"Let me open by saying I'M BLOWN AWAY ! Starting with Ballast I was hooked Christ Copyright kept me there and then this Mr. MTV track made me think that Gavin Rossdale (Bush) and Geddy Lee (Rush) merged to become the singer. The sequence of this album is perfect although I'd move Jenny (#13) up to earlier as it kills as well. Gyre was stunning / acoustic and really was perfectly placed as a track. Also loved The Matthew Effect and Here's To The Heartache, especially #10, If I Were. In summary no filler and from the second I heard the words (Holding each other like ransom notes) I was lyrically hooked as well." - Randy Lennox - CEO, Universal Music (Canada)

With soaring vocal melodies, meticulous atypical rhythmic structures, huge anthemia choruses and lyrical content that restores the art of storytelling, NOTHING MORE is set to take over the airwaves with the upcoming, self-titled Eleven Seven Music debut album. With tracks like "This Is The Time (Ballast)" - they are ready to raise the standard for contemporary rock music.

The hotly pursued band was thrilled to sign their deal with Eleven Seven Music Group "The day has finally come that we are partnering with a label that feels as passionately as we do about conquering the world through music;" says vocalist Jonny Hawkins. "We couldn't be prouder to be working with the amazing people at Eleven Seven!" Danny Wimmer from Armsdivsion Management adds "While most labels in todays new music business are chasing pop culture and radio trends, Eleven Seven music has stayed true to the rock genre and continues to double down on expanding their reach in the genre. I couldn't be more excited to have Nothing More join the Eleven Seven Music family."

This is the Time (ballast)Eleven Seven Music Group CEO, Allen Kovac adds "Every 10 years or so there is a band that sonically and lyrically shakes things up and cuts through the clutter. For true rock fans that moment has arrived with Nothing More. That is why we signed them to a 5 album guaranteed contract," he says. The whole world is buzzing about this band, with everyone from radio programmers to promoters to music magazines agreeing that a special band has arrived.

    You're Nothing

Just out of their teens, it seems Copenhagen's Iceage have only added to the anxiety and tension that made their debut album, New Brigade, so compelling. But now, they're challenging their raging emotions instead of simply expressing them. You're Nothing, Iceage's sophomore album, is the sound of a band pushing their singular mix of punk, Goth, hardcore, and postpunk to even further extremes. It's overwhelming how many ways Iceage have found to write the short aggressive rock song. When you see Iceage live you get the feeling the songs are just about to fall apart before miraculously recovering, always rewarding you with a climax. This menacing energy is more forceful on You're Nothing. It is a more epic sound, like a rough sea.

    Nothing Is Real

Crystal antlers aren't really about making some shit we've heard before, but they do take notice of some important touchstones: powerful organ runs, ragged vocals and an ability to turn even relatively short songs into something that sounds beyond epic."

    - The Fader

Merging psych, garage, lo-fi, prog, and countless other influences, the group easily maintains consistency despite a complete inability to be pinned to any specific movement or trend."

    - Pitchfork

    Art-garage whiplash at its finest."

    - AV Club

It's hard not to admire these out-there dudes"

    - NME

They're at the point where comparisons do little justice. They're just crystal antlers now."

    - LA Times

Currently slated for a fall 2013 release is the newest Crystal Antlers full-length Nothing Is Real, featuring cover art by famed surf/skate/graffiti legend C.R. Stecyk III and recorded as the band returns to its most fundamental roots as an agile power trio - Jonny Bell, drummer Kevin Stuart and guitarist Andrew King.

Nothing Is Real is Crystal Antlers going beyond the beyond, with songs that rattle and ricochet from desolation to delirium. Opener "Pray" sounds like what would have happened if Black Flag's Greg Ginn had produced the first Psychedelic Furs single; "Persephone" and "Anywhere But Here" match the desperate, relentless rhythm of the Wipers with the inside-out guitar melodies of the Pixies. "Licorice Pizza" recalls lost cult-punk heroes like the Flesh Eaters or the Embarrassment. On Nothing Is Real, you'll feel as much as hear echoes of bands like Wire, Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr.

As Bell puts it, "With each album, we've tried to figure out ways to include more of our whole selves in the recordings, while still keeping things cohesive. And from growing up in punk bands, there always needs to be that little element of something that might piss someone off. We might be using a drum machine-but we're gonna use it completely the wrong way."

Optimism is infectious, and there can be few more optimistic statements than the ttitle of the new album from Dignan Porch: Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen. As you listen to the warm-hearted, weirdo pop within, as you're drawn into their world, you might be inclined to agree with them. Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen is Dignan Porch's second album, though in many way it's their first. 2010's debut, Tendrils, was written and recorded a solo concern by singer Joe Walsh. Here, he's joined by the full band, comprising brother Sam Walsh plus close friends Ben Goodwin, Hayley Akins and Stephen Keane.

    Building Nothing Out Of Something

Loneliness, boredom, and random observations have been at the heart of Modest Mouse's skewered musical universe through all their releases. The Issaquah, Washington-born trio has also been able to spin very-long-playing albums that catered to the group's core obsessions, with both its full-length Up Records releases--This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About and The Lonesome Crowded West clocking in at more than 70 minutes in length. So it's refreshing to hear this supremely odd rock band at its most economical. Building Nothing Out of Something catches singles, compilation tunes, and more--none of which were ever intended to be sequenced as an album. As a narrative whole, the singles take on a visionary quality, discerning worldly, bent revelations in the everyday world. The swervy vocals that Isaac Brock has made his trademark sound as languidly distressed as ever, stricken by marvel and ghastly awakenings in equal measures. The music serves Brock well, sounding wobbly and sturdy at once, as if it barely teeters on chaos's brink at a variety of mostly midtempo paces. Never Ending Math Equation, A Life of Arctic Sounds, and Other People's Lives play the most stoutly, with the tonally clean guitars breaking across all the angular phrasings and rhythms Modest Mouse thrive on while Brock's voice goes from warpy drollery to exasperated wail in the face of his task as a singer and writer.

    All Or Nothing At All

Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound

...the third (Billie Holiday album) to receive the two-disc 45 RPM treatment by Analogue Productions. ... Billie sounds like she's at the microphone in your living room. The instruments are spread out between the speakers and there is plenty of depth. A pristine original has a bit more pronounced vocal sibilance and air, and this reissue smooths that out a bit. That aside, this is a fabulous reissue of essential music. Highest recommendation. - Recording = 9.5/10; Music = 10/10 - Dennis D. Davis, Hi-Fi +, Issue 95

...these are all truly classic Verve titles that you simply don't want to miss...most importantly, the sound of these reissues is nothing short of astounding. Particularly the early Billie and Ella mono records are incredible treasures of sonic beauty. I'd definitely ask Santa for the whole set, or, if you want to cherry pick, the most classic titles. Whatever you decide, you owe yourself at least a half dozen! Winner of a 2012 Positive Feedback Online Writers' Choice Award - Danny Kaey, Positive Feedback Online, November/December 2011

After the publication of her autobiography, Lady Sings The Blues, Billie Holiday was doing good business in clubs in what turned out to be a last burst of stardom. We cannot know why she stopped recording for Norman Granz after January 1957 - but the present collection is a magnificent culmination of her years with the producer.

Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

Age Ain't Nothing but a Number is the debut studio album by American R&B recording artist Aaliyah, originally released under Jive and Blackground Records on May 24, 1994, in the United States.

After being signed by her uncle Barry Hankerson, Aaliyah was introduced to recording artist and producer R. Kelly. He became her mentor, as well as the lead songwriter and producer of the album. The duo recorded the album at the Chicago Recording Company in Chicago, Illinois. The album featured two hit singles, including the top ten charting Back & Forth and At Your Best (You Are Love); both singles were certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). One additional single followed in the US: Age Ain't Nothing but a Number. Two more singles were released internationally after Age Ain't Nothing But a Number: Down with the Clique and The Thing I Like.

Aaliyah was credited for redefining R&B by blending her voice with Kelly's new jack swing. The album peaked at number 18 on the Billboard 200 and sold over three million copies in the United States. The album was certified Gold in Canada by the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) and Gold in the United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) to date. The album has sold over six million copies worldwide.

the void Pacific - DH Lawrence

    Pioneering electronic musician/DJ/producer Moby
releases his 13th album More Songs About The
Apocalypse, his 2nd as Moby & The Void Pacific
Choir. As with much of Moby's output during his
nearly three-decade-long career, it's not surprising
that a spiritual & political questioning underpins the
nine songs comprising latest full length album. In
    characteristically iconoclastic fashion, the weighty
themes explored throughout More Fast Songs About
The Apocalypse find expression as the most direct
& personal music Moby has ever created. "That
quality of atmospheric sadness I've done so much of
before isn't here - there's nothing quiet or ambient,"
he notes. "Sonically, this record isn't subtle: it's
big & loud, with huge kick drums & massive choral
    choruses."

    Nothing's Shocking

Ranked 309/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.

Although Jane's Addiction's 1987 self-titled debut was an intriguing release (few alternative bands at the time had the courage to mix modern rock, prog rock, and heavy metal together), it paled in comparison to their now classic major-label release one year later, Nothing's Shocking. Produced by Dave Jerden and Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell, the album was more focused and packed more of a sonic wallop than its predecessor; the fiery performances often create an amazing sense that it could all fall apart at any second, creating a fantastic musical tension. Such tracks as Up the Beach, Ocean Size, and one of alt-rock's greatest anthems, Mountain Song, contain the spaciousness created by the band's two biggest influences, Led Zeppelin and the Cure. Elsewhere, Ted, Just Admit It... (about serial killer Ted Bundy) and the haunting yet gorgeous Summertime Rolls stretched to epic proportions, making great use of changing moods and dynamics (something most alt-rock bands of the time were oblivious to). An incredibly consistent and challenging album, other highlights included the rockers Had a Dad and Pigs in Zen, the horn-driven Idiots Rule, the jazz instrumental Thank You Boys, and the up-tempo Standing in the Shower...Thinking. Like most great bands, it was not a single member whose contribution was greater: Perry Farrell's unique voice and lyrics, Dave Navarro's guitar riffs and wailing leads, Eric Avery's sturdy basslines, and one of rock's greatest and most powerful drummers, Stephen Perkins. Nothing's Shocking is a must-have for lovers of cutting-edge, influential, and timeless hard rock.

    Nothing's Impossible (Discontinued) (On Sale)

Solomon Burke recorded Nothing's Impossible with Willie Mitchell in his famous Royal Studio in Memphis in late 2009. This record, which was 35 years in the making, unfortunately turned out to be one of the last projects either of these legends would work on. Willie Mitchell passed away in January 2010, while Solomon Burke exchanged this world for the Great Concert In The Sky on the advent of his European tour in October 2010.

While Music On Vinyl and V2 had planned to make this album their first collaborative project, they are now even more aware of its historical importance, and will make sure that it receives the care and attention it is due.

Solomon Burke grew up in the gospel tradition and this remained one of the main influences in his music. Willie Mitchell, who is most famous for his work with Al Green, was fully aware of this. Mitchell wraps Burke's raw emotional delivery in a rich arrangement that keeps Burke's Sunday morning fervor intact while he examines the heart of every song.

This is a record that was long in the making and yet seems effortless, a validation of the greatness of two legends.

Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown

When The Skull Defekts entered the studio in the Spring of 2013 with nothing more than a collection of loosely organized riffs, they set out to record their most extreme, challenging rock record. Much to the band's surprise, what emerged were their most incessantly listenable, approachable songs to date. The Defekts merge the coarse vitality of punk with the ritualism of folk dances to create music that is addictive, wondrously discordant, and rooted in a belief in the overwhelming power of pure sound. Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown is the Swedish group's third release as a quintet, with the legendary Daniel Higgs joining Joachim Nordwall and Daniel Fagerstroem on vocal duties and acting as the group's spiritual ringleader. The Defekts have long acted as the backbone of the Swedish experimental underground, but since their 2011 breakthrough Peer Amid, the group has emerged at the vanguard of a new wave of radical Scandinavian rock music alongside Iceage and the Posh Isolation label.

Miss Machine (Colored Vinyl) (Awaiting Repress)

Limited Edition Coke Bottle Green Vinyl

New vocalist Greg Puciato begins on Van Damsel, It's not what you thought as it runs a dead stop. A thousand bands would've quit at ...what you thought; Dillinger adds runs a dead stop, and makes you leap out of the way of its hardcore car crashing into the jazz establishment. No kidding! After five years, the band has lost nothing, only gained. Time signatures are a play toy, genres are a joke, and the wannabes' goofy I'm so tortured, listen to me scream is nowhere to be found. Here, jarring instrumental changes work as a bitches' brew of stealthy genius, sticking you with a shiv and changing faces in the dark.

Technical metal, righteous hardcore, twittering jazz interludes, and starkly melodic, seemingly post-punk-inspired segments all put the punters soundly in their place. Miss Machine doesn't even really seem that angry. Well, not anger for anger's sake, anyway. Cuts like Panasonic Youth and We Are the Storm are fueled by a manic alchemy of metal and hardcore, and Puciato's veins couldn't have survived the sessions. But the rage is artful; it's an integral part of Dillinger's larger performance. In the near future, rich women and fuddy-duddies will consider Miss Machine through opera glasses as sweaty children lash each other with cat-o'-nine-tails. There's nothing more to say -- the next true image of rock & roll has crawled out of the swamps of Jersey.

    Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

There's a real sense of menace to Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, the title song of AC/DC's third album. More than most of their songs to date, it captured the seething malevolence of Bon Scott, the sense that he reveled in doing bad things, encouraged by the maniacal riffs of Angus and Malcolm Young who provided him with their most brutish rock & roll yet. But for as glorious as the title track was, the entire album served as a call to arms from a group that wanted nothing more than to celebrate the dirtiest, nastiest instincts humans could have, right down to the insurgent anti-authority vibe that runs throughout the record. Take Big Balls -- sure, it's a dirty joke, but it's a dirty joke with class overthrow in mind. There's a sense on Dirty Deeds that AC/DC is storming the gates -- they're problem children sick of waiting around to be a millionaire, so they're gonna make their own money, even if they take down others as they go. That's what gives Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap its supercharged, nervy pulse; there's a real sense of danger to this record, something that can't be hidden beneath the jokes. Maybe that's why the album wasn't released in the U.S. until 1981, after Bon's death, after AC/DC had become millionaires -- if it arrived any earlier, it would have been too insurrectionist for the common good.

    Hotel California

Certified Multi-Platinum (16 times) by the RIAA. (3/01)

It's no accident that The Eagles Greatest Hits might one day pass Michael Jackson's Thriller as the best-selling album of all time-- the Eagles made great singles. By contrast, their albums could be spotty and strained by self-conscious artistry. Hotel California was arguably the band's best single album--it was certainly the Eagles' biggest original disc-- and it also underscored the band's need to make a big statement. The title tune reflected the album's theme of paradise lost in California, painting this picture with a musical arrangement that punctuated strumming guitars with dramatic drums, and perhaps the band's most famous lyric: You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. New Kid in Town was an equally fine albeit much more traditional Eagles ballad. Life in the Fast Lane aspired to hard rock but largely gunned its engine without taking off. The rest is okay, but nothing more than secondary Eagles songs that happened to be nestled into the album that came to define the `70s supergroup. --John Milward

    Delirium

With their 8th studio album the Italian Gothfathers decided it was time to up the ante, switch into heavy mode and finally take full creative control over every aspect of their album "Delirium". They created an audio-visual setting that is allowing for flashing glimpses of a dark place that will take their listeners on an entrancing trip. Or as LACUNA COIL say in their very own synopsis of "Delirium"

"'Delirium' is about the horrors that we must face in everyday life by exploring the unknown, and to one day, hopefully find the cure." After being heavily involved with previous productions Marco "Maki" Coti-Zelati took over the leading role as producer together with his fellow bandmates. Marco Barusso co-produced as well as recorded the guitar solos for "Delirium" Mark Vollelunga of Nothing More added a solo to "Blood, Tears, Dust" while Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge and many more) came up with a tailor-made one for "Downfall". However, LACUNA COIL went even further with Marco "Maki" Coti-Zelati creating the artwork for "Delirium" himself, based on an atmospheric session captured by Italian photographer Alessandro Olgiati.

The Lower Side Of Uptown (Pre-Order)

Toadies will release their next album The Lower Side Of Uptown via Kirtland Records. This will be the band's seventh studio album and a 'return to form' as explained by frontman Vaden Todd Lewis: This album is 'roots Toadies, full of riffs and time shifts.' The Lower Side Of Uptown is the follow up to 2015's Heretics which saw the band taking a change of pace with a stripped down sound and mostly acoustic. When they were preparing to enter the studio this time around there was no set idea for what was to come but, the process ultimately had the band going back to their signature sound: I feel that subconsciously we thought that this record would have ended up incorporating some of that quieter sound, but that didn't happen. When we got to the studio with nothing more than a pile of riffs, what came out of the band was really loud and heavy music. So not only is this album louder than Heretics, I think it's louder and heavier than the last couple Toadies albums guitarist Clark Vogeler said of the sessions, which were recorded Arlyn Studio, a favorite of the legendary Willie Nelson, and The Bubble in Austin.

    Live

Despite the fact that the band's best days were obviously behind them, a live album for AC/DC was all but completely necessary. After all, the group's first live release, If You Want Blood You've Got It, was recorded at a time when AC/DC was nothing more than a cult act that had yet to produce many of its future rock staples. Though recorded well into their career on the Razor's Edge 1991 tour, AC/DC Live surprisingly captures the hype and excitement that made AC/DC such a hit in their heyday. The set list wisely overlooks the songs from the band's mid-'80s slump and concentrates on hard rock hits such as 'Hells Bells,' 'Back in Black,' 'Highway to Hell,' and 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.' Brian Johnson's voice may not be as strong as in the early '80s, but he still sounds competent in his role. All too often, a live album is a cheaply made, rushed recording that only serves as a testament to a band's decline. AC/DC Live, however, shows what makes this band different from their peers here they are still entirely capable of pulling off a great live show. This ranks among the best live metal albums of the '90s. [In February 2003, the American distribution rights to AC/DC's back catalog transferred over to Epic, their new label. Epic reissued the band's catalog as remastered digipacks containing lavish, expanded booklets with plenty of rare photographs, memorabilia, and notes. Although the digipacks may wear a little too easy, the sound is terrific clean and muscular, enhancing the raw qualities of the original record and the packaging is loving, making the reissues necessary for collectors.
