unspoken tradition in the evolution of Bob Marley & the Wailers discography -- blending western sounds and motifs with the icons and traditions from the very core of Jamaican society. In fact, the very word kaya is synonymous with marijuana in Rastafarian culture. Likewise, the album Kaya could be easily construed as an open love letter or musical paean to the lifestyle that Marley so eagerly embraced and promoted.

Themes of commonality and unity pervade this release more so than previous albums. Likewise, the overt political stances that had become somewhat of a moniker for Marley and the Wailers are temporarily replaced by timeless compositions, such as the eternally optimistic Easy Skanking and Is This Love. Marley had not -- as some proclaimed -- gone soft, however. The light, at times practically giddy, rhythms on Satisfy My Soul contrast the darker brooding sonic and lyrical images on Running Away.

The most pressings issues Marley deals with concern ever-increasing spiritual consciousness. Throughout Kaya, humble thanks is offered to, as well as guidance sought from, Jah -- evidence that the spirituality that permeates the Wailers music is real and not lip service. Kaya could be considered the oasis before the political and personal eruptions that would inform and influence Marley and the Wailers next studio releases Survival and Uprising.

    If I Had A Hammer

    • Limited To 1000 Copies

Tommy Rogers, the visionary vocalist and keyboardist of critically acclaimed progressive metal act, Between the Buried and Me, has dabbled in solo releases since 2004. Testing the limits of what he can do naturally with his voice, Rogers' strikingly beautiful falsetto and dynamic range conjures tales of anxiety, collapse, and strength. Exploring combinations of the outrÉ genres of both post-rock and electronic, the music's emotionally resonant yet textural sounds draw reference to artists such as Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, the Verve, Beck, Oasis and Spiritualized, balancing both rock and electronic impulses.

    Johnny99

Although it went virtually unnoticed upon its initial release in 1983, this intriguing record momentarily put a halt to Johnny Cash's precipitous artistic decline and kept the promise of his resurgence alive. Recorded in Los Angeles with session men including Marty Stuart, Norton Buffalo, Jo-El Sonnier, and producer Brian Ahern, Johnny 99 focuses on the work of younger songwriters--Bruce Springsteen, Paul Kennerley, Guy Clark--and might be the lone oasis in an otherwise barren decade. The solemn opener, Springsteen's Highway Patrolman, sets the tone as Cash turns a very restrained reading into an emotional powerhouse, supported by Hoyt Axton's baritone growl. The Springsteen-penned title track becomes a honky-tonk anthem as Cash delivers the Boss's lyrics with acute understanding. The touching Civil War ballad God Bless Robert E. Lee, the tropical/topical Joshua Gone Barbados, and the attractive duet with June Carter on Kennerley's Brand New Dance help round out a rather diverse (for Cash) collection. Aside from the occasional guitar effect and unnecessary keyboard intrusion (it was 1983 after all), this set marks a high point of a low period.

When Husky returned to the familiar sites and sounds of Melbourne late in 2015, the singer-songwriter sought sanctuary at a creative hub called The Hotel - "an old mansion that serves as a home, way station, salon, oasis for artists, eccentrics, night owls and sojourners passing through or needing to hang up their skates for a while.

"Melbourne was new to me as it always is when I return from being away. But it was also full of ghosts - remnants of my past life, people who were no longer around, places that were at once familiar and foreign, memories that drifted through my dreams and waking thoughts, becoming fused and inseparable. I slept little but dreamt a lot. My dreams were of the past, they took me back over and over again when what I wanted was to start again, to find something brand new. Ghost was part of a process of coming to terms with this half asleep, half awake, somewhere between the haunted past and the sunlit possibility of tomorrow."

It was at The Hotel, readjusting to Melbourne life, that 'Ghost' and the album Punchbuzz were born. Shaped by the duo's recent experiences, Punchbuzz finds Husky tapping into something that hadn't previously come to the fore on their debut album Forever So or much-loved follow-up Ruckers Hill. It sees the band swapping their signature folk sound for streamlined indie rock that lopes ahead with widescreen atmosphere, dark lyrics, and newly muscled melodies. Sharp, lean, and driving, the album more than lives up to the dynamic imperative of its title.

Freedom Tower - No Wave Dance Party 2015

New York City is a big place. A loud place. Some of that noise is music. And some of the music is noise.

Sucking it all in and turning it loose with prejudice, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion takes a ferocious bite out of the Big Apple with their new long-player, Freedom Tower - No Wave Dance Party 2015, the first record of the new era that demands to be stopped and frisked!

Like the best sides that percolated up from the Bronx, the Lower East Side, and Greenwich Village across the 1970s and '80s - Freedom Tower is more than a high-octane dance party record, it is a document of New York City, a chronicle of grit and terror and love!

It's all here: The Hustler and The Trust Fund Baby, the Mosh Pit Casualty, the Celebrity Chef, the Crooked Cop, the Struggling Artist, the Sucker MC, the forgotten Sex Workers and Last-Chance Cinderellas. Within these grooves are cold-water tenements, blue-chip galleries, dingy Avenue B studios, and the last real warrior poet whose dark magick brings garage rock ghosts back from the grave!

Freedom Tower is a radical portrait of New York City set to the savage funkacide of the Blues Explosion, locked and loaded with the most deadly, predatory guitar riffs that primitive magnetic tape can handle . From start to finish, Freedom Tower is overmodulated, cooked with dirt, and finished in acid rain! Freedom Tower is packed with the kind of beats and rhymes that will make even the most reserved Walter Mitty jump back and say "damn!"

For nearly a quarter-century the Blues Explosion have been sweating, freezing, eating, drinking, fucking, fighting, winning, and losing in New York City, perpetrating some of the most timeless moments of musical mayhem in the history of Manhattan and beyond. As ever, Jon Spencer tells the tales, Judah Bauer plays the blues, and Russell Simins smashes things to bits... And as always Blues Explosion stomp on the faux underground oasis peddled by bourgeois hipsters and marketing jocks to deliver the real deal - rock'n'roll that is unapologetically nasty and strong.

Rehearsed and polished in a string of secret gigs and unannounced opening slots in theaters, hotel bars, and dives (often under assumed names), and then recorded at the legendary Daptone House Of Soul in Bushwick and mixed with hip-hop cult legend Alap Momin at the cutting edge of Harlem, Freedom Tower is the most provocative statement of urban pathos and panache ever recorded.

Play this record at all-night rent parties, picnics, discotheques, and protests!

There are eight million stories in the Naked City - but there is only one Blues Explosion!

    Poets Were My Heroes

Morning Glory is made up of the stuff that the gritty, punk-crust motherland of New York's infamous Lower East Side has been known to spawn. This group of punkers and squatters had very humble beginnings indeed. Already in various other New York punk bands, Morning Glory first became the spark of an idea when Ezra Kire (Leftöver Crack, Choking Victim, INDK) took time off from touring and started to write some tunes in his NYC apartment.

In 2001, with nothing but a drum machine and an 8-track reel-to-reel, Ezra wrote and recorded the songs that would become Morning Glory's first LP, This Is No Time ta Sleep. Though it was self-recorded, home-released and had no touring support, it still managed to create a small but ubiquitous underground buzz. With a virtuosic range of musical elements such as ska, punk, metal, and even some rhyming, its catchy, anthemic sing-alongs showcased Ezra's flourishing writing talents. And while his lyrics stayed true to the caustic political edge of his other bands, the overall message remained more optimistic and leaned towards the humanistic, personal side of life.

In 2002, Ezra finally assembled a live band, handpicking musicians from the local NYC punk scene, including members of Nausea, World/Inferno Friendship Society and Stockyard Stoics. This lineup recorded the EP, The Whole World is Watching, released on Blacknoise Records in 2003. While the years that followed were spent recording and touring with Leftöver Crack, Morning Glory took a back seat.

But after these long years of touring, Ezra finally decided to give Morning Glory the attention it deserved in 2010 and began writing songs for what was to become the epic new album, Poets Were My Heroes. In the summer of 2011, Ezra and the band (with longtime members Early Gates, "Metal" Chris and Lucky Strano alongside new guitarist Adam Schrager) hit the studio with a barrage of new material. Picture the sonic kaleidoscope of punk noise meeting strings, horns, choirs, pianos and organs over a web of distorted guitars and marching, single kick pedal drums.

These are the sounds that make up Poets Were My Heroes, Morning Glory's Fat Wreck Chords debut and first full-length album recorded with a live band. Re-enlisting producer Jesse Cannon (The Menzingers, Saves the Day), a wealth of material was recorded, with only the very strongest songs being chosen to make up the album. It is both grand and elaborate, with each song evoking a different mood and style, challenging the musicianship of even the most dexterous players, while still maintaining its punk-inspired simplicity.

While the band itself has described themselves as "somewhere between Oasis and The Clash," they continue to break rules and write music that is true only to themselves, adhering to no genres, creeds or political factions. The sing-along choruses give the band a broader appeal than the standard politi-kill punk acts, but the key message is more subversive: "Think for yourself, decide for yourself, make up your own mind and love your friends. Only you know what is right for you. Together we are what we can't be alone." It's this unity in diversity that makes the band special and not just another punk outfit. Double vinyl includes digital download of full album.
